AZ Grand roofing and painting

We had a great experience with AZ Grand Painting. Hunter did a thorough inspection prior to offering an estimate and found some definite things that needed attention during our exterior paint job that I had missed. The estimate was all inclusive and there were no surprises at the conclusion of the work. In my view, the job was fairly extensive, requiring everything from some woodwork changes to stucco repairs, and the work crew was very skilled and professional. The crew was obviously a well "oiled" team who knew how to work together and get things done efficiently. Not only did Hunter stop by at least twice a day to make sure everything was going well, but the on-site supervisor of the crew knocked on our door when the job was done to be sure we liked how everything came out and to also make sure that we would contact Hunter if we noticed any problems after living with the results for several days. By all means, get a few bids when doing a major paint job, but I think you will find that AZ Grand Painting has competitive pricing and does a top-notch job.

I received estimates from four different companies before deciding on AZ Grand Roofing & Painting for the exterior painting of my house. The owner, John, stood out by providing a detailed explanation of the painting process during our initial walk-through. His expertise led me to anticipate a high quote, yet he offered the most competitive price, which made choosing his company an easy one. John and his team always arrived exactly when they said they would, which was a huge relief for me because juggling work at my job and meeting up with contractors can be very frustrating if they're late. His team performed exceptionally well, were responsive to my detailed feedback, and maintained professionalism throughout. I am very satisfied with the outcome and intend to use their services again in the future.

We recently hired AZ Grand Painting for an extensive project: painting the exterior of our house, including a shed and the wall surrounding our yard, as well as installing gutters in both the front and back yards. From the outset, we had a fantastic experience. Hunter from the sales team worked closely with us, helping us choose the perfect colors and quality levels of paint. He listened to our ideas and helped us narrow down to three combinations of base and trim colors. Hunter even brought samples to our house and painted them on the side so we could see how they looked in different lights. Throughout the entire process, Hunter was excellent at responding to our messages and working with us. The team of workers completed the job in just two days, which included pressure washing the house and walls, filling cracks, fixing damaged stucco areas, and meticulously taping off and protecting our yard from overspray. After the painting was finished, Hunter quickly scheduled the gutter installation. The subcontractor who handled this was efficient and ensured we were involved in key decisions, such as the placement of the gutter outlets. Overall, our experience with AZ Grand Painting was exceptional. They did a thorough job, and we are incredibly impressed with the final result. Hunter and his team were AMAZING! Not only did the final job look so beautiful, but the painting team was quick (2 days!) and friendly. I loved that Hunter checked in on the progress regularly and did the beginning and final walk throughs thoroughly. I plan to have them paint the interior of my house next!

John and his team were excellent. The house turned out beautiful. They spent more time prepping the surfaces and protecting unpainted surfaces than they did actually painting the house and garage. You would be making a huge mistake not contacting John and at least getting a price. With painting a house, prep is everything.

To begin with, John explained everything about the job better than any other company. The crew was so good, covering everything that wasn’t to be painted. The stucco was repaired in some places and you can’t even tell because the repair blended so well. Their work was excellent! The job was done in a timely manner, despite 2 day delay due to the weather. We are very happy with the results of our house being painted . The price for our job was also the best compared to the other 4 quotes received

John Shaw and his crew were referred to me by one of my patients. They have used his company numerous times for their home and various rental properties. I received several bids and John was the most competitive without forsaking quality. They were very professional from beginning to end and John was always in constant communication with me. The crew arrived early and on time every day. They were hard-working, polite and very clean. No mess was left behind at the end of each day. Overall, I was very impressed and happy with the whole process and final outcome. I will definitely use them again for any future projects.

We hired John to paint our 50+ year old house. When it was last painted, the contractor did not seal the wood or the concrete block and after 5 years, paint was chipping and wood was splitting. John's workers took care of all of that - pressure washing, scraping, and painting with two coats of excellent paint. John used paint with a slight (very) sheen so that the house actually sparkles a bit. He worked with us on the colors (a darker grey for the house and a pretty medium blue for the double front door). They even came back a few days later to catch a few places that needed touch-up after it all dried. Great attention to detail! The entire crew and John were a pleasure to work with!

Hunter and his team were great! Fast, efficient and did both jobs extremely well! My house looks beautiful and its just what I wanted. He is also super patient in helping you choose the right color :) I highly recommend them!

John Shaw was very professional from the start of the estimate to the finished job. His crew was prompt, knowledgeable and did everything with exceptional excellence. I highly recommend him and his crew for any job. We had our whole exterior house and garage door painted along with our backyard wall. We are very pleased we hired John Shaw!

How did it go? Not well. Price was great. Initial communication before contract was signed, great. What we took away from the initial conversation was he and his 3 generation experienced family would do the work. NO, to employees with a language barrier as I do not speak Spanish do the work. You can contact john with concerns, but he is hardly ever on the job, and it will most likely be hours or the next day before he can address your ongoing work concerns as he is running errands and estimating other potential jobs all over town. I understand that he does this, but that was NOT the initial impression we received. Issues; It was agreed in writing to pleasure wash all surfaces before painting. Well they did about 90% and most haphazardly. Much debris like bird droppings and other was NOT removed and painted over. I am semi retired, so I was home along with family to watch the whole process. No I did not get in the way or intervene. I contacted John if I had issue with what was transpiring about 4 time’s total. He would come by later in the day or the next morning to address my concerns. Unfortunately they were not resolved to my completely reasonable satisfaction. Not even halfway. The paint used was same brand and color paint used initially 20 years earlier when house was NEW. However, it was an inferior quality I found out 2 years later when he refused to come back to repair pealing, bubbling paint issues. I contacted the paint company (Dun Edwards) and they informed me the paint was applied improperly, so they were absolved of any warranty issues. So, I am stuck with a paint job that is worse than it was before John. I contacted the Sate shortly after 2 years of having issues with the paint application, but they informed me he essentially has a handyman’s license, not a General Contractors license, so the warranty is only 2 years. Issues when they initially done the work included they did not drag along a drop cloth when painting, so about 10” of gravel got painted sporadically the whole way. That was probably the biggest issue I had. A little common scene goes a long way. First time I have ever seen a “painting” crew without any drop clothes. There also was some two dozen spots where they splattered and dribbled paint on concrete driveways and patio/sidewalks. They argued it was there before, I and my family said NO WAY. So they halfway cleaned most of it off by sanding it off. So now you see these little sanding spots everywhere. They failed to mask off the two garage doors from the inside, or at last ask us to remove our vehicles to the street. Yes, you guessed it, they oversprayed both vehicles. I told John, and he hands me $20 to get them “Detailed’ I said to him $20 is not going to pay for overspray removal let alone a car was on two vehicles. I later got something from the auto store that took me an afternoon, but I got all the overspray off. The drywall work was not done correctly in the manner as the replacement pieces were thinner than the original, so they don’t match up depth wise when you look at it in perspective. There is still one joint they have repaired twice to no avail as it keeps flaking off. When the worker sands it down, he does not remove the dust. He just applies the compound over the dust, hence it later flakes off. The roofing; they left much debris behind. 1” Square head nails that like to hide in the grass pointy side up. I rammed two of them in my foot walking on my grass. No, I did not tell john about is as I have health insurance and a up to date tetanus shot. But I had a sore foot for a while TWICE!. I finally got a large magnet and found two more of them. Several other issues where they were supposed to fix water leakage from rain around outside door trim. They replaced it all, but it leaked worse after they replaced it all. They use the wrong kind of nails, non-galvanized, that are now rusting. They don’t countersink nails. They don’t even use finishing nails on trim. The miters don’t match up either way, depth or degree wise. Like ¼ off. Awful workmanship. Priming on the painted surfaces. It is in writing in the contract to prime all raw surfaces. They say, “we did”. NO, THEY DID NOT! I watched them. I can go on much more, but what is the point. It seems most people are happy with what they received, however a couple of us are not and have similar issues. That leads me to really wonder about the rest of the reviews posted.
