Mike's Computer Repair

Mike was great. He answered our call immediately and was able to take control of our issue. Although he was completely busy, he remained patient and made us his priority.

I purchased a new wireless router on 5/21/14 to replace a 4 year old one that was dying. The set-up seemed pretty straight forward until I attempted to get some of the many wi-fi devices we use to log into the newly created network. None of the devices would accept the "Security Key" and nothing I tried seemed to work. I had gotten the network set up on one computer using a LAN cable to the the new wireless router but was having zero luck getting anything wireless to access and log into the network. I had used Mike's computer services previously for a remote virus removal and computer tune-up. Based on the quality of his work I sent Mike an email on Thursday morning around 9:00 AM outlining my problem and asking for his help. Within about an hour Mike called me. I explained my dilemma and he asked for the address where the computer / network were. After providing the address, Mike told me he had another appointment later that morning and could arrange to come by around 1:30 PM. Mike called me when he was headed to my home and I set off from work to meet him. I had told my wife he was en route and I arrived a short time after Mike had. By the time I got there Mike had figured out what was wrong - discovering the "Security Key" would not work unless you inserted the dash (-) marks into the alpha numeric string (something I had not tried nor had the instructions said to do or not to do) and he had all of our devices working on the new wireless network bu the time of my arrival. The last device to set-up was my smart phone and that took just a minute to program. Because he bases his services on an hourly rate, he said he felt badly since there was still time left in the hour so to give us our moneys worth he would do a quick review of the main computer for anything that might have crept in since he last did his clean-up. To his and my amazement the computer was in good shape. At that point Mike collected payment and headed out to his next customer. All told he was there slightly less than an hour but paying his basic hourly rate was the best money spent because not only did he get the network up and running he also gave us a clean bill of health on our computer. Mike was the consummate professional, told us when he would be there, he was on time, he fixed the problem promptly and also performed some additional services to better utilize the time we were paying for and then he was on his way.

Very fast and he had control of my computer. He removed things that caused problems later.

Mike helped me install new software to prevent future attacks/hacking. He also gave me tips on using my computer. He was invaluable and user-friendly.

Computer was s l o w and had a million pop ups and every click was blocked by another page. I could not get anything done. I decided to use Mike's services and he was able to fix all of the problems in a relativey short period of time. Use his computer services with the assurance that he can help. I was amazed at how quickly he fixed my "messed up" desktop.

It took longer than expected, so he had to charge me for more time. But then when it still was not working perfectly, he did some add'l work without charging me more. I think the responsiveness was top notch and well done. All work was done remotely, which is rather odd for me but seemed to work well, and a lot simpler than toting my entire desktop machine into someone's office.

He was recommended. I call him and he will call me back right away. He spends a lot of time working with me to correct stuff. He charges me what I think is a really minimum amount of money. He does a really good job. He is so nice. He is not condescending in anyway. The biggest repair he did for me was when I had my old computer. I needed to have it updated and I needed to have a bunch of viruses and malware taken off of it. I was trying to extend the life of it. When I got my new computer there was some kind of access to a viruses. The computer was doing a strange, strange stuff. He probably worked on it for 4 hours but he only charged me $130. I thought that was hardly worth his time. It was a PC. He was so responsive. I like his responsiveness. I have already used him today.

The deal for $55 is well worth it for the service provided because I didn't feel like spending the time cleaning up my computer. Mike was extremely nice, knowledgeable and communicated with me throughout the entire process. The extra money ($85) for the extra services was not worth it personally for me. All that was done was run a spyware program, install AVG, clean and immunize files and it had no impact on my computer's performance. Again, he is a really nice guy and is very competent but I just expected a little more due to having a knowledge of computers. I highly recommend the $55 deal though either if you don't feel like doing it yourself or if you have no computer literacy at all.

I was not able to use them because I own an apple computer.

Bought the $62 tune-up special because my year-old HP desktop was running slow. I signed up through Angie?s List and Mike called me promptly about setting up a time where he could perform his tune-up remotely on my computer. He was very courteous and was punctual. He explained what he would do and said I could watch on my computer while he did it. He first noted that I had some (reputable, I thought) PC tune-up software already installed and said he found them to not be good and if anything, they slowed the computer down even more. He poked around to see if I had the latest Windows updates installed, and enabled one update. He went back and uninstalled my previous Tune-up program, which I guess is okay even though he did not ask my permission first. He noted that I did not have a lot of add-ons, which is good since they slow a computer down. He did a Ookla SpeedTest to gauge my ISP cable-modem speed, which he noted was only 5-6 Mbps. And then he ran a SCANDISK function to see how my hard drive was performing. The drive seemed to be frozen in this test; slow at best, and Mike called me on the phone to see if I was following this part of his diagnosis. I said yes, and said that the drive seemed to be making a barely-audible ?click? every ten seconds. He immediately replied, ?Oh no! The ?Death Click?!? and said that my hard drive was getting ready to die, and in short, there was nothing more for him to do. I would need to get a new hard drive. With that, his diagnosis was over, and he wished me well. From start to finish, his time on my computer was about 20 minutes. Thinking I would try and return my computer to the retailer I bought it from, I backed up my files and reset the hard drive to ?factory settings? to clear it. I then rebooted it and since it seemed to run okay, I restored all my personal files via Carbonite, and it has been fine ever since. Bottom line: If you are not computer-savvy ... as in, you don?t know what a mouse looks like, you'll find Mike?s service to be useful. But I did not see Mike perform any function that could not have been gleaned by Googling ?How to Tune-up your PC.? But, like I said, Mike was courteous and punctual, and I did like the Ookla SpeedTest which I now use frequently to keep my Internet Service Provider honest.

Mike was great! He even came back to help me.

My Dell computer was having start up problems and freezing up once I got it booted up each morning. I called Mike Loren and explained the problem and he said my computer might need more than a computer clean up. He came to my house in a little over an hour the day I called him and after subjecting my computer to some test he told me that he would have to take my computer to his shop to determine what was wrong. He also told me if he couldn't fix it there would be no charge. He called me two days later and said the hard drive was failing and he replaced it with a used one and the computer was ready to go. He was back over to my house within an hour and reinstalled my computer and the computer is now operating like a new one. I had a analog cable on my monitor and agreed for him to replace it with a digital cable. I am more than satisfied with Mike's work and would use his services again if I have computer problem. It's nice to know that I have found an excellent computer repair man in the Phoenix, AZ area who will make house calls if necessary. Arranged a mutually convenient, same-day remote computer session to successfully get rid of my numerous malware infections.

It was good. He got to me the same day that I wanted the service because it was my day off. There is still something going on with it, but it was good. He ended up charging me for something else that he was doing. He seemed knowledgeable and everything was done that day.

Mike's services were excellent. He was very responsive after I placed the order and actually was able to run the diagnostics quicker than we had originally planned. He was exceptionally thorough. He's very knowledgeable and engaging. It became clear fairly quickly that my nearly 10 year old computer had simply outlived its useful life, and needed to be replaced. Mike was able to give me some tips to help me "limp along" for a bit until a new computer is in place, and gave me some excellent advice on several possible replacement computers. He's thoroughly professional, candid, and genuine pleasure to work with. If you are looking to do remote diagnostics as one step in evaluating the state of your computer equipment, Mike's your guy!

If anyone out there has kids and can not leave the house or take their computer somewhere, I would use Mike. He goes inot the computer from his own computer and cleans it up! AMAZING!

Went well, I talked to Mike several times, he spent about 20 minutes trying to load my computer with his repair program and was unsuccesful. He thought that my computer was so badly virus contaminatwed that it could not be repaired remotely. Since he was in Tempe and the computer was in N.Phx it was not feasable for him to pick up and deliver the computer for repair.I am satisified with his decision.

Mike was excellent in every way. I highly recommend him.

He solved the initial problems, but, after many hours of trying, he discovered a major problem he couldn't solve remotely. He advised me not to use my computer for sensitive things until a local technician could do a hands-on full scrub. I appreciated his candor, honesty and advice. I cannot imagine recommending anyone more fully than Mike. He is a lovely man, who does an excellent job for an incredibly fair price.

Could not be happier!! It's like having your own personal tech team in your home. My computer had several Malware issues and was long overdue for a good cleaning. Reboot was running slow and ads for software updates kept appearing in the middle of whatever I was working on. Mike cleaned out the Malware and got the computer speed back on course. He is very easy to work with regardless of your personal computer knowledge.

Mike drove out, saw the terrible condition my pc was in, and basically the whole thing came down to giving me free advice. He said he would do what he could if I wanted, but strongly advised buying a new computer if I didn't want to put money into an operating system that would most likely become riddled with malware and spyware again. He was honest, even though it didn't put money in his pocket. And to me, that is what mattered the most! If I have any problems in the future with my new pc, I will definitely be giving Mike my business.
