Description of Work: We had James out for the fall checkup of our heating system. He is very thorough and honest. We had him out earlier this year for a second opinion when other hvac companies said we needed to replace our entire system for many thousands of dollars. James checked our system and said we needed a new coil plus controller and it cost us a fraction of what others wanted. He is a very honest person and I would recommend him to anyone.

Description of Work: James and Tim did a wonderful job installing our new heating/cooling unit and thermostat. Very professional and knowledgeable. Will definitely be our "go to" guy for service/winterizing in the future!

Description of Work: Recommend we replace our refrigerator after discussing our old one. He saved us an unnecessary expense at his expense; that's a good example of honest customer service.

Description of Work: I spoke with them on the phone and he told me how to fix my refrigerator. Without coming to my house or charging me. He was great. Saved me some money.

Description of Work: Our refrigerator/freezer stopped working on a Friday night after hours. We called anyway. The tech on call was totally booked for Saturday but, he said he would stop by to take a look at our problem before his first appointment. He did and determined we need a new part that he would order Monday. Amazingly he was able to get the part on Monday afternoon and had us up and running in about 30 minutes. He was personable, professional, neat in appearance and work habits. Most of the cost was due to the part...I believe some kind of motherboard. We will definitely call Shooks first if needed. FYI--we have a GE refrigerator/freezer. The earliest they come to look was the following Thursday...6 days after our call.

Description of Work: Easy to deal with, showed up on time, fixed the A/C problem and didn't charge too much.

Description of Work: James was a very knowledgable and polite young man. He was working on another customers location till after 6PM, but still came to work on my A/C unit till after 7:30. Since I have had problems with this new system since it was installed by a different contractor 3 years ago, I mentioned on 3 occasions I was willing to replace it. However James has worked on this name brand in the past and told me if it were him, he would keep it since he thought it was a good system. He didn't try and sell me a new one, although he could have if that was his main interest. He also made sure that the part that needed to be replaced was still under warranty, which it was. I would recommend James to everyone.

Description of Work: He just took a look at it, bc we had bud anderson out there the day before and bud I would not ever go back to them, this guy was up front and honest.

Description of Work: James replaced the thermostat lines to my A/C unit and a fuse in the furnace.

Description of Work: James (the owner) came to our home to troubleshoot our a/c which was leaking water from the attic into the house. He was very professional, proceeded to the attic to troubleshoot our problem and had it fixed within the hour.Turned out we just had too many vents closed making it blow out water, along with a crack in the drip pan which made the water leak into the house. He knew his stuff and was able to explain it to me in simple terms. I really enjoyed his descriptions on what the problem was and his willing to assist at a later time if we had any questions or concerned. Unlike many other companies that tend to pressure you into purchasing new a/c units, James understood our budget and suggested ways to make our a/c better while still being affordable for us and correcting the problem. Though we only spoke for a short while he gained my trust and I will always call him for any of my HVAC needs, though with his exceptional work I do not plan on having many more!

Description of Work: Furnace could not keep up with the targeted temperature on the thermostat. James inspected the entire system from thermostat, to air return, to outside unit and found some issues. He pointed out and/or showed us all concerns, some of which included some shody work by previous (other company) repairmen. Our digital thermostats were also not the right ones for our stystem (oops..that would be my wife and I poor work). He replaced our thermostats with the correct ones, and found some emergency heat strips that were not operating. Bottom line..... he fixed everything for a very reasonable price, and our system has worked perfectly ever since. No more waking up with house at 45 degrees inside. He was also courtious, prompt, and professional. We will certainly use James next time something goes wrong with our Heating/Cooling system.

Description of Work: The compressor on my refrigerator went out and I called Shooks HVACR. The owner troubleshooted the problem, ordered the part and then installed it correctly.
