First Impression Ironworks

My wife and I took off work a couple hours early to visit the showroom. We walked in, stood around for 10 minutes, and were ignored by four different people. One guy was chit-chatting with another co-worker, looked me in the eyes, and kept on talking. He finished his conversation, got up, walked right past us and back again, and ignored us the whole time. We'll take our business elsewhere. Sad because we were planning on a significant purchase. We had much higher expectations of a company rated so well on Angie's List.

I had First Impression Security Door installed in my front door. I love the contemporary look we designed together and get compliments on it all the time. Besides adding to the appearance of my house, I feel safer when someone comes to the door or when we leave the regular door open for a breeze during the day or night. Great, sturdy quality and we were very pleased with the installation job. We plan on getting a double security door for our arcadia door soon. Maybe best of all was the low or no pressure sales team. I guess they know the doors sell themselves!

A quality experience end to end. The doors are spectacular. Well made, attractive, functional. Really outstanding. The sales process was super. The sales person came out, took us through the options, helped us to make choices and took all the necessary measurements. When they left, we were so pleased with our purchase. The installation process was great. The installer came out, met with us to communicate the work that he was going to do and then he set about doing it in a prompt, efficient way. He adjusted the locks to work with our master keys and explained how to care for the doors. When he was done with the install, we were even more pleased with our purchase. It was a great experience.

Working with the professionals at First Impression from ordering through installation was a fantastic experience. The experience was just exceptional and you can't always say that in this day and age. The security doors were made very well with lots of security features. Our installer, Isaac, was terrific. He showed up on time and ensured that the doors were installed properly. He was neat and clean and ensured all the installation debris was cleaned up and that everything met my satisfaction. He was just polite and a joy to work with. I highly recommend the materials, workmanship, administrations details, and installation of these doors.

I met Ashley at my neighbors home doing there estimate. Later I followed up with her to get a quote, Ashley is very sweet but must be extremely busy as she doesn't return calls for several days. The estimate was high so I did get several quotes. Since First Impressions was able to sit with me and help design a door we went with them. I was extremely happy with the gal that designed the door with me! Thats about it! I called FI on Thursday Oct 15, 2015 to check the status of the door and if there were any complications delaying delivery on Monday. Everything was great and told they would be out first thing Monday morning. Taking the day off from work to accomodate the installation of the door first thing on Monday and it was a good thing I did take the day off because my first morning appt. turned out to be the end of the day Monday appt. When the door was installed the frame was the average size frame and not the taller 7ft size as measured by Ashley. So the installer had to Mickey Mouse the installation to fit the door temporarily until the correct size was made. I ordered a piece of removable glass to interchange with the screen on cold days and during installation of the door the glass was placed in the garage and not even tried in the frame. Since the frame of the door was incomplete the installer would then schedule a later completion date for the frame to be installed. I was so irritated at the whole ordeal being told first appt of the day and all was well to pretty much next to last appt of the day and the door was incomplete! After installation I noticed the screen was really loose so I called First impressions and the screen is NOT warrantied so that was an additional trip on my dime but after all they would cut me a deal and come back out for 60.00. WOW!!! Really!!!! I scheduled an appt and later cancelled it, and at this time am being harrassed saying they've called, emailed and tried to collect their 60.00 for my re-screening of my door. (Hello George, I cancelled this appt) I will be sent to collections for this,and nothing was ever done! This company is extremely incompetant and yes they have beautiful doors but at what price are you willing to pay? They do not communicate between themselves and no one knows what the other is doing. For my follow up appt to complete the door I was called 6 times with different install times when I called while the installer was here to set up the final installation time for the correct frame. 6 additional calls with various times for my follow up appt So UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Save yourself the headache and go with another company! Maybe this company was good at one time but unless you have unlimited funds, RUN!!! BEWARE of the interchangeable glass, not advisable unless you have 3 men to help take the screen out and place the extremely heavy piece of glass in the door. Great concept, poor idea! Hercules does not live at my house so the glass will rarely be used!

Our Technician arrived on time and acted in a professional manner. He worked for about 5-6 hours straight(no break for lunch). We were impressed by his tenacity to do a good job and try to complete the work. We LOVE our doors!!!

First Impressions was wonderful to work with! They followed through on everything exactly as promised and on time, and kept me informed every step of the way. The quality, appearance and fit of the security door and window guard are outstanding, and their customer service is top notch. I will definitely use First Impressions when it comes time to purchase and install sun screens for the windows.

The sells person was very knowledgeable and very helpful. The door was ready when they said it would be. The installer was very professional and did a great job. He was there on time and went straight to work. The door is beautiful and very well made. It is completely sealed around the edges so bugs cant get in. We are very happy with this company and highly recommend them.

I've had the door a few years and it looks and works great and I still get compliments. I used a template design that I was able to modify to my specifications. Every employee from the salesperson in the Home and Garden Show, to the showroom salesperson and the installer were professional and friendly.

We spent $11,000 on a custom front door which over a month later still does not have glass inserts and has plywood. The first glass inserts arrived damaged and we were told new ones would arrive within a week. After a week, I called and they had not been ordered. I was told it would be done right then and they would arrive shortly. Many weeks and phone calls later, they reported the new ones arrived with one being made backwards. They do not have any idea when the glass will be ready for install as they say they are at the mercy of their vendor. We were told when we purchased the custom door that it is all done in house. This however is not true. They outsource the glass we chose for the door and claim to have no control over it and say they are at the mercy of the vendor. I received an email yesterday they have no ETA for the glass. We have had plywood for our front door now for over a month even though they claim we are a VIP client. I would highly recommend using another company if you are considering an iron door. The level of customer service was fantastic on the sales side but the installation and management is most disappointing and unprofessional.

My issue with this company is their service. We spent a lot of money on their product and have had numerous issues requiring warranty service. My wife called for a service appointment to fix the key lock which stopped working. We were scheduled for yesterday (11/13/15) before noon. No service person showed up. We called the Service Desk and were told we did not have an appointment. When we insisted that we did they wanted to know who we talked to and when we called like we might be making the whole thing up! This is at least the third time this exact same thing has happened to us. You make an appointment. You wait all day. No one comes. It is so irritating. I would not buy from First Impressions again (we have bought four doors/gates from them). Their hype does not match the reality of their poor service.

Unfortunately, we could not be here when the door was installed and a friend came over when they did it. They removed our doorbell (after another contractor had moved it to be out of the way of the door), but they did not replace the doorbell. It is still not replaced. The door also does not close properly. Though we called the first week of October and explained in a voice mail the problem, and asked for a return call, we have not received one. We would use them again if they deal with our issues.

Ashley came by to discuss the cost and procedure. She was very patient and professional. I told her I liked her company but another company came in a bit lower and she matched it and even beat them by a nudge. I received an e-mail the next day telling me what to expect and giving me a time frame and letting me know the installation department would call for a date. Great. Two weeks later, no call. I called them and we played phone tag a few times. That was a little frustrating however they came when expected and the installation was seamless. We are thinking of putting in a security door and would definitely use them again.

I really liked working with First Impression, they did a great job with the purchase of our security door and follow-up to schedule the installation. The whole process was great and I definitely would recommend them to my family and friends. I love the quality of their security door and it makes my house look even better now.

Process from top to bottom was awesome. David Bayer the salesperson was super friendly, knowledgeable and explained every detail to me. He took measurements quickly and accurately and made sure to make me aware of every deal they currently had (some doors were on special, etc.). We originally ordered a french door setup for the house we were living in at the time. Things happened and we moved shortly after ordering that door. Once we knew we were moving I called First Impression, they cancelled that order, and applied the money we'd already paid to the new doors we needed for our new home. There was zero back and forth and they simply took care of it. Installation was on time and the technician finished in the amount of time he'd expected to be there. Super friendly and upon completion showed me everything about the doors, explained maintenance and provided me with some additional literature on care for the door. All in all a wonderful experience and we will recommend them again in the future.

Service was exactly as described both time and detail. Work areas were cleaned at end and environment was cleaned as the work was performed (inside home with door work).

It took 3 weeks to complete. I was told it was a 4 hour job by the service department. 4 different technicians came to my home on 4 seperate dates unprepared to perform the simple task of installing a security door and a gate. So, the 4 hour time line turned into 16 hours! I checked them on Angie List, found them in the monthly catalog and I was very disappointed and frustrated because I expected them to be professionals. I would not recommend First Impressions to any of my friends or neighbors.

Everything went great. they were prompt and on time. The gate fit beautifully. It took the exact time we expected & it went very smooth!

I am very happy with my new custom steel entry doors and window. Very good quality and high end work. Natalie was the customer service manager that coordinated the project. She did a great job in making sure the project progressed as it should, while taking care on any concerns we had along the way. Rich was the experienced installer that did a great job with the install and making sure everything was perfect for us. You certainly get what you pay for and this is custom high end work and fabrication to spec. They supply CAD drawings prior to install. Thanks Mark, Natalie and Rich for the beautiful door and window.

We had First Impression install a security door on our front door in September of 2012. Even though the door looks nice in terms of design we have had functionality issues with the door in terms of the performance of the slimline lock/handle and ease of opening the door. First Impression came out recently and addressed several issues with the door and it is definitely easier to open now. We appreciate their willingness to work with us to resolve these problems.

I went from the link on Angie's List to this providers web site. In order to receive a price quote I needed to enter my contact information, which I did. This was on Friday or Saturday. On Wednesday I received a phone message asking me to call them. I did call on Thursday. I was told in order to get a price quote a representative would need to come to my home to measure the door. I said it was just a normal single front door and asked for an estimate on the call. I was told "there's no standard size door" so they would need to come up. I knew that was absolutely untrue which told me this was not a provider to be trusted. At that point I said I was not interested.

While the installer did not show up during the window that was set and we had to call to find out what was happening, he did show up about an hour later and did the job extremely nicely and within a reasonable amount of time. The finished product is beautiful and we are very pleased with the quality and the look.

They were great and reasonably priced.

We paid the full price upfront at order appointment. Scheduled installation 5 weeks in advance of installation date. This date was set by dealer not what we wanted therefore requiring us to reshape our shedule as needed by 1st Impression Security Doors. 30 minutes prior to scheduled arrival to install they called to inform that their installer called in sick. So no installation that day (their day) and installation rescheduled. chedule On the revised install date their installer arrived as re-scheduled. Upon greeting he told me that he would install what he could, but when he loaded his truck he found there was a miss made part. So he installed what he could & would come back. I didn't stay home to watch his total installation, but did observe that he, the installertalked to himself as he worked. He told me that installation would take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours per door. My wife was home all day long, but I went golfing. The installation took about 9 1/2 hours & my wife commented to me whan I returned from golfing about his talking to himself. I looked at the doors & could see a discoloration around the front door. The light wasn't good as it was getting dark out after 6 PM. The installer sprayed some WD-40 on a rag and said it was just some dust & to use WD-40 as a cleaner. It seemed to take care of the discoloration. the installer told me someone would call to schedule the installation of the mismade part. I was upset about the rescheduling & now about having to schedule another visit. So when the scheduler called to "tell me" when they'd be back she sheduled us for a Tues. I agreed and rescheduled my day to be available. On Friday the week before she called back to reconfirm the Tues. installation. Then on Monday she called again to confirm the installation, but this time she said Wed. I just said ok and rescheduled myself again. On Tuesday morning an installer arrived to install the mismade part. I asked why he was here on Tuesday instead of the rescheduled wednesday? He said it showed Tuesday on his work schedule not Wed. & I explained what I was scheduled. The installer told me thus happens more often than he likes & that it had just happened to him the prior week. Since I happened to be there I said ok lets get it done. The mismade part was on the front door the same door that had the discoloration. So I pointed that out to him. He looked carefully at it in the good morning light and said the workmanship wasn't good that the door would have to be entirely removed & remanufactured. Great then I showed him some other issues with the insulation around the other 2 doors. He said he could fix them & would. Then I showed him on the kitchen door that the original installer's driver had slipped off a screw & he had put a big gouge in the frame of the kitchen door & that he'd tried to cover it up with some touch up paint. He said he couldn't fix it that it would have to go back to the shop to be repaired. So he took pictures & called the office to inform them that 2 of the 3 doors needed to be reworked that they'd have to come back for remanufacturing. We were having a big party on Sunday for the SuperBowl & didn't want the mess of having the doors removed then. So the door removal was scheduled for Monday after the SuperBowl. So they came and removed the doors. Re-worked them & came again to reinstall. Finally we got doors that were acceptable. This process took over 3 months and we scheduled being home & available for them for 5 days. This is a process where 1 day is reasonable, 5 is not! During the process & after scheduling 3 of the days I asked for a 10% refund of what I had paid for these doors for all the inconvenience of now 3 times having to be available per their schedule. She told me she'd have to check with management & would call me back that day. She called & said someone else would call me that day. No one called that day or the next day or the following day by 4pm so I called them. They told me they didn't have an answer yet but would call the next day. That didn't happen either. So I kept calling & getting told they were working on it. After the final installation & getting no more calls back regarding the refund request I called again with my request. I had dropped my demand from 10% to $400 just so we'd be talking a specific number. I had not been able to talk to anyone but the installtion scheduler & now she's telling me she's only authorized $200 & offered it. I refused & asked for management. I got a call back from her boss. he also said he was only authorized $200 and told me about our society expecting to much. What a bunch of bologna! I refused his offer of $200 & told him to go to real management. After 2 or 3 more calls he offered $300. He had me worn down so I accepted $300. they sent a check a few days later. What a fiasco! And I forgot to include earlier in my request for a refund for our inconvenience that the scheduler had the saleman that came to our home call me to try to strong arm me into dropping the request. he accused me of being to "dramatic" & was very rude about it. I told him to never call me again and called the company to inform them of his calls & that I never wanted to hear from him again.

The Installer was timely and very polite. The door was of good quality. The unfortunate issue was the installer was inexperienced and probably not ready to install on his own. Took excessive amount of time to install and there were a number of unsatisfactory installation problems. The company was responsive to my concerns and after a couple of scheduling issues took care of the problems and I am a satisfied customer. Even though the problems I had should not happen this company understands the concept of customer service and communication therefore I would highly recommend.
