Builder's Choice Landscaping Inc

Do NOT use this company for desert landscaping. I went with this company & paid almost $9,000.00 "to remove my grass, put in a ""river bed"", 2 ""hills"", approximately 15 plants & change our sprinkler " system to soakers. I talked to the owner of the company & the salesperson/contractor before I decided to go with them. The one thing that I stressed was if I saw any grass and/or weeds within 5 years would be unacceptable (wanted to word it differently, but they wouldn't post my review). The owner said there would be some pop up around the edges & they couldn't help that. I didn't agree, but okay. When they got done & left it looked beautiful. Within 4-5 days grass/nutsedge started popping up everywhere! Plus, I started seeing the plastic too easily. I ended up calling the owner. I told him my concerns & asked him to come out. He did & I told him my concerns. He ended up sending a crew out (with no notification) to add more gravel, replace a dead plant & fix the soakers not working. However, they just sprayed the grass/weeds, which you can'tplants. I ended up sending him a professional email & letter stating that if the grass/weed situation isn't taken care of I would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, in 2 weeks, which I did. Mr. Dygert didn't bother responding to the BBB request. The BBB suggested contacting the Contractor's State Licensing Board. As of this review, I haven't but, will soon. I paid out the money to make our lives easier, NOT harder. I'm 62 years old & have had both of my knees replaced. The last thing I can do is kneel in the gravel to pull up the grass/weeds around the plants. I have personally used landscape fabric twice & had great success keeping out unwanted grasses/weeds. I don't know why a PROFESSIONAL landscaping company can't.

I'm not happy. They did nothing for us and it was a total waste of money. I merely called them up for design ideas and never got a design, it took her forever to come out and then it was just really giving me estimates. She was going to get back to me on some plans and give me some advice and once I told her I was looking for an estimate on my pool decking she did provide me with that but it took her like forever for that and then got back to me and asked me if I wanted to go ahead on it and we just decided we didn't really want to it. I got nothing for my money because anybody could give you an estimate when you call. The lady was as nice as can be but obviously just very backed up and had too many jobs she was trying to do, bid for or design for or whatever. I just felt like they were just way too busy. Maybe if they got the job I don't know if they would have been more conscientious or timely but everything took so long to get pricing on or whatever. I can't really say I could recommend them at all. She was very professional.

That was fine. They came out about ten days after the purchase. He did some additional pavers on top of the deal we purchased. They could have sealed the pavers more. They did a good job on the pavers. They didn't give me an option in what I would do with the excess dirt.

My wife and I had a professional landscape architect do a complete re-design of our front and back yard. Our yard was a complete mess full of overgrown plants and old/out-of-date hardscape. Out of all of the contractors that we used/interviewed Dave was the ONLY one that came with our plans printed out and reviewed with questions. Dave and his team are amazing. Dave made us feel as if we were his only project! When I think of Builder's Choice I think of customer service. He was willing to go pick up special trees from nurseries of my choice and even helped me out by shopping around for stones that went in the gas fireplace.

My attempts to schedule an appt were ignored. Multiple messages were left and I did not receive a reply. Angie's List issued credit towards another service.

Builders Choice did a great job installing our 8 foot grilling station. Their work was so professional that another contractor we had on site for another project - hired them after witnessing their efforts on our grill station. We even asked them to make some modifications after the fact which they did without question and without any additional costs. We also used Builders Choice for some landscaping installations and to remove a pool cover. They did excellent and reasonably priced work in all 3 instances of working for us. Don't hesitate to contact Dave and you will not be disappointed.

How did it go? FABULOUS, FABULOUS, FABULOUS !!!! Two men plus Mr. Dygert were here for nearly 3 hrs. !!! The workmanship was "perfection plus." You would never know that a thing had been done by the plumber.......and remember this was or is..right by my front door. So many companies don't want to tackle small jobs but "no problem, for Builder's Choice Landscaping. So many "THANKS" to Builder's Choice Landscaping...........you are a perfect example of professionalism.

He was fantastic and came when they said they were going to. He worked with me on the price and cleaned up after himself. Dave talked to the workers and everything looked great. He had no problem honoring the Angie's List coupon and letting me take care of the removal.

Requested quote for potential backyard remodel via Angie's list and never heard from company.

It turned out terribly. I called and they never answered so I couldn't leave a message and I called another number and I got through to the owner of the company and he told me to call the first number. I finally got through and left a message and she called me one time and I was driving and wasn't able to schedule at that time After that, every time I tried to call she never called me back. I never got serviced. Not long after I bought the deal was when I last contacted them. I would tell others to not used them. They didn't help me.

This didn't turn out too good. The purchase was for landscape design for $49, or something like that. The lady came out and it was difficult to get a hold of her and set up an appointment. Then she sent some design that basically I told her everything and she drew it out in a hand sketch kind of thing. Then I actually used the landscaping company to do some landscaping to the tune of $7000 and that did not turn out well at all. I had to redo the sprinkler system myself. They were supposed to level the yard and the yard is still not level. They were supposed to remove some grass and the grass is still growing. It was just kind of a shotty job.

The quality was great, customer service the best and I appreciated how the provider was involved in the process.

They were excellent and they re-landscape my front yard. They had so many people respond to it and I told the lady we were in a hurry. They took out all the grass ad old bushes and they put in rock and stone. They put in bushes and lined the side of our yard with stones. They also put in lights, Mediterranean plants and sprinkler. They designer gave me some ideas that I did not think of.

We had some real problems connecting for an appointment. They did not show up for one appointment, and I was a few minutes late for the second one but they were not there. At one point they said that they had an incorrect address but even though I gave her the correct address she did not make the appointment nor did she call me to reschedule or to tell me what happened.

Very good service and we are planning to use them to do the actual landscaping in the backyard in the spring.

Once we got the plan, we were underwhelmed. The plan was not creative. We chose to go in a different direction.

Nanette called, I was unable to meet with her to tell her my ideas, so we talked about it over the phone. i called her two weeks later to see if she had made any progress and she was rude on the phone saying I was not her only client. The design came in a week later. Nothing spectacular, she wanted to lay down pavers for $5000.00

It could have gone a lot better. When I purchased the deal, I was promised a call with a week to scedule an appointment. I did not receive any calls. I finally had to call the company and schedule an appointment for my landscape planning. The company owner came out and promised that I would have the plans emailed to me the next week. I still have not received any plans or drawings.

They were very good. They did a good job. The sod thing was a hard job because it was hot out there. I really liked the people that were working then. They were hardworking and they always told me what they were doing, they let me know what they were going to do, and they asked me if I had any preferences and stuff like that.

I have only good things to say about Dave Dygert's, Builders Choice Landscaping (BCL). His entire organization is very professional, responsive, and very customer focused. I went with BCL because of the high reviews on Angie's List, and because he offered all of the services I would need to complete the remodeling job at hand. The BCL services I used were Masonry (block wall), paver installation (courtyard), electrical (power routing to multiple outlets and light fixtures), stuccoing (wall and entire backyard fencing), painting (wall, and fence), formed in place curbing (for turf installation), installation of artificial turf, demolition of old brick work, installation of 20 tons of crushed rock, and installation of 500 square feet of artificial turf. I also made use of some really great suggestions that Dave provided. From start to finish, the entire project took exactly two weeks, and was completely painless. This was probably because Dave / BCL do everything they say they will do, when they say they will do it, and at every step of the process, they seek the customer's input.

NOT GOOD!! Used Dave Dygert's company in the past. Tried to use for newly purchased property. He came out, took a lot of measurements, chatted a while, said he would send a quote in the next day or two.. Weeks later, heard nothing. I had to call him!! He noted he was out of town for a few weeks and he's send a quote out that night. It is now weeks later and STILL NO QUOTE. He wasted a lot of my time..if I have to work this hard to GIVE him my money, I can only imagine how hard I would have to work to get service if there were an issue! No thanks, there are plenty of competent landscapers that would like my business..what a colossal waste of my time and effort. Thanks for nothing Dave, your lack of professionalism and decency says a lot about you--I sure am glad you showed your true colors before I spent $20K with you!

Initial contact went well. We discussed work that needed to be done right a way and a future landscaping plan. A crew came out to repair/replace irrigation. About a month later irrigation lines became exposed by animals we contacted Dave, but did not receive any response. We contacted him again when there was an underground leak and still no response. We also never received a follow up of the future landscaping plan.

Dave is outstanding to work with and delivers on the work that is contracted. The quality of his work is excellent. I will use him on other projects.

The owner, David, was very good and professional, flexible and easy to work with. The team that showed up was also good, and I definitely got my money's worth. They were a little aggressive with the pruning, which is why I took this score down from an A to a B. I also haven't ever heard back, and probably would have used them again if they reached out.
