Description of Work: Quoted price over phone, then when he saw what had to be moved said he was losing money, etc- I felt guilty and paid him 1500 plus tips instead of 800 which we had agreed to. But mistake 1: do not accept phone quote if they don't come and actually SEE what the job is. Took longer than planned. Broken stuff, boxes not brought to where indicated in writing on the box , ie 2nd floor bedroom. If he had taken the time to look at what was involved with move to start with, instead of just a phone quote, he probably would have declined the job ( rightly so) as he only has one truck. Plus it was pouring which made the whole thing awful. A nice guy, but my husband was p***** he was letting me move stuff off the truck , etc. half my fault for booking it as I did, half his for bargaining for more money, complaining about the size of the move, etc. personable guy. But husband NOT pleased.

Description of Work: From the intital quote (online, and with the help of a good system for me to make an estimate) to the final delivery, this job was handled in a personalized manner. The "exceptions" (changes to schedule, space needed, plus or minus, and adjustments for unexpected delays) were all handled in a caring and personalized manner. The company worked with me to make it affordable. The guidelines for packing were very clear, and the instructions for loading and preparation for pick-up were very well explained, both by the people on the phone, in on-line videos and text, and also in the packet I received from the company. It was a complicated move and they seemed to care. The person who delivered the truck demonstrated the system for handling the ramp, and for installing and removing the bulkhead. He was totally professional in his trucking skills- precise and careful. There were delays in getting the truck packed, and that was handled with utmost courtesy and responsiveness to the reasons for the delay. In all cases the company tried always to save me money and trouble-- to find the most efficient and cheapest way to get the job done. Delivery at the other end was handled in the same way, with the driver helping me with the bulkhead removal, setting the ramp solidly for me, and instructing me on how to proceed from there. I never felt that things were confusing, out of control, or too much for a woman to handle! The only "incident" was that a bee got into the truck with the driver and caused some "drama" for a few minutes until it was ushered out, with no stings to report.) I would recommend this method to anyone. It is wonderful if you can get your stuff ready for the three-day window for packing. I am sure that if you rent a POD so you can pack over time, it is convenient too, but it would have cost more for me in the long run. There are storage options at both ends, and also you can arrange to pick up your shipment at the freight station and save money if you want. So much flexibility, and the safety of a professional driver, and the cost-effectiveness of pay-by-the-linear-foot (7 foot minimum)-- it's all Win-Win, in my opinion. Huzzah for U-Pack! Susan Holland
