They ruined my vinyl floor and they gave me such a runaround and nastiness and stuff. I wasted three weeks with them being aggravated beyond belief, and so I called VISA and told them about it; it took a while and it went through their negotiators and I was granted that I didn't have to pay the $998 for the move because they ruined my floor, which would have cost around $1200 to replace. We also had two items stolen in that move that we reported to the police and the police followed it up. This moving company's response to my complaint was very, very poor. They also said that if I didn't stop complaining that they would do nothing to help me.

They are punctual and professional and the price is competitive. I have used them to move all of my family members several times and they are consistently professional in all they do. I am going to call them to move some heavy furniture in my home in a short time.

The job was fantastic. The two movers that came to my house and helped me move were on time, courteous and very careful with all my stuff. I have used them probably two or three times before this in the past, and they have always been prompt, courteous and reasonably priced. They don't waste time. It has been a great experience for me. I think they are a moving company, and I don't think they have storage facilities. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

Good communication from point of contact person. She (Jessica?) was professional and courteous. Called a day or two ahead of the move to verify appointment and if any changes were to be made. The crerw showed up on time on the day of the move. They got right to work and were very helpful and were clean cut in appearance. We had A LOT of stuff to move, much more than I had estimated when making the appointment. The two guys hustled around and stayed on task. At one point they were jogging back and forth from the truck to the house. When it was apparent that a second trip would be needed, there was no complaining and they worked just as hard as in the beginning. One of the original two movers tweaked his back, so two more guys were sent to help out. The job took about 14 hours from start to finish. One of the guys worked the whole job and at one time had to take a break because he was getting physically exhausted. He later got his second wind and fnished the job despite the long hours. Don't let the plain and simple logo on the truck fool you into thinking the company is a hack. They did a good job, worked hard, and took care of delicate posessions. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Moved residential belongings from house in Tuscaloosa Co. to another in Pelham. Intrastate rate charged ($126/hr) because the trip was over 30 miles.

We had to use 2 Men and a Truck twice in two months. The purchase negotiations of our new home fell through at appraisal, so we were forced to move without having a place to move to. I was 8 months pregnant, so we couldn't do the move on our own. The first time, we moved from our home into a storage unit, and this move took approximately 7.5 hours. We moved on a Saturday, so the cost was around $1,100. The boys did an excellent job packing everything into the truck and then unloading it into the storage units. The second move was a month later, from the storage unit into our new home. We moved on a Friday and it took about 8 hours to move. The boys arrived on time and got to work. They unloaded both storage units and then drove the truck to our new home. They unloaded all of the furniture and positioned it where we said we wanted it. They were so helpful, and very polite.
Description of Work: The boys moved all of our furniture TWICE! Details are listed in the story below. Some tips I have are: Use them during the week. It's $40 cheaper PER HOUR during the week. Help the guys by moving boxes to the foot of the truck ramp. Since you're not allowed on their truck, you can cut costs by helping them move boxes. The quicker the move is completed, the lower the cost. Ask the guys to only unload boxes to the end of the truck so you can get friends and family to move it the rest of the way. Tip the guys! They do an excellent job that doesn't pay well for what they're doing.

Professional from the start. Provided a good estimate which they honored. Packing was done quickly and thoroughly; i.e. no broken items at all. I would strongly suggest that you NEVER USE two men and a truck for your moving needs!!! While the guys that did our move did a fair job, although they did damage some items, their office people, especially their so called operations manager, Jerod Mccombs, are a whole different story! They are incompetent and unprofessional. Mccombs is rude to customers and not the least bit interested in correcting the company's mistakes or in customer satisfaction. Unfortunately many locations are franchised and the parent company apparently HAS LITTLE OR NO CONTROL over the franchise holders. When I could not get any satisfaction locally, I contacted the parent company to request assistance only to be told that from their past experience with this particular franchise, we could expect NO SATISFACTION! I really can't understand how they can have no control over their franchise holders, but that's basically what they indicated. I am specifically referring to the Birmingham, AL franchise, owned by Richard Mcbee, but since the parent company either does not screen the franchise applicants or has such a weak franchise agreement that they cannot insist on them upholding their company satisfaction promises and goals, I would suggest that all locations of two men and a truck be boycotted!!! I expect to be moving again in six to twelve months and I WILL NOT be calling two men and a truck for that move!!! They will not move you unless you pay their "estimated cost" IN FULL, UP FRONT! No honest business would request this!!! Never pay over half for any services to be rendered!!! After the move was completed, they gave us, in writing, the amount of refund they owed us, however, when the check came it was for $70.00 less than what they wrote IN THE CONTRACT!!! There was NO EXPLANATION as to why it was less than what they had given us in writing as the refund amount. Upon calling to find out when we would get the $70.00 they still owed us, they said they had made a computation error when giving the first number and we got the correct amount. No other explanation was given. Upon requesting to talk to the manager, some guy came on the phone and said "what do you want", did not identify himself and in the ensuing conversation was so rude and condescending to the point that I became so frustrated and angered that I hung up on him. After I had time to calm down I called back and requested his name from the woman who had assisted me previously and specifically told her I DID NOT WANT TO TALK TO HIM AGAIN, just wanted his name, but she turned the call over to him anyway. He was still rude and not interested in resolving the problem to MY SATISFACTION, which was to simply pay me the amount they originally said they owed me. Both the local franchise and the parent company try to hide behind so-called "Government regulated fees" that they have to pay. That of course has nothing to do with them paying IN FULL the total they said they would refund. Apparently they think that customers are so stupid that they will fall for the lame "blame it on a vague third party" trick. Maybe some do, but not me. I know a smoke screen when I see it! To sum it up, their business office and management is incompetent and rude. They do not uphold the parent company's mission and core standards. They have NO INTEREST in satisfying the customer in spite of the fact that the company website says: The mission of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is to continuously strive to exceed our customers' expectations in value and high standard of satisfaction. (THEY FAILED AT THIS ONE) Core purpose We strive to be a role model in our industry. This purpose is reflected in everything we do. (THEY ARE A ROLE MODEL.... OF HOW NOT TO TREAT CUSTOMERS!!!) And also supposedly upholds what they call the Grandma Rule: THE GRANDMA RULE® To treat everyone the way you would want your Grandma to be treated. THE GRANDMA RULE® is a unique principle that we live by at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®. This rule means we treat everyone the way you would want your grandmother to be treated – with care and respect. Although we operate on a large, multi-market, international scale, we maintain a friendly, small-town feel. All of our franchises are dedicated to every detail involved in a move. Through every step we keep THE GRANDMA RULE® in mind and treat your possessions as they were our own – or our Grandma’s. (I HOPE THEY WOULD PAY THEIR GRANDMA THE MONEY THEY OWED HER, BUT MAYBE THEY WOULD TRY TO SCREW HER OUT OF IT LIKE THEY DID ME!) Integrity To always conduct oneself with honesty and fairness They did not show anything even closely resembling ANY OF the above, even after having it pointed out to them that it's on the company website. The parent company apparently has no control or recourse with franchise holders who do not uphold their mission or core values. If they screw you, you're just out of luck except to tell everyone they know not to do business with them and publicize their poor performance on every review and social networking site available. Recommended: Not NO, but ABSOLUTELY NO to any of their franchise locations!!!

They were there on time, ready to work. All three of the movers were very young. It bothered me that the one in charge couldn't have been over 23, but he seemed like he knew what he was doing. They moved everything quickly and effeciently until they came to my roomie's big screen television. It had been playing while they were moving boxes around it and I know they noticed it was on because every once in a while one of them looked at the screen to see what was on. When it came time to pack the television they had to wait for him to unplug it and wind up the cords. I guess the head mover was in a hurry because he didn't want to spend the time or effort to put the television into the box that it came in. The manufacturer's said to keep the box for moving the television, and we did. But the mover didn't want to wait for us to put the television into the padded crate. He said "we move them everyday and nothing ever happens" so after discussing it with us a few minutes he reassured us that nothing would happen to it. Promise. Well, it went on the truck without the bottom padding. The rest of the stuff went onto the truck quick and pretty effeciently. The one mover ( shaped like a big old football player) kept carrying too many boxes at a time and I kept telling him not to lift too much. He had to go down a cement and metal stairway and it didn't seem safe. But he never listened, but I don't think he ever hurt himself either. I was more concerned with him dropping my Pfaltzgraff plates than hurting himself, but I guess he didn't get that. I was getting a new bed in my new house so I requested that they toss my old kingsize bed in the dumpster on the way out of the apartment complex. The head mover said he'd like to have it instead of dumping it. I thought this inappropriate and a bit off but I worried about my other belongings if I didn't agree to give him the bed. So they took the bed down and strapped it in, but they didn't, I guess they were happy about getting the bed for free, they forgot to take the rest of the stuff to the dumpster. There was a king size mattress pad, mattress cover-zippered bag, and a 3 inch foam mattress topper that they left laying in the middle of the floor that they should have rolled up and took it out. But they just left it lay there in the middle of the room. It was real awkward and hard to move--especially the foam mattress topper! They should have not "forgotten" that because I have a bad back and it is impossible for me to move. I had to hire someone else to move it the next day. When we got to the house they quickly unpacked everything and we couldn't watch all three of them because we had a plumber coming over to do an estimate on some work, so at times the movers were left alone. While under our supervision they seemed okay but left alone they seemed to forget that they were supposed to put boxes in the rooms written on the outside of the box. Things that weren't supposed to be in the basement ended up under other stuff marked basement in the damp basement. I still can't move the boxes upstairs because they are too heavy. I guess I'll have to hire someone else to bring the boxes they left downstairs, upstairs. Another unexpected cost. Because the plumber was there we didn't get a chance to plug in the television (50 to 60 inch big screen tv) but soon after the movers left we plugged it in only to find out that it didn't come on... there wasn't any sound or light at all. They had broken the television! They next day we called them and after a few days we heard that the head mover said that the television was never turned on at all BEFORE the move. He said he never saw that it worked at all... so the claim was denied and they said that they would not get it fixed. He lied. Blatant bold faced lie to his bosses! He saw the television on. He was right in front of it when he refused to pack it in the box it came in. A few more days passed and my roomie begged them to take a look at it... They picked to take it to their full time repair shop. The shop that fixes all their televisions that they do agree that they broke. I'd bet that they told him what the outcome would be... It's not like he was an independant shop-- and it should have been a none biased shop because if the shop felt it got broken during the move then Two Men and a Truck would pay for it to be fixed. So, of course the television fix it man is going to say it's something burnt out over time and use... Amazing how it happened when it was in the hands of Two Men and a Truck. When it was working fine before Two Men and a Truck workers moved it. Now WE have to pay another expense! We have to pay to get our television fixed even though it was broken by Two Men and a Truck. $278! Amazing how they ripped us off! They should have fixed it without an arguement because the workers saw it was on and working fine and THEY refused to pack it into the padded box for the truck ride. My roomie noticed that they hit one of the tallest speed bumps going fast and we think that is what broke the television. It was sitting on the floor of the truck without any padding underneath--exactly what the box (they refused to put it in) would have protected the television from. It could have been avoided if that head mover would have just listened to us and put the television into the padded case! Also near the end of the move, I guess the guys were tired and wanted to get out of there, boxes marked for the kitchen ended up in the bedrooms, Bathroom boxes ended up in the workroom, my valuable record collection ended up in the damp basement and it's too heavy for me to move so I'll have to hire someone else to move it upstairs. I keep finding boxes put into the wrong places. I wish they would have paid more attention but they wanted to get done quickly so the dropped everything anywhere. Not good for an organized move. I shouldn't have even wasted my time labeling the rooms on the outside of the boxes. Today we have to make a decision if we will pay for the television to get fixed. I guess we will. But they should PAY for it. IT was there fault that the television got broken.. not ours! I don't see how they can get away with destroying things and not having to pay to fix them. It's just wrong! Plain WRONG!

They didn't inform me that they no longer took checks. I had an alternate form of payment, but they ended up driving away. I had to call the police. They did not come back initially. I left about 6 messages last night; nobody returned my calls. I also called the owner, Richard, and he just yelled at me. They ended up returning the next day (April 30), but didn't even let me check the truck to make sure that everything was out. They didn't put my belongings, such as my bed, back together. When they arrived, they didn't apologize for what happened. Furthermore, my money is missing along with my case number card. I ended up having to pay $750 to be treated like this.

Response from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Birmingham
This member attempted to submit an unsatisfactory form of payment for her move. Under the Bill of Lading Act we have a Possessory Lien which allows us to hold property until proper payment is tendered.Initially she was uncooperative in making an acceptable payment. Once an acceptable payment was made the move was completed. However, she has a balance due of $550. $450 of that balance is for the moving service and $100 is for overnight storage of her property.

They were prompt to come and give me an estimate. They showed up exactly on time. The drivers were very careful with my things. They delivered the next day in Birmingham, again exactly on time. The price didn't vary at all from the estimate. Whatever they took apart to move, they put back together at the new home. The whole experience was extremely pleasant. These guys are FANTASTIC! After having my condo on the market for a few months, we finally went to contract but the closing date kept moving. I had not packed ANYTHING in my condo because the unit was still being shown. I did not got final confirmation on the closing until the day before it was scheduled. I called Two Men and a Truck that day and they were able to send a crew out that afternoon. When the two guys showed up and realized the scope of the job, they immediately called the office for a second crew. The second crew showed up quickly and the packing began. These guys had to pack everything including the bed linens still on the bed, pictures on the walls, dishes, clothing, furnitture, etc. I did not have any packing materials, so they supplied everything. They even had wardrobe boxes for the clothes that were still hanging in my closets. They got everything packed up and into the moving trucks in about 5 hours which was a miracle in my opinion. They drove directly to the storage unit and proceeded to unload after only a short 15-minute break. Unloading took about another 2 and 1/2 hours and they didn't slow down one bit until it was all done. These guys are just amazing. They were incredibly fast, but also very careful with all of my items including china, mirrors, antique furniture pieces and a 52-inch plasma TV. I definitely plan to use them again for my next move.

They arrived early, worked really hard, took very good care of our stuff, and were pleasant and easy to work with. We thought the price was reasonable ($98/hour, including travel time from their office). Total was $539 for a short-distance move of furniture, large boxes, and miscellaneous garage type items from a house about 1300 square feet (we did the packing). They didn't use a hand truck, instead they hand carried the items, which saved our carpets from getting dirty. When they placed the furniture items in the new house, they wanted to be sure we were satisfied with where they had put it, and were willing to move things around if we wanted. Overall an excellent experience.

The movers were OK although they broke one item. The charge to move across the street was $1000 when the estimate was half of that. They sent 2 more men with a truck and charged me travel time for the additional truck that they did not use. I gave them a check and called to resolve the overcharge. They said they would not cash my check until we came to an agreement. As soon as we ended the call they went to my bank and cashed my check so I could not stop payment.

They did a pretty good job. They did forget a few things but at least it wasn't a cross country move. 2 Men and a Truck are wonderful. This was the 2nd time we have used them, and they did an amazing job. They were very careful to put padding over our belongings, and nothing got scratched or dented. We were very pleased with what they did and they were very willing to adapt to my needs. They were also very punctual. We had a very large house and the men from 2 Men and a Truck got it all loaded up, and moved into our new home in less than a day. They started work in the morning and didn't stop working until it was all done. They were extremely hard workers. We were also amazed that they sent someone out ahead of time to determine how long it would take to move us and to provide boxes that we needed.

The movers did a great job. There was nothing broken or scratched. They are a very professional company, and they showed up on time. Their prices were reasonable and the estimate was the same as the final price. When our furniture arrived at our current destination, they placed it where I wanted it to go. They were friendly and polite.
Description of Work: The movers came out and loaded all of our furniture and they moved us locally from Birmingham, Alabama to Birmingham, Alabama at our current residence. I did all the packing myself.

We've used Two Men several times when we moved, and find them inconsistent. Some crews are quicker than others and that makes a difference because they charge by the hour. The last time, they underestimated the amount of time they'd take by four hours. Nothing was damaged, however.
Description of Work: Two Men moved us into our new house.

I thought they did a great job of handling and caring for our furniture. A lot of our furniture was antique and very heavy, and they made sure that they had the proper equipment and ample personnel to ensure a smooth operation. They were courteous and professional. We didn t have any of our property damaged in any way.
Description of Work: They moved 4 rooms of furniture 7 miles. We did our own packing.

They were very courteous and they used great caution in the handling of our property. They were prompt from the beginning to the end of the move. All of our property arrived in excellent shape. They did a very good job in moving our belongings.
Description of Work: They moved 6 rooms of furniture about 3 miles for us. We did the packing.
