Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

They were the biggest ripoff. I called them out on the 4th of July, they wanted $1600 plus they weren't sure how much it was going to cost. I called my regular plumber and he did for $450. 1

I called a well respected plumbing company to evaluate and repair a leak under my kitchen sink. It was determined that the leak was from my garbage disposer. I had a new one installed. The very next morning I turned it on to dispose of some food and the sink clogged, water backed up and I had a problem. When the installing plumber returned to check it I was told that the problem was not the disposal but the sink drain. Fat from the raw meat had clogged the pipe. I can't describe how I felt... I gave the go-ahead to the plumber to try clearing it. Almost 2 hours later I was told that he couldn't clear it because the fat had likely clogged the entire line. He gave me 2 options: Replace the entire line (at a substantial cost and not to mention inconvenient) or contact another plumbing company or service to attempt unclogging it with a different technique and equipment that his company didn't provide. I told him I would think about it overnight. Later that day a friend told me of a very good experience he had with Roto Rooter. The next morning I called them to request service. The scheduler was polite and professional and Journeyman Plumber Jeff Chandler was personalable, professional, knowledgeable and obviously experienced. He got to work quickly and had the line cleared in less than an hour and for a price that was 1/2 the cost of the 1/2 the cost of the unsuccessful attempt and 1/4 the cost of a line replacement! I should have called them first but I'll definitely call them in the future.

Technician arrived on time and advised of each step in process. Because we had used a strong toxic drain cleaner, he advised of the potential for pipe deterioration (which proved very true). He gave a detailed quote based upon what he estimated about the existing piping system. While we initially thought the price was steep for what we thought would be a simple unclogging of blockage, we do have 60 year galvanized steel pipes, and the estimate was to replace these with PVC down to the slab on basement floor and clean to the clean out in the yard (also put in by RR years ago). We agreed to this price and the work began. Turned out that these old pipes were almost completely clogged all the way down to the slab! Looked like a clogged artery, and the pipe had been eaten through by the drain cleaner. Our Tech immediately ran into a different piping system to the Dishwasher, which normally would have caused a higher expense, but he got that approved under the existing quote, which saved us hundreds (because he had to pull out the Dishwasher). He worked long hours, explained issues along the way, provided a drain cleaner to use monthly that would not be toxic and replaced the dishwasher line with a more flexible one that was better. He answered all of our questions, giving us pros and cons. AND, unlike most other plumbers in the past, he completely cleaned up all of the mess upstairs and downstairs, including mopping up the floors and taking away the old pieces of pipe, etc. We are very pleased with the whole experience. Next time we call Roto Rooter we will ask for the same technician.

He did a good job, but they were so expensive. It was like 3 times as much, but I had no choice. The pricing was outrageous. There was a freeze on the pipes and all plumbers were busy. The guy here was actually a half hour early. It was a lousy pricing.

Two service providers came to give me a free estimate on resetting my toilet. Even though the price was too high, they were here and I needed them reset........

Of course, it was pricey, but they arrived quickly and got the job done efficiently.

Roto-Rooter technician was dedicated. He worked for maybe 2 hours and would not quit until the stoppage was cleared. Can't say another good things about the technician.

The technicians were slightly late, but the dispatchers did a great job of keeping us informed as to where they were and when to expect them. They very quickly saw the issue and went to get a special tool to solve the issue. They quickly took care of the issue and tried to put everything back together (they could not complete because they did not have a part that was beyond the scope of the service call). I was able to go to a local plumbing supply store and got the part to complete the repair. Overall, a very good experience.

Equipment used was not able to clear clog. Cleared it myself with rented equipment.

The technician arrived on time and finished in a timely manner. The estimate was exactly what I had to pay.

A few days before our daughters birthday part (that was at our house), our plumbing was not working correctly. We ran a 50 foot snake down our toilet but could not unclog the drain. We called Roto-Rooter and they had someone out with in the hour. They ran a camera down a pipe and determined the clog was near the street. They were able to get the drains working correctly in about an hour. I wasted two hours of my time attempting to fix it myself; next time I know who to call to get the job done right.

We live in Jefferson County, we brought in 45 dump trucks and expanded our yard, we planted new grass, we watered that grass....guess you know what is next....we received a $900.00 water bill, with $600.00 being sewer. I called Roto-Rooter to add a irrigation meter so we don't have to pay the sewer portion. I should have done this before I planted the grass. We had several outside water outlets connected, so now I can water the grass and just pay the water portion. The cost to Roto-Rooter will quickly be off set by the savings by not paying the sewer portion.

Before we begin to remodel our kitchen we researched electric stove's (which we had) vs. gas. A gas stove was far better than electric but we did not have a gas line in our kitchen. Since Roto-Rooter had successfully done a job for us the month before, we called them to come back out. I think they have around 40 employees so they were able to send someone out that was a 'gas specialist'. They ran a new gas line from the garage (hot water heater) all the way up to our new gas stove. The gas line itself was only part of the project, they also had to have metal shaped to fit the ventilation system. They cleaned up after themselves and got the job done properly. When dealing with a gas line, we did not want to take the chance of doing it ourselves or calling a smaller company. This is the kind of job that must be done with precision.

Bill and a trainee arrived exactly on time. They went right to work and cleared the drain. They were very tidy and cleaned up after themselves. Best of all, the kitchen sink works for Thanksgiving!!!!! They were quick, gave me the price up front, took the coupon from the roto rooter website and got the job done.

The technician was responsive and prompt. He was very professional and detailed. He had to put in a new water regulator. He even suggested adding a water cutoff valve in our garage since he was going to have to cut pipes anyway and only charged for the part. Normally, he stated having a water cutoff valve put indoors runs $200 or more and since was having to cut off water and cut pipes anyway, he would only charge $25 for parts and pieces and just add cost to work. After work was done, he cleaned up the work area.

They did a fine job and were able to solve them problem. They gave us a degreaser to pour down the drain for preventative purposes. The guy was very professional and clean.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services did an exceptionally good job. They are excellent. They are open and communicate very well. They showed me what the problem is. You get what you pay for.

Our tenants informed us at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon that all the drains in the house were clogged. Roto Rooter was on-site within 30 minutes, cleared the weeds from the pipes, and did some preventive work. The technician was professional, prompt, honest about this being an ongoing problem, and overall left a very good impression. We will use this company again.

I am not pleased with their service. The guys that came out were nice but were very aggressive with their equipment in my house. While snaking our main sewer line in our home, the snake got stuck. The serviceman tried to get it unstuck and was threatening to have the foundation ripped up because he couldn't get his equipment clear. After a good 15-20 minutes of trying to get it unstuck, he did. After another hour or so of them snaking various clean out valves, they found the issue. When discussing our options I received a quote for close to $18k and that it could even exceed that if they had to get into the street for repairs. I felt very pressured when talking about it and thankfully I ended up getting a second quote from a local company the next morning. I received a phone call from the Roto-Rooter rep the next morning. He went back over the quote and again tried to sell me their services very hard. The second quote from the local company was $6,500 for a job that they wanted to charge $18k for. Even the local plumber laughed at what they quoted me and the work that needed to be completed. The local plumbing company also mentioned that they have heard it from the same crew of Roto-Rooter employee's.

He did a really good job. His prices were very reasonable. I would use him again.

They did an excellent job. The guy that came was very professional and clean. I was very pleased with their work. I was so pleased with the work I signed for a one year maintenance contract with them.

TERRIBLE. I don't know where to start. The serviceman had no idea what he was doing and later told me he wasn't even a plumber but a "drain tech" whatever that is. He broke my garbage disposal in the process of trying to unclog the drain. He made a mess of my kitchen and in general had NO idea what he was doing. He didn't get the drain fixed and after 2 hours of embarrassment he left and didn't charge anything. I called Roto Rooter corporate to replace my disposal and they would not return my phone call.

We are very dissatisfied with them. We used them in the last two months. They came to fix a toilet but did not fix it and a friend fixed it for less than $30.

My complaint deals with the toilet on the main floor. The plumber could not fix the problem. He said that probably a wall would need to be busted and work done to pipes. We have no crawl space.Several days later a friend fixed the problem with $30 worth of parts and more knowledge than the Roto Rooter plumber.

They were very prompt in making appointment to fix the drain. They provided an 8am-10am time window and dispatch called one hour before plumber arrived. He was courteous and all business. He fixed the problem and verified that the pipe was clear with a hose. He was efficient in that the whole job took about one hour. Price for what he did seemed appropriate, but not inexpensive.
