Dennis Jacob installed a new fireplace insert to replace an existing insert by the same manufacturer (Lopi). He also installed a new flue liner and repaired the chimney cap. They removed the old insert and put it in my truck. I was very pleased with the professionalism of the company and the quality of the work. I got one other estimate, and Pro Sweep was considerably less. It was a dirty job, but they cleaned up the mess so that the area was as clean as when they started. Dennis was also willing to explain what he was doing as he worked. When the basic work on the stove installation was done, Dennis found that one of the fire bricks in the stove was broken. Also, he did not have the wire for the chimney cap repair. We agreed that I would pay only part of the bill until the brick was replaced and the work on the chimney cap was completed. They returned later to replace the brick and complete the chimney cap repair. I am very pleased with the result and recommend them highly

Great. Had a few different companies out to quote and Doug was one of the few who really knew what he was talking about. He was up front about costs and timing and his crews were out over the following few weeks. They removed and replaced about 140' of edging around the roof, sealed or replaced patches as needed, installed a 60' gutter to handle water that was simply falling off of a lower roof section, corrected some termination around some equipment on the roof, and put a one-piece metal cap on the chimney. There were some minor issues with completeness and quality when the crews were done but Doug was happy to come out and address the issues himself. I'm happy with the result and would work with him again

Able Roofing
Roof started leaking after Able installed it 10 years ago with 25 year shingles. Called Able and they sent a guy out to check the three leaks and he came up with all kinds of reasons why it was not their fault. He replaced a vent boot on one spot and that did stop that leak. Able did nothing to fix the other two leaks. Finally replaced roof this year and leaks are gone. So it was definitely the roof. Shoddy work

I noticed water coming in upstairs around the chimney during this spring's heavy rains. Another company diagnosed the problem as a chimney problem rather than roofing. I called several chimney repair/roofing companies for estimates; B&T had both the lowest price and the most thorough bid, proposing not only to fix the leaking chimney masonry but also to repair around the other chimney and stack to prevent future leaks. The estimator, Robert, took pictures of the structures up on my roof to show me the work he was proposing, which I really appreciated, since it's hard to tell on the ground exactly what's going on up there, and he submitted a bid $200 less than the next lowest company -- including these more-comprehensive repairs. B&T was responsive to phone calls and prompt in performing the service. We haven't had enough rain since then to tell whether the repairs will be effective long-term, but the work looks great from the ground, and I haven't seen any additional leakage on the inside. They were a pleasure to work with, and I would definitely recommend them

The final price was a bit higher than the initial estimate as they found after starting the work that the flashing needed replaced - they informed me of my options and I approved the extra work and cost. They even came back a few days later to acid wash the brick at no additional cost. The completed chimney looks great

Kicking Ash Chimney Svc
Kicking Ash Chimney Service replaced the chase cover last year. This year I hired another chimney company to work on other problems. They did an inspection and showed me pictures of how the chase cover was installed by Kicking Ash. The pictures showed that 2 of the 3 screws of the chimney chase cover were missing, and the chase cover was way too big for the chimney. Kicking Ash told me that I had to rebuild the chimney, but none of the other companies told me that rebuild was necessary

New Buck Chimney Sweeps
Everyone was extremely friendly and professional. Originally I was to have the flew to the furnace cleaned and a cap installed on the chimney. Rob arrived in the allotted time and cleaned the flew to the furnace. Once inspecting the chimney, Rob told me the chimney needed dire repair and further explained his findings, along with an estimate. (I have an older home and the chimney had not been looked at for probably several decades.) I was able to make an appointment for a couple weeks later. They arrived on time and completed the rebuild within a day. The flashing was replaced around the chimney and the cap was installed at no extra charge. The workers did a great job cleaning after themselves (couldn't even tell they were there.) They kept to their estimate and the new chimney looks terrific. Will definitely call them again for any chimney concerns or problems

STEVE ARRIVED ON TIME BOTH DAYS HE SAID HE WOULD. AFTER DOING THE INTERIOR CONCRETE WORK TO RELINE THE WATER HEATER FLU, THE BASEMENT WAS LEFT CLEANER THAN HE FOUND IT. WORK WAS PROFESSIONALLY DONE. CAPS INSTALLED WHEN THE CROWN HAD CURED. YOU MAY HAVE TO TRY A COUPLE TIMES TO GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM, BUT IT'S WORTH IT FOR A QUALITY REPAIR/CLEANING JOB. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Accurate Chimney & Fireplace
Due to water leaking, the bottom of the fireplace needs major repair. I called quite a few companies, but very few companies working on this issue. One company even suggested that I needed to rebuild the whole chimney which cost several thousand. Charlie came and did a thorough investigation including going up to the roof. He found out that the company (Kicking Ash Chimney service) replaced my chase cover last year but did not screw 2 of the 3 chase cover screws! Charlie and his team called before coming to fix all the issues. They work very hard in a hot afternoon for several hours to complete all the issues. After finishing the work, they clean up everything well and showed me the tasks they had done and sent me photos of the work on the top of the chimney. I was very impressed by the quality of the work. I will definitely hire them again

I worked with John the owner of the company in that I wanted to replace my old wood burning fireplace with more energy efficient direct vent fireplace. John helped out with picking out the right direct vent fireplace that would be right size and correct BTU'S that would help heat our house. Once we decided, John scheduled his installers to come out and meet with me in what would be required in doing the work. I was impress with the installers and how knowledgeable they were in how they were going to do the job. When John called me that the fireplace was in, he scheduled the work to make sure to work around my schedule. The day the installers arrived they went to work and had to work not only to remove the old fireplace, but had to vent the direct vent fireplace up the chimney. This also required a new chimney cap which I new from previous conversations with the installers. So, new chimney cap had to be made and once that arrived they worked real hard in removing the old chimney cap and installing the new one. I was very impress and how hard they worked in doing this job since this required going up the two story roof in completing this job. What also impress me that they saved my old wood mantel that I wanted to keep with the new fireplace. Also, after we picked out the right tile to be used around the mantel, the installer did fantastic job in grouting and installing the tile. Once this was finally all done we received lot of good compliments from out friends and neighbors in how the fireplace looked. The fireplace not only looks great , but it does heat the house and is very energy efficient

Everything was done in one day, except the spraying of waterproofing sealant. It is a small company, so overhead costs are low, which is something I usually look to find. His crew was mostly family members. During the project, I asked him to look at two loose bricks on the inside fireplace. He checked them, and then proceeded to install them with new mortar. And there was no added charge, even thought that was not in the initial estimate to me. He totally replaced my son's chimney and that is why I had him do my chimney maintenance

Steve had given me an estimate almost 2 yrs ago. I called on him again and he was happy to come out to revisit/revise the previous estimate. I gave him half down and scheduled the work. He came out with a partner to install the main furnace liner. The partner left and Steve rebuilt the crown on the fireplace chimney and performed some minor tuckpointing. He came back about 3 days later to install the fireplace chimney cap. I paid him the balance for completion of his services. He was professional and courteous. He really does a thorough job. Some contractors do the bare minimum by cutting corners... having a "good enough" mentality. Steve does a solid job. I am very pleased with the result

New Buck Chimney Sweeps
During the cleaning and repainting of the wood insert black paint was painted where it should not be and gold paint was painted on stove front where it should not be. Minor but not professional none the less. Chimney sweep stated that chimneys clay flue tiles had cracks and needed a new flue liner. I got a quote from him. Later spoke with the owner and the chimney sweep receiving a slightly better deal on a new flue liner install. For the flue liner install the Installers arrived a little late due to traffic. Spent all day trying to install and having issues. They worked from the roof and I was/am concerned that there may be damage from the time and effort they put in to the install while on the roof. Finally they knocked out bricks on the exterior so they could get the flue insert around the smoke shelf and told me the flue was now in correctly. When replacing the bricks, which were knocked out, there was too much masonry and not enough brick making the visual effect non aesthetic. I spoke with owner and he had the same individual come back and redo the job a week later. I was still not impressed but I accepted the work which was completed as I did not want any more damage to the masonry. They did put a nice cap on the chimney top. I recently tried to use the wood burner and believe there to be an issue with the install. Twice I have started a fire within the stove and twice I have had a room full of smoke before the fire and smoke begin to exit the flue. (Yes, I opened the flue vent cover.) I believe the flue is crimped and when warmer weather arrives will have them back to take a look at their work and be sure that I am getting the proper draft from the flue. Smoke before heat is indicative of an issue with the new flue insert installation
