Description of Work: I have used him for several projects for me and my family. He fixed my daughters garage door at 8 in the morning to get her out. He was in Hawaii once and he actually called one of his sons to come help me. He has fixed all my leaks in my house, icemaker, sink, toilet, shower, ect. I rent a house to my daughter and when we bought the house he went and took care of all the things that needed fixed. He has painted my bedroom. He even puts up my Christmas lights outside.

 + -1 moreThey did a great job. The seals on the doors (french doors -- where the doors came together there was a gap) have come apart again. I think they just need to be re-glued. The rest of the work was fantastic. I would def. call him again. He did tell me that if anything needed to be re-repaired to let me know and he'd come back and take care of it. Bad me for not calling him back.
Description of Work: Bruce and his son did the following: Closed gaps on the seals in front and back doors Installed new weatherstripping on door from laundry to garage Replaced closet door tracks Fixed leaks in sinks (the handles leaked when you turned them on and one of the spigots wasn't seated properly) Replaced two landscape lights that were broken (I think there was more, but I can't remember)

He even volunteered to research another person who does tile work at a lower rate to determine is he can save me some $. He strikes me as a very honest and capable professional, and we are still considering which course of action we want to take.
Description of Work: I called Smallman $ Sons to get an estimate to repair ceramic tile that was gradually coming up in two locations. Bruce came out the same day I called and gave me a few options to consider.

 + 0 moreHe arrived and had to go and buy what was needed. He returned promptly and installed the electrical outlet. It works great! It was a wonderful experience, just like I experienced with him when he painted a room in our house.
Description of Work: Mr. Smallman came and gave us an estimate to install an electrical outlet outside for 75-125.00. We set a time and he showed up promptly and did the work and totally cleaned up afterward.

 + 0 moreWe had an old tub/shower that was in bad shape (water was pooling in it since the low point was below the drain, chips/rusting etc) and we had put off getting it done for several years since it was our only bathroom and we had heard remodel horror stories. We finally decided to go forward and found Bruce from Smallman and Sons on Angies list. Right away I was very impressed with Bruce as he seemed to be a straight forward guy and knew what he was talking about. The quote he provide was very reasonable and we decided to go with him. We couldn't be happier with everything. They showed up everyday on time, worked quickly and efficiently, did all they could possible do to keep the dust to a minimum, and made sure they were 100% cleaned up before leaving each day. They even fixed a towel rack that was coming loose. The end result looked great and we are very pleased with our new tub and shower and would highly recommend them! Also note that the approximate amount included parts which we bought separately.
Description of Work: We had a tub/shower completely removed and replaced with a new tub and ceramic tile.

 + 3 moreBruce and his son enclosed a breakfast nook to make it into an office. He did a spectacular job. Install a ceiling fan, painting, drywall - everything that was necessary to enclose it. He is prompt, efficient and a great guy. When we moved into our home he did a multitude of things to get us going. I will can him first for any of my home repair needs. If he does't do it, he will find someone who can!! Great Work!!!

 + -1 moreBruce returned our call in good time, set appointment, which I had to cancel for unexpected travel. When I returned we rescheduled and Bruce was able to fit us in at the end of his day. Bruce also answered questions about other possible needs and was very personable.
Description of Work: We had a new dishwasher delivered but the delivery people would not stabilize it because of our granite counter-top. Bruce was confident he could get it right, and he did. While Bruce was at our home we asked him to repair a leaking water flow pipe to our pool and sprinkler system. No problem, done.

Description of Work: Smallman and Son's provided handyman services for a rental property that I owned. ( property was half a country away) I need someone I could REALLY trust. Every communication was prompt, professional, the work was completed quickly and was excellent, and his prices were more than fair. VERY VERY happy.

 + 9 moreMr. Smallman (Bruce) and his sons took only 3 days to complete 23 items. I wasn't at home about 50% of the time they were doing work inside adn outside my hosue because as it turned out I could trust them to be trustworthy and honest. When just filling the hole in the beam with wood filler over the front porch did not restore the original look to the beam, Bruce reinforced both sides of the beam with lumber pieces accordingly, but did not up the price he originally quoted me. It turned out that the bathroom drain was no easily remedied, but Bruce knew that if he cut throughout the laundry room wall he could remove the piece stuck in the pipe that was causing the tub to drain way too slowly. Bruce and his sons know how to do anything whether it be landscaping, drywall repair, electricity, carpentry, plumbing, etc. It was important for me to keep a list of everything I wanted done and what was left to do each day so everything ran smoothly. His prices are very reasonable and he and his sons go above and beyond what is required. Bruce and his sons are very easy to deal with and are very professional.
Description of Work: Smallman's did the following work for me: 1. Scrubbed and power washed lots of paint off the driveway 2. Sanded, primed, and painted the garage door 3. Stripped beam in front porch Filled hole in with wood filler Added wood to secure both sides of the beam Primed and painted the beam 4. Retrimmed 1 side of an interior door in a bedroom 5. Retrimmed dividing trim on exterior door in bedroom 6. Sanded dog bites on bedroom French doors 7. Put weather stripping around bedroom French doors 8. Turned bedroom French doors around so hinges are on the inside 9. Sanded and stained bedroom French doors 10. Removed and replaced rotten plywood on ceiling just outside patio door 11. Sanded and painted rear patio screen door 12. Repaired 4x4 post in patio entry way and installed painted screen door 13. Installed 36in metal and wood gate to enclose spa equipment 14. Installed stain-wood trim around bathroom counter 15. Installed ceiling fan in 3rd bedroom 16. Replaced arcadia doors in dining room area with new French glass doors 17. Got sprinkler system working in backyard 18. Re-screen screen door on East end of patio 19. Cut tree trunk/stump down even with ground in backyard 20. Braced and redirected palm tree in backyard 21. Fixed electricity to lamp outside arcadia door

He came and took a look at the scope of the work and gave me an estimate and was back the next day to do the work. He was punctual and the work was done quickly and professionally. These kinds of door locks are a little fussy so he had to come back a couple of times to tweak a couple of things but things were great! I would highly recommend Smallman & Sons for and kind of handyman work.
