He is very personable with and pleasant to be around , we had no qualms about leaving him alone in the house while we ran errands....no matter what the project he is ready to tackle it and if it is above his skillset he does not try to bluff his way through it but will help find someone more qualified

 + -1 moreHe did this and it looks like the problem is fixed. Also fixed a round table that was wobbling pretty badly. For these we are very happy. W had several other items on a list that he agreed to do and gave us a quote on doing them. I mentioned previously that had I emailed him that it was ok and had never heard back. This was really disappointing. Hard to find a good handyman. However, to update this situation, it happens that the email address I used was not the one he normally used and they had my address typed wrong or something. We both should have followed up more. An update - we have gotten back together and are getting him to do more things. He's pretty busy, which tells you something, but the delays aren't that bad, usually less than a week.
Description of Work: Placed some boarding around part of our back porch where animals were able to get in. Also fixed a loose bottom to a table, power washed courtyard,, and replaced two gates for our fence.

 + 0 moreEverything went great. Terry arrived on time to install the fans. While it appeared to be a simple job, he was faced with a couple of challenges neither of us anticipated. First, once he removed the recessed patio lights, he found there wasn't anything to mount/attach the fans to. The light fixtures had been supported with a light weight bracket and without an electrical box. Terry knew of a heavy weight telescoping bracket designed for this situation and was able to use two of these brackets, along with standard electrical boxes, to install the fans. Second, the base of the fans was smaller than the access hole for the lights. He was able to modify the shroud used around the lights to use with the fan installation. When he was through, the installation looked perfect. Terry worked quickly, new how to adapt and work around problems, and was meticulous with cleaning up after the job was complete. When the occasion arises, I plan to use his services again.
Description of Work: Installed two outdoor ceiling fans for a covered patio.

 + 4 moreFull disclosure: Terry Youngblood and his family have been our neighbors since we moved to the same street in 2006. As we got to know the Youngbloods, we found out from multiple neighbors that he had done various projects at several homes on our street. Terry worked on our kitchen whenever he could - nights, weekends, etc., which was fine by us. He even worked on it for a few days when we were out of town on vacation. We were happy with the results. To this day, Terry's drywall work looks great (definitely better than anywhere else in our house). We couldn't be happier with his work. Terry is an honest person, a very hard worker, and very experienced with just about any type of home repair/remodeling subject. My wife and I highly recommend his services.
Description of Work: In 2008-2009, I did a major kitchen remodel that included removing much of the sheet rock from three walls of the kitchen and also removing all of the sheet rock from existing fur-downs over kitchen cabinets. Since I was not experienced with installing sheet rock, I obtained quotes from local drywall contractors that were all in the $800+ range. Eventually, I asked Terry if he would be interested and he was more than happy to help and his price was extremely reasonable. His work included hanging the sheet rock, installing corner beads, and finishing the joints with tape and three layers of drywall compound. The project was complex due to there being multiple inside and outside corners on the fur-downs above the cabinets and wall corners at odd angles. My wife and I have hired Terry to do some other projects at our house since that time including replacing an interior door and removing, repairing and re-installing one of our new kitchen cabinet units that had a malfunctioning tambour roll-up door. Removing the tambour door cabinet unit was very difficult since the cabinet installers had stripped the heads of all the screws and I couldn't figure out how to remove it without damaging the cabinet. Terry was able to fix it without a problem.

A few hours later all plumbing and electrical components were in working order. We will be contacting and using them for sure in the near future!!!

 + -1 moreHe is fantastic and we would never have any need for anybody else! He was here two weeks ago and it cost one hundred and seventy dollars. He doesn't like to do roofs because we did have a problem with the roof but he fixed something on our roof for us. He will look at it and if he can do it he will. He fixed it because it was easily taken care of, the squirrels gnawed off around the vent. He won't do roofing but otherwise he is good for anything else. The last time he rebuilt some drywall that had been pushed off in the flood. It takes him a while to get back to you. So many people use him. We will use him in the future, because we wouldn't use anybody else.

Installing missing vinyl planks on the flooring, installed latch on gate, to name a few. He is very versatile and can do many different jobs. We were very pleased. He came out and wrote down all of our needs and then emailed us a detailed estimate and then came out and did the job. Very nice man! Great Job!

 + 0 moreTerry quickly contacted me after my initial inquiry and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. That day, he took some pictures and we discussed some possible strategies on how to complete the job. My roof has a high pitch, which made the job more dangerous and more complicated. Before accepting the job and giving me an estimate, Terry said that he would need to do some more research and that he would give me a call the following day to discuss how he would do the work, which materials he would use and why, and give me an estimate. Everything was clear and logical. He showed up on the time and day agreed upon and completed the work. On top of having a great personality, Terry is very professional and meticulous. Also, the final cost ended up being LOWER than the original estimate.
Description of Work: Terry replaced/secured the screws on the front portion of my high pitched metal roof.

 + -1 more2014 UPDATE: Puzzling and disappointing. He called 11 days after my second voicemail message. His message on my answering machine: Hello, the is John Youngblood. (And the next seven seconds was John Youngblood giggling into the telephone.) Very strange. Unprofessional. Attacks of hilarity aren't unknown and can be explained. But returning a business call? Doesn't inspire either confidence or willingness to engage in any future transactions. Just thought I'd share the weirdness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below is the entry from the initial/only service call the previous year: Perfect. I felt badly because the bricks weren't cooperating but everything worked just fine. Mr. Youngblood has everything he needs to do the job and if not, he's likely to call from a store to check what type of fastener will work best. An easy service provider to have about the house: the dogs surprisingly agreed not to consider him for dinner. We'll see how he handles the next challenge: hanging several stained glass panels. I wouldn't trust anyone else. Not even the Spouse.
Description of Work: UPDATE: Telephoned and left two messages during two week time-span for Mr. Youngblood to return call since I had several new projects for him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Install latch-type extra door lock 2. Replace cheap plastic external dryer vent hood with metal external hood and rubber-seal flapper mounted to brick veneer 3. Install swing-arm bathroom makeup mirror 4. Install curved shower curtain rod 5. Install fullsized tempered glass over-door with internal shades. (Not a door although I'd trust him to do that. This is a double tempered glass panel inside a closed frame.) 6. Check drippy bathroom faucet. (Missing washer. Replaced washer.) 7.Install multi-handle organizer (you know, the kind that hold eight brooms or mops and has four other hooks for things)
