This is the second time we have used Tree Amigos. The first time was approx 18 months ago, to remove a very large Pine tree from a recently purchased investment property. Then, most recently, to remove a large palm tree from our property. Both experiences with the company were great. The person I spoke to on the phone for scheduling was friendly and efficient. The owner of the business came out to provide a free estimate. He was prompt and very friendly. I hired him for both jobs. They showed up a little early each time, did the work in a professional manner and most importantly, did a great job cleaning up the the debris. I would hire them again, should the need arise.

I had contacted two tree service companies, both of which were rated very highly on Angie's List. One of these companies had a message saying they wouldn't be taking calls until some future date (in a week/10 days). The message also said that nothing could be scheduled for a month!! The other company also had a voice message that said messages couldn't be returned right away. Interestingly enough, I started getting this text message with the word "Hola!", and a phone number. I ignored it, but it kept coming every 10 minutes or so. I called the number on the text message and it was a recording from a Quicken Loans!! I then got online and contacted the Tree Pros website. I received a call within a half hour from Tree Pros after I submitted my request for contact on their website. A rep from Tree Pros came out the very next day, and we wrote up the order. I was contacted the next day by a Tree Pros rep who gave me the date that they would be here to do the work (in about 4 days). The day before the work was to be done, I received another call from a Tree Pros rep who gave me the approximate range of time that two different teams of workers would arrive - one for the tree removal and the second for the stump grinding and tree planting. Sure enough, both teams were here on time as scheduled (about an hour or so apart), and they got right to work. They cleared the five trees, ground the stumps and planted the pygmy palm where I wanted it. Everything was done to my satisfaction - and what I liked most of all was that with both teams, there was a leader who contacted me at different points to inform me about what taking place and just to double check that what they were about to do was what I requested. The work areas were cleaned up before they left. A job well done!! An extra feature of working with Tree Pros is that Angie's List members get 10% off their price. Just print off the coupon for Tree Pros found on the Angie's List web site.

The service was good. Overall, they did a really nice job. They came in and did what they were supposed to do. I called them prior to purchasing the coupon to receive an estimate. I then purchased the coupon. I called them again and they said they could not honor that coupon because I had contacted them prior. However, I spoke with the owner and he honored the coupon.

The company was quick to come give us a quote and did the service right away. They did a great job on the trees. My only concern was that they didn't pick up all debris that feel from the tree during the process. We have two huge trees that had never been trim in 10 years that had intertwined together and they did a great job of cleaning them up. It gave a whole new look to our front yard.

I had a few small palms removed and one large sixty foot pine tree removed. Estimate was fine, but I had several problems. I was told the workers would show up at 6:00 am. They did not--they showed up 30 minutes early, which is a problem when you had planned on them being there later, as I had not yet had a chance to cut off the lock on my back gate (I had just moved into the house), nor had breakfast. 1. One worker immediately went to work removing my pineapple palm. It was a good thing I was there to watch them work, because I had to go and stop him from cutting it down! It was not part of the bid, and am lucky I was watching to stop him. 2. As I was watching the pine tree being removed, I was concerned about the cut branches/logs falling and damaging my house/wall/pool . . .and wouldn't you know it, the next thing I know there is a knock on my door. My pool filter is broken, hit by a falling log. Water is spraying everywhere. Really? 3. I wanted to ask the workers to remove some branches that were overhanging on my property from a neighbor's pine tree. After being deflected by the only person who spoke English to the team lead (who also had carelessly broke my pool pump) who only spoke broken English, he half heartedly removed three very small ones, and refused to do more. I said just add it onto the bill, but he would not, even though the law clearly states that anything over my property line is mine. Removing overhanging branches should not be an issue. 4. As far as the stump removal, I was not told that another crew would have to come back another day to do it, which caused further inconvenience. 5. The pool repair company assigned to repair my filter also did shoddy work, and had to come out a second time to fix it. 6. I was not given the option for having the logs left for me to split into firewood...my oversight for not asking, but they should have offered, considering it is obvious that I have a fireplace and it would save them money on disposal. It's been three years now, and I am still irritated by the hassle I went through, and upset for not using Angie's list in the first place--I might have chosen another company if better informed. The whole attitude I felt from the workers was a shoulder-shrugging "it's not my problem" attitude. Not having them speak ENGLISH was also a major problem. Amusingly, that neighbor with the pine tree removed his this year, by himself, with only a handsaw, chainsaw, and six foot ladder. He did a very good job--should of paid him to remove mine in the first place. Oh well.

The crew showed up on time after calling ahead to let me know they would be there as scheduled. They had a large truck with a shredder in tow and a crew of 4. The foreman asked me how I'd like the tree to be trimmed and was very attentive while listening to me tell him that I did not want the tree severely trimmed but shaped and thinned. The crew got right to work and had no problem with me watching while they worked. They were amazingly fast. They had the whole job done on a large 30' sisoo done in under 30 minutes. The entire site, including the street, was cleaned as if they had never been there. I would definitely recommend Tree Pro's and will use them from now on.

Did a beautiful job. Gilbert was the head guy and he was super nice, asked if we had questions while he was doing the trimming. He had a helper and then another guy at the shredder. They completed the work, cleaned everything up including leaves that were already on the ground. We are so pleased with the job, we'd recommend them to anyone.

These guys are the best. They are professional, work quickly, and the results are fantastic. Mike arrived promptly for the estimate and explained in great detail what could and couldn't be done with the tree (city regulations, health of the tree, etc.). He was pleasant to deal with and he is dedicated to customer satisfaction. The crew arrived on time and began the work immediately. They are quick to address concerns about the work and did an amazing job in a surprisingly short time. They are thorough and cleaned down to the last branch. Mike came out to check on the progress because he knew I had concerns about the scope of the work. I was extremely satisfied with the results and the way the job was managed. The bonus is these guys are very competitive in pricing. I had five estimates and they were one of the fairest prices for the amount, type of work and type of work I asked for. I recommend them for their work ethic, the quality, expertise they provide and how professional and friendly everyone was. If you are looking for excellent tree company with great workers at a good price, Tree Pros gets my highest recommendation. I won't use anyone else.

Frankly, this is a difficult review to write. It's almost as if I was reviewing two separate companies. I had an estimate done for deep root fertilization. The arborist who visited was on time and very knowledgeable. The price was competitive with everyone else I had called up to that point, and they offered the two-for-one radio special which gave them a price advantage. However, that's where the good news ends. Their office staff are the worst I've ever seen. First they did not call at all, then I called and they said that they would return a call, then I received a call at six o'clock at night saying hi you are scheduled for tomorrow morning (I could not get off of work in time)... It was a comedy of errors. A called up to that point, and they offered the two-for-one radio special which gave them a price advantage. Still, they had a decent price advantage. I came back to Angie's list and found another company called Tree Doctors North that came out and did an equally good job on the estimate, with prompt scheduling and a price that was lower than Tree Pros even with the radio special, so I took a chance and went with them. Overall, based on the potential of a price reduction due to the radio special, the skill of the arborist, with an equal amount of frustration and backsliding from a horrible office staff, I just can't see giving them an "A" on the estimate process. B" may be generous, but I think they have potential.

I called to schedule to have someone come out and give me an estimate, unfortunately they can not guarantee the time when they come out so I was not there. I normally would not do this, but they have done tree triming at my home before. So I had given instructions on what I wanted done and then I was able to talk to Jason on the phone after he had been there to make sure he quoted me a couple of different ways. I was emailed the quote the same day and it was broken out just how I wanted so I could decide what services I wanted. I then called to schedule the service and the person who took the information was very friendly and helpful. I was given the date I wanted since I wanted to be there especially since they were removing a large tree next to a very large expensive Saquaro. All went very well, they showed up in the time frame they gave me and did the work very efficiently. I told them to make sure I approved the trees before they started putting all of their tools away just in case I wanted more off, and they did come to me before they did. They also cleaned up fairly well since this is a really messy job. Since I was having a tree removed, they do that in 2 different times with the second being a separate crew with the stump grinder. But luckily I made sure when I called to make sure it would be scheduled on the same day so I could be there. ( I remember reading other reviews regarding the separate times) Luckily I was there because apparently the normal stump grinder they use is very large and heavy and the guy said it would probably leave large dark skid marks across my expensive patio of pavers which are very light colored. Since I didn't like that idea, I asked him if he had any alternatives and he said they had a much smaller grinder but that it only took the stump down about 4" or so. I was totally ok with that since I knew I wasn't going to be planting anything else in that exact area anyway. So I was really glad I was there and I was glad he gave me an alternative so as not to mark up my patio which would of been really hard to get out. So overall my experience was very good and I would definitely hire them back, my only complaint would be that I had asked them to call me when they were on there way and they didn't, but they did show up in the time frame they told me.
Description of Work: I had 3 trees trimmed, one being a very large tall Palo Verde on a hill. I also had a fairly large Ironwood removed due to it's location next to our pool and growing into a very large Saquaro.

It was a two-day service. They did the trimming and then they did the feeding of citrus trees. The oleander heads were big, about 27 feet tall, and they trimmed it back down to about 10 feet. They were punctual. They cleaned up after themselves well. As far as fertilization, they were very knowledgeable.

Response from Tree Pros
This is the first time that these concerns have been brought to our attention and I am confused as to the review written. While I do show that the member has done business with us, the only reference to the work being done is in regards to the palm trees. We trim palms to a 10-2 standard, which was listed on the estimate and the customer called us back out to have more taken off of the trees. In regards to the unreturned calls, my call log shows the following: customer requests estimate 4/21/2011. estimate scheduled for 4/25/2011. Timeframe confirmed. estimate accepted 4/25/2011. work scheduled for 4/28/2011 confirmed on 4/26/2011 timeframe for work confirmed on 4/47/2011. scheduled palm estimate 6/16/2011 estimate accepted 6/16/2011 work scheduled for 6/25/2011 confirmed on 6/17/2011 timeframe for work confirmed on 6/24/2011 call to have more fronds taken off of palms 7/7/2011 follow up call for palm trees 5/18/2012 I am guessing that the follow up call on 5/18 prompted this review. These calls are auto-logged, so I do not have more details than what the notes above show. From what I can tell, all calls were handled promptly and all work was scheduled within 24 hours of receiving approval. The palm trimming was scheduled a bit further out, as we are typically about 1 - 2 weeks out during the "palm season". I would love to hear from this member directly and to see if there is anything we can do to make this right. Clearly there is something that upset the member that caused a review to be written almost a year after service, so I would like to help in any way possible.

Execellent job from start to finish.
Description of Work: I set up a free estimate at the home show last month. Roland a certified arborist came out and gave me an estimate to have 10 queen palms and six other various hard trees serviced. One week later they sent out there crew to complete the work. They completely trimmed and removed all the dead debri on my queen palms. They trimmed my other ash and tipu trees. I had my trees deep root fertilized from dick the deep root specialist. This will help my trees flurish thourgh the hot summer months. Overall I was extremely impressed with the staff from top to bottom. The crew did a great job with my trees and the clean up was exellent. I would definately use this company again.

Wow, some of the reviews I've just read--and just having work done by them the other day--I'm wondering if we are even talking about the same company. Mike came out with an estimate, etc., for thinning 6 trees and fertilizing 5 trees, and we went with it. Frankly, they did wonderful work, even better than I expected. We have been with Tree Pros for a few years now and have considered changing, but upon talking with Mike (who really spent a lot of time listening to my concerns, and giving thoughtful feedback), they got everything just right and we couldn't be more pleased. We will stick with them. They may not be the cheapest people on the block, but perhaps you get what you pay for, and in this case they did a lot of work in a top-notch way. Now, I feel I won't need to worry about losing our trees to these confounded winds we get all the time! So our experience wasn't the same as some of the others, not at all. Tree Pros were professional and surpassed my expectations. Very pleased.

The member is a long-time customer of Tree Pros. We appreciate his feedback. Tree Pros offers stump grinding services after a tree has been removed. Typically, there will be up to an 8 in stump left after removal. We then return with a machine that will grind the stump 8-10" below grade (assuming there are no obstructions.)

This is the first time that we have used them. They had good recommendations on Angie's List. They did a lot of work for us and we really liked what they did. It was Dan who talked to us and gave us the bid. He was very prompt and very professional in what he said they do and he came over right away. It was difficult to take down that huge tree since it was in a corner of our backyard right up against our neighbor's wall and the community wall. It looks like the fir trees are doing okay. They made sure that the water was hooked up to the fir trees. They gave us the year warranty on the trees that are here. They were on time and the price was very fair. I thought that it would cost more to take down that big tree and that it would be at least double the price for the work that was involved. I thought that we got a really good deal on what they did.
Description of Work: We have used Tree Pros for tree services. They removed a huge tree and a small one. They also put in about five fir trees and dug some holes here and there in the yard for me to put some other stuff on my own. They trenched out another orange tree that we had to put in some compost and dirt around the base.

We signed the contract and paid the deposit. They said they would be their the following Monday for the tree removal and planting. They showed up on time but brought the wrong trees so they removed the queens and planted the Fan palms. Once they left we found out that the broke 2 irrigation lines. Since it was the weekend I fixed those myself. They showed up a few days later to plant the oleander trees. Once they planted one we noticed that they were oleander bushes not oleander trees like we ordered. They stopped the planting and left the one oleander bush planted, they said they could not remove it because someone else needs to do that. After quite a few phone calls and a few days we were told that they didn't even have any oleander trees! I canceled the oleander tree order and asked them to remove the bush. They scheduled the removal a week later and when the time came they were a no show. After a few calls more they rescheduled the following week. They removed the bush and that was it. During this whole 3 week process I got called by repeatedly by their finance department asking when I was going to pay. Every time I said when the work was done! I did get them to remove an extra $60 off the price for all of the issues I had with them. I was displeased with the whole process. a 4 day project turned into 3 weeks and didn't even get what I originally ordered.
Description of Work: Had tree pros come out to look at our Queen palms and other various plants to come up with a plan for a minor landscape change. The gentleman came out on time and was very pleasant. We never really liked the queen palms and he said they were in pretty bad shape and it was best to remove them . We decided to remove the 3 queen palms and plant 2 Mediterranean Fan Palms and 2 oleander trees. The estimate came in at around $900 and that included the stump removal.

This was a pretty big project with the potential for problems; aside from how labor intensive it was, there were none. The tree was to be removed on one day, the stump ground the following day in preparation for the fence guys to start trenching for a new block wall. Toby had provided an estimate last winter..I called to schedule and verify the cost at which time, knowing I was on a limited income, improved upon the original estimate. We scheduled a start soon after; they called the day before to confirm and everyone showed up on time. The removal was dramatic yet uneventful save for them having to make two trips to unload tons of very hard and heavy wood. This aspect would have been completed by mid afternoon, however one large 5x5 block of the tree trunk weighing approximately 1,000 pounds was left after the crane operator departed (due to weight restrictions on the load truck) and had to be loaded by hand. This was incredibly difficult and likely added more than two hours to the task. Regardless, the entire 4-man crew remained cheerful despite the struggle. They cleaned up very well leaving behind only several oil stains on the patio, undoubtedly from the chain saws. The crane operator, a separate contractor, also left oil spots on the driveway. Santiago headed the Tree Pros crew and was professional, friendly and accommodating. The following morning the stump guy John showed up with a four wheeled grinder. What a job as the stump had to be ground well below ground level for the fence footing. This is a pretty messy job...shavings and sawdust all over the place... but John managed to protect the cranky neighbor's pool pretty well with a screen. Grinding the stump and clean up took over seven hours. Clean up was less than perfect however I suspect this should have been a two-man job and John was spent by the time the grinding was completed. I imagine too, that I was the benefactor of utilizing one person in terms of cost. I know that the job was under estimated (and very much appreciated) considering the time and work involved, nonetheless, Tree Pros stood by their original estimate with no additional charges. I would not hesitate to recommend Tree Pros and would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: COMPLETE REMOVAL of an 85ft-tall mature eucalyptus tree approx 5-6 feet across at base, including stump grinding. Tree was huge, and there was limited access to rear yard. The tree was right on the property/fence line between two shallow yards..the back (cranky and uncooperative) neighbor has a pool just a few feet behind the tree. This required that each removed branch and trunk section be carried by a crane which was stationed in front of house, across the roof and dropped in street to chip grinder.

Overall it went good. The only thing that was a little odd was the day before the tree service was scheduled Mike the owner called me to collect the payment for the tree work that was completed. I explained to him that it wasn't scheduled until the next day. He apologized for his mistake and must of just looked at the invoice incorrectly. They did not charge my credit card until all services were completed. The other thing to know is be sure you want to use them. They do require a deposit to save the date for the work to be done. I had to pay a $50 deposit to save the date. I had no issue with this. Just keep it in mind prior to hiring them. Daniel is the Tree guy that came out and gave me an original estimate. He was a nice guy and spent time explaining everything to me. The other quotes I got they just came and gave me a quick price and left.
Description of Work: They trimmed 2 large ash trees that had not been touched in years. They also removed 1 bottle tree and stump grinded the stump out of the ground a couple days after the rest of the tree work was completed.
