Guin Service LLC

After a plumber that I had contacted failed to show up as promised, I contacted Joseph Braswell at Guin about a badly clogged kitchen sink drain and he immediately got someone out to take care of our problem. The serviceman was professional and courteous. We also purchased a drain cleaning product for $60. A few days after our service we received a thank you note from Joseph for choosing Guin. Their price was higher than the previous plumber's quote, but the quality of their work, puncuality, and professionalism was well worth the difference. From now on I will only use Guin for my plumbing needs.

The technicians were scheduled to arrive at 9 am however they called at 9:15am to say they wouldnt be there until 10am. Upon arrival, they tested the unit and said it was the circuit board and would cost $500 to fix. They also said it could be the thermostat which would be an additional $200 to fix. We opted not to have the work done. We later found out that it was only the ignitor which cost less than $100 to fix.

They do good work and I will call them if I require them to do any plumbing work.

See note above about customer service response from service manager. Co. ad says service for entire area. Called co. and explained the problem with toilets not flushing/refilling properly. Had a call arranged from the service person with the pump truck. When he called after a few minutes, my sister explained our problem. He said there would be a $147 after hours service charge. That appears to be average for our area. She told him that would be fine. Then he says they "don't usually come out to our area". She asked if that meant he was coming or not. He then asked if we were sewer or septic. Then he wanted to know how long since the tank was pumped. It was done 4 or 5 years ago. He suggested we should call a septic tank service. She told him she didn't believe that was the problem. The conversation ended with her unsure if he was coming or not. I called the co, back and explained what had happened. I said since we needed something done before Mon. (3 days without a toilet is a little long) - take us off the service call list - if we were even still on their call list. The man apologized and then said he didn't want to automatically take sides but maybe we should get the tank pumped. I told him it went 30 years without pumping and absolutely no problems so I didn't think that was where we should start. I told him it seemed to me the problem was the drainage wasn't getting to the tank. If the problem is between the house and tank I don't think correction should start at the tank. It was a very disorganized disappointing series of calls that left us with the same problem. If there isn't area wide service then they should be specific and not waste everyone's time.

I found them on Angie’s List. They charged me $220 for the job. I thought they were prompt, very professional, and knowledge. They knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. They told me the cost and fixed the problem for that price. Their price was standard to the other plumbers. They were very quick and very punctual. I will use them again in the future.

I wanted to use the free estimate that was offered here on Angie's List. Two men came out and i told them upfront about the free estimate coupon. They looked at the furnace, it is not equipped with a pilot light. They saw the area that needed to be patched in the vent and while one of the men stayed to talk to me, the other snuck out to the truck to get aluminum tape and started taping the vent. Before I knew what had happened, he was telling me that that they DID perform a service and that they could not accept the Angie's coupon and charged me $60 for it. I could have fixed it myself for $8. These two men took money from a teacher who is having to pay a full mortgage by herself. Thanks guys.

They did a good job. They are honest, which is half the battle in that business. I just called them again this morning.

I called Monday to set up an appt. for Thursday. Chris gave me an appt. time of 8am on Thursday. I had new kitchen counters and back splash installed on Tuesday and Wednesday by another company. The new undermount sink had to set up for 24 hours before the plumbing was set in place. This is why I requested Thursday. The technician, Marvin, called us at 8am and said he was coming from Birmingham to our house in Alabaster. He arrived about 8:45am. Marvin was very nice, professional, and polite. He explainded everything that he did and even took the old sink away for us. He did quality work. I would definitely use Guin Services again.

They are a large company. They have one central office with a telephone number and various offices. I got a high frequency unit downstairs and a normal a/c upstairs. There was some duct repair work and re-engineering to be done. They knew what they were doing and explained everything. We have used them for years for our plumbing needs also. They have installed dishwasher, garbage disposal and I think they also installed our gas log. In every job, they have done for us I can never recall there being any complaints and I just call them for any problems. I have a maintenance contract with them for heating and air. There is one individual initially who spent a lot of time in measuring, calculating and explaining things for us. He also advised things to do cost effectively. I will use them again in the future.

It went very well I didnt think that he would do all that he done for a free diagnosic but he went above and beyond to find what the problem was with my funace and i really appreciate that.

It went well, the only snag was that I was told during my initial call that I would be called book soon with an update on when someone would be coming out. I never received that call but called them back after an hour or so, then they got back to me within 10 minutes with an estimated time. Everything else went great, and the price was great for the service. The two gentlemen were polite and seemed very knowledgeable. The Angie's List coupon proved quite valuable.

My heater had died altogether and I called them at 7.30 in the morning and told them that I would appreciate it if they could come at any time between then and 10 o' clock, but they didn't even bother to call me back. I ended up calling them and telling them to forget it and that I would use somebody else. I ended up going through the entire weekend with no heat at all. They also do plumbing and that was good. I had been their loyal customer for several years, with them coming out twice a year and checking them and doing the regular maintenance. It is not like I just called them out of the phone book.

I thoroughly compared specifications on numerous brands of HVAC systems via internet, and then obtained quotes from 4 different -well rated contractors on Angies List before making a final decision. In comparing value for the price, I decided on the Bryant Evolution System. I also had previous experience with the GUIN company and found their service to be excellent. I chose this company previously to replace an outside AC unit and got 13 years of good service from the previous Rheem unit. Mr. Ricky Lockhart worked with me on the estimate and sales process. He was very easy to work with and completely knowledgeable about the system. He answered all the questions I had during the estimate process and I was very pleased with the service and follow-up he provided. I don't think I could have gotten two better installers than Bobby and Wes. They were patient with the customer standing around watching and asking questions. I felt that they did an excellent job in installing my unit and highly recommend asking for them to do the install. I think I'll be real pleased with this Bryant Evolution system.

They are knowledgeable. They are punctual.

We mopped up and waited a few days before they could get to us. Plumber showed up fiddled for 2 hrs. He threw up his hands and said we needed the main drain worked on and the main drain guy would have to do it. He left without our having a complete understanding of what we could or could not do and exactly what the problem was. A few days later a pair of plumbers showed up fixed the problem promptly, took care of a few other things. The second visit was everything the first should have been hence the B.

When I called, the person who answered my call was very friendly and courteous. She said they probably wouldn't be able to come to my house until the next day. I said that would be fine because it wasn't an emergency. The next day, the plumber called me in the early afternoon and said he would be there in about 15-20 minutes. He arrived promptly and addressed the problem right away. My kitchen sink drain was running very slow. He went up on the roof and snaked out the pipe and then came inside and ran lots of water in the sink to be sure the clog was removed. He was finished within 30 minutes. This fixed the problem. My sink drain is running freely now.

Their prices were reasonable. I had a good experience with them.

They were just as good as the ratings said they were, except they were cheaper than I thought they would be! This was my first time to use Angie's List and they had considerably more reviews than they're next competitor (42 to 5) to be exact. Very prompt, highly professional and more than fairly priced. They didn't even ask for the Angie's list coupon, they just went ahead and applied it and thanked me for the business. I will call this company exclusively from here on out.

I would have had to pay eight hundred fifty for Guin to fix my shower drain leak. Instead, I went with someone else and paid only three hundred fifty.

We had almost a flood in our backyard and couldn't tell what it was coming from. We called the Heating and Air Company who insralled our unit and they said it wasn;t the ac and that it was a sewer problem. We called the Sewer company and discovered that it was NOT a sewer problem but they showed me the source of the leak. I called Guin Services from seeing them on Angies List and Dewayne came over asnd assessed the problem. The estimate was free since I was an angie's list subscriber. He told me the exact problem, we scheduled for that following Friday for the work to be done and we haven't had any problems. My only issue was that it was a fairly quick job about 3 minutes and the parts were minimal in price $38-$53.00 dollars after doing some research so that was a lot for labor in my opinion.

Repaired quickly, correctly, and professionally.

I telephoned Guin after obtaining information from Angie's list. They were listed as second on the list. I called the first company but they could not accomodate me until a day or two later. Guin came out the same day that I called them. The receptionist informed me that the technicians would be at my house after 1p.m. if not before. They arrived before 1p.m. and completed the job that needed attendtion. Those technicians are great plumbers. I was also pleased that they honored Angie's coupon.

My garbage disposal's housing was cracked and leaking. My kitchen faucet also needed to be tightened. This cost did not include the cost of the new disposal. I bought the disposal. Guin was able to send someone the following day for an estimate. The original estimate was $200, but I was charged $225. I don't really have a feel for how fair the price was, as I haven't had much plumbing work done in the past. The work was done two days after I had the estimate. The fellow showed up on time, and was very professional and pleasant. He called before coming, and arrived right on schedule.

Well, I just told you- I joined this morning, looked up the company, they were here within 3 hours for a non-emergency call, worked fast, job completed. I'm happy.

I called Guin and asked for a Free Angie's List Diagnostic Service. The lady was very courteous unlike the three other HVAC companies that I had previously called. When she found out that the mobile home was located in Argo, Alabama, she said that there was a technician who lived in the area and could come by on his way home. The technician called me when the company said he would. I met Tommy at the mobile home. He explained to me that the previous owner had removed the cover of the outside unit which caused it to operate improperly, overheated, and trip the breaker at the power pole. He instructed me on how to solve the problem. I corrected the problem myself. I know that this unit will quit the future. When it does, I am ONLY going to call Guin. If Tommy is still working for them, I will request him only. What Guin did not know is that I own two houses and two mobile homes when they were the ONLY company to offer me a free estimate. Guin is my company. Thanks.
