This has been going on for a month and I am tired of calling and sending emails. First serviceman who came out said we need new lines in subdivision. Called again and a service person said it was fixed. It was not. Called 2-3 more times and they said it was fixed and still I hear humming and static. They gave me a $11.50 credit on my line last bill. This has been ongoing and I am of the opinion that Century Link does not care about giving me the expert service I deserve. I pay my bill every month and they do not deliver. I would not recommend Century Link. I believe they have gone downhill and they sure don't care about the customer anymore.
Description of Work: Phone line has humming and static on it disrupting my calls.

These guys are horrible. Their customer service is the worst. Trying to get my service switched to my new house has entailed hours of hold time, 4-5 different transfers (some that didn't go through or the other end couldn't hear me - at the phone company!) and need to call back. Had trouble with the Internet at the old house too so the quality once it gets going isn't great either. I have switched a ton of other things with the move and CenturyLink has been the most difficult to reach anyone and get it sorted out.

I feel that you need to watch the bills carefully to make sure that you are getting the discounts you've been promised. The service technically has been fine and the help over the phone has been good. I think they should pay more attention to accurately fulfilling the customer request for services. We had an issue, and I hadn't noticed, where we had a service that we paid for for a year and a half for a service that we didn't order. I had to get into serious negotiation with them for paying back some or all of that money.

We want to switch internet. We have internet and that is bad. Our internet is slow and we would like to get rid of it. We have maxed out the most that we can get through Century Link and it is like not sufficient, it is like 16 or something and it is crazy, which is not good and we have got to get that changed. We had more trouble than anybody else, ours is like every day thing and we use bundling.

I have to use another provider because Century Link doesn't go where I moved to. I haven't been real happy with them but I can't do anything else about it. I used Century Link for 20 years and it was fine with me until they didn't provide where I am now. I got nothing special. The installer was great. It's the last place I moved into but that's really the only thing that I didn't have much to do with them. When I had to call them they didn't stay on hold as long as some paces. I got no extra cable channels or anything because it was pretty expensive. The internet was not the fastest at all but I thought when I changed to another provider they had a faster one but I don't see it with that either.
Description of Work: I used Century Link for basic cable and a computer. That included internet also.

Technical issues with the service constantly. Speeds drop to nothing and tech support spends hours troubleshooting with no result. They fall back on that it is the customers problem, yet I have the DSL line coming directly from their box to their modem. Frustrating to interact with them and never get anywhere.

Calling to get help with accessing an account for bill pay was an absolute failure. I got transferred 3 times and then was treated rudely by the last guy who I spoke with before I hung up. We have residential service, and in trying to find my online account, none of our phone numbers or email addresses could be associated with an account by their broken website. Hence my need to call.

Completed as scheduled, per appointment time without any issues. Technician completely setup the service/modems inside the house and made sure everything was working before he left.

You can not find a good provider of cable TV because they are all crooks, every single one of them does the same thing, they get you at a low price for the first twelve month after that they raise it up to as much as 50%. I have dealt with three of those companies before and they are all the same, it is kind of a mafia business. Their remote does not work and i called them but they have not yet responded.

The installer called on his way over, was here right on time and then just breezed through everything and was only here maybe an hour. Which is just great with a small child! He walked me through everything and left me his cell phone number for future questions. Centurylink far exceeded my expectations.

The key to this is that question above: "Would you use this provider in the future". Well, it is pretty much a two-horse race, so the reality is that I probably will use them in the future. That said, the service is sub-par, usually slower than advertised, and the people who work there know it and don't care. Their modems are crap (I have a POS Q1000), and they don't want to replace it with a better model. They suggest you go buy one. Nice. Comcast is no better, so there you go.

Generally, I am pretty satisfied with Century Link. HOWEVER, I have had continual billing problems with them as they changed my monthly billing to a higher amount than originally specified. I had to contact them numerous times to resolve this higher billing issue and finally got them to bring the bill back into the range that was originally specified. This created a good bit of angst as I felt like I had to "fight" them to do the right thing, and when they finally acquiesced it seemed like they were doing me some "special" favor. They offer a relatively good bundled product, but their customer service stinks.

Technician was punctual. He determined the problem was inside my house. He found an old phone connection receptacle that was suspect and replaced it. My DSL data rate returned to specifications.

They have raised our Internet rate 3 times in the last year. They charged large late fees multiple times because we weren't made aware of our rate changes. We are actively looking for a new provider. Their Internet service is fine, but their customer service is about the worst I've ever experienced.

We reduced our services with CenturyLink from everything to just Internet service. DirecTV - didn't watch enough so dropped it, Phone line - too expensive so switched to VOIP, Verizon - too expensive so switched to Consumer Cellular. We needed faster internet speed to use our computers plus the Voice Over Internet phone, so I contacted CenturyLink to upgrade. They will only upgrade to anything over 12 Mbps (what we have now) if you also subscribe to their Prism TV service. What a stupid marketing decision! They lost me as a customer over it.

This is the absolute worst company that I have ever done business with! I have to call them every month when my bill comes. For the latest example, my bill went up last month. I called them and they sent me to the 'loyalty' department. I was excited because the guy told me that the new rate would be $15/month for the first 12 months and $25 thereafter. I get my bill this month and the rate is $52/month. So, like I have to do every month, I call back. This time the lady tells me that there is no record of me getting that deal and that she could get me $29.95/month and can get it down to $19.95/month. Not the deal I was promised, but for these boffoons, I take it. Because I'm very angry at this point, I decide to talk to a supervisor. Guess what; I am not supposed to get the $29.95 at all and he tells me the computer will not accept it! If I hadn't talked to the supervisor, I would have never known it until next month! After talking to my coworkers, they are telling me similar stories about their experiences with them. Do yourself a favor and NEVER do business with these imbeciles!

Century Link provides the absolute WORST internet that I have ever experienced. I have had it in my home for more than a year now and have never been able to use it, either on my phone or computer, for more than a few minutes at a time...and that's when it works to begin with. I have called customer service several times and their only solution is to restart the modem which hasn't helped at all, except a few times very temporarily (maybe 15 minutes). I have asked for a tech to come to my house to see what is wrong but they won't send anyone out unless I pay them $85. For what? To fix their unusable service? Worst customer service ever. On my own i have tried multiple different routers and this did not fix the problem either. Also - I have several friends who have Century Link and every single one has had the same experience. Terrible internet, terrible service.

I do not have any problems with them. I wish that the service was a bit faster up here where I live but I live on top of the mountain. I am not sure about their price because my wife pays the bills. I have DSL service. It has gone out a couple of times but they always get it back on very quickly. I am happy with the service and it is the best that I can get up here without going satellite. I have got the fastest that they can get me up here. I lived in Denver before I moved here and they were our service provider there. I had my internet phone through them and when I moved here, they just transferred everything here. So, I kept the same phone number and all that stuff. I have all the land line phone features like caller ID, call waiting and voice mail. I also never get dropped calls with that.

All I wanted to know is if the transaction went through because things were a bit weird, not normal. She asked for home address, last 4 of SSN etc After giving all that she continued to say she was required to get additional security information that I did not even know what she was talking about. So she refused to give me a yes/no answer. After which I called customer service to cancel my service that I had with them for 17years. I was passed off to another person who then took my information again, just as I gave the girl (address, last 4 of SSN etc) He then asked why I was cancelling and I told him the whole story. He said that I need not give anything else but what I had just given him, and said they was suffice and that they should have never asked for anything more. But of course they had so they lost a customer. Besides that our internet service is spotty. Even getting the super high speed internet nothing got better, only the price went higher. Rarely use my home phone so it wasn't worth the charge either (again the charges that keep going up). I needed to change providers/plan anyways and CenturyLink just pushed me into action and now I will be looking for a new provider.

The service and repair people were good.
Description of Work: Static on old land line that we needed to get fixed to get stable internet. Scheduling a time was a bit funky but the service folks were professional, polite and got the job done. we do have the line-backer service with covers the cost of these repairs. Service folks added external dsl filter, hardwired one interior phone jack for the DSL. However, starting the inet service, CL screwed up the plan we selected and over billed us - we made a call that cleared it up.

The customer service rep on the phone was courteous and scheduled a technician to come out and try to fix the problem. The technician was courteous and did something. The problem still exists.
Description of Work: Our internet service has been sketchy at best. A technician came out and did something. Internet service continues to be sketchy and unacceptable. We will be seeking a different internet provider.
