My main point is that their mechanism has withstood the test of time with me and their service seemed pretty good. The mechanism worked in keeping kids out of the back up until they were about 7-8 years old and tall enough to open the latch.
Description of Work: I used Slide Right when I first bought my house in 2004 to put in self closing / latching mechanism on my sliding door to the back yard where my pool is. I hired them again probably in 2010 to fix the rollers on that same door and also put in a similar mechanism on another sliding door on the other side of my house. The mechanism is designed to be a protective device to keep children from getting to the pool. I forget what I paid but it was reasonable.

See above. Any other service avaiilable?
Description of Work: The serviceman was punctual in arriving and he gave a diagnosis of the problem and the parts that were needed. He told us that he'd have to order the parts and do the repair work after the holidays. Here we are, the 7th of January, 2013. Still haven't heard from him; and maybe that's a good thing. We'll look else where. My girlfriend told me she had this feeling that the man didn't like us or maybe he didn't like the way the house was. Mystery to me but nothing wrong with the would-be payment that was ready for his much needed help.

After reviewing this negative report, we searched our customer database and found no record of this customer. We never received any phone call about this issue from the customer. If something was missed on our part we would've made every attempt to fix any issues.

Our back patio door was needing major repairs. The rollers and tracks were shot; making it hard to open/close. Additionally, the seals were bad and door alignment was off; allowing bugs to enter the home. We had used Home Depot for other repairs and defaulted to them to give us a quote on a new door. Home depot's quote was ~$1,000 for a stock, standard-sized door and ~$1,600 for a special order door. Their contracted installers had to measure the door twice. And even after two measurements, they still insisted we needed a custom door. Out of frustration, we turned to Angie's List and found Slideright. Their technician offered us two solutions: One was to just repair the rollers and track (~$250) or look at a full door replacement. We opted for the door replacement; because we felt that roller replacement would not resolve the pest-infestation issue. Their full door replacement came in around $1,000. The technician who inspected/measured the door was also the installing technician. Both during the inspection and the installation, he was very professional and knowledgeable about doors and what would be required for the installation. The installation went off very smoothly and was completed in a matter of hours. The quality of the door is on par with what we had seen at H.D. This was a very positive experience and we would use SlideRight again.

Cary was professional, on time, and explained what needed to be done. Previously my screen door stuck in its track, and was hard to open and close. In a way it's good that someone accidentally walked through the screen, forcing me to "do something." Otherwise I might well have tolerated this for awhile longer. But now my new screen door works perfectly, and the heavy sliding glass door does too! Makes it fun to go outside again. :-) Thanks, Cary.

Their man arrived within the given time window and was very competent. He replaced the door rollers and was able to clean the existing track which he found not to need replacement - which made the job come in much cheaper than the original estimate !! Took about an hour and a half, and the door now glides easily.
Description of Work: Had large 8-ft double-glazed sliding glass door that was getting beyond difficult to open or close. I sought out E-Z Glide because I had used them before several years ago with great success. Their man arrived within the given time window, replaced the door rollers, and was able to clean the existing track which he found not to require replacement. This made the job come in much cheaper than the original estimate !! Door now glides easily with only one finger -- a Done Right Deal !!!

Showed up on time. Called on his way so we new he was going to arrive soon. Made sure before he started work what we expected from the service, described to us what he was going to do and what the final outcome should be. He was very persistent up front that he would be meeting our expectations. Set up a neat clean work area, replaced rollers, adjusted door, cleaned track and completed work. Had my wife and i test door to ensure we were happy before he cleaned up and finished. Gave us tips on how to keep door in best working condition. Overall, one of the best jobs we have had done around our house in years. Very professional, pleasant, showed concern with customer satisfaction, on time, and overall just a great

filed the bent track so now it works so easy
Description of Work: Our screen patio door was a problem since it was hard to move and came off its track often. Since this company put new rollers on the sliding door last year, I called them. Russ was out in 1 hour and warned me that he might need to replace the screen with a better model. When he arrived he said the screen was a better model already and said he could look at a few things first. He could have orded me a new screen then but. He relaced the wheels and "filed down" the bent track. Works sooooo easy now, thanks to Russ and his professionalism and honesty.

Called on Tuesday. Made an appointment for the work and Russ showed up on Wednnesday. On time! He and helper took about 2 1/2 hours to complete the work. Worked the whole time they were here. Doors operate fine. Cleaned up after themselves. Personable and polite.
Description of Work: Replace rollers on four patio doors. Repair damaged door parts. Has taken four screen doors to be re-screened and new rollers installed. These will cost $100.00 a screen (included in "How much did you spend") and should be back in a week.

Could not have been better. Russ was able to come the same day I called and at the appointed time. He quickly removed the doors and replaced the single rollers with double rollers. Once he placed the sliding door back in the track, we noted that the track was worn at one spot which caused the door to not slide perfectly smoothly at that point. He offered an option to add a track overlay to fix that problem. With that in place the door now runs more smoothly than the day the house was built.
Description of Work: Replaced the rollers on the bottom of our sliding glass door and added a track overlay. The latter is a much less expensive method of fixing a worn spot in the track (as opposed to replacing the whole track).

We had some initial problems with the scheduling: the date I chose turned out to be impossible, and I had to call back to reschedule. The person I spoke to was completely accommodating, and we rescheduled for a Friday morning between 9 and 11. On Friday morning, the owner called and said that Curt, who was supposed to come, had a personal emergency (his son had broken his arm, and he had to take him to the doctors), and that they wouldn't be able to come that day. They suggested the following Monday between 9 and 11, and, of course, I agreed. The following Monday, at exactly 9am, Curt showed up. He was polite, and started work on the door immediately. I was amazed that he was able to remove the door by himself (the previous handy-man had required an assistant), and that it only took about 6 minutes (the previous handy-man had required 2 hours). Curt clearly knew what he was doing, and had exactly the right tools for the job. After examining the door, he showed where the rollers were worn, and particularly how the aluminum track was warped and worn. He said that even with new rollers the door would not work properly. He suggested adding a steel overlay track, for an additional $70, and had me feel the existing aluminum track. Since it felt extremely uneven, I agreed to adding the track. Curt also pointed out that the track would raise the door a bit, which would likely mean that the safety locking pin would no longer match the hole, and we would need an alternative safety locking mechanism. He suggested using a dowel, which we have since done. Anyway, in short order, Curt added the overlay track, and patiently waited while my wife, horrified at all the insect debris collected above the fixed part of the door, and I cleaned both the fixed door and the moving door. He helped with the cleanup. After we were done, he quick assembled the door and adjusted it. What an amazing difference! The door, which previously often required two hands and significant force, now truly glides -- we can open or close the door using a single finger! In short, Curt was polite, good at explaining what the situation was, extremely knowledgeable, with exactly the right tools -- completely competent. Our problem of years was solved in less than an hour, and most of that hour was taken by our cleaning, not Curt's work. Southwest Patio Door Repair has been, by far, the best service company we have ever used. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Our home, built in 1997, has only sliding glass doors opening to the back yard. We use one door in particular, and use the door 20-30 times per day. Over the years, the door has become harder and harder to open and close -- to the point where my wife, who has arthritis, has trouble opening and closing the door. Previously we had hired a handy-man to solve the problem. He spent hours taking the door out and cleaning the rollers. Things were a little better, but soon reverted to painful operation of the door. We called Southwest Patio Door to solve the problem. They suggested replacing the rollers for $150 plus tax.

I could not be happier. Russ was polite, punctual, and reasonably priced. He went the extra mile when my senior mother did not answer her bell by calling me and letting me guide him through the back gate and patio. We have struggled with this lock for months. I could not be happier with his service and we'll see him again, I'm sure, for the other patio door in the house.

Company would not even come out and give an estimate to replace numerous doors at my house. I was told that time is money and that this company did jobs based on reputation. I would question why this company is listed on Angies List. An estimate is part of good busniness.

I am sorry that Member feels that way. I only have two technicians including myself, therefore I do not have the resources to spend a lot of time driving around to give free estimates. If someone is getting multiple estimates I do not try to compete in that situation and can make better use of my time. I am a licensed contractor with zero complaints and an accredited member of Better Busines Bureau with zero complaints. I also feel that my pricing is fair for the quality of work that is provided. Sincerely, Russ Verner (Owner).

Curt arrived around 10:00 (appointment was between 10 and 12). He checked out the door, then replaced the rollers. He also tightened the door handle and reinforced the lock with an extra screw, and lubricated the track (included in the price). Curt was very careful when removing/replacing the door, and did a clean job. Door works great now!

Exceptionally well. Although the glass supplier made a fabrication error, Russ installed the incorrect unit just to get a safe and functional door in place, and then returned a few days later with the correctly made piece. He even refused payment until the job was done to his satisfaction, even though I know he was operating at a time & materials deficit because of his supplier's error. I most highly recommend Russ as your "go-to" guy for any needs for patio doors, screens, and windows.

We live in North Scottsdale and had a very large sliding patio door which was very hard to open, along with a sliding screen door that was bent and noisy. SW Patio door sent a technician a few days after I called who removed the large Patio door and removed the old rollers and replaced them with twice as many new rollers, then rehung and adjusted the door. It now operates smoothly. The cost for this was $150. The tech also gave me a $200 quote to replace the faulty sliding screen door. I tried to beat that price by ordering the screen door and hanging it myself, but i couldn't beat the $200 quote, so I called back and ordered the screen door through SW Patio. They showed up with the screen a few days later and installed the new screen and took the old screen with them. The screen matches perfectly and works well. The tech was polite and professional.
