Frost Appliance checked out my washer thoroughly and assured me there was nothing wrong with the machine and that we evidently had a plumbing problem. During the next several months, while trying to solve a plumbing issue, I telephoned Frost Appliance on at least three occasions for information and advice on the workings of the washer, and to get their opinion of how the washing machine issue could be related to our still-unsolved plumbing problem. The Frost Appliance people are really, really nice, and really smart, and they were patient and very helpful when I called with questions and concerns. They will be my first call the next time I need service on a large appliance.
Description of Work: Frost Appliance made a service call in December 2010 in response to my belief that my washing machine was broken.

The service at Frost is top notch - scheduling was a breeze, Chad, the repairman, was prompt and very helpful. It was a simple fix and I'm glad we called Frost before giving up and buying a new dryer!
Description of Work: Our 12 yr old Kenmore gas clothes dryer was not putting out heat. The lint clean out on this model is difficult to get to (I tried!) but Chad got to it quickly and had us up and running in just a few minutes!

I first spoke to Frost on thursday last week when my stove popped a breaker and when reset it no longer worked. The woman I spoke to was lovely and said to speak to a tech call the next morning.I called back yesterday, got a gentleman on the phone and explained my situation.. he walked us through several test scenarios we could do and it turned out he was 1000% correct.. We went to home depot and bought a new breaker and its fixed. While they did not have to come out nor did they charge me, They were helpful, smart, caring and honest. they will be my forever repair group. Such honesty is so refreshing in this day and age. Don't hesitate to use them, they are wonderful.

The company sent someone out the same day I called to diagnose the problem and recommend a solution. There was no pressure to make the repair. The initial cost of diagnosis was waived if the repair was made, which I authorized. It took about 10 days for the part to arrive and the repairman made the fix at my convenience. Very professional.
Description of Work: I had a leaking front-loading washing machine caused by a torn boot at the opening. The repairman spent about an hour and a half installing a new one.

I contacted Frost Appliance as my four year old Whirlpool over the range microwave stopped heating. The gentleman assisting me on the phone with the appointment said it could be a capacitator, magnetron, or other issue within the high-voltage workings of the appliance. Seeing the microwave was fairly new and I like it, I decided to take my chances and see what would come about during the service call. Chuck, my service tech, was on time and very friendly and professional. He checked the low voltage parts and told me those parts were in order. He then explained to find out if it was a high voltage issue, he would have to remove the microwave to access that section. Chuck told me how much a new magnetron would be if it turned out it needed to be replaced. At this point I told Chuck to move forward. The end result was a loose wire that was fixed; Chuck reinstalled the microwave over the range and I was back with a working microwave. I was only charged for the $60 service call so I am very happy I did not have to purchase a new microwave for $250-$300.
Description of Work: Over the range microwave oven was removed and diagnosed as it failed to heat. A loose wire was fixed and the microwave reinstalled.

I called on Friday afternoon and got an appointment first thing Monday morning. The repairman showed up at 8:30am and looked at my problem and gave me a rough estimate -- which was a little higher than I ended up paying. He switched the shorted knob -- which took about an hour. All works.

The company had an idea what the oven needed from our conversation on the phone. Therefore, they had the needed part in advance. Told us the oven did not need to be replaced, in fact had a lot of life left. Also gave us additional information on issues with out dishwasher and recommendations (no charge).

After diagnosing the problem and providing an estimate, the service tech went on to explain the cause (summer heat - washer and dryer are located outside). He also offered his advice about repairing the current problem or replacing the washer, which I sincerely appreciated. Overall it was a great experience and I will call Frost the next time I have an appliance problem.

Refridgerator started making noise in the freezer section, They came out in a timely fashion and replaced a circuit board that was causing the fan to run at about 1/4 speed. Took entire freezer section apart before realizing it was a circuit board in the back. It took awhile but ultimately was the correct fix. It runs fine now.

I have a very old Hotpoint/Hallmark above-the-counter double oven. I have not been able to find parts for it anywhere: neither on-line or in appliance stores. The smaller oven of the two had quit working. I called Frost Appliance and described my oven and what was wrong with it. I asked them if they thought they would be able to repair such an old oven. They informed me that they would do their best but since it was not an oven they had worked on before, they could not guarantee they could fix the oven. When J (can't read the rest of his name) arrived, he told me it was rare to see that model of stove/oven. He went to work and soon had the oven fixed. I was ecstatic.

Great service, follow up calls and a nice letter a week later thanking me for choosing them and included a 10% off coupon for my next repair when needed! I will use Frost for all my repairs in the future. Thanks Angie!
Description of Work: The oven portion of our gas range was not working. I already had an idea of what was needed but lacked the time or skill to haul out my multimeter and check voltage drops in the circuit board. The gas module needed to be replaced and after the tech confirmed this with the manufacture the part was ordered and installed the next day

The repaiirman (Dave) arrived early (he called before he came to see if it was OK to come earlier). Diagnosed the problem right away that is was the board. Hecalled to see if hte part was available, which it wasn't. He ordered the part, but since it was Friday afternoon, it would not be delivered from the wharehouse until the following Monday. On Monday the company, Frost Appliance, called & told us the part came in and if it would be OK to come the next day (Tuesday), which was fine. On Tuesday Dave came on time and went right to work to install the circuit board & fuse, answered some questions we had about the dishwaher. He cleaned up after job. We would call the company for any future repairs.

The refrigerator compartment in one of my rentals was not cooling although the freezer was working fine. I called Frost and spoke with the owner, Jim. He was very nice and after asking several questions said he'd be out the same afternoon. He arrived , was very nice, emptied the freezer of food, found the problem quickly (the heater for the freezer coils had stopped working so the coils had frozen up and cold air was not being pulled into the refrigerator compartment), took out the broken heater unit and replaced it with a new one. The part was $40 (no problem). He arrived at 2 p.m. and was finished (including putting the food back in the freezer) at 2:40 pm and charged me $94.00 in labor! I asked him what he charged per hour for labor (by my math it came to $141.00 @ hour) and he said "It depends on what I do." He then went on to say that he waives the $55 service charge if he actually does the repair work and I then asked him if he thought $140 per hour was reasonable for labor. He smiled, said "I work fast" and got in his truck and drove away. If I hadn't had a client waiting for me, I never would have written the check, handed it to him and THEN looked at the breakdown on the bill--my bad. I have several rental units and was hoping I had found my new appliance repairman--sadly for him, Jim was penny wise, pound foolish. I later called several appliance repair shops and found they all had a set hourly labor charge ranging from $55-$70.
Description of Work: He unscrewed the back panel of the freezer, removed a burned out coil heater and replaced it with a new one. The heater unit clips in and out.

The dispatcher was courteous and professional, and was able to get us a next-day appointment. We were pleased with the service and the advice we got and will definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: The service technician looked at our refrigerator, diagnosed it as a freon leak problem and recommended that we not spend the $500 or so it would take to fix the leak. He added freon and only charged us $25, less than the $55 service charge we expected.

James arrived within two hours of my call and thoroughly checked it out, although he found the basic problem quickly. He explained several problems I have had with the unit in the past, which previous companies glossed over. I was gone for four days and returned to find it apparently functioned perfectly, nothing refrozen or spoiled. He warned me about a serious issue that may cause problems in the future, but advised to just keep using it as long as it works?definitely not trying to sell me anything I don't need.
Description of Work: The day I was to leave town, for a family emergency, on the Friday before a major holiday, my built-in side-by-side $ubZero clone was found running hot in both compartments, with soft ice cream and lukewarm juice.

A few weeks ago our icemaker stopped making ice. Of course, we were 3 months past the 1-year warranty. I joined Angie's List for the specific purpose of finding a refrigerator repairman. I generally only use contractors that have been referred to me - and no one I knew had any experience with a refrigerator repair company. I called Frost Appliance and they were able to send someone out that day although I wasn't able to make an appointment for a few days due to work obligations. I was given a 4-hour window and told that the repairman would call 1/2 hour before he arrived. On the day of service, the repairman, Jim, called when he was 15-20 minutes out. It took approximately an hour for him to diagnose the problem and (with my permission) secure pickup of the correct part. He also helped reset my refrigerator to help with a minor annoyance (random sections of our fridge would freeze food). He had called the Amana helpline and was told by a tech that I needed a $100 part to fix this but Jim successfully resolved the problem just by resetting the unit. A few days later, when the new icemaker was available, Jim called to let me know he could be here in 15 minutes to install it - which he did in 20 minutes. I now hear the familiar crash of ice as it drops out of the icemaker into the freezer. I would definitely recommend them.

It was very good. After we arrived home from a trip, we called this company to get an appointment because our fridge wasn't working properly. The secretary told me that they didn't have anything until tomorrow, but then she called us back an hour and a half later to let us know that they had an opening for that day. It was most appreciated that she managed to fit us in the same day that I had called because we had water everywhere from the fridge. They fixed our problem; I am satisfied with this service.
