The tech came out and did the initial evaluation and measurements which took an hour or two. He told me where my problem areas were and later sent me a detailed recommendation on what I could do, and how much each service would cost. I chose the three items that would provide the biggest return on investment--duct sealing, new weather stripping and sealing of the front and back doors, and dramatically increasing attic insulation. When the work crew came they told me what they were going to do, and what they needed from me to ensure they had access. They were extremely pleasant to have for the three hours they were here. They even cleaned some of the ducts because they said they were really dirty. They recommended I get them cleaned, which I later did. They left a shop vac here after I reminded them not to forget it, but picked it up as soon as I called them. They also left some scraps around the front door. But that was minor compared with how careful they were inside the house and how pleasant they were.
Description of Work: They conducted a thorough energy audit and after telling me what they thought would save me the most money, I contracted with them to address the problems. They sealed all ducts, one of which had a huge hole in it. I particularly appreciated that they took before and after photos of the ducts in the attic so I could see their work. They put new seals around my doors which have made a significant difference in dust levels in the house. They also added about a foot of insulation in my attic and took before and after photos to show the difference. They measured the level of leakage in the house before and after their work and gave me a detailed report showing the differences.

Over all we were very satisfied with each crew, the owner and all personnel with which we dealt. I was surprised at the costs of both projects, thinking they were very high. As a result, we did not have all the work done they suggested. Since we did not have another bid, I have no idea if the prices were high. We may still have them back to do some of the suggested work. They are all intelligent, personable, respectful and thorough personnel. When we had a problem/question, the owner of this company called and said he wanted to do the RIGHT thing by us and would not be happy until we were satisfied. This impressed us alot! There were a few things that needed to be done differently, and they were done and we were not charged for the changes. We had an APS inspector come to review the work done, and he told us that all the work was done professionally and correctly.
Description of Work: All insulation in attic was removed and replaced. All air leaks were fixed. Second visit was to check both air conditioners for efficiency. Both projects were the result of them doing an efficiency project for APS, at our request.

Overall, both times I've worked with Reeis have gone well.
Description of Work: We contacted Reeis for a home energy audit based on the recommendation of a colleague. They came out and tested our HVAC system and found major deficiencies. Warren, their representative, sat down with my wife and me and developed a cost-effective plan for correcting some of my house's most pressing issues. All in all, we had quite a bit of work done, including re-routing ductwork and blowing in more insulation. The work was performed competently and professionally, and Warren was great at highlighting the most immediate needs and getting SRP rebates. We've since had them out for our a/c tune-up. They ended up replacing a part or two and cleaning the system. Again, this was done competently and professionally.

Member, I appreciate you taking the time to post a responds on Angie's List. I wish we could have accommodated your construction for you. Although we believe our pricing is extremely competitive, our quality standards are commonly higher than many other groups. We routinely are asked to come back and inspect work which others have performed and found that the quality of the work had an impact on the performance goals. Our goal is to provide products and services with value. A better quality product which costs a bit more, typically has a much higher value to our clients. If you are still in the market to complete the improvements, I would gladly look into your project with you. Thank you again for posting. Todd Russo President

It went well. The gentleman who performed the audit seemed helpful and knowledgeable. He was punctual, thorough, and net. We were happy with his work, though we were told we needed an advanced a/c tune-up and inspection ($169) to fully determine the energy efficiency of our home. There was a $100 rebate we could apply for to help with the a/c tune-up, but that takes eight to ten weeks to get.

Reeis was one of the companies recommended by APS for a whole house energy audit. We contacted them via their web page but when they saw an out of state telephone number they assumed a mistake on our end and did not follow up. Once we called and clarified that the house is actually in Scottsdale things progressed swiftly and they even offered two additional services (thermograph and hot water heater flushing) in addition to the audit which was great. The technician arrived on time and did a very thorough job, the subsequent report was easy to read and within the template used provided clear recommendations what we should do. Questions about the findings that we submitted via e-mail to the technician were swiftly answered which was great. However as the provided report is only partially tailored to the findings not all tasks identified and quoted by Reeis were actually doable. In our specific case we do not have an accessible attic area so duct sealing which was one of their key recommendations was actually only doable on a very limited basis. We ended up needing to point this out to the office manager who followed up with us and was highly recommending that we get the flex duct sealing done for $1700. We ended up having them seal the plenum box underneath one of our air handlers which was done very well, communication via e-mail was timely and worked very well. The related application process with APS was handled very well by Reeis and worked flawlessly, they also automatically provided us with the needed tax forms. One of the follow-up action items mentioned in the report that did not work too well was a recommendation to install fixed sun screens in front of three windows in 2nd floor. We only learned from APS that you need to go through the company that performed the audit to get work done to be eligible for related program benefits. Reeis at that stage had no company to do that work so when we finally got this clarified our file was closed and we did not get any APS support for that installation. Not a big deal but it would have been good to have this knowledge beforehand.

We met the guy (the owner I believe) back in March 2011 at the Home and Landscape show and he seemed very professional. Afterward, we contacted them to come to our house to check our AC system- the unit and our vents for leaks. The day they were supposed to come they called and said the truck broke down they were trying to find another truck- they never came and never called back to reschedule. We ended up scheduling a check with someone else. We never got an apology and never heard from them again.

Member, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Although rare, from time to time, special circumstances such as a vehicle failure will cause issues with appointment scheduling. I do see in our scheduling system that we attempted to call you and reschedule the following week. Clearly, our staff did not get in touch with you to reschedule. Even though this event was well over a year ago, I am still very disappointed that my staff didn't make further efforts to contact you to get the appointment rescheduled. I can assure you that since March 2011, REEIS has invested heavily in improved scheduling software and employee training. We have systems and protocol in place to insure that our communication is the best in the industry. Again, my apologies. Todd Russo President

The energy audit was somewhat cursory but the AC replacement estimate process was well done. The owner was very helpful and called me to discuss the issues with the energy audit and to discuss the estimate. I decided to go with another company for the A/C replacement due to a better warranty but Reiss was very close 2nd choice.

My only complaint would be that it took over 48 hours for them to respond to my request for the home energy audit. Other than that I was very pleased with their straight forward, no pressure attitude and professionalism.
Description of Work: REEis conducted a in home energy audit as advertised for $99. They were very prompt, and provided me with an detailed verbal report at the time of the inspection as well as a written emailed report. They were not pushy and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need for my house. They explained all of the tests they were conducting as they went. The nice thing about REEis is that they fill out all of the rebate paperwork for you, and they do the work themselves in order to ensure quality of work. They also have a good checks and balances system in place with the local power company to make sure they aren't sticking it to the customer or ripping off the power companies as well. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has concerns about high energy/power bills, rooms that are hot or cold, or anyone that just wants to find out if they can save a few bucks on their power bill. It was also nice to see how well my home was constructed and where corners were cut by the builders.

Energy Audit - The gentleman who performed the energy audit was very professional. He arrived on time, did his work efficiently, and took the time to go over his findings with me. He even allowed me to use his thermal imaging equipment to better understand the temperature differentials in various parts of the house such as the attic scuttle, lighting fixtures, and window frames. Added Insulation - This is where things went wrong. The "construction crew" failed to follow the stringent rules that Reeis has for minimizing the dirt and dust that blowing cellose insulation produces. They did not seal off the room where the attic scuttle was from the rest of the house. They did not wear the protective covering on their shoes. They walked throughout the house with insulation clinging to and falling from their clothes. As a result absolutely EVERY surface in our house from floor to ceiling had to be cleaned. WHAT A MESS!! In all fairness Reeis credited our bill $200 and gave us a free A/C checkup for creating the problem. My frustration was that all of this could have been avoided had the work crew just sealed off the small room that contained the attic scuttle and followed Reeis's other work protocol. Duct Sealing - Duct sealing was performed prior to blowing the insulation but has created an on-going problem. Insulation kept falling from certain air ducts for six weeks after the duct sealing. Reeis said that this was not right and sent out someone to check on it. The inspection revealed that not only had the ducts been improperly sealed, but that the construction crew had allowed excessive amounts of insulation from the attic floor to get into the duct work during the process. The gentleman who did the inspection was very professional and corrected the defective workmanship while he was there. I noticed that he and his assistant followed all the rules to keep dust and dirt to a minimum. It was then I realized how little, if any, precautions the original crew had followed. It has now been almost three months and insulation and dust continue to fall from ceiling ducts. I have no idea how much longer it will take for the ducts to finally clean themselves out. In Summary - I believe that, for the most part, Reeis is a responsible company with many professional employees and a desire to provide quality work. But I do believe that Reeis needs to work harder to guarentee that ALL employees follow their protocol for quality work and protection of the customer's property.
Description of Work: Energy Audit - Did a energy audit using a fan system that pressurized the house so that air infiltration leaks could be discovered. Also, inspected entire attic area and provided pictures to substantiate the findings. It was determined that the existing insulation had settled to the point that additional insulation was needed to bring the attic up to the recommended R value. Duct Sealing & Added Insulation - As required by SRP for their rebate program, insulation installation must be accompanied by duct sealing. The "construction crew" (Reeis's term) arrived about a week later and performed the work as contracted. The insulation used was blown celluose.

Although a construction process can result in some dust and debris in a home, we have systems in place to insure that the home is as clean or cleaner when we finished improving the home. In this circumstance, it appears that our construction crew lead did not follow protocol which resulted in a cleanliness issue. REEIS performs 100's of construction project every month and we strive to deliver the best service possible to every single customer. Part of that service includes taking precautionary measures to insure that dust and debris are sealed off from the inside of the home during the construction process. In this case, it appears that we did not live up to our high standards. I will be calling the customer personally to offer to pay to have his home professionally cleaned. A good company is not only measured by how they deliver service on a daily basis but by their actions when things occur in less than ideal circumstances. I am hopeful that I can deliver the member a resolution which resolves the inconvenience associated with the dust. I will be placing additional protocols and systems in place this week to insure this circumstance does not happen to any future clients. Mr. Todd Russo President

This company is very professional in their approach. There are certified by the utility companies to perform this energy star service, which explains the utility company's offer of a rebate. By the way, Reeis completely handles all of the paperwork for you regarding the rebate. The workers are very thorough and careful, and after all the work is complete, they perform the same leakage tests to make certain that everything has been repaired properly. It isn't cheap, but the quality of their work makes it worth the money.
Description of Work: The original cost was $99 for an energy audit. The audit turned up a number of problems including missing and/or improperly installed insulation, and the normals air leaks that are part of the heating/ac duct work. I will receive back approximately $600 back from SRP as an energy rebate incentive, and over $200 in tax incentives for having this work done, not to mention the savings from lower utility bills. My freezing master bedroom and bath is now warm and comfy.
