In 2024, 14% of homeowners installed smart home devices to help reduce energy waste, and 11% plan to install solar panels within the next five years—making it the seventh most popular planned project overall.

The data shows that younger homeowners are especially driving this shift. Among homeowners aged 18–34:

• 8% installed solar panels in the past year, making it the sixth most popular project for this age group.

• 6% installed EV charging stations—another sign of forward-thinking, eco-friendly investments.

• 11% plan to install solar panels in the next year alone.
