C & L Tile

Chris Grillo and his crew are the best contractors I have ever worked with for any home improvement job. They were highly recommended to us in 2010 when we decided to do a large scale remodel of our home (floors, granite counter tops, sinks, plumbing, etc.). We couldn't have been more satisfied with the job they did. We recently hired Chris again when we decided to convert the master bedroom floor to tile. My previous tile choice was discontinued, but Chris pursued it on our behalf and found matching tile in AZ Tile's California warehouse for us and did the installation. The job took just a couple days and went without a hitch. It's great that he has the same guys working for him (two years later). As always he was responsive, flexible and concerned about quality. When I wasn't liking the transition pieces (from new tile to existing different tile in the master bath), he assured me we would work it out and we did. I wish I had more tile work to do around here - I wouldn't hire anyone else. I've recommended him to several friends and their reports have also been glowing. I tried to get references from friends for a company that laid tile. No one was raving about their tile job so I joined Angie's list to help me find someone that I could trust. I was very satisfied with Chris and the rest of his crew. From beginning to end they did what they said they would do. They were there when they said they would be, they were respectful, they cleaned up everything after the job was done. They were able to continue the tile from the hallway into the bedroom without having to use a border. The tile looks great! They also replaced 5 tiles from my kitchen and family room that were cracked. When I went to seal the grout I found 2 tiles that were a little off in color and I found that my eye constantly went to those tiles. I emailed Chris and he didn't hesitate, he said they would come and replace them and they did. What a great experience to find someone so easy to work with! I would definitely recommend C & L Tile to anyone. Thanks so much for making this a great experience.

Chris (the owner) is very professional and easy to work with. The men laying the tiles also were professional. My floors look great.

We had C & L Tile remove our old existing tile Floor and Fireplace, and install our new Tile with EXCELLENT Quality workmanship! The customer service we received from the beginning to the end of our project was OUTSTANDING! All the details covered. Chris the owner is very professional and provides a quality job! All of C & L's tile installers have been with him for a long time, they were all very polite & respectful of our home. They did a great job while laying the tile with nice small grout lines. This was a big decision for us as we tiled over 3/4 of our floors. From the very start we appreciated Chris's timeliness when it came to appointments and his extremely prompt response to several emails and texts that followed. As we were unsure as to exactly what tile we wanted to use Chris offered various alternatives and provided a detailed description for each choice. As there was quite a lot of demolition we were almost afraid to see what our house looked like at the end of the first day. Needless to say we were very surprised and extremely pleased at how neat and clean everything was considering the circumstances. Chrisand his team were a pleasure to work with. No request was too small or to large. We decided at the last minute to remove the sink and cabinet from our laundry room. This was not part of the original contract but when we asked Chris to remove it at the last minute his answer was simply "not a problem". Also, as the floor was being laid we noticed a couple of tiles where we did not like the shade. This had absolutely nothing to do with Chris and his teams workmanship but merely our personal preference. When we told Chris about the tiles again he said "not a problem" and immediately had his installers remove and replace them. They always showed up on time which was extremely important to us due to our busy schedules. When the floor was complete they cleaned up very nicely and placed every piece of furniture back in the right spot. We love our new floor and what could have been a challenging experience was pleasant and easy thanks to Chris. We will certainly use C &L Tile again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for excellent workmanship and reliability.

Chris, the owner, was friendly and professional from our first meeting with him and the entire job went smoothly, without any surprises. He was able to get us a wholesale price on our favorite tile so we didn't have to settle for a cheaper tile we didn't like as much. He also removed the old carpet and tile early at our convenience due to our kitchen remodel. Nick, who headed up the crew, was also very friendly and helpful. The job took 3 days just as scheduled. Each day they made sure we could still walk on certain areas so we could get around our house. They didn't have any problem with installing our tile even though the pattern we chose involved using 5 different sized pieces laid in a versailles pattern. The floor looks just awesome! Our neighbors who have seen it are very impressed too. I would not hesitate to use C&L Tile again.

I was so excited after speaking to the owner, who couldn't have been more helpful and informative. He sent out someone named, Conno/Conrad? Monday morning to measure the room we were going to put tile into. We already had one measure and estimate and were planning to go with C & L based on my interaction with the owner. Connor came in and measured the room at approximately 30 more square feet than previous. When I asked him about it, he became defensive and said, "you just saw me measure it". When I explained that we had a previous measure he became irritated but re-did an area and said, "well I just found 16 square feet, so we'll need this amount of tile". At this point, his credibilty with me wasn't so great and I thought he was asking for a bit more extra than we needed. When I asked about that he replied, "well we're not pouring concrete into the floor, we're using tile so some might break and we need extra"...well I'm 53 years old and didn't really appreciate the sarcasm or patronizing tone. So my friend in the other room (sensing the tension) asked, do you take back extra if there is any" He replied, "there won't be any"...well.....given that he had mis-measured to begin with and had one of the most patronizing/arrogant attitudes, I told him we would go with another company. My sense was that he didn't want to be asked any legitimate questions....i was surprised by his approach because the owner couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. I am self-employed and if Connor were working for me, he would be fired. First line people have to be able to interact more professionally with customers even if they don't want to be asked questions.

Chris provided a bid within a day of seeing the damaged floor. We scheduled the repair two weeks out. Chris and his team were on time and prepared for the project. Chris' team removed the damaged tile and grout (they were very conscientious of dust...much appreciated by this home owner!), prepared the surface underneath in the hopes of preventing future cracks, installed new travertine (which we provided) and grouted. They also repaired a few grout cracks that Chris spotted at the front entry. The team clean up and completed the project in less time than initially anticipated. We have other grout cracking issues...and will have Chris and team out to repair them in the near future.

From the very start Chris and his workers were always on time and very efficient in their work. And professional But above all the quality of the tile work is absolutely impeccable! The shower was mud set first and then tile was laid in an extremely talented and skilled manner! The floor and the wainscoting was also laid quite professionally. The transformation is incredible. The plumbers that Chris used were excellent, professional and very quick in completing their portion of the remodel, From the very onset, Chris was very accommodating and stayed within budget. He and his crew were very pleasant and professional. I would highly recommend C and L Tile and I would definitely call on Chris again when I would like to have additional tile work done! The entire remodeling experience was pleasant and I could not have asked for anything better.

Contacted about 5 possible contractors and got ideas and bids. Chris provided a concise bid doing exactly what I wanted. Some of the contractors wanted to do much more than was necessary. Some of the bids were 4x Chris's. Chris came out, looked at the job and quickly provided a bid. He told us where we could go and look at tile to get the best price. We had already been looking around and he was correct. Part of the design was to put a decorative band of granite as an inset. We had been looking for the granite tile but had not been able to find it. Chris found perfect matching granite.We set a date to start and his team showed up on time. The project took 6 days. The team cleaned up after themselves each day. The team scaled off the old tile and installed backer board to the ceiling to allow tile to go all the way up. There was a large glass window going into the shower. His team took extra care not to damage it. The team installed a new pan over the the old shower floor. The shower was not "square" and each tile was squared up as placed. The setters took time to make sure everything was correct. Chris came out a number of times to make sure all was going well. I would not hesitate for a moment having Chris come out to do a job again.

Contacted Chris about replacing a small area that needed to be re-tiled. Scheduled a day for free estimate - he showed up on time and gave me a fair estimate. I had him order the tile. He called me when the tile came in and scheduled a day for service with one of his guys. On the day of service, Nick showed up on time - he worked efficiently and fast and clean. Chris stopped by to make sure everything was going okay. Nice people. I highly recommend these guys.

The crew had to remove carpeting in 2 rooms and hardwood floor in another. The other two rooms needed scraped/prepared for new tile. The demo (of the wood floor) took longer than expected and we were concerned about adding an extra day. However they managed to complete the project on the original timeline. There were several people here working (thank goodness) to keep the project moving and to get it done. Crew was hardworking, punctual, knowledgeable and skilled. Chris is very responsive and easy to work with. Definitely would recommend C&L Tile.

We used Chris from C&L Tile approximately 2 months prior (for our shower stall) and his company did an amazing job. As a result, we asked Chris to give us an estamate on our kitchen floor. The price was definitely right and we knew the workmanship would be stellar. Actually, we requested the same two "gentlemen" who installed our shower floor and Chris sent both of them to complete the work in our kitchen. We were so pleased. They showed up on time every day and were professional throughout the entire process. I highly recommend C&L Tile. Our kitchen floor is absolutely beautiful. They are truly the best!

I contacted Chris as well as two other companies for bids. I had just purchased this condo as a second/retirement home and so would not be in the area when the work would actually be done. I was impressed with Chris from the start. He was on time and very professional. I had done my homework as tile flooring installation was a first for me, but was impressed with the questions and suggestions from Chris. His bid was in the middle of the three, but I felt very comfortable with my decision from the start. I purchased the tile separately and Chris picked it up. He began and completed the work on time. It took five days and Chris updated me by phone several times during the week. I saw the floor for the first time about ten days after it was installed and was extremely pleased how beautiful it looked. I will definitely use C&L Tile and Chris when I'm ready to tile my shower and tub.

We received three bids for the same job. C&L Tile was the highest bid (not by much) but Chris made the best recommendations and we felt most confident going with his company. We are so glad we did. Chris met his crew at our house on the first day to introduce everybody and run through the job and expectations. After that first day, Gil (Chris' tile guy) was at our house every morning, right on time - very professional and friendly. Gil made some great recommendations and we are so happy with the end result. We love our shower and are so impressed with C&L Tile and their staff that we will be sure to use them again for our kitchen remodel! Thank you Chris & Gil for a job well done!

We contacted Chris Grillo for an estimate. He immediately scheduled an appointment and arrived as planned. Chris is professional and personable. Dealing with him is a pleasure. He explained the entire scope of work in detail and we were immediately pleased with his services. After receiving the estimate we conducted all business matters and scheduling via email. As promised, his employees arrived on time and started work on the shower. They were very nice and accommodating. Any questions were answered professionally and we were amazed by their cleanliness. Project was completed on time (3 days) and the amount was exactly as estimated. We now have an estimate from Chris for our kitchen and plan to have the work completed in July. C & L Tile is the best!

Everything went very well. Read above for details. We can't say enough good things about Chris and his company. Good people to work with. We will definitely use them again if we ever need more tile work.

If all small business operated like C&L tile the world would be a better place. They did everything they said they would, to the schedule they said they would, exceeded my specification, and were cooperative and helpful in every way. Project took 4 1/2 days. Very pleased with the results. Will defintely use Chris again. Only complaint was removal of tile in bathroom . Since their was no window to open in the bathroom they opened window in master bedroom and the dust was over everything I should have removed my curtains and covered everything in the master bedroom. I had covered the carpet walkway and some of my furniture I should have covered everything. If you are having tile removed be prepared for dust and cover everything.

The tiles on the shower door threshold had popped off so we needed them replaced. Chris identified that the threshold should be made out of block and should be rebuilt to make sure the tiles did not pop off again once replaced. Chris was great to deal with. I was glad he was able to do this small job. I will use them again if I have tile needs.

We recently purchased a home in need of new flooring throughout. We had several contractors bid on the project. Chris was most courteous. During our initial meeting he listened carefully to what we wanted and, because of his extensive experience with the trade, gave several very helpful ideas, provided suggestions as to the best places to find material, and talked to us about the care and maintenance of both the travertine and porcelain. We never once felt pressured to use his company. Because we would be installing travertine one of our main concerns was the quality of work that would be performed. During our conversation he provided an assurance that it would be laid properly with the right precautions taken to prepare the surface before installation. After accepting his bid, he continued to guide us through the process, meeting with us a second time and also helping us choose the travertine and porcelain tile. Communication was open the entire time, Chris was always available and easy to talk to. The work took 2 weeks and went flawlessly. We had absolutely no setbacks with the job. Chris' crew was extremely courteous and worked meticulously. We had several contractors come through during the install and comment on the quality of work performed. We agree. The floor is beautiful. We will use this company again without hesitation for future remodeling jobs.

Everything came out great I had Eric he replaced the tile including two that needed to be cut to size, then he replaced the grout. I would use them again, its hard to find Tile people that will do small jobs like this.

Overall the job was excellent. The tile work was exceptional. The subcontractors used by C&L Tile (plumber) were great. There is not one thing we can find wrong with the job. We intend to use this company when we are ready to do our master bathroom.

The balcony looks great and Chris and his guys are super to work with.

We just had new doors installed and needed the tile replaced around the door thresholds. I had located C & L Tile via Angie?s List. Chris was responsive and prompt. His quote was very fair and realistic to the job. His crew arrived back as scheduled ? again punctual and they completed the work. Professionalism was also present. Chris and his crew completed the work and the outcome was excellent. We will use their services once again in the future as needed. Thank you Chris!!!
