I have bermuda grass and was having to spend a good amount of time keeping neighbors weeds from overtaking my lawn and wanted someone else to handle it. My main concern with having a company do it was that we have a dog that we leave outside during the day. For 2010 TruGreen sent a service postcard with all the dates, this was great since we could simply keep the dog inside on those days. The yard however took a turn for the worse, while I will be the first to admit this may because some areas that are now just dirt patches were just weeds to begin with, the grass itself wasn't as green or healthy as when I did the service myself. I never saw them do any analysis on my yard, they seemed to simply spray the default stuff and move on. So I was unhappy with the results but not totally dissatisfied with the professionalism of the company. I decided to not renew for the following year, or so I thought. Apparently in the fine print you have to call and cancel, not call and renew. I must have missed it since I pre-payed for the entire first year. So one day this spring I came home to a tru-green sign in my yard. I had received service (actually 2, lime and fertilization at 75 a pop) that I did not want. I chalked it up to my fault as I had misread the fine print, but it did bother me that I was given no prior notification to make sure my dog was inside. So I called, payed and cancelled future treatments. I then received a service phone call asking for reasons and I explained my concerns. I agreed to meet with the manager and have him do a detailed analysis of my yard and then if I was satisfied I would receive 2 treatments at a 50% discount. Well I waited for a call from the manager that never came, then I get a call from a service tech saying he was at my house to do a treatment and that the dog was out. I thanked him for his call and said I didn't authorize any treatment and explained the situation. He was actually very apologetic and pleasant to talk with. I told him to have the manager call me as having no notification was my biggest complaint (besides my yard looking barren). I expected a quick call from the manager, but I never did receive a call from the manager and will never do business with Truegreen again. Many friends have had success with other companies that I plan on looking into. I advise you to look elsewhere. Brandon

They made exclusive promises about their services. They said the lawn would look beautiful if we did what they told us. Now, a third of the lawn is dead, brown, and nasty, despite spending all of the money they suggested. We had it aerated and everything. When we started to have problems, we called them. We got very poor response. We asked a salesperson to come out and see us, and he never did. I wrote a letter of complaint on their site. I have gotten zero response. We are going to go with another local company. They do the work on their schedule update: I have given them another chance. They have been living up to their new agreements and I am beginning to see some improvement in my lawn. As long as they really do a good job I will keep their service and perhaps give them a higher mark on my next update.. update: September 2012--I fired them. They double billed us on one day for 2 treatments. This had never been done before, whatever they did when they came that month it was one charge. The lawn was also looking worse and filled with weeds. I had another company come out and found out my lawn was infested with grubs. TruGreen had no idea, they never mentioned it. My rating went from an original A to a C then I threatened to fire them. I called them and the lawn manager asked for another chance. I am sorry now that I gave them another chance. I will NEVER use them again. You can read my other recent review of them. I just wanted to put an update on this one so no one would think I still was using them.

They are very responsive. The people who come out are informative and friendly and they seem to be doing a good job. They have come out before. I would continue to use them; in fact, I have signed a year contract.

I have a Zoysia front lawn, and for the past two years a purple-flower weed has invaded. I requested an inspection and quote on TruGreen's website. The inspector came out the next day, and the office contacted me with a quote a few days later. Once I agreed to and paid for the service, the technician arrived early the next morning for the first application. The purple weed was greenish-yellow and dying within two days! The contract that I agreed to is for the front yard only, and covers 7 applications over the course of the year.

We found a coupon in mailer and have used them ever since. They are prompt and responsive to our questions.
