This is the company you want. Scott is the inspector you want. During our initial inspection, he was easy to schedule, arrived promptly, and even though he had to push another appointment back a little, he spent as much time with us as we needed to understand the issues and concerns he found with the property we are purchasing. He welcomed us following him around during the inspection, and was happy to answer every single question we came up with. I cannot say enough good things about his communication, understanding, compassion (we are nervous first-time buyers) and knowledge of home construction and the issues that arise. Scott's inspection was so thorough, he identified several broken roof trusses that had been repaired, yet he was concerned the repair was sub-standard. Sure enough, a subsequent recommended inspection by a qualified structural engineer identified the trusses as being improperly fixed. We paid for the infra-red inspection of the home's wallspace (the home is almost 40 years old) which revealed some fallen insulation and helped put to rest concerns over mold growth or systemic leaks, and also a two-sample mold test which tested our home's air against the quality of the air outside. While more expensive than the basic inspection service, I recommend both to anyone who wants to make sure they've checked all the boxes. But what was of the biggest value to us was their commitment to us as customers. With three days to go in our inspection period, I called the office (and spoke with the lovely and kind Shannon) because we'd recently discovered a shift in the floor of the slab-foundation home (we rent the property we are purchasing.) Immediately we were concerned about a heave or buckle in the foundation due to some drainage issues. Shannon got us on Scott's schedule immediately, and he came out the next day to look at the floor. He peeled back some of the carpet to confirm his suspicions that the foundation was cracked, but it was doing so along a line pre-set by the builder when the foundation was laid. Again, appropriate to the age and type of home. Scott's knowledge is amazing, his commitment to his clients is amazing, Shannon is amazing. There is no way to know exactly what you're getting into with the purchase of a home, but I cannot imagine any other home inspector providing as much peace-of-mind, reassurance, and responsiveness as Scott. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

The office was punctual and thorough in making sure our home was inspected twice, at the "dusty shoe" and "walk through" stages. The inspections were amazing, detailed and complete. The inspector met with us after each inspection to explain each and every item on his check list. The written report we received was professionally written and easy for a novice or professional to understand.The inspector worked professionally and in a non-threatening manner with our general contractor. The items on our list are being attended to and we are looking forward to getting our keys to our new home tomorrow. We are so grateful for Homewerks and the services they provide. We highly recommend them.

Thought he did a good job but I think he should have paid more attention to water prone areas, turns out of have a mold issue in water closet.........both toilets were leaking and had cups so u think he would look more into certain areas, probably have more area's as well. Disappointed in the obvious stuff I was concerned about, he wasn't concerned so I wasn't.........now I'm concerned........honestly will never use in inspector again...........I have 2 eyes and a nose.

Outstanding. Scott was extremely profession. Spent close to 6 hours on the house. At the conclusion he walked me through all findings in a great level of detail. Took the time needed to answer all of my questions. His report was very detailed and easy to follow. Have purchases nine home and his inspection was by far the best I have every had.

Arranged appointment with Shannon - very pleasant to work with. Scott was prompt - showed up early and was already checking out things when we arrived. We discussed specific issues and then he went to work for about two hours checking everything out. When he was done he explained everything to us in a clear and concise manner. The seller had not turned on the gas as requested, so Scott has to make a second trip for which we will be billed an extra $125. Not his fault and we expect the homeowner to reimburse us this extra expense - after all, he has to come from Mesa to Estrella Mountain Ranch area and that is at least one hour round trip for him. Very thorough - report is very lengthy (about 30 pages) complete with photos of areas of concern with arrows pinpointing the exact location. Very pleasant team to work with and recommend them highly **He even went up on the roof - many inspectors do not!

When Scott got there, we chatted about the home for about 10 min so he could learn more about our concerns and ask us questions about the home so he would be better prepared to inspect the home. The inspection took about 3 hrs. and he was able to eliminate the need thermal image the entire home as he felt it wouldn't be of value, but he did thermal image area's we had concern or he had concern to eliminate any doubt. After Scott finished, he went over the inspection and summarized some of the major things he saw and let me know when he would have the inspection report returned to us. I will be using Scott for any future inspections and would recommend him to any friend or family member!!

Scott was so awesome to work with. He did a home inspection on a home we were purchasing. Was able to come out only 3 days after we signed the purchase contract. He was friendly and so thorough. He walked the property for almost an hour with me pointing out all the major repair items. By the next day he had emailed me a full report with photos and called to see if I had any questions. Inspection also included termite and pool which saved me time and money. Thank you!!!

This is the second time we've hired Scott and we can highly recommend him. We've had experiences with other home inspectors, and find Scott the most thorough! Scott's reports make a home look like a wreck but you will certainly know everything there is to know about the house. Some items will not be of concern, i.e,, normal as construction ages and settles, etc. Others reveal the need for immediate repair. He also mentions areas to watch for future issues, always helpful. Scott has broad knowledge of construction and is willing to share his knowledge if you ask him. His summary is at the beginning of the report,, which we find handy. And even though I didn't have my Angie's discount coupon, he gave me the discount.

We booked the inspection online, received a same day call to set a time, and were able to have the inspection conducted two days later. We have had three pre-purchase home inspections in the last 10 years, this being the first using Homewerx, and if we find ourselves purchasing again in the future we will be using this company again. Scott conducted by far the most thorough inspection I've seen thus far. He was great at explaining any and all issues found in an easy to understand way, so that we could more easily make the choice to move forward with the purchase or not and be able to prioritize any repairs needed after purchase. The documentation provided from the inspection was instrumental in the final offer negotiation. The price of the inspection was slightly higher than the inspection companies provided by the realtor to chose from, but the difference was worth it in my opinion due to the caliber of the service provided.

They gave a full report, they were very thorough and looked at everything. He made some recommendations and the home builder came out and made some repairs based on the report. He did a really good job.

Scott did the inspection on a home we wanted to purchase. I called around to several companies and his prices were right in line with the others but ended up being a bit cheaper with the Angie's List coupon. He was extemely thorough which is a wonderful thing when you're purchasing a new home. He gave us a verbal report on site and answered all of our questions. He provided a very detailed, written report by the following morning. I would use his services again.

Because Homewerx never called back, I will never get a chance to experience their "A" rating service.. Even though they did not return my phone call, I do not think it is fair to give them a complete "F" to tarnish their overall rating by others who did have a good experience. However,, I am giving them a D for their lack of responsiveness, which reflects on their professionalism - particularly in providing a service when time is of the essence.

This was for a purchase of a home built in 1955 that has undergone many renovations over the years, and we were concerned the work may have been completed by DIY people who should not have undertaken things like electrical or plumbing, and with a home this old, we didn't know if there would be any insulation in the walls. Scott provided an incredibly thorough inspection of the home, noting defects in both description and photos. The report is clear and concise, as you would expect, provided on time. I particularly valued the thermal imaging - shows all the weak spots for insulation, shows leaks in the A/C ducting, revealed water leaking from plumbing (also noted in the written section as 'evidence of leaking', but this shows precisely where the leaks are and the size of the water 'mark' reveals how serious - this was an excellent add-on to the basic inspection. I was unable to attend the inspection, but called Scott after receiving the report, and he was very generous with his time in describing the defects and their level of seriousness to a relative layman. Most of us will only buy a home occasionally, and are not likely to know what makes a "good" home inspection. I selected Scott because they have the most positive reviews on A-L, and my experience reflects that very high recommendation. My realtor said he's never seen such a detailed home inspection, and would recommend not only Scott but the thermal imaging inspection as well. Well worth the $715 on a 3,000 ft home and garage. Note: I rated the price at 'B - Good' because I have no basis of comparison. This should not be construed as a negative, just that I thought the price was good for the level of detail.

Scott was timely and thorough. Because my husband is no longer able to handle much maintenace around the house, I wanted to be with Scott for all of the inspection...except the roof and attic. He carefully explained things about the operation of the home and location of utility controls. The home had fallen out of escrow and inspected by someone else prior to our purchase. Scott found items that had not been addressed in the previous inspection. Some were very simple(very loose toilet connection) and others definitely needed to be attended to (unusual and loud sounds in the bedroom related to the air conditioner). The report was very helpful and the pictures were essential since there were language issues with the seller. Also, the temperature the day of the inspection was well over 100 degrees and access to the attic was very awkward. He handled everything well. I would definitely hire him again. Also, kudos to his wife for her professionalism in setting up the appointment.

He was very thorough and he was very patient. He explained things very well. He sent a very nice write-up afterwards. But while he was inspecting he took the time to explain everything to us when we were at the house. His billing was very competitive with everybody else.

After a 2 hour inspection, Scott wrote a 27-page report of his findings, some of them factual and some erroneous. 1. The 27 page report was mostly boilerplate with a list of 46 action items embedded in the report and repeated in multiple sections. This made the report difficult to follow and repetitious in nature. 2. Some of the pictures were difficult to locate with respect to location on the house. 3. Most of the items were nitpicking and some were plain wrong. 4. In addition, the inspector missed some of the items that needed correction (and that have now been corrected) 5. The inspector took licence to offer a broad, sweeping, opinionated statement regarding the "quality" of the house and the "lack of maintenance" even though most of the items discovered were minor. I pointed out to Scott that his job was to report on specifics and not to offer opinions such as the ones expressed. When asked to address those issues, Scott was very defensive and refused to amend the report. I would not hire this home inspector again because of the issues above discussed.

Shannon was very pleasent and accomadateing when setting the appointment. Scott showed up on time and was very professional and easy to talk to .I think he did a very good job at finding some existing problems with my new home that if not corrected will cause many larger problems later,and$$$$$. He also informed me of many good things about my house,so I feel very satisfied with the job and the company as a whole . The report ,with pictures , was sent to the builder for repairs.

I have only worked with one other inspector so my basis of comparison is small. Overall the inspection was great, but the follow up and recommendations led to some unnecessary challenges as the close of sale approached . Scott's inspection of the property was very thorough and informative. He walked us through many of the positive aspects in the home, things to watch and issues that should be addressed prior to purchase. After the inspection is where we ran into some issues. The electronic inspection report did not arrive until 3 days after the home inspection, which hindered our ability to negotiate repairs with the seller. Furthermore, Scott was very specific regarding some moisture problems in the home. As a home owner you would want to know this, but when buying I learned it's better to be vague when requesting repairs. In this case we asked the seller to fix the plumbing problem Scott identified; however, upon further inspection the problem was a roof leak. In the end we were disappointed that the report was so specific to jump to conclusions that the moisture was plumbing related and we did not have sufficient time to review the initial report prior to asking the seller to remedy the issue. Scott was very apologetic and handled the situation professionally in the end, but the experience was far from perfect.

We were in the process of buying a house without a real estate agent and needed a really thorough home inspection so we could negotiate with the seller directly. We needed someone to uncover all the hidden stuff so we would not make a mistake in this purchase. Scott spent alot of time doing just that. He produced a very thorough, complete and timely report with great pictures. He even took the extra time to explain and demonstrate the pool cleaning equipment which we were unfamiliar with. Scott said he would be glad to speak with the seller on our behalf if needed. The home inspection report was sent to the seller who agreed to fix everything. We loved working with this business and we would certainly recommend them highly.
