"Francis said it would take 3 days to complete, but it took 8 days. It was wood look tile, and I said I wanted it totally random pattern, but the tiles weren't totally random. His sub-contractor (Jesus also said call him Jesse) made a mess between the neighbors and my house cleaning tools and buckets. I said I wanted transitions to other rooms like the one already done, but not like them. Took a while to get Francis to come over to look at mistake, then he wanted me to call Jesse, so I did. Jesse kept saying he will come next Wednesday, but lied over and over. Finally about 2 1/2 months later I got them both to come together. We all made an agreement to sort of fix it, but 2 more weeks of lies from Jesse then no contact. I haven't heard from either one of them for over a month now, so I'm done with them. After years of wanting to get this done, I?m disappointed I spent over $3,000 and it?s not like I wanted. I guess my only choice to get it done correctly is to sue them."

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.

Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

There are several countertop options available to fit your lifestyle and needs.

  • Granite countertops are durable and come in a variety of colors.

  • Soapstone countertops are prone to scratches and best in smaller kitchens.

  • Marble countertops are less durable than granite but a good option for busy kitchens.

  • Slate countertops are stain-resistant, making them easy to clean.

  • Limestone countertops must be sealed often to prevent scratches.

  • Acrylic countertops cost less than granite while still providing durability.

  • Laminate countertops are the most affordable but chip and fade faster.

  • Wood countertops need monthly sealing to maintain.

The cost to install countertops is $3,105 on average. This project cost can range from $400 to $8,500, depending on the material, edging, and countertop size.

Laminate countertops are generally the most cost-efficient, ranging from $8 to $27 per square foot. On the other hand, slate countertops are considered more luxurious and range from $30 to $90 per square foot. There are also countertop materials priced between those two, including stainless steel, granite, Corian, and wood.
