Top Tankless Water Heater Repair in Columbus

Summary: Highly organized and professional, but on the expensive side. (see end of review for how they went over-and-above expectations). One evening I noticed a trickle of water coming from the bottom of our standard tank water heater. It had been here since we moved in, so I knew it was probably near the end of its life. I found The Eco Plumbers through Angie's List, and they seem well reviewed, so I called them the next morning and they had a representative out within a couple hours. He went over the options, and took video notes for the technicians to follow. He wasn't pushy, but explained my options and we decided to go ahead with a tankless system as our 4 kids are getting older and showers are going to start getting longer :). The price was a little over $4,000 as we needed the larger unit to power our plumbing needs, he mentioned that normally they schedule out a couple weeks ahead, but since we have actual water on our floor right now they can be there later today. There didn't seem to be a rush price to speed things up, so I went ahead with it and paid a deposit. In hindsight, I should have gotten more quotes as I don't think this is a very competitive price, even with an online coupon I found, but I was also a little stuck since we had to turn off our hot water heater and could have a much bigger problem on our hands if this thing bottoms out soon or the leak gets worse. So, later that day two technicians arrived and began work. Even though I had a little buyer's remorse due to the price, I really couldn't have had a more professional experience with these guys: - A dispatcher called before both the project manager and workers showed up, and they were true to their estimated time windows. I received a text message with a photo of each person that would be coming to the home, a small touch, but nice to prevent letting someone else into the home by mistake. - They were clean and courteous, covering their shoes each time they entered, and laying canvas the entire path from the front door to the basement. - They cleaned up well after themselves. Finally, they did something unexpected which prompted me to write this review. I needed a small power strip to allow the plug to reach a nearby outlet. I had one lying around the house but it didn't have nail holes to mount it to the wall (which would have been preferred to having it dangling in the air). I told them to go ahead and use that for now, and I would go out and buy a power strip later that I could affix to the wall next to the unit. Well, as the work went into the early evening, my family and I had to go to an event we had planned, and when we returned, not only were they finished and the house locked back up, but somehow they had produced the exact type of power strip that I needed. I don't know if they had one in the van, or if they went out and bought one to not leave a job half-done, but they got exactly what I needed, and mounted it for me, without charging any extra. To me this was over and above what was required of them and for this reason I am happy to leave them a 5 star review, even if it wasn't the cheapest place. Then again, who knows. Cheaper isn't always better and I'd be hard-pressed to find a company that is more professional and as well-oiled a machine as The Eco Plumbersshow more

My technician Charlie did a great job. He explained everything he was doing, wore shoe protectors in my house, and laid out a carpet mat to protect my carpet. This is the third time I've used Eco Plumbers and they always do a great job. They are easy to deal with and are very responsive to calls and emails. Excellent. I initially called because my water heater failed to ignite (2yr old heater installed by others). However, two days after making the appointment the water heater ignited fine and continues to work fine. I kept the appointment because it needed descaled. The service call went good and as expected. Due to space constraints, we decided to have a tankless water heater installed in our small laundry room. It was replacing a 40 gallon standard heater. We initially spoke with Jason at one of the Columbus home shows. He came to our home, gave us an estimate which was well below other estimates we received. He is very personable and knowledgeable. He explained the pros and cons of a tankless water heater. We set an appointment for installation which was within a week of the estimate. 2 men arrived promptly on the morning of installation. They did a superb job. (If you are thinking of this as a DIY project...don't do it. There is a lot of pipe installation, wiring, and outside venting involved.) They know what they are doing. Unfortunately technition couldn't put tank in location salesman quoted (vent wouldn't meet code), but he gladly worked with us to find an alternate location for it. The furnace inspection was great! The technician walked through the process with me and explained everything he was doing. The tankless hot water heater installation was great as well. It took them a little longer than initially expected, but that was no fault of theirs. The delay was due to the weather and the configuration of my plumbing, but the price did not change even though they were here an extra day. Technician arrived and quoted a price much higher ($220?, can't remember) than the person on the phone did the day before for a 30 min job (per the technician). The original quote (which was the day before) was for $189 plus they said that I could use a $25 coupon on top of that. The technician called his manager, Braun, who wouldn't uphold the quoted price from the day before, although they were going to allow the coupon. Regardless, their integrity was compromised so I didn't want them to perform any service on my equipment. Sadly, I liked them last year, when they installed the equipment, although I thought their installation cost was pretty high. Lance and David explained the value and features we would see with our new tankless system.
