They pretty much ripped me off. Some of the things that were communicated were not communicated very positivity.
Description of Work: They replaced the fan relay. They didn't do much else. They were going to charge me an additional $193 plus tax to clean up the water tray. To replace a 6 dollar part they were going to charge me for $393.00.

They billed me upfront for both the jobs. But it turned out they couldn’t do it for that price. So I have requested a full refund. They quoted me over $1000. I would suggest others not to pay for any service upfront. I had a hard time getting back the refund. But they did ultimately refund me what they were supposed to. So I guess they were okay but not great. I thought that they were a bit on the pricey side.

They came out to do a check of our HVAC. Everyone at the company was very polite, courteous and professional. We ended up needing to have the entire system cleaned, which the service tech did the next day -- very prompt. We would definitely use them again.

totally unreasonably priced
Description of Work: Salesman tricked my fiance into spending $1200 for a band aid fix(we still have to switch to a/c for condenser to melt coils (30 minutes +) for heat on cold day). They couldn't find part to fix it even though they charged $1200. Recommended new unit for $8-$12k! If you shop around, you find this is unreasonable for 4 ton unit.

I told the story above and don't know how to bring it done to this window. I rated the price a B only because I feel it was away to have me pay for more work.
Description of Work: I bought a coupon deal for $39.00 for a 24 point inspection of the heating service. My mistake was not copying off the 24 points that were to be done. He did look at both units, the coupon was for one which I told him is what I had and only wanted the work done that it coved, he said he always did more than the coupon was for. I truly don"t know what he did except look at the heating units. I was informed that the blower was dirty and when asked he said he didnt clean it, cost for that is $193.00 for each unit, the capacitors on both units needed to be replaced again $193.00 each. The evap coil was dirty and should be cleaned, $193.00. We should add safety switches to both units again $193.00. $1,158 was the final tally. I received two phone calls from the company the first one on how the service tech was in apperence and treating my home and me with respect, the next one informing me he had worked on 3 units and where were the rest of the coupons? I informed her that there was only one and he knew that starting the work and that was all I wanted done. She was also informed that he wanted the check the air condishing units even after we told him that had been done at the beginning of the cooling season. The caller then informed me that that cost would have been $89.00 a unit, I have 3. The sevice person indicated that was part of the coupon I paid for. Service was a 24 point heating inspection. Do copy the details of the service you are buying with a Big Deal Don't believe the pictures on a cell phone, how do you know that is your heating system. Do look at the unit yourself to see thing like dirt and ect.

This is possibly the worst experience I've ever had with a vendor. I had used their affiliated companies before (Ben Franklin and Mr Sparky) and although their prices were high the technicians were professional, on time, and courteous. I expected the same from One Hour but it was quite the opposite. I should have known when the guy called me chief and/or boss 5 times in 5 minutes that this was going to be a bad experience. I explained my problem of excessive run time and high utility bills to the technician and he starts poking around the outside. He notices some rust stains from where the pan below the evaporator coil drains. He immediately tells me that this means my evap coil is corroded because of the rust. Really? I thought they were made of copper and aluminum...which don't rust. I told mom that chemical engineering degree would come in handy. Next he checks my coolant level, which I suspected was low and informs me that I have a leak. OK, fair enough. I figured that. So he pops up into the attic and pulls apart the air handler and looks at the evap coil. There's some water in there, which is a bit rusty in color...but that's due to the steel pan its sitting in, not corrosion on the evap coil. He pops a picture with his smart phone and shows me all this "corrosion"...which looks nothing like corrosion to me. He tells me this coil needs replaced and that they are very expensive because the government banned R22. So thus far he hasn't pulled out a sniffer or any other diagnostic equipment. He hasn't gone through any basic troubleshooting whatsoever. He has told me I need a new system about 5 times...and called me chief/boss about a dozen more. I was also insulted by the ridiculous show they put on. As soon as he noticed it was low on refrigerant he calls up his supervisor and started in with this overly dramatic head shaking. He had some "for show" conversation with his supervisor that was obviously for my benefit so that I would know the extreme gravity of the situation. He phoned his supervisor at least 2 more times with the "for show" conversation. He also tells me that he can't put any refrigerant in because they know it has a leak and he could get fined eleven kajillion dollars. So then his supervisor shows up and starts with his sales pitch. I felt like I was at a used car lot, but unfortunately it was my own kitchen. They gave me two options, replace the evap coil for $3k or a new A/C and heater which starts around $9500 plus tax. Some feedback for One Hour:1) Know your audience. Some of us are reasonably well educated. I may not know how to service an A/C unit but I have an engineering degree and my father worked for a compressor manufacturer for 40 years...you can speak to me like a big boy. I deserve the respect and you would have gone a lot farther with me if you had given me my due. I can only imagine how these people treat little old ladies.2) If repair isn't your business and you only want to do new installs then advertise that way. I felt like you have no interest in troubleshooting or repairing an A/C system.3) Drop the phoney baloney "I gotta call in this code red refrigerant leak emergency immediately" for show conversations. It was entirely obvious that you were trying to convince me that I was in dire straights and the only way out was to spend lots of $$$4) Drop the send in the supervisor schtick. The car salesman tactic was entirely transparent. The only thing he didn't do was offer to negotiate on price.5) If you are going to recommend a new system you better do some troubleshooting first and demonstrate to me why a system that is fully functional needs to be junked just because it is a little low on refrigerant. Find the leak, show me it is in an inaccessible location or that you can't repair it without damaging the coil.6) Don't lie to me. Rusty colored water means a drain line is plugged. It does not mean that there's copper corrosion...copper doesn't rust "chiefee boss"...nor does aluminum. And if you are going to lie to me about how badly corroded something is, show me a picture that actually has corrosion on it. The copper wasn't even discolored. I couldn't recommend this company to anyone. They've also cost their sister companies my business.
Description of Work: Had them come out for an A/C tuneup to help with excessive run time and high utility bills during the summer.

Technician refused to clean AC evaporator coils even though we paid for a maintenance contract, and even though he cleaned the exterior condenser coils free of charge. He quoted us an outrageous $300 price to clean the interior evaporator coils, but said that he wouldn't do it because he couldn't effectively clean them without removing the evaporator from the unit, for which he wanted $883.00. My wife and I went into the attic after he left and cleaned the evaporator coils ourselves in about 20 min. with five dollars worth of coil cleaner. We have photographs of the cleaning. Technician lied by telling us that the exterior AC unit was mismatched with the interior unit, each requiring a different type of refrigerant, thereby reducing the efficiency. He said our unit was a 10 seer, but probably only operating at a seven level because of this. When we were in the attic we looked at the sticker on the side of the unit, and it clearly states that the evaporator was designed for both types of refrigerant. We have photographs of this. Technician quoted us $560.00 to replace two capacitors, which I later priced on the Internet at $8 and $30, a total of $38. It required about 5 minutes work to remove and replace either capacitor. I have the written estimate provided by the technician. While cleaning the evaporator coils ourselves, we found cardboard packing material that had been left in the air handler right next to the heat exchanger. We removed this ourselves. Technician had not made any mention of this fire hazard, although somehow he had plenty of time to take pictures of the evaporator coil with his cell phone, to try to convince us that it couldn't be cleaned in place. I have photographs of the cardboard next to the heat exchanger. We also found two large air leaks from gaps due to sloppy replacement of the access panels, neither of which were mentioned by the technician. We properly secured the panels ourselves. After repeatedly lying, technician left us with a $1500 quote for performing the work that he recommended, none of which was necessary.
Description of Work: Technician arrived to perform annual furnace inspection. He announced that because of a renewed company focus on 'customer service' he was going to inspect the AC unit as well. The only thing managed to do effectively was to clean the exterior condenser coils free of charge. The rest of the story is below.

They did and excellent work. They were on time, prompt and courteous. Their dedication towards the job was exceptional and I would recommend them to anybody. The work they did was unbelievable. They were very professional and also came back personally to meet me after two weeks. I was very pleased with their work and they were fantastic. I had no problem with them and the quote was excellent. I had got them through a contractor. I would rate them high overall and would use them again in the future.

It went very good, the technician was very professional, and explained what he was doing so that I could understand that condition of my AC system. I felt very comfortable with this company and that they were honest and reliable. I did not feel pressured into buying services that I did not need and that they would not try to sell me something that I did not need. It was an overall great experience with an AC company.

After 30 minutes he told me that the cartridge could not be removed and that to correct the problem would be a major effort and cost ($520.00) to rip out the current fixtures. I did not agree to the work when it became evident that they just wanted to sell a major water softener unit and then the current problem would be fixed for free. I contacted a plumber from Angie's List who came, removed the cartridge in a matter of minutes and replaced it. Total cost was $100.00.
