The company was great. But since I only needed one hour of labor and not two, they advised me to pay them directly and get a refund for the BD purchase. Please refund.

I purchased the deal through Angie'sList for Veteran's plumbing to include 40 gal, gas water heater delivered and installed. I received confirmation thru email and a number to call. I called immediately the next morning. Roberto answered and promised a call back. As promised, he called back within the hour and we were able to schedule the install for 2 days later. He told me he would arrive between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. He arrived on the designated day at 10:59 am. Roberto was professional, knowledgeable and explained what he would do as he proceeded. He had to replace some parts and temporarily remove a vent to place the new heater. I hadn't emptied the water from the old heater. That took some time and Roberto was prepared with his own hose. In all, it took Roberto the best of 2 hours to complete. He was very personable and trustworthy. The extra parts and time cost about $70.00 more but the peace of mind was worth it!

Veterans Plumbing came to replace the mixer valve and install new hardware in a shower plus a couple of other small items to fill the 2 hours. We had purchased the wrong kind of valve, so he was not able to complete the job, but he demonstrated how we could do it ourselves after purchasing a valve that would fit. He even suggested that we record it on a cell phone so we would have a how-to video to use later. He was very nice and helpful and clearly wanted to make the two hours we had paid for worth our while. He did complete a couple of other small jobs in the other bathroom and the kitchen, and all of the work was great. We would recommend them.
Description of Work: We had several small plumbing odds and ends that we needed a plumber's help with, so we purchased a deal offering 2 hours of work for $109 from Veterans Plumbing.

We came down one morning to find water all over our kitchen floor. After some investigation it turned out that because of the way our house was plumbed, the draining water from the upstairs shower caused a water backup into the kitchen sink and dishwasher. I called Veteran's about 9 in the morning and they told me they could have someone out around 11 a.m. I asked for the technician to give me a 30-minute lead time before coming out since I was going to need to run some errands in the meantime. The technician called about 11:30 and let me know he was on his way. He quickly confirmed the problem and set to work cleaning out the drain. He was kind enough to allow my 8-year-old to stand nearby and watch the whole process. He was very neat and took precautions to ensure he did not create any additional messes in the process of clearing our drain. As he was pulling the drain cleaning device out of the cleanout port under the sink, he made sure to use an old towel to clear it out as he removed it. This prevented the splashing of dirty water under our sink. He was very friendly and knowledgeable.

It worked out fine. They worked around our time schedule really good. They were a little bit late, but not too late. What happened was I had purchased the online deal and they told me it was going to cost more than my purchase. I bought a second one as they told me I could buy a second one. They couldn't find it. Their office said they never received it. My husband was there when they did the work and they charged him the second time. They said they wouldn't cash the check and they did and then we had to wait for a refund. So they kind of screwed that up. It was a problem with them not getting it properly or whatever. I have nothing to compare their price with so I would say it was average.

The tub/shower has really old plumbing fixtures which were dripping/leaking quite a bit. I was concerned the plumber wouldn't have the parts to repair the fixtures; he didn't, but he went to a shop in Tucson that carries the old style screws/bolts and came back to install them. Everything was done within the 2 hour time frame the plumber gave me so I was quite happy with the end results.

Paid the $125 for 2 hours for an advertised special. We made an appt for Wednesday afternoon and were told they would arrive in the afternoon. They never showed or called. So we contacted them 2 hours after the scheduled time to b e told they lost our phone number. They showed up that evening. The plumber was here for 15-20 minutes and said we needed to get a new $600 toilet due to calcification. He said he would contact his suppliers the next day to see what was available and call us. We never heard from him again. My husband treated the toilet with CLR and the toiled started flushing adequately. We did not feel like we got our money's worth.

I ultimately called someone else. The contractor was supposed to call at around 8 a.m. and be here by 9 a.m. He called at 11:30 stating that there had been an emergency and he could make it to my residence in approx. 3 hours. I can certainly understand an emergency. However, it only takes 1 minute to make a phone call, in a timely manner, to say that they would be late. Instead I was left assuming I had been forgotten. I am not unreasonable and would have understood. Calling 3 1/2 hours late is not only rude but it says that my time isn't important, at least not to them. He did apologize, which I believe was sincere, but by that time I had already contacted another plumber to do the work. I had to cancel an unrelated appt. I had for 1 p.m. in order to resolve the plumbing issue. Had he called when he promised to call I could have scheduled my afternoon appt. for the morning. But I didn't have that luxury because I sat and waited for a call and then had to line up someone else to handle the plumbing problems. The good thing is that I found a great plumber who responded within two hours and completed the work by early afternoon. All the work is done. I gave them an A rating. I would give Veterans Plumbing an F but I feel that rating should only apply to contractors who have done work poorly.

We needed to have our water heater replaced (sounded like rocks rolling around in it - we never drained/maintained it). I needed it installed on New Year's Eve, my day off. We had been quoted up to $1200, but saw the deal on Angie's List from Veterans Plumbing, and they were able to come out that day, on time, and installed a 40 gal AO Smith water heater in under an hour. Two guys, sorry I didn't get their names, very pleasant, all business, they did neat-looking work, left area clean, couldn't say enough positive things about the experience. You never know what you're going to get with an untested contractor, but we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Veterans. It gave me some confidence to see them roll up in a big panel truck that had everything on it they needed to fabricate the bits they needed to get the install done quickly and efficiently.

We purchased the Angie's List deal for 2 hours of service. In the request we noted that we were having intermittent hot water issues and needed to have a water softener installed. The serviceman came out and was able to quickly fix the issue with the water heater (there was a timer installed and it just needed to be removed). The serviceman then noted that he didn't know how to install a water softener. He referred us to a second company that would honor the 2 hour deal we purchased. The 2nd service person arrived a few days later and then tells us that he has never installed a water softener, but is sure it's not a big deal. He leaves to go get parts to install the water softener. He returns later, gets it installed. He tells us that he doesn't know how to program the water heater (even though the instructions are right there) and tells my wife that we will need to program and activate it. A few days later I followed the instructions to activate the water softener. I honestly don't know if it's actually working since the service person did not test the water or activate the water softener. In addition to all of this, he charged us for an additional 2 hours of labor (most of which were spent getting the "parts" he needed). This was a terrible experience.
Description of Work: Removed timer on our water heater and installed a water softener.

We apologize for having to send out two different technicians. The first technician was a Service Plumber, it is true that we do not install of Water Softeners, There are so many different kinds. Not that, that is an excuse for the lack of service that you have received. The rule of thumb, that we have for our plumbers is to run the Water Lines and a Drain Hose. As far as Programming and adding chemicals i.e. Salt, Pallets. We don't complete that portion of work. First of all because we are not familiar with the variety of Water Softeners in the current market. The work that was completed on the Water Heater was quick. When Work Orders are submitted we have no way to regulate or guess on time that it will take to make the repair.

When Robert returned with the new kitchen sink faucet he quickly installed it. My hat goes off to Robert for not only driving to purchase the faucet, but for his pleasant demeanor. He was kind and courteous knowing that the hours he spent helping me meant a much longer day for him, especially the day before a holiday. Thank you Robert!!!
Description of Work: Robert immediately found the problem with the kitchen sink leak, and of course with all problems occurring the day before a holiday, the resolution took Robert on a road. Yes, you heard me correctly, in order to fix the leak, we needed a new kitchen faucet. Robert drove from the Rita Ranch area to Home Depot and purchased the faucet himself. For those who are not familiar with the Rita Ranch area, it takes some time to get to a Home Depot, especially with holiday traffic.

Attempted to reset a toilet, but cracked the unit by over tightening it; then refused to take responsibility for his mistake. This was a total disaster. I felt totally screwed over by both the plumber and the "Special" offered by Angie's List, that really wasn't a special at all. And I still paid $109.00 just to get a cracked unit that wasn't cracked prior to the work. I then went to a plumbing supply store, bought a new toilet and had it installed by a plumber that THEY recommended. I feel VERY betrayed by Angie's List. I already sent another message to a different department of Angie's List that gave more detail. Please look it up.

I left a glowing review on the work done 2 days earlier. However, the problem came back and I called Veterans back out. Roberto had snaked the drains and installed new water shut-offs on 2 toilets. 2 days later the toilet would not stop running and was leaking where the new water line Roberto had put in. When I got another guy out to fix the problem he installed a new float and flapper on the toilet and tightened the water line. He was finished in half an hour, but gave me a bill for over $15. I told him that Roberto should have diagnosed it and fixed it when he was out. I told the guy that another $150 was not reasonable and that I could have bought a brand new toilet for less. After lengthy negotiation he agreed to accept $93. So, to recap, I paid $169 on Thursday for Roberto to snake the drain and install new water shutoffs. He had to change the water lines to the toilets because he did not have the right shutoffs on the truck. On Saturday they had to come back out fix Roberto's mistakes and wanted to charge me another $150 which was negotiated down to $93. So, having the drain snaked for 10 minutes and 45 minutes of labor changing 2 water cutoffs and hoses, then a callback to fix problem from the first call cost me $319. To add insult to injury, my house flooded today when I ran a load of wash. I guess the drain snaking didn't work. My original glowing review based on Roberto convincing me solved the problem (to my relief) was premature. This is the gang that couldn't shoot straight.
Description of Work: Fixed problem Roberto's work on 11-7 did not. I had called Veterans out due to a 'special' on Angies list. Mistake.

Dear [removed member name], First of all, I want to start by saying, "We are truly sorry for not meeting the expectations." Here at Veteran's Plumbing, it is our Company goal to satisfy all customers. We understand that this may not always happen, due to different personalities. On 11/07/13 Veteran's Plumbing went to your home and cleared a lateral sewer line through the roof vent. We also at your request replaced two Angle Stops, one on each Toilet. Because you were having difficulty turning the handles on and off. We also replaced both Supply Lines. Work was completed to your satisfaction and there were no leaks, On 11/09/13 (Saturday) you called our office and said you had a toilet that was leaking. The Owner of Veteran's Plumbing (Frank) went out to your home, you were told on the phone by our office there would be a charge to go out if it had nothing to do with the prior work and you agreed. Upon arrival Frank, found the leak in the Guest Bathroom Toilet. The leak was caused due to old age of the Tank to Bolt KIT(NOT THE ANGLE STOP OR SUPPLY LINE) you stated in your review. A price was given to you to make a New Repair that had nothing to due again with the prior work. Again, you agreed. Upon completion of the work you began to negotiate and try to blame the prior Tech. Please be advised had the new leak had anything to due with the prior work, We would have warrantied our Workmanship. A discount was given on the second Invoice in attempt to please you, After reading your review we don't find it fair that you changed the situation and some facts. Again, we apologize for not meeting your standards
