I got a price for the rest of the year for my small yard. I paid the complete amount . Tru green kept billing me for additional services. They even billed me for a soil sample test. When I signed up, I was told that they did not do individual soil samples. They would just use a sample from the same area as my home. This company tells you one thing to get you to sign, but after you sign they continue to add additional charges. My yard had weeds in it the entire time TruGreen was managing the weed control. Now that I have another company my yard looks great !

Not well it has been an ongoing fight to get our yard looking good. It still doesn't . Do not recommend this company.
Description of Work: This company has had 7 years to get our yard weed free. There are weeds are over abundant . If true green offers you their services run as fast as you can. Horrible business.

Used Trugreen for a few years and they rush through treatments and don't properly manage weeds. They charge extra for what seems basic weeds. Biggest issue since canceling is unethical business practices whereby they routinely call our home and cell phone to tell us, "We have you scheduled for a service this week at x time." This is an obvious tactic and we tell them again we have cancelled. Check out the large number of BBB complaints too.

My first contact with them was the 1-800 number which gives you someone in Texas. I explained to the person that we had fescue in the back yard and bermuda in the front. We did not want them to put a pre-emergent on the back, as it will need to be reseeded. They did not say a word to us they just came and put the pre-emergent on both. When I called and asked they said No, they did not. Even though the paperwork they left said they did. Then they came out on 6/7/12 and put fertilizer on both, but they burned it, so I called to have them get someone out here to look at it and they told me that there policy was that they would wait 2 weeks, then send out a supervisor. Then on 6/21/12 just 2 weeks later they come out and fertilized again. They said that wasn't a problem, just put the water to it, it would be fine. Our Brackens Brown Beauty Magnolia tree had what I thought was mites, so I made the mistake of calling and asking them to look at it, which they did. They said they didn't see anything wrong, no bugs or anything but they would spray. He told me that the reason the leaves were brown on the back side was because of " too much sun." Hello, it is a Brackens BROWN Beauty, the leaves are supposed to be brown on the back. Anyway, 7/5/12 they came out and sprayed with an insecticide, a fungicide and a miteicide. Then on 7/6/12 the very next day a different guy came out and said he had just put on insect and disease control, he had no idea that had just been done yesterday. The entire summer was like this, I called to drop them and they pass the call off to their high pressure sales people, the first time he was able to talk me into staying a little longer. The second time I finally got rid of them. Don't hire them, they are too hard to get rid of, besides doing everything wrong.
Description of Work: Working with TruGreen was a disaster from the beginning, but I had prepaid so I kept hoping that it would get better.

I fired Trugreen last week because my lawn is looking progressively worse. I have a front yard of bermuda grass and a backyard that has a mix of fescue and bermuda. The backyard has looked progressively worse since we moved in and the front yard still has fescue clumps and weed patches. After this time the weeds should be gone. Even after the company sprays I do not see any weeds dying. I recently did a Trugreen online survey and gave them bad marks and no one even called me to discuss their own survey. The straw that broke the camels back was the last time they serviced my lawn they sent 2 men out, one sprayed fertilizer and one spread lime. In the past whatever treatment they did was billed as one treatment each month...I did not agree to anything special and they billed me $60 two times for that day and when I called and complained the woman on the phone told me that is was just a coincidence that both treatments were seperate and done on the same day because that is the way it worked out. Well....the way it worked out for me is I FIRED THEM. I will never never never recommend them to anyone!! I now have a nev service provided by a local company and I am happy I switched. (Please note my husband and I had been using Trugreen since 2006 and they proved to be a huge disappointment.)

I've had Trugreen at my house since 2008. At first they were great, but as time has gone on the quality of service has gone down. They do seem to keep most weeds out, but not all, and some weeds aren't included in their standard service and you have to pay for extra treatments. Really? I just want a weed-free lawn - it shouldn't be that complex. And it seems as though a lot of those things that used to be included are now "available for an additional cost." There are often more weeds in the backyard, which leads me to believe they aren't treating it even though I'm paying for it. And the yard itself has show a show but steady decline over the last few years. But the worst part is the upselling. I think they call me every few weeks trying to upsell me on some other product they have (that probably used to be included), and if you even show a little bit of interest, bang, they're trying to sign you up for 8 treatments or something. It's gotten to the point where I actually added their number to my cellphone as "Trugreen" so I know when they are calling and can ignore it. We're getting ready to move. We might use Trugreen again, but I will definitely be interviewing other lawn treatment companies before making the decision.

Please see my previous review: Recap: Few months ago, the TruGreen guy came out and only partially sprayed the trees/shrubs. I called and they talked me into not cancelling promising that this would never happen again. So, TruGreen guy comes out today to do the tree/shrub spay. He sprays the shrubs, ignores the trees, leaves the bill and takes off. I just got off the phone and cancelled all of my services with TruGreen. Luckily I work from home and can witness what is being done and not done. What about most of the people that see nothing but the bill and taking it on faith that they are getting the service that they are paying for. Thanks.

Our HOA has been using TruGreen for a while now and it has progressively gotten worse and worse over the years. They don't show up when they say they are going to. They run out of signs frequently so you never know when they have been there. Our HOA consists of approx 26 patio homes on small lots. The biggest 2 lots are approx 1/4 acre. One of the homeowners in our community has banned TruGreen from touching the yard even though she has to pay for the service regardless. Another homeowner threatened to sue TruGreen and they had to come out and re-sod their entire yard (front and back). All 26 homes have weeds all throughout our yards with brown patches everywhere. My yard has never looked so terrible. We are on a contract w/them through the rest of this year, but our HOA is busy getting quotes now from others so we can change providers the moment the contract is complete. I would never recommend this company to anybody that cares about the way their yards looks.
Description of Work: We have a community of 26 patio homes they service, all of which have a tenth to a quarter acre (very small yards). They are supposed to keep weeds out of our yards as well as overseed and aerate the homes that want fescue vs bermuda. All 26 homes' yards look the worst they have every looked in the 7 years I have been here. It has been gradually going down hill and getting worse in the past 3 years.

Tru-Green sent a technician to evaluate my yard while I was home. He informed me that the only weed they could not treat was "Dallas Grass", and that I did not have any. When I asked about the soil evaluation, he said it would be completed within a month, and I would get the report. I showed him the method to access and close my back yard. I asked him to give me notification via my cell phone when he would be treating my yard. My next contact with true green was the receipt of a bill for the first service. I was out of town and my wife sent in a payment, not realizing I had paid for the season's service up-front. I contacted Tru Green to inform them that there was no indication that anyone had treated my lawn, and that a bill had erroneously been sent to us, since I had paid for everything. I was informed that someone would be sent out to check on the lawn and that they would refund the payment at the end of the season. I was not concerned over the $30 bill I had paid. Two weeks later, I called and asked when I should expect the treatment, and was told that it had been performed. I said I had not been called, to give me a chance to put my dog up, and that there was no note or yard placard indicating a treatment had been performed. Finally, they called back and said that a note had been left under my welcome mat. Out of the seven treatments, I received three notifications that a technician was coming. Twice My gate was not latched when I got home; fortunately, my dog had not escaped. In midsummer, a true green technician arrived unannounced, and luckily, I was home. He asked how the treatments were going, so I pointed out clumps of grass that were immune to the treatments. He informed me that it was Dallas grass and that they could not kill it without me signing a waiver. I informed him the person that conducted the initial evaluation told me I had no Dallas grass. Then I asked what they used that would require me to sign a waiver and he told me grass killer. I told Him I would take care of it myself. Three months after the last treatment I received a letter from Tru-Green. I assumed it would be the refund of my payment and maybe a solicitation to use their services the next year. Instead, it was another bill. I called Tru-Green and inquired about the bill, and was told that they automatically start the next year?s service, unless they get notified that the customer wants to stop the service. I said I did not sign up for more that seven treatments, I would not need their serve anytime in the future and I expected the refund for the bill the erroneously sent me. After two months of speaking with "managers", who were unwilling to refund my money, or see the error of assuming that every customer was signing into an indefinite contract by using them for one season, I gave up and informed them that I would be sharing my experience with other on Angie?s list. They were not concerned about a potentially negative review, and still believe they were in the right. This company employs personnel that are not knowledgeable on the vegetation they are supposed to be eradicating. They also have some issues in their accounting department if they are sending out bills for work that has been paid for up front. Lastly, they could afford to hire someone with contract experience to clearly draw up agreements between their company and their customers. ,
Description of Work: I hired True green of Huntsville to treat my yard for weeds. The agreement was for them to evaluate my yard for the weeds I had and the soil coposition. Then they were to provide the report and treat the yard seven times. I got a discount for starting the treatments in April, and more of a discount for paying for the entire year up-front. I drove to there office at 3412 Trade Dr NW, Huntsville, AL 35810, in person to pay the entire bill in cash.

If you do not work from home, you really can't be sure that TruGreen is doing what you are paying for. I work from home and just saw the TruGreen truck pull up to spray my brushes and trees. As I was inside, he could not see me but I could see him.I observed him briefly (and carelessly) spray only one side of each tree. On past occasions, I've seen the TruGreen person do that but this time I had had it. I went outside as he was reeling the hose back into his truck. I asked him why he had only sprayed one side of the tree. He was a little suprised that I had seen what he did.I walked over to the trees with him and showed him that an entire side of the tree was bone dry. His response was that the spray would spread. There was another incident in which I observed TruGreen not do a complete job where they came to spray the lawn. The lady only sprayed part of the lawn and left. I immediately called TruGreen and they had the lady come back. What if I was not there to see what happened. I've had it with TruGreen. What else are they not doing for me and for their other customers. Thanks

Dewight came out and did our estimate while we were at work and left it on the front door. Later that day he called to let us know it had been completed and that he would be happy to walk us through the estimate at our convenience. There were 2 options for service: 7 or 9 yearly treatments. The option of 9 included Core Aeration and pH control. The next day Dewight called to answer our numerous questions with much patience. We recieved estimates from 3 companies with Scott's, by far, being the most professional and price efficient. I called yesterday to review some questions that came up with other companies estimates and Dewight again answered all of my question with professionalism. They offer 3% monthly Auto Pay discount or 10% Prepaid discount. We chose to use their company for our lawn treatment and time will tell how their quality of product is, but we were are impressed by their knowledge and that they seem to have a not "in your face" sales technique like other companies we received estimates from within the last 6 months.

I sent a request in online at night and received a phone call the next morning. The sales agent was in Florida and looked up our address on some map program to give us an estimate. No one ever came to our home to see what lawn issues we had but the sales agent promised that no matter what issues we had the 8 yearly treatments would solve these issues. The sales agent was helpful but I had a bad feeling due to lack of a local person laying eyes on our lawn. Angie's List confirmed some of my fears. The same day the sales agent called I received 8 more calls from the Florida call center of TruGreen trying to give me an estimate. I told each one of the 8 that I had already received an estimate earlier in the day but I still received a call the next day from the call center. I had enough of their pushiness and lack of respect for my previous day's time. I asked to speak to a manager and told him that I had a total of 9 calls from sales agents yesterday and would like to not receive anymore contact from them. He was a sales person to the end, offering to match any competition's written estimate for same services. To say the least, I have not made contact again.

We have the yearly service for lawn maintenance and fertilizing as well as the yearly tree/shrub maintenance. This is the fourth year for the lawn service and the second for the tree/shrub service. We have a fenced-in back yard and ask that they call at least 24 hours in advance of the treatment so we can unlock the gate the day of treatment. They always call in advance, always come on the day scheduled, and leave messages about the treatment delivered. In addition, since we are one of the few in the neighborhood that have the Tru-Green service, if anyone in our vicinity signs up for service we get a $30 finder's fee. They will also come out if we have problems crop up and will answer questions when we call in. A friend of a neighbor across the street told us that they always appreciate our yard since it always look so good. I highly recommend Tru-Green service.
Description of Work: The lawn maintenance consists of approximately 8 visits with seasonal treatments of fertilizer and other chemicals to keep the weeds out of the lawn. We water the lawn after they come so the chemicals soak into the ground. The Tree/Shrub treatment is about 6 times a year and they spray the smaller trees (our Bradford Pear is about 20 feet tall - this is the biggest tree we have that is treated). They apply liquid treatments to facilitate growth, remove bugs and parasites. The treatments do not cause the birds to stay away from our yard - the treatments are very benign to the wildlife.

Had Trugreen for 18 months. I am not happy with current services. My lawn is now as good/bad as it was when I started. I have had to call numerous times, but either slow (3 days) or no response. I am giving Quinton a chance to get this right, but I am not confident that they will perform the services as promised. I believe that the leadership changed about 6 months ago and it has not been for the better. I am contemplating move to Turf Doctor. My neighbor has them and they do a good job for them.

I have bermuda grass and was having to spend a good amount of time keeping neighbors weeds from overtaking my lawn and wanted someone else to handle it. My main concern with having a company do it was that we have a dog that we leave outside during the day. For 2010 TruGreen sent a service postcard with all the dates, this was great since we could simply keep the dog inside on those days. The yard however took a turn for the worse, while I will be the first to admit this may because some areas that are now just dirt patches were just weeds to begin with, the grass itself wasn't as green or healthy as when I did the service myself. I never saw them do any analysis on my yard, they seemed to simply spray the default stuff and move on. So I was unhappy with the results but not totally dissatisfied with the professionalism of the company. I decided to not renew for the following year, or so I thought. Apparently in the fine print you have to call and cancel, not call and renew. I must have missed it since I pre-payed for the entire first year. So one day this spring I came home to a tru-green sign in my yard. I had received service (actually 2, lime and fertilization at 75 a pop) that I did not want. I chalked it up to my fault as I had misread the fine print, but it did bother me that I was given no prior notification to make sure my dog was inside. So I called, payed and cancelled future treatments. I then received a service phone call asking for reasons and I explained my concerns. I agreed to meet with the manager and have him do a detailed analysis of my yard and then if I was satisfied I would receive 2 treatments at a 50% discount. Well I waited for a call from the manager that never came, then I get a call from a service tech saying he was at my house to do a treatment and that the dog was out. I thanked him for his call and said I didn't authorize any treatment and explained the situation. He was actually very apologetic and pleasant to talk with. I told him to have the manager call me as having no notification was my biggest complaint (besides my yard looking barren). I expected a quick call from the manager, but I never did receive a call from the manager and will never do business with Truegreen again. Many friends have had success with other companies that I plan on looking into. I advise you to look elsewhere. Brandon
Description of Work: I initially signed up for TruGreen for spring - fall of 2010. Lawn fertilization and weed treatment.
