Description of Work: The worst experience I've encountered in decades. I spent three hours on the phone trying to get the correct technician - was incorrectly routed at least fouwr times and spent over 90 minutes on hold.

Description of Work: In an attempt to save some money, we cancelled our Comcast account and chose to bundle internet, phone, and cable through Century Link and DirectTV. The day our service was supposed to start, the technician failed to deliver, stating that our dogs were in the yard (when we'd actually locked them in the house all day for his/her services). Our service was then started one week later, but only after approximately 5 hours of speaking with various representatives with different stories each time regarding billing, account identification numbers, and the like. My account number was changed 4 times without my knowledge or authorization. I attempted to log into my online account, found another person's name and address, and when I called to inform the company of this, was told that they couldn't assist me, as I wasn't the person named on the account. I paid my bill on 10/28/12, but when I log into my account today, 11/5/12, I still states past due (and I received a "disconnection notice" in the mail today). I've been told by phone that they actually can see that I've paid my account, but that they don't know why my online account activity doesn't reflect that, nor can they do anything to fix it. My DirectTV bill is nowhere to be seen, as when I log into my DirectTV account, I'm told to go to CenturyLink for this information; CenturyLink, however, doesn't know where my bill is and it doesn't appear on my account when logged in there. I have received polite agents each time, albeit helpless. Customer service hours are normal business hours, Monday-Friday, which doesn't help me because that's when I'm working. I've wasted at least 4 lunch breaks on this drama, and the $10-20.00 per month saved isn't worth it. Beware!!!

+ -1 moreCustomer service has been excellent. Getting the internet hooked up was not was not easy. The first guy came out 3 days after ordering, which was great. Three technicians later, we had internet. It wasn't totally CenturyLink's fault. Our house did have two phone lines into the house, one specifically for security system, and we had a bad phone jack where we were trying to connect the modem/router, but only the third tech, Jeff, thought to check it. He then connected our laptop and set it up for us and also noticed that the original modem we were given wasn't working. He replaced it and finalized the set up of our network. Jeff was great. And because this was the third visit to our house, a supervisor came out as well and made sure things went correctly. Both guys were friendly and professional and, better yet, they didn't leave until they knew we had service. So, I can't totally blame CenturyLink for taking a week to get us set up, becuase our phone jack did have trouble, but the first technician, or they second, could have checked the jacks and at least stayed around until connection was confirmed. Either way, I'd recommend CenturyLink and DirectTV over Comcast.
Description of Work: We used CenturyLink for internet and bundled with DirectTV. Both were quick to come out and set up. Make sure you are at home when they come out. It just helps if there are complications and the guys need to get in your home. DirectTV will need to get in your home.

+ -1 moreThe installation went well and we had no problem getting hooked up to it wirelessly so I have a very positive review at this time. The woman who came out to do the installation was knowledgeable and did it quickly and on time so it was a positive experience. They don't have fiber optic in our area; it is still over the phone line so the maximum speed we can get is 3 megabits down and point-8 up but I was hoping to get a little faster. They said there was nothing they could do about it until their infrastructure gets upgraded so that they will have fiber optic in our area.

+ 0 moreI hate them. There are old lines out here so there is always a humming on my phone. When I something repaired they tell me it will be within 2 days before they can send someone out to fix it. I do not like the quality; for a landline it does not sound good. I will use them again in the future because they are the only landline telephone provider in my area.
