Dov was very professional. We spoke with him twice on the phone. He had stated from the beginning that he thought he wouldn't be able to compete price-wise on the project we had because we were so far away from him that the travel time on a small project like this would be too big of a factor, but he said to get a quote or two and call him back. We did so and sure enough he said he wouldn't be able to match the price, but he spent quite a bit of time talking to us to explain a few things to look for, feedback on the bids we received and what typical market prices were for the services we were looking to have done. In the end, he spent 20-25 minutes of his time giving us some honest, no-vested interest feedback on the quotes we got and made our selection process for the contractor we're going to use a very simple activity with significant peace of mind that we are on a good path. We are very happy with the results. The doors and new trim are beautiful. Dov is honest and helpful in assisting us with decions related to the project.

The provider called to confirm our appointment on Thursday but never arrived for the visit on Saturday. No courtesy calls indicating a cancellation or need for rescheduling were received.

He did an excellent job. He responded to my call almost immediately. We booked a day and time for him to check out the situation and he completed the job when he said he would. I thought the price was a little on the high end but in the long wrong it was worth it. I would definitely hire him again.

There is a recess for the refrigerator in our kitchen bordered by cabinets on the left and top, and a wall on the right. When we shopped for a replacement, every machine we wanted was ±1/2" too tall and/or ±1/2" too wide to fit the opening. In addition, the way the doors on the new machines move, they swing to the outside of the refrigerators' footprints, which would cause them to hit the wall at right and not be openable. We needed the space to be taller and wider and the wall pulled back to permit door swing. We have known Dov for many years and used his services for a variety of pro- jects. He was thus our first telephone call. Knowing that the new refrigerator was due to be delivered within a week, the work had to be finished very quickly. Dov rearranged his schedule to accommodate us. To save time, I bought the needed materials ahead of time. Dov was able to remove and shorten the cabinet overhead enough to accom- modate the new frig. (The doors actually work better now than they did before.) I feared that we would have to undergo major surgery, removing and reframing a wall in order to pick up a lousy 1/2", but Dov came up with a quick and inex- pensive solution to widening the space: he stripped the thick drywall from the wall and replaced it with a very thin sheet of plywood, which is not visible being inside the refrigerator recess. He only needed to demo about 8" from the wall's nose, pulling it back enough for the frig's door swing to clear. He then refinished the end drywall. Best of all, except for paint, which I did the next day, the whole project took 4-5 hours. Now my wife is delighted to have the refrigerator she wanted, and we didn't have to "settle."

First of all, Dov was very responsive to my call and came out immediately to inspect and quote on the work. He helped me order the correct doors for the job and then came out additional times to discuss cost saving options. I have a pre-1940 home in one of the Historic Districts in the city. All jobs seem to be custom on this home and these doors were no exception. Dov basically rebuilt the jamb to fit the door. Then he insulated it to perfection. He even coached me on the specific oil to use on the doors to make them look the best. I liked them so much I am having him put on a new door in the back of my house too! Highly recommended!

Came out a few times to measure doors and provide estimates. Came out to Home Depot a few times to ensure everything was ordered correctly and used his truck so that saved me money on delivery. Finished up trim this morning, work is professional in appearance and functionality.

Dov was great to work with from the very start. My first phone call to Dov reached him while he was out of town on vacation. I left a message and he called me back within a couple of hours and promised to call me the next day when he got back to town. True to his word, he called me the following morning and discussed our project which initially was to install a set of double entry doors. Although we decided the doors we wanted were beyond our budget right now, we were so impressed with Dov's professionalism we hired him to install 10 new interior doors. Dov was always available by phone and returned calls/texts within hours. He made himself available to do the job within a few days, working around the schedule of other workers that were going to be at the house. We were very happy with the results - every door was adjusted perfectly. We would certainly hire him again and recommend him to anyone needing doors installed.

Dov was awesome! I called him to do the work for my elderly mother at her mobile home. He came the day I called to provide an estimate and was professional, patient and knowledgeable. He had to order a door and alter it slightly before he could do the installation but it only took a few days for him to have the door and start to work. He arrived when he said he would, worked fast and the door installations went great! We are very very happy with both doors. We will call Dov again for any woodworking, doors or carpentry work we need in the future.

It went very well. One of the old doors had been locked and unused for a long time. There was no key available which made removing it more difficult. Dov cheerfully took all difficulties in stride and did whatever was necessary to complete the job professionally.

He did a great job. He needed to adjust the trim on the inside of the bathroom door and build the doors for the niche. They are very nice and fit the design of the house so that you would never know that they were added later. He called me back right away when I called about the job and scheduled a time to come look at what I needed.

Mr. Shapira removed an out opening door and hung a well functioning in opening door. Precision job and was able to save the existing door frame.

I contacted Dov Shapira about putting in doors to separate my den/office from the rest of the home since I work from home during the day. We agreed on price and style and he then ordered the doors. After two weeks he came by the home and he and his assistant installed the door and jam and beam across the top of the doors. He came by again the next day to finish some cleanup of the drywall and plaster. His work is of excellent quality and we would work with him again in the future.

Mr. Shapiro does excellent work in a timely manner. When I called, I received back an immediate response. This is very important to me as it indicates the customer is important. We worked out details in the proposal and changed several items as things progressed. He was flexible and willing to make changes. His work ethic was GREAT! He was on time, cleaned up the area, and did a beautiful job on installing the inside/outside door trim and the door. He was focused on the job and there were no distractions. He is conscientious and a very nice person to work with. We would definitely consider Mr. Shapiro for any future work. On a short note, our part entailed buying the door, transporting it home, painting all the trim boards, and buying the hardware. It takes some effort and time, however, we wanted a certain finish on the hardware. We have not painted the door yet, but will need to prep it and paint in the future. Additionally, we disposed of the old door at the County Dump.

Dov is a craftsman...his work is meticulous and he takes both the care and time necessary to achieve results that are considerably above average. The doors he installed in our home were solid core, five panel, Shaker style doors with sharp edges outlining each panel. The cut and hanging of double doors was particularly critical to ensure proper alignment of the panels. Likewise, a pair of double closet doors were dovetailed on the edge where they meet to ensure the gap between these was made as small as possible. This guy loves his work and it shows in how he does it. We supplied the hardware, but altered some of our choices based on his advice and experience, the result is something we are extremely pleased with. The worksite, both inside and outside, was always kept tidy and clean with little trace of their having been there by the time they left. I would recommend Dov Shapira without hesitation.

Our wooden door has been a problem since we purchased our house 5 years ago. Dov recommended completely replacing it and was able to order a new one and completely installing it. He really has a great gift for detail and for the first time I like the front of our house!

We moved into a home where the previous owner remodeled using real stone on the front of the fireplace. There was no mantel and it looked unfinished. We struggled with finding someone who could deal with the stone on our fireplace. It's not flat, is real stone (not a facade) and the challenge was dealing with the topography of the rocks. We were originally going to go with a piece of distressed wood but ended up finding a ready-made mantel that was the perfect size for the area. Dov visited our house previously to talk about another project and we called him back to discuss the mantel. We sent him pictures before he arrived to describe what we were asking him to do. After brainstorming about the best way to mount the mantel on the stone, he scheduled time to come back and install it. He brought a helper with him and the project took no more than 2 hours to complete and looks fantastic. I was impressed with his skill and thankful that he was willing & able to put up the mantel we purchased. He and his associate, Dave, cleaned up after they finished.

The glass-paned, wooden door from my family room to the patio was broken, and I needed to replace it and the matching door that had been installed as a window (no hardware, no moving parts). Dov came out and looked at both of them, made notes and suggestions on how he could install new doors without changing out the door frames, but instead extending and building up the threshold and making other adjustments to the existing frames. He sent me an estimate, which was the exact cost of the project. Dov was able to start the project very quickly - I did not have to wait weeks to have the doors ordered and the project completed. The project length was two days (as he expected) - first the broken door and then the door/window. Everything was cleaned up after each day. He replaced the glass-paned, wooden doors with fiberglass doors with mini blinds between the two plates of glass. Even though I had not planned on changing out the doors until one was broken, the new doors add so much to the room - light and a much better view into the backyard. The working door opens and closes now so much better than the original door. Dov's work was excellent and the doors are beautiful. I smile each time I see them. The whole experience changed from being a hassle to something I'm glad I had done. I also asked Dov if it was possible to refinish my front door instead of replacing it. (It is original to the house and I love it, but it has seen better days). Dov gave me ideas on how to do that and the invitation to call if I had any more questions on it. I would highly recommend Shapira Builders, and have recommended them to my in-laws already.

Mr. Shapira was very responsive to my request. He clarified exactly what kind of trim I wanted, then he went out and bought the right amount. He was very flexible in scheduling the install date, working around my schedule. I did not pay him anything until the job was completed to my satisfaction, which it was.
