John made some excellent recommendations at the bid phase, then followed through beautifully in executing the contract. His painters were professional, expert, and mindful of our unique requirements (my wife works from home, proving financial advice to college students from 6am - 3pm, daily). They minimized their noise as much as possible. Unlike so many contractors we’ve experienced in the past, John and his crew ensured they cleaned up after their work was done. Ultimately, the house looks amazing!

Just got a terrific outside paint job from John Shaw Home Improvements. John went over their process, spent about 30min assessing my house, telling me exactly what I needed done(some which I was not even aware of)and writing it all down in a contract including a 5yr guarantee. He even made color and gloss finish suggestions to increase the longevity of the paint job. I was very impressed with his level of knowledge, detail and professionalism. Their process is to spend most of the time on prep work which they do very well; masking, taping, covering, pressure washing, scraping, filling, repairing, sealing, priming. They taped and covered all the side walks, driveway, patio, even my pool before pressure washing and afterwards covered the windows, fans and other fixtures. They then scraped, patched cracks in stucco, foundation stub and repaired the patio ceiling. They also repaired erosion and holes in my cinder block fence and my spa and grill enclosures. They primed the needed areas with kilz or dry lock where appropriate. They then sprayed and brushed 2 coats of Dunn Edwards paint on the house, foundation stub, fence and spa and grill enclosures, maintaining perfect lines on the different trim color. Their post paint clean up was excellent with John Shaw doing a walk through with me and noting a couple of spots that he had the crew take care of. All rocks that had been pushed back from the house and fence for painting were replaced. They even blew the yard. Job took 3.5 days. They used a two man crew, headed by a remarkable painter, Francisco. His attention to detail was amazing. I marveled that he found and repaired additional hairline cracks that appeared after his first coat that I did not see. Overall a great job and a fair price! I would highly recommend them.

Good. John helped us plan how the colors would be applied.

John called the same day I requested a quote and arrived the following morning. He thoroughly explained the work his firm would do. They would power wash the house; fill in the missing outer surface of the foundation and seal it with an elastic coating to prevent future erosion; scrape the damaged trim, fill in cracks and seal as the wood was still good and did not need replacing; attempt to repair the gutter at no cost as a first step and return and replace if it did not work; paint the interior. The price seemed reasonable and we liked what he said so much that we accepted and cancelled the other potential quotes. John was very helpful and patient while we decided on paint colors and went to great length to match the color of the slump block for the foundation and garage door paint. His workers were very professional and cleaned up thoroughly. The results are beautiful. The wood that originally looked so bad now looks almost new! So far, the repaired gutter is holding up. We would definitely use John Shaw Home Improvements again and have already recommended them to several friends.

Excellent! I called and John came by the following day and gave me an estimate and explained what would be done and gave good recommendation on paint type. Once I gave the go ahead he emailed a contract, I signed it and they started the next day. The workers were great - they taped things off really well and I am very pleased with the quality of work. We have a couple of rental houses and when those need to be painted I will use John Shaw.

John Shaw and his crew were always on time. Pressure washed first. He patched/caulked the stucco on our house. Put 2 coats of paint on house. Also painted our fence. Our neighbors just “love” our color. I was impressed that he “listened” to what we wanted done to the house. And he recommended the accent door color...good choice! John Shaw is very professional. He’s a young guy, but has lots of experience, since his family is in the home improvement business. Paid for work upon completion... no money up front. I will certainly use John Shaw again! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!👍👍

What I look for in a contractor is price, solid explanation of the work to be performed, is it done when it is to be done and quality of work. All of these items were met in spades. John came by and provided a solid estimate, detailed the work to be performed, identified the type of a quality paint and then performed the work, The prep work prior to painting was exceptional and no surprise took the most amount of time. They repaired the stucco and filled in all the cracks in the stucco. Great job and I would highly recommend him to anyone. In addition, I used him to seal my roof, which included power washing both the house and the roof, repairing the low spots that collected and held water and then double rolled the roof. All of this and he was the lowest bidder and provides a 5 year warranty.

The job that John did, went well. He was very timely with his communications, the work was well done, and he did what he said he would do at the price we had agreed upon. I would hire him again.

Very well In all respects. actually better than expected based on some experiences with other contractors in the past. The owners, brothers John and Charles were professional, very friendly, experienced and helpful at every phase from first meeting to the inspection, explanation of details, tips and suggestions always leaving us comfortable to make our decisions. John offered very helpful thoughts on colors and design as we narrowed to 3 or 4 options. Then was very prompt in getting paint samples from Dunn Edwards and painting swatches on our house to help us with decisions. Then presented us with a printed, detailed bid. All this was done with no money up front. He has that much confidence in his company producing results we would be happy with. His two workers are experienced, pleasant and very thorough in prep, painting and finishing, and care about doing the job right even to the smallest detail. They kept on schedule and showed up promptly at 8:00AM every day, all day until the job was completed at which time John did a walk around inspection marking a few little things that were promptly taken care of. Then another walk around with my wife and me. When he was satisfied that we were happy and satisfied he accepted full payment and we parted friends. We love our new look, and so do our neighbors. I would definitely use John Shaw Home Improvements again as they do other work besides painting. I recommend them without hesitation.
