It took 2 visits to get everything accomplished. He brought over all the items needed for the transfer. One item he was having trouble with so he called a friend and between the two of them they got it fixed. He is very knowledgeable and I would recommend his services to anyone who needs help.

Joe is incredible. He did everything I stated above. He is so welcoming & explained exactly what he did to make our laptop work beautifully! He called during the time he was working on it & let us know about an issue, educated us & made sure we were okay with him taking care of the additional issue he found. Joe is the best of the best & my husband & I wouldn't think of utilizing anyone else. We are thrilled with how our laptop works!!!

My printer stopped printing black, and I had tried numerous ways to fix it (many from looking at Help sites). After zero success for at least an hour, I decided to see if it would be easily repaired by a professional. I found Joe's name on Angie's List and sent him an email one evening, asking if I could bring it to him for repair. He contacted me the first thing the next morning, asked me to describe the issue a bit more, and then did some research. Within an hour or two he sent me some links of things to try out. When I went home that night, I tried them and still nothing worked. I chatted with Joe the next day and he said that he would be happy to fix it, but he thought it might be cheaper to get a new printer - he mentioned liking Brothers for its software. He turned out to be right - and I went out and bought a new printer. I called him back to follow up - and all is well. He struck me as a gentle and ethical professional. If I ever have a tech issue, I will go to him without hesitation.

Excellent overall service. This is the second time I have used Smart Ideas and I will use him again if the need arises.

Because of work previously done by Joe, I contacted him when having problems with computer/printer communication. On 3/3 Joe attempted to solve the problem (Canon tech support was unable to). Because of time constraints, we agreed to continue on 3/4. On 3/4 Joe determined the problem was likely a printer motherboard failure. I then asked him to clean/speed up my computer. Joe cleaned up the computer, giving me tips and pointers along the way. It took approximately an hour. Joe only charged for the work on 3/4, which I felt was more than fair. My computer now works roughly 3 times faster. Joe is prompt, professional, knowledgeable and a real pleasure to work with.

I was converting Works spreadsheets to Excel and was having sorting issues. Joe was able to quickly solve the problem within minutes after my request. I am continuing my learning experience with Excel and should future issues arise, as I'm sure they will, I know Joe has my back. Now that's a great feeling.

This was an unsatisfactory experience. He was in Phoenix and wanted to access the computer remotely. Due to being remote, I felt it took longer with answering questions and that there was a potential security issue.

After unsuccessfully getting service from Best Buy for the Acer purchased from them online, I took the Acer to Joe for him to see what was wrong. I had already purchased a new laptop (Dell) because I could not wait any longer to see if the Acer was repairable or would be replaced (I had purchased it only 8 months previously). Joe quickly identified the problem and was able to access and transfer the data to my new Dell. He also did some additional work for data storage, programs, etc. I trust Joe to manage my confidential data and provide me with facts that I can not go back to Acer regarding the defective laptop. One more time - Joe to the rescue!

It went very well. He cleaned up a lot of stuff on my computer and got rid of a lot of junk lurking in the background. I've used the service before and he was particularly good compared to others I've used.

Actually it went well, except for two months later I was right back to where I was. He did do well, but I ended up having a glitch back, because it was just too slow. He did a good job, but he did it so fast, that I couldn't take note and within a couple of months, whatever he fixed, just went back to where it was. I didn't want to fix it again. The computer was too slow. I just got rid of it. It just wasn't worth the trouble anymore. It was an old one.

It was done remotely and I did not realize that when I bought it. My internet connection was not strong enough for it. So, we both agreed that this deal would not work out. He was very prompt in getting back to me. I’m disappointed we couldn’t do any work on my computer. My experience overall was very good! I just wish overall we could have been able to completethedeal.

He was very good and he told me initially that I might want to try upgrading my system and see how that works. He offered to do some research to see if he could help. He did his homework and he told me that he didn't think he would be able to help because he wasn't as familiar with the MacIntosh versus the PC that I'm using.

Although I have used computers for decades, I was not comfortable to rebuild all my applications and correctly reintegrate archived data files from various sources. I have used Joe Shipley of Smart Ideas in the past for virus removal and restoration in the past. I was very pleased with Joe?s professionalism and efficient and accommodating service at reasonable rates. I contacted Joe while my laptop was still in the custody of the national data recovery service. He said he would be available to come to my office whenever I needed him to do whatever I needed done. After three distressing weeks without my laptop, it was a great relief to know the end was in sight with Joe?s help. Joe was available at my office as soon as I needed him. He quickly and carefully assessed the status of my laptop, my goals, and the suitable resources I had available (installation discs, add-in links, and saved files) to establish the rebuild plan. Joe made steady progress rebuilding my laptop all the while patiently explaining his methodology and answering all my questions so I would have better control and value from my laptop. Joe assured me he was available for continued on-site or remote assistance. In the following days as I worked with my laptop I discovered several more issues that needed attention. Joe was always available when I called and was able to remotely make things right and educate me where I needed. I had estimated I would need Joe for at least eight hours. He was able to accomplish everything I needed in less than six hours. I would highly recommend Joe Shipley and Smart Ideas for anyone needing competent, customer focused computer services at a great value.

I wanted to disable the touchpad because when using the mouse, accidentally touching the touch pad causes the cursor to skip around randomly and mess up the text. Joe did a thorough series to tests to determine how to disable it, but, after trying a number of things, concluded that my hardware doesn't have a disable function for the touchpad. This was a minor irritation - not a significant problem, so I told him to discontinue further efforts. Joe has been my "go-to" guy for computer repairs for over a year now, and he's always been very professional, very knowledgeable, and very reasonable in pricing. I highly recommend him!

I've recommended him to two or three people. He's great. He's very good. When I give him a call, he calls back within an hour. He's very good about fixing it. He does it from outside. He dials into the system and fixes it. We live across the country from him. He's very good at providing us with freeware that we can use to prevent the problem from happening again, better malware and stuff like that. He's great.

This was my first experience with Joe Shipley from Smart Ideas. The service and work performed was excellent. I plan to use him for all my computer needs from here on out until he decides to get out of the business.

Joe untangled operating system problems and cleaned up my computer. All of this was done by long distance. He is in Arizona, I am in Texas. I will call him again and I highly recommend him to others.

Even after I ask Angie's List to not ask me to provide a review because I did not use the service, they remove the request for only a short time, and then then re-instate it. After over two years of fighting Angie's List over this, I am writing this review. I do not believe this review is fair but I do not know what else to do. The gentleman may do great work or he may do bad work. In either case I simply do not know.
