I had a vexing problem with a new printer purchased a few days ago. When it was printing, it did a great job, but sometimes the print jobs would just collect in the print queue and not print out. I called Joe Tuesday afternoon just as he was leaving for a business call, and said he'd call me back the next day. He called right at the expected time on Wednesday, and did some trouble-shooting via remote access software. He was able to identify the problem and fix it, within about an hour. I'm very happy with the work he did for me. I would use him again and highly recommend him to others!

Working with Joe was great. He was responsive, knowledgeable, thorough, and very personable. He spent about two hours with me on the phone and via a remote connection to my computer. He explained everything he was doing, and asked questions about what we use and don't use to determine what needed to change. Answered all my questions and provided information about software that would allow me to find and delete duplicate files. The Big Deal covers an hour of service, which really is not enough to do a thorough review... Joe advised me in advance of what additional charges would be to finish out the process, and it was worth every penny to continue. The computer is running much faster now. I definitely would use him again in the future. Wish he did the same thing for Macs!

This was my second time working with Joe. This time my Win7 system had ground to a halt and had many problems. He got to work within hours and after 4 hours of investigation and repair my PC is quick and fully functional again. After several hours work of my own trying to solve these problems I was ready to give it up and buy a new machine but I gave Joe a try because of great service the last time and it paid off. There may be another couple good years in this PC and I'm glad not to have to make that replacement decision today.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. He was very good and was a very nice man. We did the work over the phone and he was professional. I think he lives in Arizona and I live in New York. Computers we can do over the phone.

Based on Angie's list reviews, I called Joe on Thursday, explained my problem of loss of features, slow running etc. I dropped it off that afternoon. By mid-day Friday, the "Overhaul," was complete and ready for pick-up. I had some additional problems Sunday and Joe was quick to return my call, log on remotely Sunday evening and remedy the problem at no additional cost. If your looking for a "Geek," or "Doctor," Joe's not your guy. If you want a professional, who does the work himself (not some kid in the back) in a timely manner at a reasonable cost, Joe's your guy....pete

I called Joe on Friday afternoon and asked about him helping me connect my chromebooks to my printer. He let me know that he could work with me on Saturday. He let me know that he was not sure that he could help me, but that there would be no charge if he couldn't. On Saturday, he worked with me for about a half-hour, including calling back when he thought that he had located more information that could help. Because he could not download programs into the Chromebook that would allow him to "see" what the issue was, he was limited in what he could do. Ultimately, he was not successful. However, he was true to his word and did not charge me. He also was very pleasant to work with. I will definitely call him again with computer issues

I know nothing about computer repair and Joe helped me by explaining everything in simple terms, giving me hints and suggestions on how to use the computer more effectively for what I'm trying to accomplish. He is very knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend Joe's service.

After ordering a Deal from Angies List, Joe sent me an email letting me know what to do before he called. (I had had another tech previously who just told me my computer was way to slow and nothing worked.) Joe had me up and running fast in a couple of hours. He also helped me install new memory and my computer is running as if new. If you have a slow computer or just need some "how do I do this" help, call on Joe from Smart Ideas. He does it all by a remote connection and you can watch him and talk to him on the phone at the same time. GREAT SERVICE!

Joe Shipley did a great job. I live in Minnesota and wanted input and guidance on purchasing a new laptop. We have our share of computer repair services here in the metro area, but after reading his reviews here on Angie's List, I decided to give him a call in Arizona. I did not know if he offered consultations regarding new laptop purchases, but he was happy to help me when I called. No need to call at a later date. He charges a very reasonable $110 per hour and allows for partial hour fees. I spent half an hour with him and he will be charging my credit card for one half hour of time. I preferred to pay for his time rather than, as can happen with those offering free phone advice, feeling rushed through my questions. I described how I used my 2006 laptop, and he discussed the features I would need to get the most out of a new laptop. He also had great advice on where to go to actually look at what is available, as in which retailer has the most by way of selection, and where to buy one--the two are not the same! I had already done a good bit of research on the internet about laptop features. However, I still had a number of questions aimed at avoiding chronic laptop problems with certain manufacturers and which features would provide good performance and monitor resolution without buying more laptop than I really needed. I also had questions about the plague filled Windows 8 and 8.1 that are often sold with new laptops and wanted to avoid that frustration. He answered all of my questions and offered solutions with no trouble at all on every point. In browsing floor models at one retailer, he suggested ways to get the most out of the time with the salesperson and how best to test the floor model for my particular needs. He also gave recommendations on warranties over and above those from the manufacturer, and which retailer had the best return policy and warranty options. I was very pleased with his work and would recommend him without reservation to anyone looking for advice on what to buy. When we ended the call, he confirmed with me that we had spent half an hour on the phone and what the charge would be on my credit card statement. Although this was only a consult, I appreciated his professionalism. If I ever need help in the future with my new laptop that can be addressed with a remote session, he's my choice. Thanks so much!

Everything went well. It took longer than the hour clean-up package but I was informed of that and given the option of not paying for additional time.

Joe Shipley cleaned up my computer which had become frozen. It's running much faster. His service was quick, and professional. This is the second time I've used him and I'll continue to use him in the future. It is very handy to have the work done remotely.

WOW, what a treat. My computer is now fast as lightening. I spent ninety minutes with Joe on the phone as he remotely worked on my computer. Super nice guy, great recommendations on how to not fall back in the same bogged down performance, knowledgeable and affordable. Can't ask for much more!

The session took about 90 minutes and was thorough in that he looked at many things on my PC that could be causing it to operate more slowly, suggested actions to mediate these and then carried out the necessary actions that I approved. He also left me with tools that I could use on my own in the future to keep the PC tuned for maximum efficiency.

He was very easy to work with. He explained everything he was doing which was very helpful as my technology knowledge is lacking. He quoted me an approximate price prior to coming to do the work and stayed within the quote. I would recommend him to my friends and family.

Joe did a great job. He makes sure everything is working properly; and he is very professional and pleasant to deal with. He really knows his stuff. Given what I needed I thought his price was very reasonable. I'll call him again when the need arises.

They were great! We did all the work over the phone. He took control of my computer and it took him an extra 30 minutes. I sat here and watched him do this too. He asked me certain files that I needed and didn’t need. We added some too. He also explained everything to me and their customer service was great too over the phone. He also gave me the software they used. They contacted me 3 hours after I purchased the deal and we set a time and date and he was there.

Service provider was very prompt in responding to my purchase. He got back to me within 1 day to follow-up and schedule appointment. He was flexible on scheduling our appointment and accomodated my schedule. Our appointment was booked after normal working hours and on the same day that we spoke by phone. He ran multiple programs remotely to improve the operation of my computer. He went above and beyond the primary issue that I had identified. He also provided software and instructions so that I can keep my computer clean on an ongoing basis moving forward without his assistance. Excellent service for the price that was paid.

I bought a laptop for my brother, and hoped that this company could transfer the files from the desktop to the laptop. It was going to take over 3 hours and we had to pay an additional fee to get all the files transferred. He should've told us it was too big of a thing to do. He talked to us and worked with us to try to get the files transferred. If we do need work in the future, I would contact him. He's very good at what he does but in this instance it didn't work out so well. He tried very hard to rectify it.

Please I never took this deal he was in Arizona and could not make a house call in Tulsa Ok to fix my computer so stop with the review stuff I review ALL the deals I make on Angies list Sincerely Justin Hawk

The technician took control remotely of my computer and was able to resolve all the issues I was hoping to get fixed. He was very kind to explain how to fix the problems in the future as well as how to avoid future issues caused by my children gaming on my laptop. I was very pleased with the service and would happily recommend Smart Ideas.

Joe is Fantastic! I used him in 2012 and was glad to have kept his number handy. My computer got infected with some malware and even though I was running some programs to detect/remove it, no luck. I phoned Joe (caught him on his way to an appt) and we set up to talk later in the day or next day. He phoned me today and was able to do the remote help again. He explains, in layman terms, what is doing and what I should continue to do. All is great. I highly recommend him - responsive, considerate, and helpful.

He took his time and made sure hte job was complete.
