Mr. Shapira answered his phone personally and followed through to the end. He was able to locate a hard-to-find set of French doors and the job was done in a matter of days.

I called Dov to replace two entry doors in a house we recently moved into. He answered my intial call and was out to my house the next day to put together an estimate. He provided what I thought was a reasonable price and he was able to get to the work within a week. He had quoted a standard door, and after discussion with my wife we had a particular tyoe of door in mind that was special order, and he accomodated us with minimal extra cost or time to the schedule. I would definitely recommend Shapira Builders to anyone who needs door replacment.

My initial call was returned promptly. The provider, Dov Shapira, came to the home to give a written estimate. I agreed to the price, and the work was scheduled for 10 days hence. On the day of the install, Dov and his helper arrived promptly, and the old door was removed right away. The new door was installed the same day. I was very happy that there was no hole in my wall overnight. Another builder had estimated a 2-day job, and my patio door would be covered with plastic overnight. I did not want that, especially during monsoon season! I am very pleased with the quality of the work and attention to detail. The price was reasonable.

Replacing the old patio door was a challenge because the original, plastered-in, door and frame were made with heavy steel. Dov took it in stride and did a very professional job. Previously, the contractor who remodeled our home and replaced the windows had found it such a challenge that he declined to install the doors. Dov Shapira came to our rescue and took on this tough job. We are very happy with the results.

We had a badly deteriorated side door to our garage that needed replacement, including the frame. We called one vendor from Angieslist and was quoted a price too high for our taste. We next contacted Shapira Builders from Angieslist and Dov came right out to give an estimate about a third less than the previous bid. We accepted that bid and scheduled the install for the Tuesday of the next week. Dov called at the appointed time and explained that the store did not have the exact "plain" door originally planned and we could either wait until he went to another provider or he could install a more decorative door. Thus he was inadvertently a little late in arrival but we actually ended up with a more attractive door and he installed it at the same agreed price. Dov removed the old door and installed the new door with new framing, caulked the install and completed with no problems. We now have a beautiful side entry to the garage. We are very pleased with the result and the price and with the completely painless process of obtaining the quote and completing the job.

Dov did an excellent job. He was careful in speaking in depth with me about what my goals were and what the results should look like. This parcticular project required some heavy duty thought in making the cabinets. the results are fantastic, the drawers slide easily and the partitions are removable/adjustable for various equipment. One would think that an SUV manufacturer would design a cargo area, that when you fold the back seats down it would be level and useful for a sleeping area. Not Toyota, with the seats folded down, there are at least three different heights, making sleeping uncomfortable. Dove did some meticulous work in getting the the platform and its two extensions to be level, portable and something an adult could use for a sleeping platform. He went above and beyond on many areas of the project which I greatly appreciate. He frequently texted photos of progress. He used a high level of wood products and hardware making the job extremely professional, and something that will last. The whold project is designed to have modular parts, everyday use has the cabinet and drawers, and when I go camping it has the extended sleeping platform. The work was done at Dov's office, as that way he had easy access to his tools.

I called Shapiro Builders and left a message. They got back with me promptly and then gave me an estimate for the work. Within a week the work was completed. Dov was courteous and did a professional job. My large front door with sidelights was installed beautifully. The crew cleaned up the jobsite before they left. I was very satisfied with the work done and would highly recommend them.

His choice of materials was first class.and his work was excellent. We are very happy with our new doors. We plan to engage Mr. Shapira to work on additional projects in the future.

Dov was responsive to phone calls, and performed an onsite estimate within a few days. If he was going to be late (few to several minutes), he would call to inform me. He tackled four doors (different types of work) and got all operational, including a tricky pocket-door that had been damaged by previous installers. He explained the problem, what he was going to do, and he did it. I would most certainly use him again and would recommend him highly.

Both projects went very well. Dov is a well-versed-wood craftsman. He asked many questions about the project to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. He was very good about communicating with me via email and phone as to the status of the off-site work to be done. He was fair and reasonable to deal with in regards to pricing and discussion of costs. He did a very good job on both projects and I would definitely hire him again. In fact, we discussed his services for ongoing maintenance of the garage doors which I will have him do each year.

Dov is very easy to get a hold of. He is very repsonsive and I was able to communicate via text, which I like. Everything went very smooth. He came to my house one day to take measurements. He ordered the glass, came back a week later and installed it. It looks perfect. Dov is very professional and just a nice person. I will definitely use him again for future projects and recommend him to my friends.

I can't tell you how valuable it is for a single girl, living alone in a city far from family, to find a trustworthy contractor. I checked Angie's List for 3 separate companies and Mr. Shapira was the first to call back. He came out the very next day to inspect the problem. An unbelievable rainstorm hit the Valley a couple of weekends ago...the damp doormat coupled with the moisture in the air warped my door. I opened it but late on a Sunday afternoon...I couldn't get it closed again! (panic) I would call myself a practical person, and a tightwad to boot...I hate spending money on shoes, clothes, makeup. Not your typical girl but after meeting Mr. Shapira I decided not to call the other companies. He put me at ease almost immediately. It takes me months to make a decision on anything but from the start Mr. Shapira was dependable, a coveted trait. He called when he said he was going to call, he showed up on time, he scheduled me within a couple of days. THEN he called when he knew he was running late...I don't think that's ever happened!! He was kind, respectful and did a wonderful job on the project. I hope to use him again in the future and recommend you do the same.

I contacted Dov at the number provided by Angie's List in November 2012 about getting new front entry doors. The number was his cell and he answered right away. We arranged to meet and he arrived as scheduled. I wanted wooden doors as I could not find any fiberglass/steel doors that were similar to the ones already on the house and I loved my existing doors but they had just worn out after 25 years. Dov was able to find my exact doors, however they needed to be ordered from Oregon. He estimated 6-8 weeks and they arrived during that time. We then arranged a time to pick out a stain and again everything went as scheduled. Installation was seamless, at least on my end, and everything was cleaned up when he was finished. I would highly recommend Dov and Shapira Builders. I love my doors!

6 years ago, I had a new front entry door custom made and installed. It is a 42" door with small side panels with workiing windows. 2 problems had developed over the last few years. One of the door panels had warped badly and the door was no longer square in the frame. I thought I might have to replace the door completely, but thought I'd see if there was anyone on Angie's List that might be able to repair/correct the problems. That's where I got Dov Shapira's name. He came over to look at the door and figured out what could be done. He didn't think the door need to be replaced. Getting the door back to "square" was quite a project as he had to actually raise one side of the entire door assembly. He was also able to straighten out the warped panel. The door to our garage also needed to be adjusted. Dov did all that, as well as refinishing the outside of the entry door for a very reasonable, fair price. He does beautiful work, pays attention to detail and is punctual. I would definitely use Dov again and recommend him highly.

The French doors leading to our patio would not open, close or lock without great effort, we had decided to replace them. We contacted Dov to come have a look and see what he could do. He was able to repair and reuse the existing doors installing new trim and a new closing/locking mechanism. The workmanship and quality were fantastic, he arrived when scheduled, the work area was clean and the final product was exceptional, we are very pleased. We very much appreciated his creative solution, instead us buying a new door, using our current door with an upgrade saved us hundreds of dollars. When you have a project I would highly recommend giving Dov a call to consult, develop a creative solution and then letting him complete the work. He will be working at our house in the future .

Needless to say, Dov Shapira really knows what he is doing. His work was excellent. He arrived exactly on time, was very professional and offered his experience in an understandable manner. I ordered my doors from Home Depot and had them delivered prior to contacting Mr. Shapira. Dov came by a few days before installation and measured everything to see if he would need additional supplies and determined some additional lumber and molding would be required. We discussed some options for the new security door and he had excellent suggestions. His craftsmanship is remarkable. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needed his services. He uses his time well and is obviously a perfectionist. He is detailed in his work, and he works quickly. I did think his fees were higher than I expected to pay, but I have found as a homeowner, that cheaper is not always better. He is licensed and insured, so I would expect to pay a bit more than a casual handyman. If you want quality work done by someone who is setremely dependable and really knows what they are doing and is so pleasurable to work with, you won't hesitate to contact Dov Shapira. He is a true craftsman.

Dov was very easy to talk with, very professional, and was quite happy to answer our questions. He arrived on time and had everything ready to go. He took out the old door and track, replacing it with the new ones. Then he fine-tuned everything. He worked hard and was very detailed in his approach and cleanup. Overall, Dov did a beautiful job and made sure everything worked perfectly. What more can we say except that we hope to have him here again soon to work on other doors!

He brought the interior doors out for their initial "fitting" then took them away for the final finish work. The fully finished doors were installed within a week. The exterior doors were installed within one day. He arrived promptly for each of our meetings and kept me apprised of the status of the work being done. Dov does beautiful work. I've used Dov before and was very pleased with his work, so I used him again to install a new front door on our home. I ordered the door myself, although Dov provided me with both measurements and a simple drawing. (The drawing turned out to be a lifesaver because the door manufacturer screwed up, and the drawing was the proof.) Dov was responsive and did an excellent job. He is clearly skilled and is meticulous in his work. For example, he even went to the trouble of replacing the screws in the hinges that came from the door manufacturer which were surprisingly small. He temporarily removed the weatherstripping on the door so the nails holding in the door frame could be hidden behind it, etc. He was also pleasant to deal with, and the price was fair. We would use him again in a heartbeat.

I got a phone estimate from Dov Shapira, and we tentatively arranged for him to perform the work on Monday, 1/23, depending on whether Lowe's delivered the new door to me the Friday before. When that Friday arrived, the door was indeed delivered, but Lowe's had ordered the wrong door. I send Dov an email before 3pm on Friday, explaining the mistake and that I would be waiting another 10 days for the correct door; I said I needed to cancel the Monday appointment and that I wondered if he would be free on 2/6. (I could have called his cell, but I don't like to interrupt someone while they're working.) By Monday morning, I hadn't heard from him, and I was concerned he hadn't gotten my email and was going to show up. I wrote again to ask if he had cancelled that morning's appointment; this time, he responded back to say that he had hurt his back and asked for my cell phone number (he wrote back later and asked for my address, and both my cell number and address were in the same email trail). My only complaint is that his communication could have been more timely. I understand that people sometimes get injured or sick, but I didn't like being uncertain whether he got my communication in time. Except for that glitch, everything else went fine. The new door was delivered by Lowe's, Dov arrived at the appointed time the following Monday, and he worked on the door to completion. The new door fits perfectly, the weather seal is tight, and there was no mess left behind. Very high quality work at a reasonable price.

I hired Dov Shapira to replace a broken set of French doors. When he came out to the house to provide an estimate, he demonstrated knowledge of the type of work necessary to be done and the challenges associated with an older (70 year old) house. This was vastly different than my experience with other door/window companies that merely sent out a salesperson. The work was done well for a reasonable price and much quicker than any other company that provided an estimate. Mr. Shapira explained everything he would do before being hired and kept to his word and estimate. He also went above and beyond the work I hired him to do by suggesting ways to improve/repair wood furniture and carpentry in the house.

I called Dov Shapira because my front door had been kicked in and I was burlgarized. Dov arrived promptly and quoted me the price of $450.00. He was going to replace the items with new and finish off the new doorjamb. He left for almost two hours to purchase the door jamb. When he returned and looked closer at the door, he informed me that he could not fix the door completely because the door had been damaged when it was kicked in. At first he wasn't going to do the work because I obviously needed a new door, but then Dov said he would repair it temporarily. He replaced the door jam or rather the piece covering the door jam, but used all the old wood, strike plates, etc. The patch worked to secure the door/house but definitely was not, and did not have, the appearance of a finished doorjam. When Dov had finished, I asked him how much he was going to charge for the temporary fix. Dov insisted that since he had quoted me $450 initially that he was still going to charge that amount even though I would need to hire someone else for the finished product. When I protested, Dov stated that the "insurance company would pay for it anyway." I informed Mr. Shapiro that I found his remark reprehensible but I paid him the amount.

Friendly, easy to work with, quality work, offered lots of useful advice.

Dov responded to my first email contact with him in less then an hour and was here to give estamate the same day in order to accomadate our schedule evan tho he had to rearange his own schedule. Dov listened to what we had to say answered our questons and gave us two options to solve our problem. We chose the most expensive because we thought that was the best way to go. Dov did not try to infuence us either way. He arrived on the day and time that he said he would, performed the work in a very professonal manner cleaned up after the job was completed and left the work place in perfect order. I intend to have him replace another door this fall and I am confident that I will receive another professional job.
