I want to include a timeline here since it's very relevant to the follow-up section of the services performed. 1/17: I email them asking if they do ponds.1/17: They email back to say yes.1/17: I email to ask if they could make it on Friday (1/20) for an appointment.1/20: They email back to say "I don?t have anything for today but can put you down for next Friday 1/27" [yes, weird, but OK]1/27: They show up. They do a pretty good job with the cleaning and the light installation. They also claimed to have sealed the pond. Dave assures me that if it continues to leak, just let him know and they'll be back to fix it. I had already paid for their services on an Angie's List deal, but I tipped them anyway, since they *seemed* to have done a good job.1/29: I turn back on the pump for the pond (had to take it off to allow the sealant to dry). The thing is still leaking. I try to adjust things and monitor, but the leaking continues.2/02: I email them to say the pond is leaking. I say I will continue to adjust and monitor.2/10: I email them to say the pond is still leaking. I ask what we can do about this.2/17: I send a follow-up email.3/08: I send another follow-up email.3/28: I send another follow-up email.5/30: Today. It's now been almost four months since I have tried to contact this company, with no response. At the very least, this amounts to lousy customer service. At worst, they did not do the job they were paid to do, and never came back to fix it. It's really the worst of the worst that are eager to get your business, but provide poor work, and never even respond to a customer after the fact. There are a ton of landscaping folks out there -- find someone else.

Dave was very nice. They set up a time for Tuesday morning, showed up on time, and finished the job on time. The next day they came back to check on their work as well.

The transaction was described as smooth. No hitches. No surprises. The men arrived on time. The supervisor had a very good eye for details (a bonus). He saw things I did not at first. Very helpful!

he coupon was for three hours landscape service, we purchased it and made an appointment. The day of the appointment, after we took off work to be home, they called to reschedule. At that time we discussed in detail the work we wanted completed and he only wanted to do "masonry" work, not mowing, weeding, clean up, etc. RIP OFF!!!!!!

They arrived on time but from that point they only went thru the motions. Even though the Deal clearly said 3 Hours of Landscaping, the owner Mack said they would only work 1 1/2 hrs because he was free. I only asked them to clean and detail. It was very easy. When my wife asked them to a clean a couple easy areas, they flat out ignored here. They clearly did not want to be there or do the work and their attitudes reflected it. They brushed over things on the surface and did only the minimum possible. Then they left suddenly after working just over an hour without saying anything. Not goodby, no thanks...nothing, they just disappeared. Very unprofessional. Very bad experience. I would avoid this company.

Overall an excellent experience. They were punctual, did exactly what was asked of them, and very good cleanup. Nothing else around the work areas were broken, which can sometimes happen to sprinklers and things.

Owner came immediately,provided estimate. did job on time and performed well.

They came on time and discussed what needed to be done . When they completed their job, they cleaned up , leaving it looking just the way it was. Very professional , I couldn,d ask for anything more.,

I am very disappointed in Angie's List AND Builders Choice Landscaping, Inc. Angie's List sent an email for a coupon for three hours of landscaping for $99.00. I have been disappointed with landscapers I have used in the past. I thought that Builders Choice would be a good company since Angie's List submitted a coupon to it's members. I called Mr. Dygert to set an appointment. I sent him the email posted above. My yard looks untouched besides a few bushes being trimmed. The weeds are green as ever. The back yard grass has 12 inch weeds. It's a mess. Shame on you Angie's List. I guess I should have looked at ALL of the reviews before I made the purchase from Angie's List. Will I ever find an honest landscaper????

Front yard has footprints and missed weeds. The back yard only got weeds sprayed-NOT our agreement! No other work was performed in back. Perhaps if the guy hadn't had a cigar in his mouth the whole time, he could have done better. Or if the Owner stayed on property that would have helped.

Dave and his team we're always on schedule with what was discussed and the whole project only took 1 day to complete. My wife and I are very satisfied with the finished product to this point. We may have 1 or 2 plants in question that may or may not survive (due to some cold overnight temps the past month). Dave was back out for a 30 day checkup and will be coming back once more in another 2 months to make sure all the plants have taken and look healthy. Based on the final outcome, you could not go wrong with the value that Dave and his team offer, from extremely competitive pricing to speedy service and follow up.

Perfect. They came out, gave an estimate, then performed the work quickly and stayed at the price quoted.

Not great...am looking to purchase a new home and will likely not use the company again.

Dave showed up right on time and gave me an estimate right away, he did such a good job we added the lights and extended the patio bigger then we had anticipated. His crew were very professional and always asked if we were happy or would like to change anything. They made sure everything was clean before they left every day. His prices were very reasonable compared to other quotes I received. I would highly recommend this company, I will be using them again soon.

I got approximate estimates from several companies and picked Builder's Choice because they could start the soonest and they had a great Angie's List discount. Dave was very friendly and professional; he was happy to accommodate when I had to reschedule almost immediately after I made the appointment. They started early and finished the entire wall by late afternoon, to my extreme delight. The wall is straight, sturdy, and looks amazing. I would definitely hire them again!

The owner, Dave, arrived on time to discuss the project and provide us an estimate. He suggested some places to look at different types of stone as we had not yet decided of which material to construct our new wall. It took us several weeks to select a contractor and material. In the meantime, Dave was responsive to our requests for additional information. He quickly provided revised estimates for specific types of stone. Dave and his crew arrived on the day promised to begin work. We discussed with him any final instructions. The demolition of the old wall began. Throughout the course of the project, the crew worked with minimal disruption to our family. When the project was nearly complete, we had some final changes that we wanted. Dave was receptive to the changes and together with his crew made them a reality. We are very satisfied with the final product constructed by Builders Choice.

I do not report on companies I never called, never used. Please do not continue to contact me about reviewing. I review when I use the company. I don't use every (and sometimes any) companies I research. This is intrusive and annoying.Why don't you ask the question: Did you contact or use this company? before all of this stuff?

I researched and contacted 4 different landscapers from Angie's List and decided to go with Builder's Choice. I knew that each of the 4 choices would provide a quality solution but I chose Builder's Choice over the rest because of a) customer service b) responsiveness and c) price. Before I signed a contract with Dave Dygert (Builder's Choice) I had some concerns and questions that he took the time to answer and resolve. In fact, Dave visited my house 3 times before we signed the contract, each time there wasn't any pressure to sign. It was such a nice relief to know I could call him at any time to ask another question. After we signed the contract the relationship didn't change...something I was relieved to find. His team came out each day and really did a professional job. After they had installed the planter box as we agreed I asked to change the plans and extend it out a few more feet. Dave didn't hesitate and arranged to have it extended in the next few days. It was nice to work with Dave, his foreman and his crew. They were very professional each day, changed course when I changed the plans, and produced a beautiful result. THIS is why I joined Angie's List...a great honest contractor that is flexible and can produce better than expected results.

Dave Dygert, company owner, arrived on 4/11 for the appointment and seemed like a nice guy. We walked the property and went over what I had in mind. He said he had to take measurements and then would email me a quote in a few days. I went inside the house and not long afterwards I looked outside and he was gone and I hadn't even seen him go back into the back yard for measurements. I had a funny feeling I wouldn't receive a bid and when it hit 4/18 and I still didn't have that bid, I called him and he said he was still working on it and would send it in a few days. His tone of voice was somewhat tentative and I really didn't believe he would send any bid at all. Sure enough, here it is 5/12 and I have never heard from him. Just don't understand these contractors that risk their reputation with behavior like this and this is a VERY common behavior for AZ contractors!

Dave was available and involved throughout the project which was important to me. His people arrived on time, were professional, and cleaned up when they were done. There were also no cost surprises, if I asked for some additional work in the middle of the project he was very reasonably priced and accommodating.

The company is wonderful. They were very professional and did outstanding work with a clear concern for doing a high quality job. The front flagstone was very dirty and I didn't think much could be done, but they cleaned it up beautifully. In addition they proactively powerwashed the entire front patio so that the clean patio around the flagstone wall wouldn't stand out from the remaining area. In the backyard, I had been told by the installers that some mortar stains on the back pavers couldn't be removed. But Builders Choice cleaned up everything. The pavers looked better than when they were installed. They sealed everything front and back and I am delighted with the result. Not only do the pavers and flagstone look great, but it was a pleasure to have the work done by such a quality oriented company.

Fantastic. The crew of at least 6 people arrived on time at 8:30am and finished all the work by 5:15. The front plantar area looks amazing and I'm so happy when I walk out my front door or drive up to our home now. I was worried that I wasn't there to approve the arrangement of each cactus and the boulder, but the way they set it up was perfect. The dessert display in that small area is lovely and looks great from every direction. The backyard turned out amazing. They got rid of the deck and laid down a high quality artificial turf which looks likes real grass. The little gravel area that was preexisting had been filled with pink rock, debris, and leaves. They cleared everything away, leveled the dirt, and created a seamless transition from our patio to the grass to the rock. The carpentry work they did on the stairs was flawless. Additionally, upon removing the deck we discovered there were holes in the concrete wall that the deck had previously hid. We asked for a quote to repair the stucco and he gave us a very reasonable estimate. We have booked them to come back next week to repair those holes. I can't say enough about David (the owner) and Mac (the foreman). They were professional 100% of the time. The crew was respectful and professional as well. Builder's Choice cleaned up completely after themselves. It was if no one was ever there and a new back yard and front yard magically appeared.

They did a really good job. I would definitely use them in the future.

I contacted Dave about a lot of work in our backyard. I received quotes from him and a couple of other contractors for a small piece (paving a 14'X24' area) with stone pavers. His bid was 1/3 less and the work done was outstanding. (pretty simple job, just leveling some ground and installation) Very happy with the end result and would recommend him to anyone.

This large project was always done on time and always professionally. I would highly recommend Dave and his company if you want excellent results at a good price. I look forward to calling him next year to do the back yard!
