 + -1 moreThe technician was able to rebuild our control valves in place and then successfully tested the system. He also diagnosed potential problems with our clock/controller, and suggested a source for a replacement that I could install myself. The price of the work was very reasonable (and I used a discount coupon found on Angie's List), the technician was very efficient and courteous, and I will use their services again as needed and recommend them to others.
Description of Work: We have been having problems with our irrigation system (drip and sprinklers) for quite some time, so I called Controlled Rain and set up a visit for investigation and an estimate. I called and had them send out a technician to do the work, which included rebuilding the in-ground valves .

 + -1 moreCalled at 7:15am, received a call back at 7:55am. 5 Minutes before they are scheduled to open. Sent out Josh the same day to take a look at a leaking valve in the back yard. Was very honest, and said to do a couple of things and will return to fix on Wednesday. Not an issue since the water was able to be turned off. Was going to replace the pipes connecting the valves (3 valves). Estimate was $110, with $10 off for the Angie's list coupon. When Josh returned on Wednesday (at 9am, the scheduled time) and went to go to work. 5 minutes later Josh tells me the valves were simply loose. Was really cool and just said how would anyone know when its under water. After talking about if we should move forward with pipe replacement, based on his suggestion it wasn't really needed. After he tighten all the valves, and checked for leaks, said he was going to do an evaluation of the whole yard. He checked all heads, coverage and anything pertaining to the sprinklers. Not only did he do all that, he set the timer, and made a couple of adjustments. After all this (about 30 minutes worth of work), wrote a check for $45. Only charged me to re-wire the valves and the the yard evaluation. Would use these guys again and again. Great service, and extreme honest and fair. Josh, your the man a a great complement to a great company!

 + -1 moreWe called Controlled Rain and left a message. They returned the call within 30 minutes and an employee was at our house in just a couple of hours! The man was polite, professional and neatly dressed, giving a good first impression. He examined the system and diagnosed the problem, giving us a written estimate. He needed to get a part to repair the system and let the area dry out a bit, so he arranged to return the next day to replace the valve. He turned the water off in the meantime to stop the continuous leaking that had been covering part of the sidewalk in front of our house for days. He returned the next day, replaced the complete valve, and the system was fixed. No more leaks! Their prices seem fair, not super cheap but not outrageous, and the service was outstanding. They did not try to tell us that we needed more work done than was necessary which is always something that we watch for. Overall, it was an excellent experience. We had an knowledgeable, professional employee out to address our irrigation problem within just a few hours of our initial phone call, and then he returned to complete the repair the following day. What more could you ask for? We will definitely use this company again if we have a problem with our irrigation system in the future, and I would recommend them to others.

We planted 13 plants we bought at The Desert Botanical Garden's plant sale, and Ken added individual lines and sprinkler heads to each plant in no time at all. It would've been an all weekend project for me, and Ken had it completed in about 1.5 hours. He is always prompt, reliable, and 'no nonsense'. I would definitely recommend his service, and will use him for all my irrigation needs.

 + -1 moreThe irrigation controller wasn't working. It appears everything was OK at the controller but no power at the valves. We feared the cable had beed broken. The cable was running under the driveway, so it was bad. He gave me estimate including finding the cable and repairing. Luckily the break was before the driveway and he find it right away. He fixed it and revised the estimate to reflect the actual work done. I would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: The irrigation system was not working. They came right away and provided me with an estimate to repair the cable from the controller to the valves. After they found the break, they spliced it and review the estimate as it was a much simpler job than expected.

Description of Work: I had a flooding event in my yard, discovered in the late of an evening when i came home. I tracked it to ..i believed..to a sprinkler control system, but i wasnt 100% sure as there was so much water where it shouldnt be and it was 9pm or so. i was able to stop it temporarily until the morning. i made several calls, including to AHS my home warrenty company and the irrigation company they recommended. never heard from any of them. i got on angies list of course, and found Controlled Rain. Made a call to them, within a couple of hours Josh arrived, went thru everything and made sure everything was properly shut off. then he gave me several good ideas, good ball park prices and time frames and common sense suggestions for deciding how when to do things. he most certainly could have pushed getting a repair done now, he did not, he gave me good insights as to how and when to do repairs.. i told him i need to re-hab and potentially entirely re-make my back yard anyway..once i get that going then to call Controlled Rain...and i most certainly WILL call Controlled Rain! Josh was very supportive of his company and their business service, and of me as a customer needing a repair. i will use and recommend Controlled Rain. Thank You!

 + -1 moreKen met me at the houses on the same day that I made the initial call. He gave me a verbal estimate but then also emailed me a written estimate. The work was scheduled quickly after we made our decision to proceed with both jobs. The final bill came in at exactly the estimated price. They were professional, courteous and always on time. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Controlled Rain performed two jobs for us at two separate locations. The first job was at our previous home which we are turning into a rental. There are three trees at this location that we planted 2 & 3 year ago. The were not on any sort of drip line, as we were told that is not the best way to water trees. For three years my husband babied the trees, watering with a hose 2-3 times a week depending on the time of year. We knew we could not expect renters to give them that sort of TLC so we contacted Controlled Rain to see what they recommended. They ended up adding 4 drip heads around each tree that ran off the existing drip line for the shrubs. We paid $265 for this job. The other job was at our new house. We could run the back drip line by turning it on manually at the controller box, but it would not run off the timer. They replaced controller and buried the box below ground (for some reason this was never buried and the actual box just sat over the top of the controller above ground). The cost for this job was $175.

Description of Work: I had a leak in my irrigation system. I called and left a message. Within a half hour they called back and set an appointment. The service man was on time, thoroughly checked the problem and gave me an estimate. I authorized repair, he completed it quickly and the issue was solved. The problem was where one pipe fit into another. He took the time to make a better repair than had originally been there so the problem would not occur again.

 + -1 moreThe irrigation box was overflowing with water. Someone came out and "fixed" it. The next day the sprinkler system ran all day because the valve that was apparently fixed would not shut off. Someone came out and fixed it. When I came home later that day the box was overflowing with water again. I called and someone came out to take a look. They now want to charge $150 to replace the valve. I don't understand why the valve was not replaced during the first visit. No one should have to pay $270( $120+$150) to replace a valve.

When he recieved a cancellation I got a call and took the spot. Ken arrived on time he and his creww did a wonderful job, plus when they found a problem with my controll box circuit board they replaced it under warranty.  + -1 moreNot only was Justin a seasoned and very experienced professional, he was a great communicator and we felt he was genuinely customer service oriented. The labor was guaranteed by Controlled Rain and they advised us to use parts that would prove reliable for us for several years. When he tested the new system after installation, it worked flawlessly... far better than what we had before and the loud and dangerous water hammering was finally gone for good. We hate that we had to pay $370 to several other providers just to finally figure out it was an irrigation problem but we felt like the $396 that Controlled Rain charged us was very reasonable considering we upgraded the whole system to guard against future problems. Water hammer is nothing to mess around with. And thanks to Controlled Rain, prompt and top-notch, we rest easier these days.
Description of Work: Six weeks ago, we began to experience a horrible noise that shook the windows in the whole house, seemingly coming from the roof. We called in HVAC providers to check out the A/C and evap cooler on the roof ($125). All OK. Then we called in a plumber who suggested we might be hearing "water hammer" from the water pipes inside the house walls vibrating (a situation that can be disastrous if not repaired quickly). We had him repair the suspect main valve supplying water to the house ($245). He said it might also be an irrigation problem. Sure enough, the next day the thunderous noise began again. We then called Controlled Rain to check out if our irrigation system was causing it. Bingo!! Justin arrived on time the day after our call, tested a few stations, and immediately diagnosed the problem correctly. He advised that we replace not only the faulty, low-quality, off-the-shelf valves but to replace all of them with upgraded valves with proven superior performance and multi-year factory warranties. He provided an estimate for the work and we agreed. He returned the next morning with all the parts needed in hand. He replaced four valves in our back yard and two valves in our front yard. At no extra cost, he replaced a home-made shelter for the front valves by re-plumbing them inside a round, ground-level irrigation box designed specifically for that purpose. He was finished in about two hours and the final bill was exactly what he estimated.

When the day of the initial appointment arrived we were experiencing rain which would have made diagnosing the problem difficult, the tech contacted us by phone to reschedule and was also very friendly. The day of the appointment the tech arrived on time after contacting us by phone to advise he was 15 minutes away. The work was completed with a thorough explanation of services performed by the tech and he offered advice for DIY to prevent future service calls and fees. Great Angie's List find!
Description of Work: Replace irrigation valve diaphragm, adjust flow control on all valves, reset run times, and replaced section of drip line that was leaking.

My husband did not think he could repair this, so I called Controlled Rain after checking Angie's List for recommendations. I left a message on a Saturday, and had a call-back on Monday morning. A technician, Josh, was scheduled for Wednesday. Josh arrived very promptly on Wednesday, saw that we had a cracked filter which he said should just be removed, and then checked our system and fixed a couple of small problems he found. He was all done in probably about 30-45 minutes. Very professional, and we were very satisfied. We also thought the price was very reasonable.
Description of Work: Fixed leak in valve area. Checked functioning of entire lawn irrigation system. Adjusted heads and replaced 2 nozzles.
