I used Arizona Discount Movers and they damaged one of my chairs. They also damaged the tile at my foyer entrance by rolling heavy items over it. They sent someone over to repair the chair which was an average job. We filed a claim form on July 8th for the tile and the chair and it took them weeks to respond to it. They sent someone over yesterday to look at the tile. The tile repairman stated that I was the one who would be paying for the work and that it would $150.00. I called Arizona Discount Movers back and they said I was responsible for paying for the repair for the damage that they caused.

We never like to hear that there is any kind of damage when moving our customers furniture. How we respond and take care of our claims is what we strive to do. We interviewed the movers involved with this move. The mover called the customer, and reminded him of what occurred the day of the move. Our movers brought to the customer's attention that there were cracks in the tile in front of the stairway. He wanted to make sure that the customer was aware that to accomplish moving the furniture we could not avoid not stepping or using the dolly on that tiled area. The possibility of the tiles cracking further were imminent. The customer agreed and the movers proceeded to move the household furniture. When the move was finished, the tile did end up cracking more, and pieces started to fall out. At this point, the movers brought again to the customers attention that now they could see why the tile was cracking. It was a contractual error. It looks as if new tile was placed over old tile. Instead of the contractor or handy man cutting the tile back so it would be level against the surface, the tile was brought out too far, causing there to be a huge gap in from the surface. You could easily fit your fingers into the gap. We have the pictures to prove this. We moved this customer on 06/28/16, and we ask for 4-6 weeks to process a claim. We had the chair fixed, and the claim processed before the 6 weeks were up. We apologize for any delays. As the customer had stated we did send out a furniture repair specialist, who repaired the chair. The chair was repaired and was done very professionally. We were also told by the customer that he was renting the house, and he stated form his own words, "My Landlord is a cheapskate". He stated the landlord did not like to repair things, and did cheap repairs to the house. Which was evident when you look at the tile job that was performed. We always do our best to be fair with our valued customers. We did bring to this customers attention that the tiles were already cracked before we started the move. We do not believe it is fair for our company to repair tile that was already cracked, and damage was impossible to avoid considering the cracks already existing in the 2 pieces of tiles. We would be more than willing to talk to the landlord on behalf of our customer to testify to the fact that the tile was installed poorly, and it falls under inherent vice. Thank you, Amy Pattenaude

Driver and 2 man crew moved our Scottsdale condo furnishings to a house in Sedona. I was prepared for the move with everything boxed which could be boxed. The guys were polite, worked well together, were careful with our belongings and worked quickly to complete our move in a short while. No breakage. No "oops" or "expletive deleteds." Move went quicker than I would have thought.

Not well. I believe the estimator did a very poor job. He did not realize how big a job it was and did not allow enough time to pack my home and unload at the other end. They were late arriving both days. One of the packers was very surly, the other ones were delightful. When I went to unpack, I couldn't find things. At the end, they were just throwing things in boxes to get it done in the one day they had to pack. They broke things, scratched my wood floors. It turns out that they forgot to pack a whole cupboard. When I finally figured it out, the landlord and got rid of everything in it when he remodeled. I made 4 phone calls after and was promised $120 that they never sent. I waited so long to do this review, because I hate negativeness, but other people need to know about my experience.

Poor service experience. I tried very hard to do business with these folks. We prefer doing business locally and I'm sorry it didn't work out.
Description of Work: I worked with this company for over two weeks to try and get a bid on an upcoming in city move. Every follow up was completed by ME or there was no communication. Waiting for the final bid today to learn (after I placed TWO calls) that "the board" is full and there is no availability on our move dates. Thank you for nothing. A pure waste of my time, which is unfortunate as I don't believe that is what this small family owned company is about. It may be time to get rid of "Uncle Jay" who doesn't appear to be pulling his weight.

They couldn't follow the instructions. I purchased this for my daughter to move her small apt. They wouldn't call the number I provided and them gave attitude when I asked them to follow the instructions and contact her. This didn't just happen once, it happened 3 times. I don't mind that there was a misunderstanding, I do mind the unprofessional nature in which they responded and behaved from that point forward. I wouldn't use them in the future, god forbid we actually had a normal size move what kind of attitude they'd have thrown at that.

From start to finish, this company is a class act to do business with. They confirmed the day before which is a stress reducer when you are at this stage of home relocation. Two trucks, 4 men showed up when promised and their hard work ethic were evident in the loading up of our boxed things. They carefully wrapped our furniture and took great care of pictures, etc. That same quality became extra apparent as things were unloaded at the new location - they took the time to rearrange furniture when asked, set up our beds and even went beyond to fix a toilet that wasn't flushing. They were great value for the money. My husband and I would highly recommend them.

This move was horrible - a living nightmare! These guys were out of control and I could not be in three places at once supervising them. At one point I had explained to Dido that moving was expensive and I was trying to control my costs. He looked me in the eyes and reassured me, 'the first two hours are free.' I had already paid ADM $280.00 for the first two hours! Their behavior and comments were unprofessional. At the very start Tony commented, 'I'm just a mover' and later, 'I'm in this a dead end job.' As far as I am concerned any work should be respected and lots of people would be glad to have a job! Justin was either on his phone or listening to music the whole time, but if you got too close it was obvious ADM needs to discuss his personal hygiene with him! At one point I discovered Justin in my bathroom DUMPING my personal care items into a huge box! I had not asked for these things to be 'packed.' These men frequently made disrespectful comments about my possessions. One was tossing a boxed Hummel from hand to hand asking me what a Hummel was. He may have thought the box was empty - fortunately the figurine inside was well protected within the box. I had taken all wall art off the walls and set the items together in my great room. I asked one of the movers how they would protect the corners. Someone mumbled something, but the bottom line is they left most of the pictures behind. So the loading continued and was taking longer than I had anticipated. Then they all got into their truck and were ready to go! I asked if they knew where they were going - yes, no problem. So they took off and I followed. They headed for the freeway and turned West while I went East which was the correct direction! My new home is about 30 minutes from my former. So I arrived at the new location and waited. I had the garage door open and my car on the street. I waited and waited. At least 30 minutes later they showed up. Had they taken lunch? I was told no, they are not allowed lunch. So where were they? And why was I charged for this time when they probably were getting lunch? They started moving things through the garage, but all of a sudden here comes Tony through the front door which I had not unlocked! I was shocked and asked him twice if the front doors had been locked. He just grinned and replied that he had other talents besides moving furniture. The front door has two locks and there is a security door as well! All had been locked and no one had unlocked those doors! So they continue unloading furniture with me saying where things should go. Towards the end Justin asked if he should put some huge boxes on a laundry room shelf. Some common sense would have helped as later I found I was unable to move the boxes one bit. Plus no labels! Then the men were in a hurry to leave. I noticed marks on a dresser. Showed them to Dido, who denied they had caused. In another room I saw the right side of a dresser shoved into the wall while the left side was 3 inches from wall. I told them, but they left without correcting. The next time Cox sent a technician I asked if he could help me re-position the dresser and he discovered the mirror has not been (still not) properly attached to dresser! I received a call from Stefanie Valdez on 12/22/15. I told her what a nightmare this move was. She very aggressively kept asking if a walk thru had been done at both locations. She demanded to know why not done at former home - because the men got in the truck and left! She demanded to know why not done at 2nd location - same situation! She asked questions and then answered them trying to put words in my mouth. Clearly she had no concern for what I had experienced. She had an excuse for everything! I requested someone to get the heavy boxes off the laundry room shelf and to move the dresser. No one ever came. So eventually I climbed up on the washer and slowly inch by inch cut the boxes and gradually removed the items until enough was out that I could move them! But when I returned to my former home I discovered these so called 'professional movers' had left behind one of the dining room chairs, the heavy leaf to the dining room table, most of my framed prints and posters, my walker, my typewriter, a portable sewing machine, three of the five speakers, the handles for a trampoline, steel storage shelves, antique children's chair, and multiple lamps. I have lost track of the number of trips necessary to retrieve my possessions. I have been moving for two months now with days in between to rest my back. Both oak book cases have been damaged with the back partially torn off on one, the other book case has multiple dings top to bottom on both sides so it obviously none of the padding commonly used to protect furniture was used. There are small dings on multiple pieces of furniture - too numerous to list. There are dings in some metal shelves and a metal filing cabinet. I had only recently purchased a Pro-Form Exercise Bike which they destroyed. The console is apparently missing because one of them cut one of the wires attaching the console to the bike. Just recently I finally was able to start unpacking boxes only to realize that some valuable wedding gifts are gone. These include a large Waterford Crystal Bowl and an Oneida Stainless Service for Twelve in a wooden silverware chest. ADM describes their movers as professional and experienced in moving heavy items such as large screen TVs, pianos and pool tables. But I found they moved my entertainment unit with the components still inside! They stuffed my rubber yoga mat inside the doors pushing into the electronics and breaking off the arm to my Dual turn table! It is possible I may have left something out of this, but be aware ADM does not supervise their employees. Obviously some of their employees are not happy and the damage to my things may have been their way of getting back at their employer. What I experienced is not how a professional move should be. My phone calls and emails to this company often have gone unanswered. At one point I was given the name of the General Manager and his extension which may or may not be correct. More excuses such as our phones go out if it rains! I have spoken with a man named Jay Robers who emailed me a damage claim form. This form asks all sorts of unanswerable questions. For example, what does a piece of damaged furniture weight? And how did you determine the weight? How would anyone be able to answer such questions? It appears they must carry some insurance that pays by weight. Sounds pretty lousy, but nothing else was offered to me. Yet I was given a document AFTER THE MOVE saying I had refused the insurance. Dido said if I did not sign he would not be paid. Now I see that this document was to be given to me to sign AT THE START OF SERVICE. It was not. Moving is stressful enough so don't make the mistake of hiring AZ Discount Movers!
Description of Work: AZ Discount Movers was hired to move my stuff from a one story condo in NW Mesa to a one story condo in a 55+ community in NE Mesa on 12/21/15. The cost was to be $280.00 for two hours of labor with three professional movers and one moving truck. A one time travel charge was included in this price. Any additional time was to be charged at $100 per hour broken into 15 min increments. ADM was to provide all moving equipment and protective materials 'to secure and protect my furniture and other items' for 'a damage free move.' Three men arrived a little early. I did not learn their names or who was the lead personr until the very end of the move. No truck was visible and I asked where was he parked. He was on the East side of my building when he needed to park on the West side. Trying to move heavy furniture to where he was parked would have been very difficult, but he was reluctant to move. So precious minutes were wasted convincing him to move the truck. I showed the movers the rooms from which stuff was to be moved. It did not include the bathroom. I had been packing and moving to my new home for days, but still had more packing to do. This was not a problem as I planned to return to my original home for cleaning and repairs. I later learned these three men were identified as Dido (the lead mover), Justin ('the white guy'), and Tony W.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond accordingly. It must be said that we perform approximately 4000 moves per year and in the rare instance that a negative review arises we take ownership and respond professionally, truthfully and without bias or contempt. However, upon reading this review and interviewing all of the ADM employees brought to question, I must express my utter frustration at the idea of responding to the sheer number of absurd and contrived allegations presented by our troubled Customer. Even though we will try to be brief, we apologize ahead of time for the length of our response. It is imperative for us however, to shed light on the absurdity of some of the more serious accusations presented. Based on the items listed and description of the move verbally provided by [Member Name Removed], we estimated her move would be approximately $280. Due to the Customers meandering information provided, the initial phone call to book the job was a struggle at best and took one hour to complete. On move day we hand-picked three of our most experienced and fastest movers to move [Member Name Removed]. It was clear from the start that she was not ready for the movers to be there. The crew proceeded to pack her bathroom, but [Member Name Removed] told them to not pack anything because she was going to pack all of the boxes herself to save money. In addition, she could offer no consistent direction for the movers as the move progressed while making it clear to the crew that she was on a tight budget and was too busy to give them direction. When implored, she would reluctantly give some direction, but it was conflicting. The ADM driver called the office no less than three times out of frustration. At no time was the crew disrespectful, rude, out of control or unprofessional. The 10 ton fully loaded diesel truck did not arrive at the destination at the same time as [Removed Member Name] ’s compact car, as to be expected. When the crew did arrive at the destination they proceeded into the unlocked home through the garage. One of our crew entered through the unlocked front door and was met by [Member Name Removed]. When asked how he got in through two locked doors he jokingly implied he had skills to get in. The very idea that he was even capable of picking two locked security doors, or why he would want to, is ridiculous. For [Member Name Removed] to say that the doors were not unlocked and our crew member picked them is just as ridiculous. In an attempt to be brief I will respond in short to the remainder of the overwhelming and confusing two page review. There was no wasted time on the job. The crew moved quickly, even with little to no direction. The Customer was not ready, and had much more items and furniture than she told us when booking the move. The Customer could not make up her mind about what to leave behind and what to take, and would give conflicting directions to each mover. The Crew did not speak negatively about ADM or negatively about their jobs. However, the crew was reprimanded for grumbling about the circumstances of the job they were attempting to perform. None of the boxes were labeled, as per the Customer, who was insistent on saving time. She rushed the crew out and did not perform a walk through. The Customer called the office and spoke with Stephanie, who is the least aggressive person I know. Stephanie asked the Customer pertinent questions about the move and was met with side stepping of the issues and constant changing of the subject. At no time was Stephanie rude or disrespectful, even when attempting to keep the Customer focused on a question. We did send a damage claim form to the Customer but it was never returned. The sheer number of damages that she lists in the review is preposterous at best, but we will address each of them if the claim form is returned. To suggest that the crew purposely damaged items to get back at ADM is unfathomable, and frankly… puts her mindset in perspective. We always go the extra mile to make sure our valued Customers are taken care of fairly and accordingly. We pride ourselves on maintaining our reputation as a trustworthy and honest Company that puts the Customer and integrity first. We will wholeheartedly attempt to rationally and patiently conduct a dialog with our Customer to address the pertinent and legitimate issues. Arizona Discount Movers moved my mother from one senior community to another on Monday, November 30, 2015. Eddie and Jonathan W. were prompt, kind, professional, thorough, courteous, and efficient. Everything arrived intact and undamaged; everything came with us that was supposed to; and they worked cheerfully even as we had them move several difficult, awkward pieces of furniture to two or three locations within the apartment. I always call Arizona Discount Movers when any family member or I need help in moving. They have always been very careful with our belongjngs, worked quickly and completed the job without any problems. They have also always been early. If they tell you they will be at your place at noon, don't be surprised to get a call at 10. I would highly recommend them.

When I scheduled the movers I specifically asked if they could set up the beds and hook up the washer and dryer and I was told yes. The movers were nice and efficient but told me the company doesn't allow them to set up anything unless they actually packed me up. I was charged a minimum of two hours but it only took an hour since they didn't help me set anything up or even remove the shrink wrapping. Very bad communication. I would not recommend them unless you get everything in writing ahead of time.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond. First and foremost we must apologize to our valued Customer. The scope of this move was to unload a rental truck that was prepped and loaded by another moving company. When unloading any move it is our policy to unwrap and set up all furniture at the destination. In addition, upon a shipper’s request we will hook up most electric appliances, upon signing of a simple waiver. The Crew in question informed us that they were concerned about the potential of bearing liability for pre-existing damages, and told us they were instructed to not worry about removing shrink wrap from specific items. Even though our Customer described our Crew as pleasant and professional, and tipped them well… the fact remained, however, that our Customer was not satisfied with her move outcome. Had we received a call, at the time of the move, we would have instructed the Crew to remove ALL of the shrink-wrap and set up ALL of the furniture and appliances requested. Additionally, that day we had many crews available that could have been dispatched to finish the job properly. Upon learning of her dissatisfaction, almost a week after the move, we immediately refunded her the one hour of unloading time logged by our Crew. We assured her that her move was not up to par with our ‘A’ ratings on Angie’s List and the BBB, and reprimands would be in order. Again, we whole heartedly apologize and thank our Customer for her honesty, patience and consideration.

They called to let me know they were en route and the time they would arrive. They worked efficiently but quickly and took great care with all of the items they moved. The move went perfectly and we would definitely use them again. In fact we have already referred them.

From beginning to end the service was exceptional. I spoke with Jay, who scheduled the move, and he was very polite, professional, courteous and personable. I received a reminder call the day before the move and the movers also called me on the day of the move to notify me that they were on their way. The movers arrived on time and got right to work. The two movers, Justin and Ricardo #2, were both very polite and professional and did a great job moving everything. I have used several moving companies in the past and have always had a bad experience, however, AZ Discount Movers truly went above and beyond to provide terrific service. I felt the movers took pride in their work and were very respectful of me and my belongings. I highly recommend this moving company and would certainly use them again in the future.

Something didn't go well at nearly every touch point. First, it took me three calls and being put on hold 5 times before I could get a quote. Second, the crew was an hour late to pack up our townhouse furniture. While on-site, the crew leader was in communications with the office staff via phone - right in front of us - and proceeded to complain about someone in the office. During the move-in, a few things were damaged, and the crew leader took photos of the items to submit with our claim. After submitting the claim and hearing nothing for about 3 weeks, I called to get a status update, and I was told nothing could be done without photos of the items. When I mentioned the crew leader had taken photos to submit, I was told he no longer worked for the company, and I'd have to figure out a way to get new photos - even though I wouldn't be at the new house for several more weeks. Once this issue was taken care of, I was told a reimbursement check would be cut and sent the next day, however, it was three weeks later that I had to follow up again via email, and I have yet to receive a call or email in return - even though the check arrived shortly thereafter. Not a pleasant experience.
Description of Work: We moved out of one location and had our belongings stored for three weeks prior to moving into a new location.

We never like to hear a customer is unhappy with their moving services. We did pull up all correspondence that had to do with this customers move. We never once heard a complaint as stated about the how many calls it took for her to get a hold of us to get a quote. We even record all phone conversations for customer service reasons such as this. So we can go back and listen to all correspondence with our valued customers. We did not hear any complaint of this kind from the customer, and we do not have a record of 3 missed calls from her number. Either way we do apologize for any delay with our phone system that may have caused any confusion or delays. That being said, we always try to process any damage claim as quickly as possible. We do have state on our damage claim form to allow 4-6 weeks for processing damages. We do not like to hear any damage took place at all. This move resulted in a vase getting damaged, 2 plates from a set, that were packed by the customer were cracked, and a lamp was damaged. We followed through and processed this claim and sent out the customer a check to accommodate her damages. We always follow with the legal obligated amount by law. We again did not intend to cause this customer any grief, and we again apologize for any delays due to all aspects of this move. We are just glad that this claim has been processed, and taken care of despite the delays. Thank you, Amy Hannah

The move went very smoothly. Justin and Ricardo were very efficient, careful and friendly. It was hard work, up and down stairs in both locations on a sweltering August afternoon, and they performed their job at an A level. I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome, and at a very reasonable price. Thanks so much. My only complaint is that the office scheduled the move between noon and 3PM. On the morning of the move, they called me at 10AM and said they would arrive in half an hour. I told them I had conflicting plans that morning, and it all worked out, as they rescheduled it for later in the afternoon. I would definitely hire them again.

The crew that was scheduled was late and never made it within the time window. The crew that filled in was fantastic, got the job done in record time with high quality! When moving to a new residence, a very short way from our home of 27 years, we needed a moving service for the large, heavy and bulky items including furniture, appliances and some heavier boxes. Found this company on Angie's List. A thourough estimate was given on the phone by a friendly young lady. Movers arrived on time, ready and eager to get moving! Questions on what we expected them to do/move were asked and answered as we did a walk through before they started. These guys were energetic, never slacking and with a great sense of humor to boot. Rene, Jacob and Ricardo did a good job and actually beat the time estimate by at least an hour. Yes, would hire again.

Everything went very well from the initial estimate to the completed move. The 2 crews were great and handled the move out and in expertly and with care. Tony, the driver and lead person was cooperative in protecting our wood floors and nothing was damaged or broken during the move.

From my first conversation with Jay to the last piece of furniture off the truck, Arizona Discount Movers exceeded our expectations. Jay was polite and very professional. He came to our home, took an inventory of all items we needed to be moved and provided us a quote within a couple of days. Based on Jay and the other comments on Angie's List, we decided to go with Arizona Discount Movers. We were contacted a day or two before our move to confirm the move. On moving day we were met with an AMAZING energetic, courteous team of movers. They told us to sit back and that "they were there now" to relieve us of the burden of the move... it was like sweet music to my ears!!! They handled our items, like they were their own... they quickly and carefully wrapped all of our furniture with pads and shrink wrap for extra protection. By the time we got to the new home, our family was pretty tired... not our team of movers! All we had to do was tell them what room to take the furniture to... In many cases, we weren't even sure where to place items, but with so much experience, they were able to place our furniture in the very best spot, which made for very little movement of furniture, once the move was completed. I don't hesitate to recommend Arizona Discount Movers for anyone in need of a moving company and would most definitely use them again in the future.... but I hope that's not for a long long time! ;o)
