Response from Collins Locksmith Inc
I am sorry you were not satisfied with my work. I was quite surprised with what you wrote as you did not indicate any dissatisfaction when I was done with the job. I normally get A reviews, as you can see if you look at all the other reviews posted. If you had said something at the time or called me the next day, I would have been happy to try and resolve any of your concerns. After reading your review I want to address your comments, for you and for others reading this review. You stated I broke the drum on your front door. There is nothing on a lock called a drum so I assume you are referring to the thumb turn on your front door single cylinder deadbolt, since that is what I worked on. To remind you, when I tried to take your front door lock off to rekey it, I discovered the set screw was stripped that holds the thumb turn on. This was nothing I did, it was that way before I started to work on it. I advised you that the only way to rekey the lock that day would be for me to forcibly remove the thumb turn. By doing this I also advised you that I would have to either replace the lock or replace the thumb turn. I did not have your style or color of lock in my stock, so I suggested I could get it and come back another day or you could take it to another locksmith that day. You seemed to want to have the house rekeyed that day. Because I wanted to get the job done for you, I then suggested we use the thumb turn from the garage door deadbolt that wasn’t needed since I replaced that deadbolt with a different lock that you had bought. I thoroughly explained what was going to happen and you agreed to have me forcibly remove the thumb turn from the front door lock and to use the thumb turn from the garage dead bolt to replace it. I was happy to have resolved the problem for you and you appeared to be satisfied at the time. To hear that you weren’t was very disheartening, as I believe I went above and beyond to make it work for you. You also rated me poorly in several categories, which leaves me a little perplexed. You gave me a D in price, but the price is set and you were aware of that when you purchased it from Angie’s List. You gave me a C in responsiveness, but I responded to your message the same day you bought the re-key and sent you a second message when I didn’t hear back from you. We then scheduled the job over the phone and I came on the date and time we agreed on. You gave me a D in punctuality, but I was there half an hour early, and was waiting for you when you got home from work. Again, I am sorry you were not satisfied with my work. I also want to apologize for making you feel like I was in a hurry. I did have an emergency lock out waiting for me. I didn’t anticipate your job taking so long, but I did not feel the other job was more important then you. I apologize that I made you feel you weren’t getting the service you needed. sincerely, John Collins
