Description of Work: What started as a simple checkup turned into trouble shooting a variety of things. The vendor was able to get my A/C unit to blow cold air again. Will use this vendor again, if the time comes to replace unit. Very happy with service and staying late to finish job and explain to me details when I got home.  + -1 moreChris called ahead to let me know he was running a little bit late, but arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. Chris conducted the inspection and tuneup, and commented on the high quality duct work. He recommended a new Capacitor for one of the AC units, as it was low. I agreed, since the last thing we need is our AC to go out in the middle of summer. The work was completed quickly and I have the peace of mind that the AC is in top condition.
Description of Work: Inspected and did a tune up on two AC units at my home. The tune up was a great deal purchased through Angie's List. They recommended a new Capacitor for one of the units, which I agreed to, and they were done within the hour.

 + -1 moreChris from Polar Bear Heating and AC first came as a result of the $39.00 tune up. I have a Trane unit which was purchased in November 2011 from another vendor. Chris said the unit over all was in very good condition but the run cap was showing a leak. While he was there he helped me reset the indoor thermometer. This week, Chris returned and replaced the run cap in about 15-20 minutes. Chris is polite, called when he was running a few minutes late, and explained things in more detail when I asked questions. At this point in time, which is only a day later, I am pleased with Chris and his service.
Description of Work: replaced the run cap on the AC unit.

 + -1 moreThey're kind of like a regular service for us. They come in and do our air conditioning and our heating. They come to check the systems and all that stuff. They're very good about calling us and telling us whenever we need a 6 month checkup.

 + -1 moreThe tecnician gave a one hour window for arrival time and was there in the first 5 minutes of the sercice. The technician was knowledgable, professional, took his time to explain everything and allowed me to observe the test meter which was easy to understand and interpret. The technician never was rushing to get to the next call and cleaned up after the work was completed. Above all the technician, Chris was honest and that is indeed a real breath of fresh air in an increasingly stale industry fraught with scam artists who overcharge and tell you things that are working perfectly need to be replaced which was the case with the other companies i had provide estimates. This is a family owned and operated business that generates a lot of their work through word-of-mouth referrals. I will never use any other company for all needed repairs on heating and cooling equipment in my home.
Description of Work: inspection of central air conditioning unit to determine why the unit was not working as well as in the past. After a thorough diagnostic analysis it was determined the problem would be corrected by a tune up and the addition of 4 pounds of coolant. The 1st pound was included in the tune up and the other 3 pounds of coolant were billed at $55.00 p/pound. Two other competing companies provided estimates that called for replacement of fan motor, compressor and coolant was between $85.00 to $110.00 p/pound. a new digital thermostat was installe at my request. The existing thermostat was impercise, inaccurate and difficult to read. The new thermostat has a large back-lit display that is easy for my 88 year old mother to read. The coils were cleaned and the equipment in the attic was inspected and cleaned and checked for safty, including the gas furnace.
