I'm reluctant to "tag" a guy for lousy service who, to this point, has had an excellent performance record on Angie's List. Maybe there's a plausible explanation -- e.g., sick, on vacation, etc. But, if so, an appropriate change in his phone message wording would have been helpful.

I got him out of Angie's List. I thought he did excellent work. His name is Joel Pfisthner. His work was excellent and I would use him again. The garage door had broken lips from vandalism that occurred before I bought the house in 2006.The price of a new garage door depends on the kind of door you get. Replacing the circuit board cost $165.00 and the tax was about $10.00. The garage door was a 16 by 7 double steel insulated door. The price of that with tax was $954.00 and I used Angie's List discount, which was $50.00. The service was easy to arrange for. I think it's a one man company and the person seemed like an honest intelligent guy to me. The price is reasonable. I got cheaper guys, but I liked this guy and I believed in the quality of his work and his products. I didn't comparison shop so I can't rate the price. I opted to get a more expensive model garage door although I could have gotten a cheaper one. The idea of using him again was put to the test because they were separate jobs.

My garage door would not close and I didn't have time to deal with it, so called Advantage. Joel came out the same day, within a couple of hours. He determined that the sensors were misaligned, fixed that, then oiled the door and replaced the bulbs. Great experience, would absolutely recommend this company.

We came home Sunday evening and our garage door would not open, broken spring. I called Advanced that evening and left a message hoping I could be put earlier in line for Monday. Monday I waited until 9:30am and received no call so I had to call another company who came out later in the same day. Advanced Garage Door Service never did call back.

The entire experience was quick and painless.

Call for service made Saturday, service call scheduled for Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). Repair was expected to be not unusual. Confirmed in that part replacement, re-attachment and adjustment took no more than 30 minutes. Garage door now operates better than prior to the breakage.

A tenant called us on this rental and said he could not lower garage door. We called Advanced Garage Door Service and it was nothing but a good experience. Fair price, fast response, and fix the door! And, a one year warranty on the work. Would use them again for sure.

I think this is probably the only time I have ever gotten out of a repair at less than I had feared! After I described my problem to Joe on the phone, he gave a diagnosis + estimate, and scheduled me for a service call the same day. He arrived promptly, found his diagnosis on a broken gear was spot-on, and made the repair in about 20 minutes.

I was unable to open my garage door with the opener. I tried to lift it myself, to no avail. The owner answered the phone, I described the problem, he stated what it might be and told me he would be there within two hours. He arrived sooner, was quiet and well mannered, english speaking. the problem was exactly as he thought, a snapped spring which made it impossible to manually lift. Fixed quickly and without mess. He pointed out that I may soon need a new motorized opener as the motor was sounding "grinding" and gave me a reasonable price for that should I call him. I have had no problem with the door since. I will call him to install a new motor when the time comes.

Excellent service. Joey is extremely knowledgeable -- he immediately diagnosed the problem. He had it fixed in 20 minutes. He gave me advice on the maintenance of the door opener components. Our opener is nearing the end of its expected life. When it goes, Advanced Garage Door Svc. will install the next one.

Great They came out the day I called. Joey was professional and very helpful I would call them again without hesitation.

This service person was friendly, knowledgable and fast. He performed the service at a reasonable price and did a great job. I would recommend him highly.

I could not have asked for better responsiveness or better service. I would say that everyone in need of garage door service should make sure to try this company next time. You will not be disappointed.

I called after 5pm last night and left a voicemail asking if he could come out the next day. He returned my call an hour or two later and was able to set an appointment during the time I had requested. He quoted me $165 plus tax. The appt window was 1-3pm, and he called a bit after 1 to let me know he would be arriving closer to 3, which he did. He quickly assessed the problem and let me know it would only take about 30 minutes. He was done on time, the opener works great, he charged me what he had quoted, and everyone is happy.

I installed a pair of garage door openers last year but lately they have had trouble closing the doors completely. Joey came out and did a "tune-up" (my words) on the openers. Lubed the rollers and springs and pointed out other things that I could use and understand.

Called Advanced Door Service late on 4/7/10. Garage door had gone up halfway and stopped; there was only a hum. I had called another company earlier but they were 1 1/2 hrs late and had not called. Cancelled them after the office person hung up on me when I called to find out where they were and why they had not called me. Advanced Door was very responsive, said they would come out early evening if needed but there was a $45 extra charge. He asked if I had tried to manually work the door; I had not. I was able to get the door down manually and scheduled them to come the next day. I only had a 2 hr. window in between teaching my classes and they were there and fixed it, explaining everything and more. They were great!

I telephoned Joel, we set an appointment for him to look at our old garage door. He arrived on time and immediately discovered the problem with our old opener, gave us a quote on a new and better product, and scheduled installation for the next day. The next morning Tim arrived exactly as scheduled, installed the new opener, and explained its operation to us in detail.

One of our garage torsion springs broke while we were trying to open our garage door around 6:30PM. The garage door wouldn't raise so I got on Angies List and requested emergency garage door repair service companies with an A rating. I found Joel's company and I'm glad I did. I called and to my surprise he answered the phone. I explained what my problem was and he said he would come out within 2 hours and replace both torsion springs. Joel arrived around 8:15PM and replaced both torsion springs and had everything working properly by 8:45PM. I can see why Joel consistently receives such high ratings.

Right on time. Job quickly done (2 hours). Job neatly done and well-cleaned up afterward. Pleasant and professional demeanor- and had no problem explaining what he was doing. I can see why they have such a good rating on A.L.. Over all, first rate!

Garage door was malfunctioning and would not open. Technician came out promptly and quickly discovered exactly what was wrong and completed the repair quickly and inexpensively. The garage door is working better than ever.

Joel is wonderful. We had had another company come out (one that we had used before and which has high marks here on angieslist.com) and the repairman had said we absolutely had to have a new door and a new opener. Joel knew right away on the phone that we needed a second opinion based on what we told him about what the other company had said. And he was right. We did not need a new door or a new opener, we just needed someone with the experience and wisdom to know how to repair what we had. We're are so grateful to Joel for saving us $1500!! Would highly recommend you check with Advanced Garage Door before getting any work done.
