Let me begin by saying that my interaction with Craig and AZ NativeScapes has been the most pleasurable experience I've ever had with any contractor by far. I'm so happy with my decision to have Craig and his crew transform my barren, dirt filled backyard into an amazing outdoor place to be; I can't say enough good things. Craig's passion and enthusiasm for his scope of work is contagious and is shared amongst his hard-working and respectful crew. Of all the landscaping companies I contacted, Craig was the only one who brought forth lots of ideas and suggestions for the project and explained rationale for why he uses such products or materials to ensure things are done right the first time. He was also very willing to revisit the site when I wanted to add to the scope of the project. Throughout the process, Craig was very patient to all my questions, readily shared his knowledge, and was easy to communicate and interact with and really tries to understand his customers. He showed up on time for each and every meeting from the initial consultation to the finished walk-through. He was even very accommodating in scheduling the backyard renovation to work out with my busier than normal work schedule which I greatly appreciated and found valuable. I'm absolutely thrilled with the end result, quality of workmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail. Craig was on site the entire time with his crew except when getting materials or lunch for his guys. They did many extras and even improved the drainage which I wasn't expecting. I can't believe how hard they worked and how much they accomplished in one day. I felt they treated my property as their own and I couldn't find one thing to clean up after the job was done. They even washed down the street and smoothed out rock in my front yard so that you'd never a skid loader ever touched it. It was a pleasure to work with Craig and his crew. They were enjoyable to be around and I welcomed their good attitudes and a few laughs. The end result was better than I was expecting or able to envision. It was worth saving up for a long time in order to have them completely transform the space and I appreciate the backyard now so much. I am so pleased with their efforts and absolutely love my outstanding new backyard. I highly recommend AZ NativeScapes to anyone and would happily be a reference to any future customers considering their services. I look forward to using them again for any future needs. Our existing irrigation system was over 15 years old and was beginning to spring leaks throughout our property. After receiving a very competitive estimate, we contracted with AZ NativeScapes to remove the old irrigation system and to replace it with a new system. They were able to complete the installation in one day to our total satisfaction. We found Craig Rawlings and his team to be very professional and considerate. They use only the best materials and latest technology. Their work is top notch and we would highly recommend them to anyone considering an installation of this nature.

Front yard was a mess. Bermuda grass had taken over. Could not keep up with the growth. My spouse and I wanted to install desert landscape in front yard to give the house a cleaner look. After reviewing and getting multiple bids for the yard, we decided on AZ native scapes. We were NOT disappointed. They performed the job within city specifications, which now we will get a rebate from the city of Mesa. Yard looks great. They hauled away the little small rocks on the other side of the house which were annoying. They leveled the yard out so no more ankle twisting ruts. They were able to save our non-flowering beautiful plum tree and incorporate it in the design. Craig took the time to explain the irrigation and why he uses certain products. We went to the nursery and I was able to choose the plants I wanted. ( Craig patiently explained how well and which plants hold up better in our heat). They got the yard done in a day which considering how tough the grass was, that in itself was amazing. Our yard looks uniform on both sides. So pretty!! Very grateful to Craig and his crew. They also put in a drip line in my raised flowerbed in the back yard. Would recommend to anyone.

Craig and his staff were a joy to be around. They were very punctual and worked hard from approx. 6:00 am to 3:30-4:00 pm with only a brief lunch break. There was absolutely no problems, did everything he told us would be done, plus some. The backyard looks like something from a magazine. It is beautiful and we are very happy with the results. We couldn't be happier with the total, final outcome. When the weather cools off a bit we will out in the backyard a lot! We would highly recommend AZ Native Scapes and Craig Rawlings to anyone wanting to redo their front/backyards.

Craig gave us a very detailed estimate, in person. He is enthusiastic about his work, straightforward, and has great people skills. I think he would have done fantastic work if we would have hired him, but we desired less than what he was offering (we wanted to do a lot of the work ourselves).

Craig and his crew were excellent. He takes the time to explain the best options for your property and helps you to design a yard that you will be very happy with. From initial layout ideas, to plant selection, to listening and addressing all of my and my girlfriend's concerns, to the finished product, the whole experience was great. His mindset seems to be the same as mine, do it once, do it right, and no shortcuts. The materials used were of the highest quality and the end results were excellent. He also helped to fix up some issues with the front of my home that had been done by another company with no additional expense to me. I learned the hard way from that other company that the low bid probably won't get you the best work or the best results. To that end, I have no reservations recommending Craig and AZ NativeScapes for any landscaping that you need done. Great guy, fair price, a real pleasure to work with. They should be on your short list for any landscaping needs.

Let me start by saying I would very highly recommend Craig and his teem at AZ NativeScapes for any landscaping job you may have. We recently moved into a new home with a completely dirt backyard, so after checking reviews on Angies List I call Craig at AZ NativeScapes for a quote. Before Crag arrived we already had an idea of what we were looking for in a backyard living space but after meeting with Crag and his knowledge of AZ landscaping we then had an idea of what we really needed and had overlooked. We then hired Crag on the spot. The process started with a very enjoyable shopping trip with Crag for rocks, boulder, plants and other needed materials. Being able to pick out the needed materials in person is so much better then looking at a photo or a page from a catalog as we knew exactly what we were getting. From the start to the end Crag was there with his very hard working teem to answer any question we may have had and keep us up to dated with the daily progress of the job. The teem was there for four very long hot days and at the end we could not have been any more satisfied with the finished product. Crag even went above and beyond to fix problems due to poor workmanship on our existing landscaping at no cost to us. The key was attention to detail that resulted in a wonderful backyard living space that we will enjoy for years to come thanks to AZ NativeScapes.

Came out beautiful. It was a huge job that i had procrastinated on. He was not the cheapest estimate i got. But he was willing to discuss the different options and price differences. He said it would take one solid day. It did and it came out great. I would recommend him to anyone with such a huge job. He will discuss it with you in detail and there is no short cutting. I expected areas to be done with less enthusiasm and that was not the case. It all came out great and I will call him for any landscape work i will need to get done in the future.

Our home was in very desperate need of a complete ?landscape makeover?. My wife did a thorough job going through Angie?s List and getting bids so that we had a baseline to compare the scope of our work against. Craig?s repeated four-year record of being on Angie?s List Super Service Award (2011-2014) made him our first choice when we requested our bids. Craig showed up promptly at the time he scheduled with us and was very professional in his appearance and demeanor. We had a few ?must have? ideas in mind (xeriscape, patio, small water feature), but were open to various design options, of which he had many. As he walked the property (our 1500 sq.ft. house sits on a 7000 sq.ft. lot), Craig gently suggested several ideas that he felt could work with the size & shape of our lot ? and our budget. We were very impressed with his attention to detail, making sure to be as inclusive as he could be so as not to overlook anything. When we were done walking the property, Craig sat down with us and wrote up a scope of work for everything (concrete removal, drip irrigation, plants, rocks & boulders, flagstone, new patio, minor electrical for a fountain, raised bed vegetable garden, etc.) right then and there. How refreshing! The estimate came in right where we expected it to. With several other house projects currently underway, we came up with a mutually agreeable start date and eagerly awaited our new landscaping. As we got closer to the start date, Craig was in constant communication with us as he/we began to prepare (we chose to shop for a few of our own plants and pots that we wanted to use on the project). We found Craig to be very helpful and available to answer our questions. He was always very prompt in replying to our phone calls and text messages. During this pre-start period, Craig also made himself available to meet and pick out rock and boulders at a local materials center. As we mentioned earlier, there were other home improvement projects in the works and so we were working around those. Craig contacted us during this time and asked if it would be okay to start some of the demolition/removal work. We found this to be very helpful and coordinated nicely in preparing the site (as well as sensitive to not conflicting with the other work going on). Craig was continuing to thoroughly impress us. Work was to set to begin on a Monday and Craig called us the Thursday before to reconfirm and lay out the actual day-to-day ?work plan? he anticipated. Monday arrived and Craig showed up right on time with a five-man work crew. We were very impressed that Craig stayed on-site the whole time work was being done. Communication was clear and dynamic throughout the entire project. Craig reconfirmed details with us every step of the way and solicited our input. He and the crew worked long days, constantly in motion and even finished a day of ahead of schedule! Craig?s attention to detail did not end there; upon completion of our beautiful landscaping he made several follow up visits over the next week just to make sure that the plants were taking hold, ensuring that irrigation water cycles and fine tuning flow rates were adequate, etc. We saw this job with Craig as an investment in our property for many years to come and are VERY happy with our landscaping. The house is truly the ?talk of the neighborhood? and several neighbors have already come by asking for contact info on who did the work. The professionalism, attention and care Craig and his crew brought to our job was outstanding! We will be using him for all of our future landscape design needs and highly recommend his work!

I found AZ NativeScapes on Angie's List and decided to get an estimate from them because of their star rating. I went directly to the website and submitted a request. The site specified a response within 24 hours. Two days later, I followed up with a call and got a message indicating AZ NativeScapes was not taking further business at this time. I don't have any issue with the owner's decision, but, it would be very easy to leave that same message on the website and avoid a frustrated potential customer.

Set an appointment up with them to come out today at 8:00am. Never happened. I re-arranged my schedule took the kids in early to school, only to be sitting here waiting. Very disappointed.

AZ Nativescapes did a great job. Craig of Nativescapes walked through the project and my goals before providing an estimate. Then he and his crew arrived on a Saturday at 630 am and worked straight through to finish. Their work and attention to detail were terrific. They fully completed the project and left my front and back yards in perfect condition. The price was reasonable for the amount and quality of the work they did. Craig also gave a lot of helpful advice on other home improvement matters I'm interested in that were not part of their work. Would definitely use them again for any future landscaping projects.

Why I was so happy with Craig and his team: - Professional, courteous and hardworking crew - Our things were treated with respect (patio, furniture, bench etc) - I was very happy with the design suggestions. I was requesting an estimate from another Landscaper but the only thing I got to hear was ?What would you like?? and they didn?t come up with any designs or nice twists in the back yard whereas Craig came up with refreshing ideas. - Loved that he helped me pick the plants. I really didn?t want to do the exhausting and time consuming research how big and tall a plant is going to be and what kind of sun exposure it needs etc. With Craig you had your encyclopedia right with you at the nursery. - Craig is the best project manager I got to know (and I did quite a few remodels). The project was for me a breeze because of: o You will only be contacted by Craig or team lead if there is an issue and/or a design decision needs to be done. (You would think that this is normal, but trust me, in my experience it is not!) o Every once in a while he will walk you through the yard to give you the status report of the project (Can?t remember if it was daily or not, but in any case I had the feeling it was sufficient and that I was kept in the loop) o Craig was regularly on project site to oversee and help. (Again, not normal in my experience). o Craig is patient and listens to all your concerns you may have and takes the time to explain it to you in every detail. Contacted Craig during warranty in regards to the grading. No problems to get him back on the site. He was very kind and professional and we figured out that what I observed was due to a user error with the timer. He took the time and explained the timer to me again (*sigh*, it is not as easy as you would think. Quite a tricky timer). I was very happy all around. Would definitely recommend the company!

Craig and his awesome crew worked on my backyard to solve a draining problem I was concerned with. The existing River Rock trench was inadequate so this was dealt with. The new trench along with the replenished Red Rock in my backyard looks great! His crew also fixed an issue by the front gate. It appeared the drainage holes at the bottom of my block walled fence were useless because of the way the fence's foundation was set in many years ago. No problem for these guys, they fixed everything in a timely manner. The yard now has drainage and it looks wonderful!

They were wonderful to work with. Very knowledgeable and down to earth guy. I work recommend him in a heartbeat.

Craig was amazing. He responded quickly to my call and when he came out he gave me an honest and thorough proposal. They started work within a few days. His crew was hardworking, professional, and respectful. They worked hard from 8 a.m. To 5:30 p.m. Craig was onsite overseeing the project and was good about communicating any modifications needed due to the complexity of our job. He was diligent to find a better dump solution so that we wouldn't have to pay extra for some modifications needed. He went above and beyond, fixing pavers that were not apart of his scope of work and using the extra rock for our side yard for no extra charge. Craig and his crew were a joy to work with and I will gladly use them again in the future.

Original fire pit had stopped working. Called Craig on Wed and he was at our house the next day. We decided to completely rebuild the pit. He was at our house on Sat with two men and spent the day building a completely new pit with stacked stone exterior. Professional and great attention to detail. Cleaned up and done by 5:30 Sat evening. Would have him back for any landscaping task we might encounter.

Update 1/21/15 - This company came to my home and approached me regarding my review. They were very initimidating and verbally aggressive. I will never use this company in the future.

Craig, the owner, is as experienced and hands on as you can get. He was on site everyday and worked with us to get the best yard/price combination for our neighborhood. He is very cost conscious and helped to find alternatives that accomplished everything we wanted done without compromising the appearance of our yard. We had our concrete sidewalks demolished and a new brick paver sidewalk installed on two sides of the house. The work was impeccable. We also had a brick wall surround put in for artificial turf which looks as good as the paver sidewalk. Craig walked us through the project several times to get our final opinions prior to completion. He came back to check on everything a few days after the work was done to make sure we were satisfied with the landscape. Overall our experience with Craig was great from beginning through the install and follow up. I would recommend AZ Nativescapes to my neighbors without hesitation.

The project went extremely well, I am very happy with the paver work that was done. I am ok with the flagstone walk-way but I should have went with my first instinct and had a sidewalk.....and I need to adjust my gate now as it is no longer square...noticed too late after work was completed, I am confident if I had brought it up that the issue would have been fixed. Craig was awesome, he helped me with the design and was able to help me visualize the end result, he was too good as I went with the flag-stone......but he was attentive to all my concerns and was reasonable during cost negotiations.

Let me begin by saying that we only wanted to spend 10K but couldn't get what we wanted from any company for that price. Craig worked with us taking a little here and giving there until we settled on a plan we liked for $2,000 more. We were not disappointed. Craig and his crew completely changed the look of our front yard. He graded it, removed a number of small palms, added a bunch of new plants, artificial turf, and a cactus garden. He also replaced the entire sprinkler system in the front and back yard as well as the outdoor wiring for new path lights and plant accent lights. Craig checked in with me each morning to see if I liked the looks of how things were coming along and made any tweaking necessary based on our satisfaction as he moved along. He also surprised us and added some flagstone and a new wall for my small garden without an additional charge! Craig was responsive in person and via text (even when I accidentally texted him late at night!). He takes pride in his work and it's clear that he's very good at what he does. Craig paid attention to little details such as grading away from the walkways so the stones no longer spilled onto it. I highly recommend Craig and AZ Nativescapes.

We couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Had Craig stop by for an estimate, and because his schedule was open, he met with us the following day to pick out pavers and nursery stock. The second day his crew showed up on time and completed the large project in two and half days. We were very happy with the workmanship. Always friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend and will use for future needs. You may be able to get a lower estimate from someone else, but more often that not, you get what you pay for...

Craig was the only landscaper that was creative and gave us ideas. Then he did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it.. Extremely happy with the result
