Randy arrived promptly, covered my new carpeting, and went straight to work cleaning out the fireplace, mesh curtains and glass doors. He inspected the fireplace for safety, and then went outside and inspected the chimney for safety, also. Randy was very thorough, informative, honest, friendly and an overall great person to come into my home and clean and inspect my fireplace. Purchased the chimney sweep special for $99 with an additional $100 to go towards masonry repair. Serviceman showed up about 20 minutes early, which was fine since I was already home. Only took a few minutes to realize during inspection that the walls of my fireplace box were cracked and in need of repair. Cost to repair the walls and floor was $650 with labor. Decided to wait to make a decision on having the walls replaced, converting to gas fireplace or removing the fireplace altogether. There was an ice storm which resulted in a two-day power outage. The temperature in the house was down to 42 degrees before the power came back on. We've lived in the house for 6 years, but had never gotten around to having the chimney inspected to see if it was safe to use! New Buck was able to come out on very short notice (called on one afternoon, met with them the next morning), and let us know where we stood. Due to the ice, they weren't able to inspect the chimney from the roof, but they said they'll come back to do that once the weather is better at no extra charge. I am very thankful that they could come out to see us during the middle of the storm, and the advice on chimney caps, fireplace screens, and gas vs. wood setups was very helpfulshow more
