On Saturday March 30, I discovered the laundry room floor covered with water and water drripping form the washing machine. I turned off the water to the macachine, looked up large appliance repair on Angie's list and got in touch with Appliance Pros. Mr. Black came our and checked the machine , asked about our usage and determined that the problem was the in-flow valves were not closing fully after the wash cycle was over. He explained the costs to repair vs. a new machine. We checked a Consumer Reports article on "fix or purchase" and concluded that it was in our best interests to repair. We asked Mr Black to order and install the parts as quickly as possible since we were having guests for the weekend. He did it.
Description of Work: Installed new in-flow valves in washing machine.

Overall, it went very well. Appliance Pros were prompt and professional. Importantly, their recommendation fixed the water drainage problem we were having with our dishwasher and the cost was very reasonable.
Description of Work: We were having a problem with the water properly draining from our dishwasher. Appliance Pros came and gave us very good advice on how to fix the problem at a very reasonable cost. The fix included changing the type of dishwashing detergent we were using (to reduce the amount of suds), adjust/reduce dosage and use Dishwashing Magic once a week for 4 weeks. The recommendations worked and the water drainage problem went away.

I phoned this company because of their excellent rating. I wasn't disappointed. I was preparing a rental unit for a new tenant and discovered the oven wasn't working. Richard was able to come the next day, arrived on time, and quickly diagnosed the problem. The automatic igniter had to be replaced, a part that he had on his truck (to my relief). He told me the cost up front, which I appreciated. He installed the igniter quickly and had me test it to be sure I was satisfied. I was not only impresssed by his professionalism and efficiency, but found him to be a very pleasant and forthright person. I will definitely call him again.

Called Rich at 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon and he was at my door before 2 PM. It took him about an hour and the job was done before a 3 PM appointment I had. He really worked to accommodate my schedule which I appreciated since I work and it's hard for me to have repairs done during the week.

Hi there. As I read the review I was concerned about your experience with our company so I went to pull the ticket. From your post you said our company was there on Jan 22 2013 but I could not find your work ticket in Dec 2012 or Jan or Feb of 2013 so I dug a little more. Found it in August of 2012. Our visit to your house was 8/20/2012 for a odor in your kitchen which you said emanated from the refrigerator. Upon arriving and checking the refrigerator completely and asking many questions you told me that you had extensive mold issues in the home. In fact much of your home was torn out and renovated due to the extent of the mold. Upon asking you also told me that the two kitchen walls and kitchen ceiling had not been removed and replaced due to cost constraints. After ruling out the refrigerator as the cause of the smell, I also found a 6" vent pipe open to rain water on your roof that would leak into the wall behind refrigerator and many signs of mold on the kitchen window. My advice to you was that the mold was causing the odor you were smelling and that the only solution, as was the case with the remainder of the home was to have a contractor that specializes in that type of work asses the situation and advise accordingly. I really find it a bit disingenuous that you are posting 7 months after the call and not telling the truth of the situation. It was very clear to me that the odor you were smelling was not from the refrigerator but from incomplete mold removal that did not include the kitchen walls and ceiling, and yet your here bad mouthing me and giving bad marks. And this after I gave you a discount on the service call which I rarely do. Please review my information and regrade correctly. Thanks Richard

As luck would have it we confirmed our refrigerator wasn't working on Saturday morning and we had another commitment we couldn't miss. I called Appliance Pros and requested service late Saturday afternoon and they were very accomodating. The problem was then quickly diagnosed. Since the faulty part could not be ordered until Monday, the repair was done the following week. I would definitely use Appliance Pro again.

Richard came early and was very knowledgeable. He was completely honest with me on the costs involved to fix the unit. I might have to go another route right now, but I didn't mind paying the service fee at all. He explained to me in detail what was wrong, and how much it would cost to fix it. I'll be moving soon and will more than likely call again to have him check a few appliances that are at the house. I'd recommend him to anyone...he definitely knows his stuff and is great at his job.

Overall, my brief experience with Richard was very positive. He only came to evaluate our problem and since we decided to not go ahead with the repair, we didn't take advantage of their repair service. I would recommend Appliance Pros and was very pleased with the same day service.
Description of Work: We called Appliance Pros to come look at our refrigerator/freezer that had stopped cooling. Richard identified the problem quickly and gave us the repair cost. In our case, it was more than we wanted to put into an older refrigerator. He was professional and helpful and explained the cost of parts, all of which helped us decide to make a new purchase, and not go ahead with the repair.

I would be very interested in knowing what was done to repair your subzero for $300.00 as when i was there you had a leaking closed system requiring major components to be replaced. The price i quoted you was to remove and replace the appropriate parts (in line with manufacturer's suggestions) to bring the appliance back to a state that would prove to be a good value to you long term. My pricing for the above closed system work is very competitive with any company capable of actually doing it. I believe your repair most likely consisted of charging up the system, adding more coolant. It is against federal law to charge a known leaking refrigeration system and i told you i could not and would not do this, if this is what was done to alleviate the issue it is nothing more than a band-aid fix and is against the law. It will have to be reworked at a future date and will most likely result in lost food and more down time without your refrigerator. You will eventually have to have the correct repair made. As i work very hard to build and maintain my reputation here and the market place in general, I believe your grading of us the way you did is extremely harsh. What i gave you was the best advice and pricing for the situation in order to provide you with excellent service and long term value. Please review my comments and regrade appropriately. Thanks Richard

I was washing my clothes with my 2007 LG steam/washer last Tuesday, December 4th, 2012. I was in a room close by and I kept hearing strange beeps that I've never heard before. At first I didn't really think much of it, but then all at once it started making a constant beep so I went into the laundry room to check it out. There were about 18 minutes left of the wash cycle and there was this flashing on the screen: FE. I had no idea what this meant so I started to look for my manual. Well, I couldn't find it so I then went online and did a search with that error code and I found a few responses on it. According to the responses it sounded like there was a water valve issue from inside the machine and it gave suggestions on how to stop the washer, etc.....which I followed. I unplugged the washer but I still kept hearing the noise of the water either going in or out of the machine....I can't remember exactly at what point I thought it would be ok to open the (front load) washer but I did and......it was Niagara Falls! The water just POURED out and went everywhere! I was panicking and I tried to push the door shut but it was almost impossible due to the water pressure...that water wanted OUT! I was finally able to get it shut for the most part so I threw a bunch of bath towels on the floor to try and soak up as much water as I could then I quickly went back online to search for a solution to get the water drained out of the washer. I was able to find where I could set it for a rinse/spin cycle and I also turned OFF the wall water valves so that no more water would come into the machine. I then went back into my new indoor lake and began to mop up the excess water. I had to move the washer and dryer out from the wall in order to get all of it. What a total PAIN water is! It goes everywhere and I can't imagine the horrible effects that a flood would have. (I'm going to check into flood insurance asap!) All of this happened the day before we were leaving to go out of town so when I got back home I decided that I wanted to join Angie's List in order to find the best repair person. I had also wanted to get an estimate on adding a concrete driveway so I figured that Angie's List would most definitely come in handy for both of those things so I signed up and did my search and that is how I found Appliance Pros. I called Appliance Pros on Monday the 10th of December and explained my situation. The lady that I spoke with said that Richard could stop by between 3-5 PM the same day to see what the issue was. She asked me how I had heard about them and I told her about Angie's list. She then explained to me that we would get a discount then because of Angie's List. Richard called me about 5 PM and said that he was a few minutes away and apologized for running a little late. That was very thoughtful of him to do that, usually if someone is running only a few minutes late they just show up 5-10 minutes later without saying anything so I thought that was a good introduction to the company. I explained to him everything that happened and he seemed to be very familiar with the problem, stating that he has performed a number of the same type of repairs. He wrote up an estimate and I said that I wanted to have him fix it, so he took a deposit and said he would order the parts for me. On the estimate he also gave me the discount for Angie's List. I had a message on my phone on December 13th from the lady at Appliance Pros (sorry I didn't get her name) stating that the parts were in and to see when I would like to schedule Richard to come out. The message was left in the morning and I didn't retrieve it until around noon so by the time I called her back Richard was booked for the day. She said that he could come out the following afternoon between the hours of 3-5 PM and I said that was perfect. Richard arrived at the house the next day, the 14th, around 4 PM with the parts, ready to do the repair. I asked him if it was odd that the water valves would have gone out on a washer that was fairly new (5 years old) and he said that for some reason a lot of the LG washers had the same issue, that they were "sensitive" to excess particles that may be in the water and therefore didn't last as long as others may. I asked him how long it would take for him to make the repair and he stated it would take about a half an hour. About a half an hour later, he had the machine on a rinse/spin cycle and he completed the receipt and explained to me about their guarantee. Overall, I was very pleased with the whole experience. Richard was very informative, prompt, and friendly. I can't say if I paid a lot more for the repair than I should have, because I didn't get any other estimates. I did feel that the price was a little high but in line with the quality of the company and workmanship.....In other words, you get what you pay for and even though it wasn't cheap, I am very glad I used Appliance Pros and would not hesitate to call them again!

I noticed that my dryer was running for well over an hour and even after that, the clothes were quite damp. After messing around with it some, my teenage son and I determined that the dryer was not heating up. I called Appliance Pros on recommendation of others on Angie's list. They answered right away and were surprisingly interested in coming out as soon as possible, even after I told them it was not an emergency (we were running the clothes through the dryer to make them less wet and then hanging them up to dry on the upstairs railing, so we still had clean laundry). I think they came out the following morning. It took the guy not long at all to confirm my suspicions, that the heating element had burned out. They did not have the parts on hand and told me they would have to order them and it would take about 5 days or so. When the parts came in, they called, set up a return appointment and fixed the dryer. No muss, no fuss, and the dryer works now. All is as it should be.
Description of Work: The dryer wasn't heating up, so they came out and determined that the heating element needed to be replaced. They ordered the part and came about a week later to install it.

I had a coupon when they came the first time. They had to order parts because I have an oddball refrigerator. He explained that he had to order the parts and he said he would be back in three to four days; he did come back and he finished the job. He was in and out and it was very clean. He was good and professional and he explained how much the parts cost. He wasn’t chatty; he just came in and did the work. He knew exactly what to look for and he was a good troubleshooter. He repaired what I needed to have repaired. Just like anyone else, I would have liked to have it cheaper. I would definitely use him again.

Very pleasant experience. The office staff and Richard (the owner) were accomodating and professional. On my first call, I was able to get an appointment for the next day. I already knew I needed a new evaporator fan. He didn't have the part in stock, but ordered it while he was at my house. He said it would likely be in late the next day. It was. I scheduled to have it installed. He did that today. Once again he was on time and very professional. He looked at my broken microwave on his first visit. He looked inside the unit and knew a fuse was blown, but explained that there could be other problems. He replaced the fuse (for free), and checked the unit by heating some water. The fuse blow immediately. He gave me a price on a new unit installed. I told him that I couldn't afford it at the moment. He left the estimate, but did not pressure me into buying a new unit. I highly recommend them.
