Joe Shipley/Smart Ideas! is great. He contacted me right away and set up a time for the service. He was very professional and punctual, and in fact, went over and above what I was expecting. Joe gave me some tips and shortcuts to avoid some of my problems in the future. I definately got my money's worth, and then some.....If there had been an A plus box I would have checked it for all catagories!!

SMART IDEAS to the Rescue: Based on the reviews in Angie's List, I decided to give Joe a call although I fully expected that there was no hope for me and my computer. To my great surprise, Joe expressed his confidence that he could probably fix the machine remotely and without the need to re-format the drive. Although he was already busy on other things, Joe was able to multi-task the work on my computer with his other activities. One of the first things he did was to gain direct access to my computer via the internet. Through that internet connection, Joe was able to identify the extent of the problem and the actions required to isolate and eliminate the problem software and to generally clean up my hard drive. Some of these activities were performed by Joe at his end and some I initiated at my end per his instructions. Overall it took more than a couple hours to complete all the activities and, in the end, my computer was back and running as good as new. Furthermore, the bill from Joe reflected only the time he actually spent on resolving the problem and not the total overall period of time (which also included much time waiting for new diagnostic software to be installed and executed). In summary, I found Joe Shipley at Smart Ideas to be very knowledgeable, personable, professional and expedient. I would definitely recommend him to others who may be experiencing problems with their computer. Although I am located in California and Joe is in Arizona, the physical separation didn't seem to present any issues as long as the internet connections were available.

My computer had the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). I had tried everything on my own and finally decided that I had to either fix or replace the computer. I was looking at another $1000 to replace this computer in less than 3 years. The following is what Joe did for us. Diagnosed the blue screen issues Back up data and emailed documents to us. Check hard drive for errors Check memory for errors - had to replace system memory I have my computer and it's working great. Joe had this computer for two business days, which I find unbelieveable and it was over the Labor Day weekend.

My computer is now fast and error message free...He was able to eliminate a lot of things on my computer that I didn't want and emailed me instructions of how to keep my computer as trouble free as I could... Appreciate his time and honesty and competence... I think he provided excellent work and I would hire him again in a heartbeat if I ever have problems with my computer again. He also stands behind his work... so if I had problems or questions to call him. I don't. No body wants to have to get their computer repaired or spend the money,,, but if you have to,, call Smart Ideas... it's fairly painless... :)

Joe checked the broken computer and told me how much repair would cost, approx. $200.00. I decided against repairing the old computer and had him transfer the data to a new computer.

We purchased a big deal for the service and the service turned out great. They were of great help. He told me exactly what he was doing, and why.

After I made the purchase, he called me and asked me what I needed done. I described to him what I wanted, and he suggested to me that what computer work I was needing done, he doesn't do. So I did not use him for this deal and got a refund for the Big Deal.

We found him to be extremely valuable, helpful, professional, and most of all: He got right back to us!

I am very happy with the service I received from Joe. He spent the time to help me understand what I needed to do to keep my computer up to date. He was very understanding of someone who is not very computer literate. He helped me download the items I needed and really did a great job if updating everything. I would recommend him and his service to anyone that is in need of service.

Joe spent two and a half hours riding my computer of bugs and viruses. (One virus was particularly difficult called 24X7) Joe provided me with four programs that keep my computer running germ free. I am completely satisfied. He is friendly and very knowlegable.

Contract was cancelled before any service was provided. Did not realize this service was a 'remote' service and cancelled the contract as soon as I was aware.

It did not meet my expectations, it was full of dead air. We removed some of the files and then things started to look funny in the system and we have to erase it and do it separate ways. He saw something he never seen before, well lets just leave that. I wouldn't recommend them. He just couldn't do it, I paid for something and it didn't work.

I was very satisfied. He did what he said he would do and more. Will definitely use his services again in the future.

This was a good experience. My computer had started being sluggish and messages were popping up telling me various files were corrupt, capped by the inability to boot the computer. I tried in vain to repair my computer on my own, but finally gave in and found Joe Shipley thru Angie's List. He answered his phone on a Saturday (yay), and after I explained what was happening he told me to bring the computer over and he'd look at it. After doing so he told me the hard drive was bad, and that he'd replace it and have the computer back to me on Monday afternoon. After a few glitches, I got it back on Tuesday or Wednesday, in fine working order. A few days later, I realized that I was only receiving emails at one of my email addresses. (I use Windows Mail.) So I called Joe, who walked me through many possible causes,none of which worked. He then got in touch with a collrague and got right back to me with the fix, which I was able to implement myself as he walked me through it.

Joe Shipley tuned up my computer to make it run faster and perform better. Many unused files were eliminated, as well as some items on the registry. Problems I was having with the computer were resolved. Joe instructed me to run clean-up software and malware software periodically to keep the computer running well. I've since then purchased another hour of tune up time from Smart Ideas. It's great!

He did an excellent job. He was on time and very quick to get the work done.

I purchased a new computer and needed to get all my data from the old computer to the new computer. I had been using Carbonite to be sure my old data was backed up as I was already at memory capacity. Mr. Shipley transferred all the data from my old computer to my new computer. Then he downloaded the data into the appropriate computer files on the new computer. I had purchased a key card version of Outlook 2013 and could not get it loaded. He determined that the key code was not being recognized and we had to purchase a new version to download and informed me how to get a refund from the software seller. He helped me with computer settings, speeding up the startup process by deleting unused applications. Working with Mr. Shipley was comfortable, stressless, reassuring and beyond my hopes for success. I highly recommend Smart Ideas, Mr. Shipley's company, for competent, fair, expedient solutions to computer issues. I will be working with him again I'm sure!

It helped to a minimum degree but fell back to its initial state within a week. We then just gave up and bought an iPad. I didn't like the idea of remotely giving up complete access and control of our computer to anyone.

I called Smart Ideas, Joe, and he said if I bring the computer to him he would be able to fix it in about 10 minutes. When I got to his shop he unloaded my computer from my vehicle and made the repair in about 15 minutes while I was waiting. The service was great and the price very reasonable.

He was great, the price was right. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was done a day after you called him, and he even answered after hours. He does great work.

Things went extremely well. My PC is flying today. I followed the directions Joe sent to me by email. That saved a LOT of time. If the customer cannot follow the instructions in the email, I suggest asking him for more preparation details. He does not mind answering the pre-appointment inquiries. He wants the customer to be ready for the consultation in order to have the very best outcome possible. I am only a moderate level PC user and certainly no technical expert. I understood most of what was suggested in the pre-work and I knew exactly what to expect from his email communications. When I didn't understand, I asked for clarification. He promptly replied. I set aside an uninterrupted hour to spend with him online. In this way, one should be respectful of his time, as well. He is patient and will hold your hand as much as needed. If you cannot get the preparation work done before the call, expect to spend more than one hour because although he does not waste any time during your consultation, he is extremely thorough and committed to a job well-done......and that, my friends, is worth paying for.
