Showed on time, clean as can be, no ash in the house. Also inspected the chimeny cap he put in a few years ago.. Great job.

John the owner arrived 15 mins early! He cleaned and inspected inside and out. The cleaning was very through, no mess in the house at all. John found a problem with my damper that other cleaning and inspections missed. I have my new Chimney Sweep!

I came back from vacation to hear birds nesting in the chimney. I needed them out fast because the house is being sold and it doesn't make a good impression to have birds chirping. Chimney Sweep came out right away, got the birds out, capped the chimney and inspected it and gave me a receipt to that effect that I can show to prospective buyer. And the price was very fair.

He showed up when he said he would and did what he said he would do for the price he quoted. He appeared to be very knowledgeable and efficient and used the best materials. Overall it was a pleasure to do business with him and I will use him again without trying to find a better price. I have confidence in his work, his honesty and his overall professionalism.

Until the provider found out that I live in a historical district (or as he put it, a hysterical district), all seemed appropriate. I was shocked at his unprofessional behavior, I found his comment insulting. If he preferred to not work on older chimneys, he could have said that. Sadly, the chimney in question is a newer, added chimney, just 12 years old. Maybe next time he should say "I prefer to not work with clients in the downtown area", instead of what he did say.

He was thorough, efficient, and neat-very careful to protect surrounding rugs and furniture.

My wife and I thought we might have a problem with the chimney. We called Chimney Sweep Co and John was very responsive and professional. He looked at our chimney inside and then on the roof. Luckily there were no problems but I will definitely give him a call if I think there is one in the future.

They did a good job. They were professional and timely and they came in with a reasonable price.

Excellent. Showed up when he said he would and did an excellent job. Very good about cleaning up after he was done. Also was a nice courteous guy. Highly recommend.

He was very polite, helpful, and answered all of our questions. He even offered to help carry some groceries into the house!

Called and got an appointment and he was able to do it within the same week. Showed up on time and got right to work and was finished within an hour. The house was just as clean as when he arrived. Will definitely use him for this again!

Appointment was made easily. Serviceperson was on time and set about his work immediately. He did a great job and I will use him again!

Chimney sweep was prompt in setting up the appointment and meeting me there. He inspected the chimney and identified some significant problems due to past chimney fires. He said that he could replace the ductwork but recommended that we consider just installing a ventless gas log fireplace instead. He did not pressure us at all given that he does not sell the ventless gas log fireplaces. His honesty was greatly appreciated.

Everything was perfect. He made it painless and fun to have someone come in and bring in equipment. Did a great job. Highly recommend.

The very industrious and professional from Chimney Sweep Co. came right on time, did a very neat job, compete clean up. He was cheerful and efficient. Had all the right equipment, including a very powerful vacuum cleaner, and covers for the openings to prevent blow back. Went on the roof to fix the barriers, finished the whole project in less than 3 hours. Charge was exactly as estimated. Good value.

I wish every contractor/service provider was like John. He arrived early and went straight to work. He covered the fireplace opening so that no dust would get in the family room and he cleaned up after he was done. He allowed me to tag along up on the roof to inspect the chimney. My chimney had been relined and John was able to identify who did it by the workmanship. He answered all the questions this engineer asked of him concerning the fireplace, fireplace inserts, and wood stoves. When he left he said that if I had any more questions to give him a call. The next week I called and left a message. He returned my call that evening.

My phone call to get pricing and schedule an appointment for chimney cleaning was answered promptly (unlike some "providers" in the past). An appointment date 2 weeks out was set and pricing was quoted. Prior to the appointment, it was confirmed by the company and the owner/chimmney specialist arrived promptly at the scheduled time. The job differed slightly from what I had told the company, I had neglected to mention our Buck Stove fire place insert. The Buck Stove was pulled from the fire place, examined, the fire place was cleaned and examined underneath and behind the Stove. The specialist checked and cleaned the flue then went on the roof and checked the chimney, advised me re: the need for re-caulking in the near future. There was a nominal price increase ($25.00) for the Buck Stove removal, cleaning, and examination.The job was finished promptly, clean up performed without any dirt or damage, and with courtesy. I will definitely rely on this company in the future.

I called John Kappelman to get a second opinion on how much maintenance my fireplace would require. He arrived promptly, was friendly & easy to talk to, and he gave me a much more plausible evaluation of what I was facing ($400 instead of $1900). I scheduled the repair for next week and am looking forward to having him do the work. It's disappointing that John doesn't take credit cards, but I can live with that.

John showed up right on time and had a pleasant attitude. He got right to work. It only took 20 to 30 minutes. He told me that my fireplace most likely had never been cleaned by the previous owners. By his observation of the type of soot found, mostly fire starter logs had been burned compared to the way it would have looked had other materials been burned in the fireplace. He made no mess, and left it better than he found it. I was pleased with the service and the price.

Overall it was a good experience. After checking Angie's list, I called, the vendor showed up on time, completed the work in approximately 90 minutes including clean-up.

John Kappelman arrived promptly and immediately got to work. He covered the area around the fireplace before beginning, was thorough in his inspection of the chimney from inside the house and also from the roof of the house. The work was completed in a reasonable amount of time. The carpet in front of the fireplace is off white and was perfectly clean when the work was completed. I will definitely use this company again to have my chimney cleaned.

ARRIVED ON TIME GOT RIGHT TO WORK. WAS FRIENDLY/COURTEOUS DID A GREAT JOB AND LEFT NO MESS.

I bought an older home with a fireplace that had been converted to gas logs. When I closed it for the warm weather, there was a horrible smell that would emerge from it when humidity level was high. I found the Chimney Sweep Company on Angie's list and called John to explain the issue I was having with my fireplace. John immediately knew the most likely culprit was creosote build up and said he would inspect my chimney for needed repairs as well. John came to my home at my convenience, was sure to cover my wood floors and furniture to be sure nothing got on them, and inspected the fireplace/chimney. No repairs were needed but the chimney had a large amount of creosote build up. He was able to remove all build up and explained in detail the process. He also provided a little secret of his to make the fireplace smell wonderful, which was a container of carpet cleaner placed inside the fireplace - he provided this at no charge! The final cost was less than John's original estimate, but I would have gladly paid the estimated amount and still felt like I had gotten a bargain. I have since recommended John to a co-worker who had gotten an estimate from another company which was almost 4 times higher than John. John was able to get her on his schedule a lot sooner than the competitor and she was very pleased with the service, especially the fee.

He showed up actually early and went straight to his task. He even corrected my damper door - said it was originally installed upside down or backwards.
