Top Grab Bar Installation Near Columbus

Needed a provider to install grab bars in shower and needed a quick turnaround. Called on a Tuesday and was able to have them installed on Thursday. Gina Marie was very professional on the phone and was able to answer all my questions and schedule the appointment to accommodate my availability. On Thursday Gina Marie called and asked if we had flexibility to change the appointment due to another job running over. Unfortunately I was not able to and she worked with the owner Paul and he personally came out at the scheduled time in order to ensure the job was completed. Paul was very professional and displayed a strong sense of detail. He explained we needed to get the bars and did not charge us any additional charges as he had to wait for us to get this. He was extremely helpful in providing suggestions as well to the best place to install in the shower. When the job was complete he cleaned up and ensured we were completed satisfied. He returned my phone call immediately, arrived with all tools and different fasteners necessary to do the job, took great care to install the grab bars at just the right height and angle for my mother, worked fast, and cleaned up all dust with a shop vac. Everything went ok. I was able to get an app't. the day after I first called as they were open due to weather. Chris arrived within the time designated. The installers arrived on time and covered the carpeting with a large drop cloth. They also deposited all waste in a large container. They answered my questions during the change over and were very professional. There were no leaks at any time. They removed all existing plumbing and replaced it with new copper tubing and a moen valve that enables us to shutoff the water from the tub area. The moen valve works very well and looks fantastic. The new shower walls never need cleaning and is mildew free. The bench seat is constructed of 2x4 wood and can hold extreme weight if needed. The glass sliding doors are beautiful and there was a grab bar installed for us seniors. A separate hand held shower was installed. The company has a beautiful showroom and we were presented a temporary cost estimate at that time, and a second final estimate when Michelle came to our residence. Spoke to owner, Mary, at the Columbus Home & Garden Show in the spring of 2014. She spoke of all the great advantages of their Onyx shower system and there was a nice display there to see. We learned the product is made in the USA and is guaranteed forever. I filled out a card at the show to have someone contact me and within 2-3 days I received a call about setting up a time to come out and give us an estimate. Gary arrived at the time and date agreed upon. He took the time to look at existing room and to see what we wanted done. He explained the Onyx product and provided samples of the colors. We chose Tiramisu. He wrote up an estimate and gave me a copy. Gary was at our home approximately 70 minutes. After we agreed to the estimate which included the $500 off (home and garden show discount or Angie's List, not both), he advised that next we would be contacted by Tony who would come and take exact measurements for the job. Aaron and Anthony showed up to do the work at the time and date agreed to. They placed drop cloths on the floor to protect our carpet. They were professional and made me aware multiple times that they wanted ME to be satisfied with the outcome. They set up saw horses in our front yard on which to cut the pieces for our shower. They worked very efficiently, were very polite, answered all our questions and did an overall great job. Our job took two days which was the original indication. Matt made and installed a wooden platform at the door from the garage to the house to ease the access for my elderly mother. She has significant mobility issues and it's difficult for her to use steps. He made the platform half the depth of the existing step, and wide enough she can use her walker without safety issues. He also installed a grab bar at the doorway for her to help stabilize herself and pull herself up/down the existing step. She loves it! She's amazed that he knew exactly where to install the grab bar so she could reach it. :) He was very professional in all dealings. He responded promptly to all communications. Perfectly!! We couldn't ask for a better product.. The crew they sent was very professional and the results exceeded our expectations!! In 1 1/2 working days the crew demolished the old completely and then replumbed it and repaneled it and put in all new fixtures and added a seat an grab bars perfectly measured for my height. I was impressed with the quality of the work. They were efficient and removed all the construction debris. They left the area cleaner than when they started the project. The only negative was they forgot to install a grab bar that I had specifically asked to be installed. They were very nice about the confusion and have promised that ti will be installed next week. I love the final result! During the planning phase, Bill and Eileen worked closely with me to find the best products to meet my desires and recommended several improvements that I would not have thought of. They suggested using a half-wall with an upper glass panel to create a more open feeling in the bathroom and provided easy access doors around the whirlpool tub. The planning process and the final result were better than the installation process. The work began in February and started off great. Workmen showed up when expected and carefully draped and covered areas to keep the surrounding areas as clean as possible. The initial tear-down and deconstruction went smoothly and the workmen were very quick and professional. However, once other subcontractors became involved, the process went downhill. Heritage Marble, which provided the cultured marble in the shower and around the tub, did not provide good service. They did not show up when expected and came on days when they were not scheduled. After arriving late, they would leave early. The custom floor is not completely non-skid and initially, they did not provide complete information about floor leveling requirements. The marble installation took much longer than expected. There was also mis-communications between the wall framers, the glass installers and the marble company which resulted in delays and in some work having to be redone. Additionally, Custom Home Works didn't verify the quality of the subcontractors' work so both the electrician and the Custom Glass subcontractors had to be called back to correct problems (finish wiring the shower fan and replace the leaking shower door). When I identified problems to Custom Home Works, they were very diligent in getting the problems fixed and the work done correctly, but I thought they should have been the ones to identify these issues. Because of the problems with the subcontractors, the remodeling that should have been completed in six weeks took four months. Again, I am very, very pleased with the final results and credit Bill and Eileen for a great remodeling plan; however, I was disappointed that they didn't provide better oversight of their subcontractors. Because of this lack of oversight, I can't rate them as high as I would like toshow more

The first crew arrived about an hour later than scheduled on Sept. 4 but went right to work tearing out everything. I wished they would have put up a piece of plastic on the opening to the bedroom since the drywall dust went everywhere. However, they did clean up at the end of the day. They came back the next day and installed everything except the doors and drop down seat. The seat was installed on Sept 14. When I sat on it that night (Friday) it started to pull away from the wall. Tony called on Monday to say someone would be out to put in the adjustable shower head bar and I told him about the seat. He then came out personally to work with the person already here to fix it. They had to pull back the vinyl wall covering to see where the reinforced wood was located and fixed the seat. You can't tell that the wall covering was ever disturbed. The special ordered, extra wide, doors were installed on Sept. 20. I now have wheelchair access if needed for my husband in the future. Both my husband and I absolutely LOVE this new showerII He can now sit down to shower and I can put the seat up when I'm in there unless I need it. Everyone who has seen it is very impressed and can't believe that the walls are vinyl since they look just like the tile around the tub!! Even though the price was a little higher than I thought it would be, I am extremely pleased with the outcome and would recommend Simple Bath to anyone needing this type of serviceshow more
