His crew did a great job of surface prep, power washing and applied 2 coats of stain. Finished ahead of schedule and for the agreed price. The crew was very punctual, kept up informed of the schedule they were on and couldn't have been nicer. They kept the work area clean, not a drop of paint on the ground and the crew was a happy bunch. We could not recommend Hugo more highly. It was a pleasure dealing with him and we look forward to having him help us again..

Months in advance of the job, Hugo Mathey (Math-A Service) came out to my home, and provided a prompt estimate, and then subtracted the advertised Angie's List discount from the labor cost. Before the project began, Hugo had his insurance company provide me with a current Certificate of Liability Insurance with my name and address listed for this job. I stressed needing him to start the paint job on the first available Spring weather window, which he committed to well in advance (Third week of April 2015, as we had an early thaw). They came on a Saturday, and power washed the house and garage thoroughly. Monday, they began sanding and scraping, applying filler and primer where needed. Weather cooled a bit below overnight minimum temps required by paint manufacturer, and Hugo worked with me to adjust to a proper weather window for painting later that week. Meanwhile, his crew did some masking of light fixtures, etc. Throughout this job Hugo listened to, and addressed all of my concerns. He and his crew were most professional and customer-focused. On Friday, he and his paint crew of three finished masking windows and doors, and applied two coats of Sherwin Williams Exterior "Duration" paint to both house and detached garage. After spraying on the first coat himself, Hugo has his crew back-roll the paint to ensure excellent coverage. The second coat is sprayed on after proper drying time to the first coat. After the two coats were dry, the crew began painting the trim. The reason for the early date request was because we wanted the painting completed before the many ferns and other plants had a chance to start growing next to the house/garage. I marked these plants with yellow ribbons, and Hugo and his crew were very careful not to disturb even one of these ferns. Saturday they finished with the trim and a few touch-ups, and the house and garage look great! They cleaned up all debris and left the premises looking as good as when they started. I would use Hugo of Math-A Services for any future painting jobs, and would heartily recommend them to anyone.

We would highly recommend Math-A Service. Hugo is a true professional. He came out to assess our painting needs, and by the next day we had a bid. His team of Oscar and Miguel couldn't be more thorough, pleasant, precise, and polite. My husband and I are pretty picky, and we are thrilled with the outcome. Both Miguel and Oscar showed up on time, or earlier, and worked non-stop. For three days they were focused and hard working. They even straightened lines left by the last painter in areas where the new paint met the old! After Oscar and Miguel finished, Hugo showed up to check the work. He touched up some areas on our built-in bookcases where a previous painter bled the paint onto the wood. We told him not to worry about this since it wasn't his doing, but Hugo said, "I want it to look really good." This was truly above and beyond. We would definitely call Math-A again. Hugo has an incredible work ethic, and it appears his painters share this same value.

Hugo Mathey and crew did a fantastic job painting the interior of our home, replacing and painting broken and missing trim, repairing wall damage in several areas, and repainting and touching up all of the trim, doors, railings and bannisters. Hugo's crew was very professional and took extra time to ensure that everything was done perfectly. The price was well worth the time and attention that Hugo gave our home. It was worth the price. Hugo obviously cares for the quality of his work and it comes through in the finished product. We asked for a lot of additional work that was not in the original bid and Hugo covered many of the items without charging extra and on the few extras that we were charged on, he was extremely fair. I wish I could give a higher rating that "A". If you are looking for a quality painter with a good work ethic, I highly recommend Hugo Mathey.

As new residents to Alaska, we had to proceed on word of mouth and reputation. So we understand the uncertainty of trusting in people we don't know coming into our home. We were rewarded for our faith in Hugo. Outstanding work, craftsmanship and attention to detail. Equally important however, are the people. Hugo and his crew are punctual and polite. They're considerate and the place is cleaned up after they leave. He returned to ensure the job was completed correctly. When there were adjustments to be made, they were handled. He was responsive and in some cases, attended to them himself. We've had a handful of workers throughout this house. Not all of them have been up to standard. Hugo and his crew exceeded our hopes and the house looks great. If you're in middle of a major renovation, you understand all of the moving parts. This is one area you will not have to worry over. If it's is the only project you're doing, relax. You'll be in great shape. t

He was very affordable and he did an excellent job. He was incredibly timely with estimates. He worked when he said he was going to work. He got the job done in the amount of time he said he was going to get it done. It was great. The work is still looks great.

Straight As across the board. New to the area. We bought a nice home that needed some pop. Hugo arrived soon after initial contact, looked at what e wanted to do, and provided an estimate within 24 hours. Very reasonable when compared to others we had received. Since he had such a. high rating from Angie's list members, we opted for his team and he quickly got our job scheduled. Bottom line is that his engagement, his team, and his quality of work was so good that added work scope to the initial estimate. His team wound up painting nearly the entire home. We will hire Hug and his team to finish some cabinets and I have already asked him to get me onto his summer exterior painting calendar next year. Hugo and his team are awesome! Our house was in need of a major paint job and our decks needed some love and attention. Hugo came out a couple days after I contacted him and gave me an estimate. I contacted him within days of getting the estimate and agreed with the job. Hugo and his team were at my house the next week power washing the house and decks getting it ready to paint! After I finally decided on a color, the job was completed within the week!! Thank you Math-A service for everything! I love it!!

Hugo and his crew were great, methodical and cleaned up the area each day they worked. They worked long hours to get the job done especially since we were having a rainy summer. They made progress with each trip and did not charge for a last minute add on the paint job. Hugo was on top of the painting throughout the whole process which was impressive since he was very busy. His crew were all good natured and worked hard the entire time they were onsite.

I got a word of mouth reference from someone who used Hugo a year ago and said he was very honest, timely and willing to explain any detail. I got on Angies List and found his A rating and lots of good comments. I have had some bad experiences with various contractors in the past, so I was a little weary. Hugo came by a day after I called him and gave me a quote, which was less then I anticipated. My wife had a crazy idea that I would/could paint our beast of a house next Summer, so when his quote was lower than expected, I had a talk with the wife and reminded her if I fell off the ladder, trying to paint, we would spend a lot more than paying for a professional painter. We scheduled Hugo for ASAP, knowing we were running out of time this year for exterior painting. Of course, it rained for the next week straight, but his guys came by and prepped the house during the rain, power-washing and filling in holes, gouges, etc.. They scraped the window trim and prepped them very well. We were on deck, as another house was ahead of us. As soon as the sun shined last weekend, Hugo came by personally to ask if his guys could cover the windows, so as soon as the other house was done, they would start ours. His team was at our house, starting the painting on Monday AM, and since we had sun all this week, they were here every day, when they said they would be, applying first coat, second coat, trim paint, touch up, and finally cleaning up their mess. They finished tonight, and I had to ask Hugo if I should pay him. He never asked me for payment, not even up front. He takes credit cards, his crew is super friendly and non-intimidating. We have 4 kids, and never felt uneasy. Our house looks wonderful. Thank you Math-A for saving my life, probably literally. I recommend them to anyone for painting. I haven't been able to say that lately about other "pros" we have hired, but these guys are excellent.

This was the first time I used Angie's List to find a painting service. I was a little skeptical but decided to give it a try. After reading all the reviews for Hugo Mathey's " Math A Service", I emailed him to arrange a time for an estimate. He came the next day and arrived on time! He helped us choose the appropriate paint and listened to our list of expectations for the job. The next day we received an estimate that was competitive with our other bids. We decided to give him the job. He and his crew showed up ON TIME and worked diligently to get the job done. They take pride in their work and it shows. They did a beautiful job filling in all the nail holes too. I am proud to say that the quality of his work is excellent--the best interior paint job I have ever had! They also left the apartment clean upon completion. I will definitely refer him to my friends and use his service again! Oh yes...LOVED getting the Angie's List discount too! ..

Hugo Mathey's crew were efficient and cheerful. Although they were pleasant and helpful they worked hard and did an excellent job. When an area was painted that we did not want painted. Hugo restored it completely.

We were thoroghly impressed with the entire experience we had with Math A Services. Hugo came out and gave me a estimate the same week I called. I had scheduled several estimates, and Hugos was significantly lower than the other 3 we received. The crew started on time, worked dilligently and got the job done in less than a week. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and HIGHLY recommend these guys!

I chose to hire Hugo, the owner of the company, because of his communication skills and customer service-oriented attitude, and the decision really paid off. His bid, with the Angie's List disount he offers, was competitive. And while all the companies we received bids from seemed to offer basically the same material services, it was only Hugo that took me around the house explaining the whole painting process--power wash, chipping and sanding, priming, taping, paint and roll and paint again--and happily answered all my questions. The reason I say Hugo's attitude paid off is that we had a bit of a glitch that he handled quite well--something that could have gone a very different way with someone less interested in customer satisfaction. The glitch started with us having the painters match a color we'd found at a different store. So, after the entire job was finished--the house beautifully painted with sharp lines and our house-side sunflowers left intact, my girlfriend and I (we hadn't been present when the painting started) realized the the color was either off from the sample, or that the color we'd chosen just looked quite different when it covered an entire house. We'd sampled about ten shades of light green, so we were quite particular on the color issue. The final product was more of a green apple than a moss green. My first request of Hugo was to change the color of the garage door, thinking that perhaps the contrast between that accent color and the house body was accentuating the green. Hugo came out himself and repainted the garage door at no charge! We decided however, that the body color was just not what we wanted. What do you do in this situation? Well, Hugo immediately took our side and began working toward a solution, reassuring me that he wanted us to be happy and that we'd get the problem solved. He took samples and pictures to his paint supplier to appeal for a poor color match. In the end, it seems that the Lowe's sample we had in the beginning didn't quite match their own paper representation of the color. I also suspect, however, that part of our surprise was simply our own inexperience with the difference between how a color looks on paper--and even on a patch of wall--and how it looks across a large space. We decided that Hugo would repaint and roll another body color on the house. He took this on eagerly and almost immediately--with the Fourth of July holiday intervening. He came out personally to do the job with one of his painters, in order to save us on the cost of labor. We agreed that we'd pay "at-cost" for the second round of paint, upon which he also applied his ten percent discount! Hugo turned a potentially scary situation into one easily managed, and made the fix very affordable. And this is why I highly recommend him to other homeowners. He has a great balance of professionalism and friendliness that really makes you feel like he has your interests as first priority. The final coat of paint looks great--as well done as the first--and we've come away feeling quite positive about the experience.

He was very prompt for all work. Provided a quick estimate and kept in contact as to when the work would be started. We were somewhat hampered by rain on several days, but he made sure the work was done as promptly as was he could. He did a very professional, excellent job and we are completely satisfied. He followed up afterwards to make sure we were happy with the work. I plan on using him for some inside painting when we need it done. Excellent job!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Hugo and his team were! They were some of the best I have worked with - and my home has seen a lot of workers from different trades this summer! Hugo was punctual, accurate with his quotes, meticulous about the details (as we were quite particular) and always went the extra mile. He truly has transformed our home. He did not cut corners, and in fact, fixed a few for us! His workers were courteous, friendly and conscientious. I have young children in my home and always felt at ease with Hugo and his crew. He even helped us make the final decision on color - and we LOVE the results. I would choose Hugo again and again and already have a downstairs project lined up for him this fall. I wish all the tradesmen I have encountered were as reliable and friendly with such an eye for the little things and quality that really matter!

He was prompt, receptive and he actually gave me a phone number of someone so I can ask about references.

Hugo and his men were great to work with. They were all very friendly, responsive and punctual. We had a very small window of time to remove popcorn ceilings from our new home, all 2400 sq ft of it. They managed to finish a day earlier than quoted, which was a huge with our move. They were able to repair some water damage they encountered and did a very nice job overall. Planning to hire Hugo again when we repaint the exterior of our home and would highly recommend him to anyone in search of a painting crew.

Thumbs up to Hugo and his crew. They did a great job. The crew was very courteous and respectful. They were on time and paid attention to all the details to ensure a quality job from start to finish. Hugo completely delivered as promised. His price was not the lowest bid but he was the only contractor who responded to all our questions in a timely manner and was very customer focused. In hind sight it was worth the few extra hundred dollars to have that piece of mind going into the job. He is definitely a person you can trust and I would recommend his services and hire him again.

Hugo was very professional and was very fair on his price. We and his team worked Wednesday thru Friday. They did a great job and he took full responsibility for his team. Hugo stayed and touched up what his team had missed. He also came back on Saturday and touched up a few spots that we found later. He also left us some extra paint just in case we see something else. We would highly recommend him.

These guys were so awesome - the crew came in the first day and painted all the ceilings. The rest of the rooms took several more days, plus we kept asking them to do a little more because they were so good. Hugo really helped pick out the color, he had an eye for it. We went through about 4 different samples before he found an old paint can in the garage, painted a swatch on the wall and suggested we might use that color. It looks amazaing! They were always on time, always friendly, and did an amazing job.I will post pictures.

He was very prompt arriving and very neat with his work. Always showed up on time and worked several hours to complete job in a timely fashion. Hugo was very professional with his bid and arranging workers schedules to fit with our schedule. Would hire him again in a heart beat!!
