He was very courgile and professional. He worked very well with someone who really doesn't know too much about computers. His instructions were very clear.

Contact was rapid and efficient and courteous. Shipley seems knowledgeable.

Slow computer needed tune up, bought the $59 Big Deal for Smart Ideas, for 1 hr with Joe, e-mailed for appointment to Joe of Smart Ideas, he responded quickly , appointment set up and a suggested homework assignment for me was provided. This homework an extra benefit to me, very detailed instructions on what I could do so that my hour was used to resolve issues beyond my ability. I had a few questions about the homework assignment, I e-mailed Joe with them, he responded immediately addressing the issues. I wanted to be involved while he had control of the computer performing the tasks. Joe did not waste any of my time but my printer issue ran me overtime, Joe advised 10 mins prior to time being over and gave me option to stop or continue for the regular charge of $110 an hr or prorated for portion of hr . I agreed to continue and all my concerns were resolved. I feel this was "money" well spent, my computer is extremely faster and Joe removed some of the "fear" I had regarding computer and software. A very informative and pleasant experience. If I have need in the future (and I'm sure I will) I will again use Joe of Smart Ideas.

Joe did a great job of servicing my computer. He cleaned up the drives and freed up quite a bit of space. I have a 3 year old Toshiba that has given me a lot of problems and thanks to Joe's help it is now working very well. I would definitely use Joe again, he is very helpful and professional!

Received a $60 coupon for first hour, spoke with Joe Shipley, owner and operator of the company (also the person who fixes the computers). He described the billing process and estimated 2 hours to fix everything. Arranged for a set time, had to cancel the first time due to illness, set up another time, when I called, he had forgot to put me on the calendar and had someone else scheduled, but worked it out with the other person so we could get started. The entire process took a little over an hour and a half, his normal billing time is $120.00 an hour, but we worked quickly in the second part of the session and finished up what needed to be done. Joe was courteous, knowledgeable and very good. He had good humour and was enjoyable to work with online. Definitely would use his service again.

I am a writer who uses a computer like a glorified typewriter and a convenient research library. I was pretty sure that any computer expert would scoff at my old programs and tell me that I needed to buy a lot of expensive stuff to make my system run better. I was also nervous about having someone from Arizona work on my computer in Maine. Although it took longer than the time allotted for the Big Deal, Joe didn't laugh at my 10-year-old programs. He explained what he was doing and why, taught me how things work and gave me advice that will make my system run very well and save me tons of money. I was also nervous about having some stranger from Arizona work on my computer in Maine. Joe actually made the process enjoyable -- and for a non-techle like me, that's a miracle! My session was worth every penny!

This was an excellent experience. Joe is a very nice gentleman and easy to work with. Once I confirmed my appointment he sent me detailed Instructions on some initial cleaning to do before our session. This allowed me to do time consuming cleaning on my own time. Joe promptly called me at my appointment time, connected to my computer and immediately got to work on my system. He communicated during the entire process making sure not to remove anything I might need and asking about other things to get rid of things I wasn't using. He also installed a couple programs that are quite useful for me and gave me a list of programs I could remove at my leisure to speed my computer up more. Several times he opened and closed programs and the Internet to see the improvement and when he was not satisfied with what he saw he went back to work. I am very pleased with the service and I have added Joe to my contacts, he will be the one I call for any future computer needs.

Joe set a date and time and he called on time.Having been in the service business myself I found him very easy to talk to and he did explain what he was doing and why in plain english and not COMPUTER talk.He was very pleasent and I would use him over and over again. In our phone call I found we were connected that he was raised in the Bronx and me in Brooklyn N Y . A very nice person and if you need help call him you will not be sorry.

Overall, the process and the results were fantastic. I am the CEO of two technology companies and have great background in computer technology. Joe was extremely professional, and customized his approach and services based upon my specific needs. He was able to fix a majority of the problems on my computer, and stands behind his work and its results. The items he could not resolve, he was continuing to research to help find a solution. Again, being a professional in this industry, all computer problems cannot be easily, and sometimes never fixed. I would highly recommend Joe and his company to anyone I know who has an issue with their computer. It would be a SMART IDEA for me to do that.

I had used Joe's service once before when I had a computer problem, and was thrilled with both his service & the results, so had no hesitation in calling him again. My computer froze up, and got got stuck in the middle of uninstalling one anti-virus program so that I could install another one. Then I was nervous about going on-line because I didn't know if I had any anti-virus protection at all. Plus, the computer had slowed down to a crawl. Even though Joe & I live across the country from one another, he was able to get everything done for me very quickly, very professionally, and completely to my satisfaction. That was money very well spent.... I'm never calling on anyone but Joe!

Joe was in contact with me via email right away. He was very professional and worked with my schedule to find a good time to perform the service. He gave me detailed, accurate instructions for what I could do ahead of time to make the process easier and faster for me and gave me an accurate expectation of how long the appointment would last. He called me promptly at the time we schedule and was very pleasant to talk to. He explained everything he was doing with the computer and taught me different steps I could take in the future to protect my computer from viruses and keep it efficient by running different cleanup programs. He asked questions about how I used the computer so he could understand what was important to me and how he could make the computer run better for me. Overall it was a great experience, Joe was very nice and helpful and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to either fix current computer problems or protect it from possible viruses, or if their computer is just running slow and needs some cleanup.

I was pleased that Joe Shipley could work on my computer from his home--no pressure to clean house. There was a little communication problem getting started, but eventually we commenced. We talked on the phone while Joe ran my computer and allowed me to make decisions and implement preferences. My computer proved to be slow and the first session lasted two hours. After Joe worked with another client, he got back to me for another two hours. I appreciated his explaining to me what he was doing and answering my questions in language I could understand. All the things he did are listed in the invoice. He also gave me instructions for follow-up work. His installation of security freeware should save me a little money. The charges for his services were always made clear in advance, and ultimately he gave me a generous goodwill discount. My chief problem that led me to seek help was with Verizon e-mail. The e-mail works much better now.

After I signed-up for the special offered by Smart Ideas on Angie's List, I was contacted via e-mail by Joe Shipley to set up a convenient date and time when he could call to work on my computer from his base in Mesa AZ. He then e-mailed "homework" -- several software programs that I could upload before that date and, if I was comfortable doing so, I could run in order to reduce the amount of time he would need to work on my computer. His instructions were very detailed and easy to follow. I uploaded the software programs and ran them. Mr. Shipley called promptly at the designated time. He was easy to talk with and told me what he was doing throughout the hour we spent together on the phone. We also enjoyed a friendly conversation as he worked, since I had spent time in Mesa and he was familiar with locations on the East Coast where I lived. At the end of the hour which I had purchased, he assured me that he only needed another few minutes to satisfy himself that he had done a complete job of cleaning up my computer and that there would be no additional cost for those few minutes. During our session he had taught me several tricks to make my computer use easier and faster. At the end, my computer was definitely running much faster than before. He satisfied himself that everything was working correctly, that my computer was still hooked up to my printer, etc. I have filed him in my several address books and will definitely contact him in the future should I need his computer help. I would also recommend him without reservation to anyone having computer problems or just wanting a very professional clean-up.

They were very prompt. They used a local guy. I was very pleased with his work. It works, they did a good job and came out here right after I called them. I would recommend them. Price was typical for the type of work performed. They came the day after I called.

I love the idea that this computer expert can be sitting in Arizona and remotely fix the problems that I am having with my computer! It's a brilliant concept! While we didn't solve all of my computer problems in the hour that I had paid for, we solved one issue that wasn't on my list -- because I thought it was a hardware issue -- and that has saved me a ton of anguish and gnashing of teeth! Joe is my hero, and the service was well worth the fee paid!

Joe got my computer running properly, and gave me the ability to keep it that way.

He called me within an hour of my email, and left a detailed message because he was getting on a plane. I called him back at time he said and he was ready to get to work looking at my laptop to give me an estimate and tell me if he could help or not. He didn't charge for that. He cleaned up my computer, made it super fast and solved the problem I had with crashes and the mouse. He gave us suggestions and a list of things we could do ourselves to save money and keep it running smoothly. He worked for 2 hours but would only charge us for 1.5 hours. He was professional and prompt and I will use him again and tell all my friends and family about him..

Joe was on time via phone and fixed my computer so that it works faster.

I'm 77 yrs.old and computer illiterate but Joe was very patient with me while also being most plesant.This effort took almost 2 hours. I an most pleased with his services.

Joe sent me emails prior to our session explaining what I needed to do to prepare so that we would not waste valuable time. I loaded the software, and Joe was able to connect to my computer so that he could see what it was doing and what he needed to do to repair it.

Joe was very good about making the computer "tune-up" session as efficient as possible, as it is done remotely from his computer to your own computer, using a "team viewer" program. Before he signs on with you, however, he has you run various programs, for which he provides detailed installation and run instructions. This helps fix problems BEFORE he's even on the clock with you remotely, thus saving you money, and fixing your computer at the same time. Joe is very candid about the cost/benefit analysis he can offer, and doesn't try to upsell you for additional time (the services are based on an hourly rate) where he feels that the time would not be a good value for your hard earned money. In other words, one comes away with the sense that he will give you an honest appraisal of whether spending hundreds of dollars is worth it, particulary if you're using a very old computer (like we were), which sometimes can be part of the problem, particuarly if slowness is your issue. Notwithstanding the fact that our computer is six years old, and thus very much behind the times in terms of today's technology, Joe got it running very fast again. Joe embodies trust and confidence, and has the obvious skills to fix many, many issues. I would definitely use his services again. I think you will be very pleased with his company.
