Hawkeye Landscaping

They got 2 or 3 locations. I just wanted to know where they're going to be when things happen and they were there. It went really, really well. They've done it within a week and the project manager, the foreman was very creative. They were quick. I wasn't very creative at all so I have to rely on them to decide everything and lay it out correctly. They did a really wonderful job. That's a good price because I have a lot of plan.

Work was done within budget and on time,, a little early actually. Gordon, Kevin and crew created a beautiful water feature for us, built three raised planters, installed high quality artificial grass, added irrigation to planters and gave us the plants we asked for. Our existing patio floor is now covered with beautiful pavers, and two new smaller patio-type spaces were created with matching pavers. We love, love, love it all!

Hawkeye responded to my bid inquiry promptly, scheduling an appointment to view the job within a week of my contacting them. Their job estimator was courteous and professional and he had several good ideas to make the BBQ Island situate nicely with my landscaping/pool. The bid that I received from them was done quickly and professionally. I ultimately decided to use a different contractor as Hawkeye's bid came in a couple thousand higher than who I ultimately chose; we were on a tight budget at this point. I do believe however, that I would have had a very nicely done BBQ area had I chose Hawkeye, if price wasn't a concern.

The technician was able to take care of the problem with the drip system. Additionally I had asked them to perform an estimate on sod vs. artificial turf in our back yard. We did not use them for the back yard work, as we decided to go with a pool remodel too. The pool company was able to do all of the work including the back yard turf.

Fantastic. Kelly gave us a very thorough estimate with everything we had planned for our landscaping project. We went over every detail with him and chose what to do now and what to push off into the future. He was very good about bringing up options that we hadn't thought of while also listening and incorporating what we wanted. The result was a plan that will serve our current purposes as well as give us room to evolve our backyard into what we'd ultimately to see as a finished project. Once we finalized the plans and accepted the quote, the crew started right on time. Kevin was fantastic to work with as the crew chief and kept us involved in what was being done and any decisions that had to be made. Kelly dropped in on several occasions to discuss the progress. They were very open to some last minute changes that we threw in. The whole crew worked extremely hard to give us exactly what we wanted and their work was exceptional. We are very happy with the final result and will definitely use Hawkeye again to add some more features in the future. I would not hesitate at all to recommend Hawkeye for any landscaping project, big or small. Kelly and Kevin and the every guy that worked on our yard has my thanks for a job very well done.

They did a great job. Were there to give estimate when they said they would be then were able to quickly schedule the crew. Cleaned the yard quickly and left no mess!

I could not be more pleased with the quality of service and professionalism that Hawkeye provided throughout this entire process. I made an inquiry on their website and received a call back the next day at 8:00 AM. I made an appointment to have Kelly come to the house and review the plans that I wanted for my backyard. He was on time and very professional. He listened and provided me with a large volume of pictures to review while he took his measurements. I was prepared with what I wanted and he was able to show me examples of everything I wanted. He provided the quote immediately that night and while it may have been foolish for me to not interview other contractors and get a comparison I do not regret my decision to hire Hawkeye on the spot. The work was started sooner than originally discussed which was great. They finished on time and there were no additional expenses added to the original quote. The day they finished I was walked through the work and was given detailed instructions on how to care for the grass and pavers and how to start and stop the fire pit. They also tested and confirmed that my existing drip system had not been damaged during the construction. I was so happy with the work I immediately contracted with them for additional services which were performed and completed within 2 days. I highly recommend Hawkeye Landscaping and especially Kelly and the great crew who gave me twice the living space of my previous yard and also made it very low maintenance. Thanks to everyone at Hawkeye and you will definitely hear from me and my friends for any yard improvements.

Hawkeye was difficult to work with, didn't put the customer first and had poor work quality. Several problems occurred and we could not trust them to do a good job/not cut corners or consult us when questions arose. When asked to fix something they would try to talk their way out of it under the assumption that we didn't know what we were talking about - one example: laying pavers at the house foundation level instead of lower than the foundation to prevent flooding. The lights along our walkway were splattered with concrete and not replaced (pending submission), half of one type of shrub was much smaller than the other half making the finished product look uneven and sloppy. The initial irrigation program flooded our yard for a few days (all plants installed were drought tolerant-low water). The pavers had significant concrete splatter because they filled in small voids with concrete instead of cutting extra pavers. The light timer broke after a few weeks and was replaced with a different type without asking - (it went from a dual automatic/manual timer to only an automatic). The grading of the yard was uneven and has high/low spots - it should be level/flat grading. There was no attention to detail and poor coordination of work. We should not have to ask for the black light posts to be replaced because concrete was splattered on them. We should not have needed to work from home to make sure things were done correctly. We paid what we thought was a premium to have good quality work done by a subject matter expert, but we ended up having to manage the project and be the experts ourselves.

We decided to use another company. Would call hawkeye again if needed any other service quotes

I can't remember the last time I had such a good experience with a service providing company! From the initial visit for an estimate, to when they wrapped, their service was beyond belief! Each & every person I dealt with, either on the phone or in person, made the experience a pleasant one, & the work provided was A+++! I can't say enough good things about Hawkeye, but they're definitely on MY "referral" list.

We loved Gordon's design. He took my ideas and made them better. Angel and his crew worked like dogs for 4 days and brought a dead yard full of rocks and bricks back to life. Gordon met me at the nursery and helped me pick out plants - he rejected the trees that were there and ended up getting them elsewhere for better quality. Our back yard is now green and colorful, with the water feature we wanted and the color and fragrance we needed. - an oasis in the desert. We will call them next fall for the front yard.

good - we thought we needed 3 new valves but Daniel (I think) said we really only needed one, so that was honest. got the job done promptly - called before arrived just as I asked.

I contacted Hawkeye Landscaping last Wednesday and was greeted by a very nice lady on the phone. She told me that I would be in Kelly's area of responsibility and that he would call me within 24hrs. Two days went by, and I got a call from Kelly, unfortunately, I was on the phone at the time so he left a message. I called back 10mins later and got his voicemail. That was five days ago and I have not heard anything since. I am working under the assumption that they are too busy to handle new clients at this time based on the positive reviews that I have seen for them on here. However, a better way to handle this would've been to just tell me up front rather than wasting my time. At this point, even if they were to call back, I am concerned about the level of attention any project that I would give them would get and cannot utilize them in the future. This is the first time that I have posted a negative review about anyone on Angie's list. This was my unique experience, yours may vary.

Did a great job, easy to deal with, we have the backyard we asked for. Would definitely hire Hawkeye Landscaping again in the future

This company must be making too much money to take on new customers. I just bought a new home and looking to make many changes. Too bad they could not answer a phone call or return a message.

Unlike some other landscape companies, Hawkeye booked me an appointment right away & even followed up with offering an earlier appointment, 5 days earlier. Great professional service and the guy who came out was able to fix my requests right away instead of having to make another appointment. I would not hesitate to recommend Hawkeye or utilize them again for future projects. :)

It was a very good experience. He was on time, nice, polite, and willing to work with our materials. I was glad that he open my eyes to a realistic budget for the job I wanted. He brought a tablet so I was able to see samples in real time, which was impressive. The estimate was more expensive, so we used someone else.

On the first appointment, Kelly came out and went around the property with me, front and back. I told him what I liked and wanted to keep and what I wanted to change. He let me sit with his Ipad and look at photos of other landscaping while he went around measuring and making sketches. Whenever I saw something I liked in the pictures, I'd show him and he worked it into his plan. He made a quick rough sketch and asked if he was on the right track. He was! After a short time, he had sketched out a new design of our existing patio area with a path to a new seating area under the existing shade tree. He did the same in the front entry. Our backyard grass area was an odd squared off shape which he proposed to make more rounded to match the rest of his design. He gave me a rough idea of plants he would use, making use of our existing plants where he could. When he left, I had a rough idea of what he planned, enough to know that I wanted Hawkeye to do the job. Our second visit was scheduled for the evening so that my husband could be there. I appreciated Kelly's flexibility. He brought samples of the pavers and detailed drawings that showed all the plants, lights and pathways in the front and back yards. He also proposed a new sprinkler timer with irrigation lines for the garden, plants and trees. Previously, we had everything on one line and our plants never looked very good. That is about to change. The first day of the job, the workers showed up at daylight and Dave introduced himself to me. From then on, he was my go-to person for any questions or concerns I had and he was always 100% available. Kelly came by each day and was also available to go over the plans and designs. Both Kelly and Dave are extremely knowledgeable and able to answer my questions and make recommendations. I wanted their advice on the design of the pavers and the plants and what would work best, yet they were also willing to work with me and listened to what I wanted. For example, a newly planted tree was in the way of what they thought would be the best placement of the new sitting area. The tree was a gift and couldn't be sacrificed, so they agreed to move it. I got to keep the tree and the sitting area was placed in the best possible position. This is just one example of how easy it was to work with them and how responsive they were to my requests. Dave and his crew started first thing in the morning and worked a full day, every day. The crew was always polite and kept their work areas neat when they left for the day. It was amazing to watch their progress over the course of the week. It was a week of oppressive heat and they worked hard busting up concrete, digging up the landscaping and then putting it all back together again. They did an amazing amount of work in a short time and it looks wonderful! The quality of their work is top notch. The week after they finished, was the week of the 1000 year storm. With almost every freeway in the valley flooded, it was a perfect chance for me to see how the new landscaping handled the water. Would it puddle against the house or make a lake in the middle of the patio? No! In fact, I hardly new there was any flooding going on while a neighbor had an inch of water creeping up to the front door. The plants, the pavers, the new lighting, everything looks beautiful and just what I wanted. Kelly was able to capture and put on paper the ideas that I had in my head. Hawkeye landscaping did a beautiful job on our yard and I will definitely use them again for any landscaping needs.

He came out and seemed annoyed that we weren't going to do the work for 6 months. Stayed about five minutes, said he was going to measure the front yard, but got in his truck and left. It was bizarre at best.

The came out last year on an angie's list big deal and did a fine job. I rehired them this year at full price for a tuneup and they did a good job again.

Kelly and his hard-working crew did a wonderful job in all aspects of our landscaping project! They always cleaned up daily. Communicating with Kelly was a breeze. We love our new back yard and wouldn't hesitate to use Hawkeye for any more of our landscaping needs!

We couldn't be more happy! We purchased a 30 year old house and the change makes it look completely different. We contacted 5 different landscape companies and received bids from 3. Hawkeye was not the cheapest or most expensive but the most willing to do what we desired. Gordon did the initial consultation and continued to oversee the project. We were so impressed with the fact that he gave us a bid on the first visit. He and his crew were exceptional, always on time, and listened to our requests. The project was complete removal of existing landscaping and installation of courtyard, pavers throughout including 2 driveways and front walk. They were professional even during times when our neighbor was rude to them without a reason. Hawkeye did not charge for the design and made helpful suggestions throughout the process. It doesn't appear they use sub-contractors which was a plus and installation was seamless. We would highly recommend them and use them in the future for landscape needs.

It went really well. It did take a while for them to contact me, but the guy was on time once the service was scheduled and the service was very inexpensive. He was also very professional and informative.

Everything went the way it should have. All appointments were on time and were on my schedule. The workers were here each morning at the exact agreed upon time.... they worked hard and had scheduled break times. If they weren't on a break, (which was not often) they were working. I made one change during the work which created quite a bit more work for them, and I thought the change order was very reasonable (actually lower than I had anticipated). We had one problem that required a call-back and they came out the very next morning and fixed it right away. Gordon and his crew were responsive, timely, reasonably priced, did exactly what I asked for, AND cleaned up each day. I am retired so I was following their progress pretty closely...... staying out of the way of course. I would recommend them highly.

It was easy to scheudle. All communication and arrivals were prompt. It took a while to get on their schedule, but that was ok for my needs. All work was competed with qualtiy.
