Description of Work: Inspect and clean gas fireplace. I thought they had done a good job while at the house but after they left I found that they did not clean out all of the soot in the fireplace, particularly on and under the ceramic logs which was the primary source for the smell when the fire was burning. I cleaned out the soot myself and all is well. I probably should have just done that to begin with.

Description of Work: John put a special water repellant on the chimney to stop it from leaking. He quickly returned our calls, always arrived about 10 minutes early, and finished the work in the timeframe specified. We have not had any leaks since.

+ -1 moreVery knowledgeable and professional. This was the first time I have hired a chimney sweep, and he took the time to answer a lot of questions I had throughout the process. Set up drop cloths in front of the fireplace and taped plastic sheeting over the opening to ensure that no soot/creosote got in the house. Went up on the roof to clean the flue and then came back inside to clean inside the firebox.

+ -1 moreJohn showed up 5 minutes early, unheard of in home service and promptly got to the task of setting up the drop clothes to protect our new carpeting. He cleaned and inspected the chimney and stated all looked in good working order. He was thorough and quick. When John left it was difficult to tell he had been at the house to clean the chimney. He did leave his card in the fireplace for us to remember, liked that touch. Nice truck too.
Description of Work: Chimney Sweep Company cleaned and inspected the chimney of our house for the new owners. He took extra care to cover the carpeting which is less than one month old. Wonderful job.

He finished quickly and gave me a business card before leaving. He told me if I had any questions or any problems to just call him.

+ 0 moreI called the Chimney Sweep Company for two problems - I had been experiencing a leak around the flue cap of my fireplace, which has put a considerable amount of water into the basement, and to get the chimney swept. I have had the house about 13 years now, and while I have not used the fireplace much, I felt it was due. We made an appointment for the first Monday after the holidays. John arrived early, and was waiting on me when I got to the house. He was polite, and quickly set up to clean the chimney. Total cleaning took about an hour. When he was done there was no mess or soot in the fireplace or in the living room. He told me the problem with the chimney cap, and gave me an estimate on the repair. In the meantime, he had made a temporary fix to it that has managed to hold through some of the heaviest rainfall in recent memory. I plan on getting him back to make the repair when the temperature warms up.
Description of Work: Swept chimney, and provided estimate for repair of leaking flue cap.

Came off the roof and cleaned the flue pipe and stove. Reinstalled flue pipe - correctly. The previous sweep had not installed the flue pipes correctly.

He recommended not cleaning the unit. He cleaned second unit and installed an animal guard per my request. He was very careful to protect the carpet and keep dust and soot out of the living space. He is chatty, but is informative and professional.
