In hot water…or lack thereof! The other morning, as I was heading off to work, I went into the garage and noticed a puddle of water by my hot water heater. Never a good sign, especially since I had just flushed it out a couple of weeks ago. It was Friday afternoon when this happened, and I wanted to make sure I could get the hot water replaced as soon as possible, as the weekend was coming. I called a couple of plumbers and most weren’t available until Monday at the soonest. I then called Smallman’s & Sons Plumbing/Home Repairs. The owner, Bruce, answered the phone and I told him the situation. He told me he could fix it this weekend for me! He recommended picking out the hot water heater I wanted from HomeDepot and to send it to him. He would pick it up and install it. It was a flat rate of $300, which seemed reasonable, especially when you have no hot water and live with four women. Bruce and his son came out Sunday morning and by 10:30am, we had hot water again! They were professional, friendly and quick! Moral of the story, never flush out your hot water heater…but if you do and get in a plumbing jam, call Smallman’s & Sons!

Bruce is quite organized and has " the vision " that thing that allows a person to see what something will look like when its finished and how it will function. Because of this I asked if he would do this remodel while we were on vacation for 16 days, he said he would. I started planing this in Feb 2016 as I was to purchase everything and have it in my garage prior to him starting, except for the tile, I did pick it out and pay for it under his account. I was able to shop for items and check with Bruce more than a few times and I have to say he is a dream to work with, he will take his time to talk to you about the choices you are making. 2 weeks prior to starting Bruce came by to look at all of the items I had purchased to make sure we had everything before he starts. I was missing a holder for the hose of the hand held shower head, I looked one up on amazon ( a great source by the way ) sent a picture to him and got his Yes thats it prior to purchase. So we were ready. He stopped by again the night before we left to mark the floor and refresh his memory on all that needed to happen. I made up a folder and had written down step by step what I wanted. I also had some rough drawings of each wall and drew what went where. Plus since we were on vacation from our retirement he was able to call whenever he needed to. He called three times, mostly to talk about a decision I had made that he thought would go better another way, he would take pictures text them to me and then call to talk about it. 2 times out of three I went with is suggestion of what to do. I received pictures after the pony wall was built and the rough tile put on the outside, I saw a grout line that didn't match up and let him know, he fixed that right away. We had a couple of can lights that would not work with the dimmer, he switched them out to another can until he could get the one that he uses and then switched them again, it turned out perfectly. Any touchups that I found were quickly taken care of, I have one light that has been lagging in delivery, should be in next week, and Bruce has assured me to just call and he will be here to hook it up. My bathroom is exactly what I had planned and a little better because of this man and his experience and vision. He and his son are reliable, honest, trustworthy and very hardworking guys, and I would do it all over again in another bathroom and call Bruce every time. How long did the bathroom take ? We got home on a Wednesday, the vanity top was installed that Friday and the glass was installed the following Friday, so just about 3 weeks to completion. Except that one light, which is no problem.

I knew about the impending shoulder surgery and was prepared to wait for my quote for 4 weeks only because of the fantastic reviews on Angie's List. My appointment for a quote was scheduled for today at 8.30am. By 8.50am I called to see if there had been a misunderstanding. Bruce told me that because of his surgery everything was taking longer than usual so he was just about to leave his house to come over to mine. If only he'd called me to tell me that, I would have understood. Instead, there was no hint of an apology for wasting my time so I asked him not to bother. I cannot work with people that assume their time is more valuable than mine. Now I have to start looking again.

The task was to replace a bathtub and the wall tiles around it. He came and took measurements and then I never heard back from him. I called him once or twice asking for my estimate and he told me that he was too busy. So I ended up giving up on him.

They were professional and courteous. Called them for quote and was provided over phone. Scheduled appointment quickly, arrived on time. Work was completed with no issues and at quoted price. Will definitely use again.

I was trying to install (DIY) a new kitchen sink and faucet. I ran into a problem when the new sink was slightly larger than the old one and wouldn't fit in the already existing hole. I am not handy when it comes to carpentry so I called Bruce and he immediately scheduled an appointment for his son to come out and do the work. Joseph was prompt and quickly resized the hole and installed the new sink, faucet, and disposal. I am very pleased with the results. Since this happened on a Friday, Joseph gave me his cell phone number to call if any emergencies came up over the Labor Day weekend. I will definitely call the Smallman's when I need additional work done.

Prompt response when I contacted them. The work was scheduled to be done a few days after I contacted them. They showed up and performed the work at the scheduled time. The attic work was hot unpleasant work crawling around and fixing things. The block footing removal was hard physical labor. All work was done well. The employees were professional and pleasant to work with.

They purchased the replacement Item. Arrived on time, did an excellent job..... made adjustments to existing opening. Came back & made fine adjustments. Installed a new electric outlet, without going into or damaging wall.

Bruce was great. Very knowledgable, prompt and completed work as estimated. Excellent work from both Bruce and his son. I would rehire them for any small construction/repair work that needed to be done. I felt they were trustworthy, gave me a fair price and did quality work.

Joe Smallman installed our new garbage disposal, and things couldn't have gone better. Joe knows his stuff and is a very pleasant man. We plan to call on Smallman & Sons for our other handyman needs. Their prices are very reasonable.

The work was amazing and the patches and perfect. Normally you can tell there has been some kind of patch, Joe (son) did an amazing job making it look just like the existing wall. I'm rating as a B because I secured the services because of their reviews and they could take MasterCard. When Joe was finished he said his dad (Bruce) had the square fob, he didn't have one so I had to pay him by check.

It looks wonderful and I would hire again.

Contacted vendor in November for a quote. I received an initial response that they would not have any availability until February, but if still interested to let them know. I replied that I was still interested in the quote and asked them to let me know when they were available to give a quote. It has been just over 2 weeks and still no response.

Bruce came right over. Did the repair. A Plumber would have cost at least $200. Bruce is my man.

I would recommend this company because they are very professional, honest, timely, and demonstrate pride it what they do.

.Not impressed. Window blinds were put up, but length of blinds were not adjusted. Evidently lacked knowledge of how to do this. Charged for installing wood trim at base of kitchen cabinet, but work was never performed.

Plumber was on time and the fix was done accurately.

I was disappointed. I had hired his son at an earlier job, and was impressed, but not so with senior Smallman. He charged more that what was quoted $50 an hour, and spent at least 1/4th of the time on his cell phone. When I questioned him regarding the bill he said that he charges more for "certain jobs". He ended up redoing one of the roller shelves because it ran into the cabinet door...it still is a problem.

I was amazed at how much Bruce & his son can do in a short amount of time -- it's obvious they have a lot of experience. What I appreciate most of all, though, is that Bruce can seemingly do anything & everything -- no need to call anyone else for anything!... We're already working on a list for next time!

They showed up on time, communicated well, did great work, and the end result was perfect for all of their work. Oh yeah, they completely cleaned all work areas and remove all trash. USE THESE GUYS! Best handyman service I've ever had by far. We'll be hiring them for future projects.

He was fast and efficient. I plan to hire them again.
