Mr. Electric of Huntsville

They do good work, but be aware that the price given may or may not be a good value depending on how much time it actually takes them to finish. It's nice to know exactly how much the job is going to cost before they start, but the price quoted (which is the price you pay) is based on the number of hours they "guess" it's going to take.

We got a coupon through the mail on them so we called them. They were very thorough and fixed the problem. That was good. They did a good job. They were little on the higher side but they did good work. I would absolutely use them again.

We started noticing that the vent fan in our attic was making horrendous sounds like the blades were scraping against the metal housing. Since the fan was located in an awkward position above the a/c unit, we called for help. The repairman showed up on time and was extremely nice. He confirmed that the fan was indeed making the noise but thought it might be repairable. After looking at it for a bit longer, he decided we were right and that the unit would have to be replaced. He was done with the repair quite quickly and the fan has worked well ever since (six months and counting).

Mr. Electric quoted by the job, out of a reference book. The price was a set price and the estimate was ~$1,300. I was shocked at the price, but not knowing what was involved, I agreed to the work. The electrician arrived on the day agreed to (3/14/12), but was about 45 minutes late. I had received a call the day before explaining he would arrive between 8 and 8:30. This is why I rated them a B on punctuality. There may have been confusion between the electrician and the home office/dispatch, but I would have no way of knowing that. All I was given was a 30-minute window, which I had planned for. It took him only about 15-20 minutes to install the new 200 A main in the breaker box. That's the only time I was actually without power, which was nice. The electrician was very professional, which I appreciated. Mr. Electric provided all parts, as part of the total job quote. For this job, they provided (1) 200 A main breaker, (2) 30 A breaker for the generator, (3) Interlock kit hardware, same brand popularly available online, (4) 25' Ridgid generator twist-lok generator cord and (5) Twist-lok receptacle for the generator cord, which he mounted on the wall near the breaker box. The whole job took about 2.5 hours. When he finished, he encouraged me to try it, so I fired up the generator and he walked me through how to use it. Very good customer service experience. When I figure up the price of the parts, I'm thinking about $350-$400 max. in the parts provided based on comparative prices at major retailers, which means labor charge was nearly $400 hour; but again the quote for by job, not by hour. I rated the price a C, given that it seems the equivalent hourly rate is excessive. I was thinking a more reasonable price would be $600 for the total job, which allows $100/hr for labor. However, I didn't compare this with other quotes, since I just picked the top-rated Angie's list electrician. I did get to use my $25 Angie's List coupon. Because this was a "big job," they enrolled me in their preferred customer plan. I'm not sure how long that's for--perhaps a year.

I called in the afternoon and about an hour later Brandon came out to give me an estimate and complete the job. He was very efficient and professional. He went right to work and soon the job was finished. I am very satisified with the work that he did and would definitely call them again. I feel that their prices are very reasonable also.

Service date was the end date of installation. Installation began maybe a month before end date. Generator was installed and wired up successfully. Generator would not start up after many attempts. After many phone calls Mr. Electric was able to get someone out who had worked on the type generator we got and he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it. It was a wire that evidently came off during shipping. Generator was then started and worked well. After a successful self-test the following week the generator would not come on for the next weeks self-test. The codes indicated that the battery was dead. After much frustration it was finally determined that a fuse was burned out. Replacing the fuse has resulted in everything working fine. Mr. Electric did not ask us to pay for the cost of the generator and wiring until all our problems were solved.

The person who came out for the estimate seemed to be not as experienced, but other then that he was polite and informative.

Wonderful. He was a super guy, neat and made other suggestions we still intend to follow up on. Good ideas for audio cabling.

Overall I was pleased with the job. They spent a lot of time finding out the problem and seemed very knowledgable about what they were doing. I contacted another electrician for advise, he seemed to think that what they were doing was correct and the price was fair.

Very professional but price was extreme. I had to have the work done becuase I was on a tight timeline. Other estimates would have been 40 to 50% lower for the same services. I was impressed that the owner called me promptly after I submitted my survey and expressed some disappointment. He even offered to credit my account. I will call them again to see if they will acutally follow through on this promise. I did go online and fill out the contact us page on the website fully outlining other reasonable estimates as I had promised the owner that I would do when I had time. I never got a response from that submission. This company is very professionally run but pays for all of the flash by overcharging customers that don't know the true cost of similar services and quite frankly never check. I was charged approximately $1100 for services that should have cost no more than $500 - 600. I agreed to the price only because I had to have the work done and did not have time to get another provider.

He was on time. Knew what he was doing, very professional and friendly. Checked all the pluges from circuit breaker to kitchen area, and then checked a elec plug/outlet in the guest bathroom.

The initial contact was pleasant; the follow-up was informative and professional. The work was completed promptly and professionally.

This is stated above. All work was completed in one day and in a timely manner. Very courteous repairman.

Ashley arrived on time and worked diligently all day each day. He always covered his shoes when entering the home. He is both professional and knowledgeable. He helped me with several decisions and when he encountered unusual conditions, he proved his experience by immediately creating a work around that an inexperienced Electrician may not have known. Without his guidance, I would not have found the matching lights for the home that have made all the difference in the appearance and have added value to our home. We are very grateful for his professionalism and guidance through a new home renovation experience for us. It was obvious when the Inspector came to the home, he was impressed with Ashley's work Anyone would be very fortunate to have Ashley helping them with their electrical projects.

They did a good job. They did some work for the company that I work for two years ago. My overall experience with them was excellent. They cleaned up after themselves. My wife was there when they came and she handled the bills, so I am not sure what was paid. Their responsiveness was good.

Mr Electric is the greatest as professional, efficient and caring people working there. They always call later to see how things went and ask if there is any way they can improve there service. Thanks Mr. Electric!

The experience was positive. They were on time, professional and did not try to sell things that I did not need. The technician could have told me I needed a new circuit breaker board but instead found a way to solve the problem while staying within my budget. I will use them again in the future.

I purchased fans and they had contracted the installation to Mr. Electric of Huntsville. He installed one ceiling fan and he was charging me too much. He then was putting up another fan, even without checking the wire if it was a live wire or not; which I know myself to detect. He gave me a bill of $400 and I questioned as to how he could charge me that much, when one fan was not working; but he didn’t cash the cheque. The company always calls later for a feedback, then they didn’t return the cheque, but didn’t cash it either. Not everyone at Mr. Electric of Huntsville is the same, but this person was bad. I feel they should give a bid on the type of the work to be done. I will never use them in future.

They showed up on time, got straight to work, were very professional and were very pleasant and courteous. I would definitely call them again.

I called them and they came out. They did what they were supposed to do. They did not charge me an arm and a leg. I was very happy. Their price was fair. My overall experience with them was excellent. The quality of their work was excellent. They were good in terms of their responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism.

I could not afford the project but they were very helpful giving me ideas about how to do the project. I will use them again in the future.

The people were very nice. They did a good job, but they were a little expensive. I think I would try somebody else next time because of this.

The technician did an ok job replacing the GFI outlets. I had a coupon for a whole house eletrical inspection which he tried to charge me for, this charge was partially removed but not totally. My biggest problem with this service was when my wife and I asked for an explanation of Mr. Electrics whole house surge protection, the technician provided a piece of paper which defined the protection. I asked some more specific questions regards this protection and he was unable to answer. The price was very expensive and I wanted more definitive explanation of protection and coverage. I was not impressed with this technician. I have used Mr. Electric previously and had outstanding technicians.

Let me first say that the ladies in the office are amazing; particularly India. We arranged for the work while out of state and they were very understanding of the time constraints, provided information on Huntsville (not related to the work,) and researched another service request we had. Brandon arrived on time and was very personable and professional. He completed the work well within reasonable time expectations and did a thorough search of our home and attic spaces in order to give us the most accurate estimate for creating "outlets" for ceiling fans in all but two of our rooms. He gave us a "military discount" after learning that my husband had retired late last year after serving for 22 years, and while the quote for ceiling fans was most likely reasonable, he was gracious when we told him we couldn't afford it at this time. He did offer and explain a "Member's Package" that Mr. Electric offers; giving discounts with various service providers and giving priority to the member's service requests over non-member's requests. We purchased the plan for an additional $89, however, when we needed a plumber about a month later we were very disappointed to learn that the plumbing provider was, in fact, not a part of the package as Brandon had told us. All in all, we were pleased with the service and with Brandon's representation of Mr. Electric. Checking account allowing, we will use them again.

The only thing I did not like about them was that they tried to push me to some other stuff. They would give discount on these if I would do the extra stuff. I would use their services again in the future.
